BENJAMIN OLENDER, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Sayreville, died Nov. 22 in Beverly Health Care, Fort Myers, Fla. He was the owner of Ben’s Bait Service, Sayreville, for many years. His first wife, Helen Olender, died in 1983. Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Weinert Olender; a daughter, Carol Ciak of the Parlin section of Sayreville; two sons, Benjamin Jr. of Burlington and Richard of South Amboy; a stepson, Nicholas Spadaccini of Saint Augustine, Fla., two stepdaughters, Lynn Podor of Bradenton, Fla., and Dawn Ferro of Parlin; two sisters, Veronica Nelson and Lottie Slover, both of Sayreville; a brother, Alex Olender of South River; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Church, Sayreville. Interment
was in the church cemetery.
TIMOTHY WELDON, 43, of South Amboy, formerly of Old Bridge, died Nov. 18 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his parents, Daniel Weldon and Catherine Fitzgerald Weldon; three brothers, Daniel Weldon of Orlando, Fla., Terrence Weldon of Freehold and Michael Weldon of Methuen, Mass.; a sister, Ellen Shannon of Metuchen; his fiancée, Kahie Kocsik; four nieces; and two nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment
was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
BYRON KORTH ADAMS, 77, of East Brunswick died Nov. 25 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Arlene; three daughters, Pam Dougherty of Short Hills, Cindy Adams of Boston and Suzanne McHugh of San Francisco; three sons, Chip, John and Mark, all of San Francisco; two stepchildren, Vicki Ferguson of Spring Hill, Fla., and Cindi Bartusek of Milltown; a brother; five sisters; 13 grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren. ELEANOR BARSZCZ CATHCART, 82, of East Brunswick died Nov. 27 in Barbara Cheung Hospice, Edison. She was a former secretary for the East Brunswick Board of Education. Her husband, Joseph, died in 1975. Surviving are a son, Kevin of New York City; a daughter, Joanne Cathcart of Mamaroneck, N.Y.; two brothers, Emil Barszcz of Palmyra and John Barszcz of East Brunswick; a sister, Marion Zohovetz of East Brunswick; and two grandchildren. was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
CLARA I. GROSSO, 83, of Milltown died Dec. 2 in Barbara E. Cheung Hospice, Edison. Her husband, Andrew P. Grosso, died in 1999. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Skarzynski of Sayreville and Claire Quaglieri of Canton, Conn.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. CHARLOTTE HAYES, 90, of Monroe died Nov. 29 in Monroe Village. Her husband, William Hayes, died in 1997. Surviving are many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nieces and friends. A graveside service was held at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.
JOAN MARIE BANKS LETCHER, 61, of South River died Nov. 28 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Eugene Letcher; two daughters, Dawn Oliver and Sandra Mackiewicz, both of South River; and three grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. CHRISTINE DeSTEFANO NAIL, 51, of East Brunswick, formerly of South River, died Nov. 29 in Rose Mountain Care Center, New Brunswick. Her husband, David Nail, died in 1993.
