HILDA KANZER RIESER, 77, of Houston, formerly of Old Bridge, died June 27 in Memorial Northwest Hospital, Houston. Her husband, Theodore Rieser, died in 1988. Surviving are two sons, Harry Rieser of Spotswood and William Rieser of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Shelley Robba of North Carolina; and five grandchildren. Graveside services were held at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
ARNOLD I. SALTZMAN, 64, of Sayreville died July 7 in Cranbury Center, Monroe. He was a sales engineer for Arnold Saltzman and Co., Sayreville, which he owned and operated for 10 years before retiring in 1996. Surviving are his wife, Martha M. Mays Saltzman; two sons, Ira S. of Livingston and Steven L. of Little Neck, N.Y.; a daughter, Tammy Dorfman of Boca Raton, Fla.; his mother, Emma S. Stieglitz Saltzman of Los Angeles; two brothers, Eugene and Carl A., both of Los Angeles; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. JOHN L. SULLIVAN, 59, of East Brunswick, formerly of Old Bridge, died July 7 in St. Claire’s Hospital, Pittsburgh. Surviving are his wife, Marian Marsh Sullivan; two sons, John of Linden and Timothy of East Brunswick; two daughters, Heather of Linden and Megan of East Brunswick; a brother, Daniel of the Avenel section of Woodbridge; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
JOSEPH JOHN SWEENEY, Ph.D., 81, of New Brunswick died July 7 at home. He retired as East Brunswick Superintendent of Schools in 1989 after completing 32 years of service to the township. He began his career with East Brunswick public schools in 1957, initially teaching mathematics at East Brunswick High School and later becoming principal at Central School. In 1965, he was selected to be the first principal at Roselle Smith School. He was appointed superintendent of schools in 1974 and held that post until his retirement in 1989. Surviving are his wife, Olga Davidovich Sweeney; a daughter, Ann Sweeney of Brighton, Mass; three sisters, Helen Snyder of Flagler, Fla., Elizabeth Ackley of Morristown and Irene Crews of Orlando, Fla. ALEX SZIGETI, 81, of South River died July 4 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. His wife, Margaret Bartok Szigeti, died in 1998. Surviving are a son, James of Leland, N.C.; a grandson, James Szigeti Jr. of Milltown; and a great-granddaughter. Interment
was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
ROBERT JOSEPH KARMEL, 74, of Old Bridge died July 3 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Mary F. Englert Karmel; a son, Robert E. Karmel of East Brunswick; two daughters, Nancy J. Pielli of Jackson and Susan M. Galazin of Old Bridge; a sister, Evelyn Mattfeld of East Marion, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. Interment
was in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
MARGUERITE H. VOLK HEATH, 70, of Old Bridge died July 3 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Gerald L. Heath; two sons, Joseph G. of Jackson and Christopher M. of Wilmington, Del.; four daughters, Mary H. Agolia and Donna A. Ventriello, both of Monroe, Colleen M. Besecker of Manalapan and Elizabeth H. Ambrose of Wilmington; a brother, George J. Volk of Newark; three sisters, Maryann Rickerhauser of the Iselin section of Woodbridge, Ethel Caracciolo of Brick and Helen Wall of Edison; and 10 grandchildren. was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.
LJUBICA ILLIC PALSCHAKOV, 88, formerly of South River, died Jan. 2 at the Andover Rehabilitation Care Center, Andover. She was predeceased by her husband, Pater Palschakov, in 1966. She is survived by a son, Michael Palschakov of Parsippany; and four grandchildren. Services were arranged by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Funeral services were held at Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church with interment at Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Cemetery, both South River.
ALBERT WALLEN, 83, of Monroe, died Jan. 2 at the Wellington Regional Medical Center, Wellington, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Lenore Greenfield Wallen of Monroe; a daughter, Joan Daniels of Cranston, R.I.; a son, Jonathan Wallen of Yonkers, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. Services were arranged by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick with burial at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
AGNES C. BIEGLECKI of Milltown died Jan. 3 at Barbara E. Cheung Hospice, Edison. She was predeceased by her husband, John Paul Bieglecki Sr., in 1977; and her parents, John and Anna Yuzek Konops. She is survived by two sons, John Paul Bieglecki Jr. of Milltown, and James Chester Bieglecki of Edison; her sister, Frances Konops of Milltown; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were arranged by The Crabiel Home for Funerals, Milltown. A Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Milltown. Interment

JULIO F. ANDRADE, 80, of the Forked River section of Lacey died Jan. 6 in Community Medical Center, Toms River section of Dover.
