ANASTASIA WLADYKA MORRIS, 85, of New York City, formerly of South River, died Jan. 8 in St. Vincent Hospital, New York City. She was predeceased by her husband, Fermino. Surviving are a daughter, Gloria Celkupa of New York City, and a sister, Sophie Wladyka of South River. Arrangements were under the direction of Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River, with services planned for Jan. 11 at Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, South River. Interment
will follow in the church cemetery.
DOLORES L. STANDARD DUNPHY, 60, of Middletown died Dec. 18 at home. Born in Queens, N.Y., she resided in Middletown for the past 20 years. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Robert Dunphy of Middletown; two daughters, Kris Dunphy of Middletown, and Robin Sheridan of Keyport; a son, Michael Dunphy of Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.; and a granddaughter, Taylor Sheridan. Interment
was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
JOHN L. ERVING, 59, of Long Branch died Dec. 19 at the Center for Hospice Care at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident. He was a dry-waller for Louis & John Inc., Long Branch, for 41 years. He was a member of I.A.M.A., Long Branch. He is survived by his wife, Diana Johnson Erving of Long Branch; three sons, John Erving Jr. of Long Branch, James Erving of Keansburg, and Christopher Erving of Eatontown; two sisters, Barbara Cuje and Patricia Valentin, both of Long Branch; and six grandchildren.
PATRICIA A. TIBBETTS HOURIHAN, 72, of Shrewsbury died Dec. 18 at The Medical Center at Princeton. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Keyport and Metuchen prior to moving to Shrewsbury more than 30 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Her hobbies included gardening, and volunteering at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, John P. Hourihan Sr., earlier this year. She is survived by her son, John P. Hourihan of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Barbara T. Pizonka of Valley Forge, Pa., and Kathleen E. O’Hara of Lawrenceville; two sisters, Judith Ihle of South Carolina, and Nancy Tibbetts of Arizona; and seven grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Roman Catholic Church. DOROTHY P. ALTHERR KELLY, 88, of Tinton Falls died Dec. 14 at Jersey Shore Center, Eatontown. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Andover, Mass., and moved to Monmouth County in 1947. She was predeceased by her husbands, James Kelly, Ferris Altherr, and James Flynn Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Audrey Salava of Newmarket, N.H.; her son, Jimmy Flynn Jr. of Eatontown; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
MARIE R. SARPA MARINO, 88, of Oceanport died Dec. 19 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Rumson and Sea Bright prior to moving to Oceanport three years ago. She was a telephone maker for Western Electric for 28 years, retiring in 1978. Her club affiliations included and AT&T Telephone Pioneers of America, and the Rumson Seniors. She is survived by her daughter, Marlene Mohney; four sisters, Gloria Brennan of Oceanport, Jean Singagliese of Hoboken, Kay Mellone of Las Vegas, Nev., and Josephine LoRocco of Long Branch; and several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and -nephews. ADAM AUGUSTUS "COACH" KRETOWICZ, 81, of Red Bank died Nov. 19 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Keene, N.H., he lived in Rumson prior to moving to Red Bank 10 years ago. He was the founder of, and agent for, Adams Real Estate Agency, Rumson. He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He served with the U.S. Marines as a captain during World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Red Bank; and sat on the Board of Trustees of Georgian Court College, Lakewood. An avid athlete, he founded the athletic program at Red Bank Catholic High School; was a nationally recognized collegiate football player drafted by the N.Y. Giants; and was an athletic scout for his alma mater, Holy Cross College, Mass. He was predeceased by his first wife of 40 years, Florence Davis Kretowicz; a daughter, Virginia Kretowicz; a granddaughter; four sisters; and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Fischer Kretowicz of Red Bank; two sons and one-daughter-in-law, Adam Augustus and Wendy Kretowicz Jr. of Wayland, Mass., and Michael David Kretowicz of San Francisco; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Carol Ann and Scott Comeau of Hingham, Mass., Florence Susan Guiver of Felton, Calif., Marylou and Edgar Mooney, Kathleen and Robert Petroff of Long Meadow, Mass., Annie Kretowicz of Atlanta, Ga., and Kim and Richard Nitto of Monmouth Beach; two sisters, Sylvia Abbott of Greensboro, N.C., and Joanne Anderson; 25 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. JOAN T. McCUE, 52, of New York City died Dec. 14 at home. She was born in Long Branch. She was an artist for both Kmart and Caperelli Inc. Prior to that, she was employed by the Switzer Gallery, the Wasserman Gallery, and the Museum of Holography, all New York City. Her volunteer activities included St. Vincent’s Hospital, and The Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral, both New York City. She was a communicant of Old St. Patrick’s Church, New York City. She was a graduate of both Red Bank Catholic High School, and Rowan University, Glassboro. She is survived by her parents, Martin C. and Theresa M. McCue; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Drew Correa of Fair Haven, Nancy McCue and Rick Theriault of Downingtown, Pa., and Christine and Jerry Potts of Medfield, Mass.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Martin T. and Kathy McCue of Pittsford, N.Y., and Paul J. and Charlene McCue of Freehold; her companion, George Adriangi of New York City; and several nieces and nephews. MARION E. MAZZA, 84, of Manalapan died Dec. 16 at home. Born in Long Branch, she had lived in Orlando, Fla., before moving to Manalapan in 1991. She was a bookkeeper for J.H. Kelley, Red Bank, for 17 years during the 1940s and 1950s. She was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas Pedersen, who died in 1939; and her second husband, William Mazza, in 1990. She is survived by a niece, Shirley Titley, with whom she lived; a stepson, Bud Mazza of Littleton, Colo.; and a stepdaughter, Jean Holmdahl of Herndon, Kan. Funeral arrangements were private.
MARGOT E. NUSBAUM, 59, of Matawan died Dec. 15 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Livingston, she was a lifelong resident of Matawan. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her sister, Doreen Maiolo in 1981. She is survived by her husband, Richard Nusbaum of Matawan; her mother, Hedwig Mayer; her son, Scott Nusbaum of Oceanport; her daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Gene Blascak of Matawan; six sisters, Frieda Finegan of Sea Bright, Alice Hoffman of East Orange, Helen Emerson of Asheville, N.C., Ellen Smithers and Karen Emerson, both of N.C., and Anna Mayer of Brick; her brother, Leroy Maiolo of Long Branch; and her grandson. A funeral service was offered at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Burial was at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.
