CATHERINE PIZZI, 88, of Keyport died Dec. 20 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Long Island, N.Y., she lived in Cliffwood prior to moving to Keyport five years ago. She was a seamstress for several local shops. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Her volunteer activities including sponsoring trips to the orphanage in Hopewell. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Pizzi in 1998. She is survived by two sons, Carmen Pizzi of Hazlet, and Victor Pizzi of Brick; three grandchildren, Nicholas Pizzi of Whitman Air Force Base, Mo., Dominic Pizzi of Brick, and Robin Pizzi of Boston, Mass.; and two great-grandchildren.
EUGENE A. MOLLOY SR., 82, of East Brunswick died Dec. 12 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Harriet Toenies Molloy; two sons, Eugene Jr. of Edison and William of East Brunswick; a daughter, Frances Hecht of East Brunswick; a brother, Andrew Molly of Spotswood; two sisters, Bernadette Cuthbert of Matawan and Theresa Lang of Red Bank; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment
was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902-4301.
BERTHA T. DiBIASE, 89, of Monroe, formerly of Freehold, died Dec. 14 at her daughter’s home in Monroe. She was the owner of Birdie T’s Restaurant and Lounge, Matawan. Her husband, John DiBiase, died in 1978. Surviving are a son, William Volk of Florida; four daughters, Roberta Gardner of Monroe, Charlotte Pollack and Joan Buffalino, both of South River, and Kathleen Schanck of Florida; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment
was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. Memorial contributions may be made to Deborah Heart and Lung Foundation or to the American Heart Association.
ANTHONY J. FISCHETTI SR., 69, of the Parlin section of Old Bridge, died Dec. 19 at home. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he lived in Staten Island, N.Y., before moving to Parlin 25 years ago. He worked as a truck driver for Teamster Local 807 in Long Island City, N.Y., for 25 years before retiring in 1982. Surviving are his wife, Lucy A.; two sons, Anthony J. Jr. of Jackson and Jeffrey of Aberdeen; three daughters, Susan D’Ambra of Irmo, S.C., JoAnn D’Aronzio of Charlotte, N.C., and Karen Hoffman of Cranford; four sisters, Rose Roccomboli of Staten Island, N.Y., Florence Cavallo of Cresco, Pa., Margaret Caruso of Wallingford, Conn., and Lillian Seesman of Staten Island, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren. Services were held at St. Bernadette Roman Catholic Church, Parlin. Interment
was held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown.
MARY CHANDIK FODOR, 88, of Lakewood died Dec. 15 in Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Born in Perth Amboy, she lived there before moving to Lakewood seven years ago. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Perth Amboy. Her husband, Paul Fodor, died in 1968. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Anita Fodor of South Amboy, and William and Marie Fodor of Hazlet; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Holy Trinity Church, Perth Amboy. Interment
was in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Hopelawn.
MARK DeANGELO, 36, of Matawan died Dec. 14 at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City. Born in the West Keansburg section of Hazlet, he lived most of his life in Hazlet prior to moving to Matawan. He was a quality inspector for Driessen Services, Edison. He was a member of the local band, Falling Walls. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony DeAngelo, and his brother, Kevin DeAngelo. He is survived by his mother, Rita Silerto DeAngelo of Hazlet; two brothers, Gary DeAngelo of Hazlet, and Darren DeAngelo of Keansburg; three sisters, Kathryn Gormley and Christine Neff, both of Cherry Hill, Virginia DeFalco of West Keansburg; his fiancee, Susan Dunning of West Keansburg; and 12 nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Hazlet. Interment
will be at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
HELEN GAMBELLA, 73, of Middletown died Dec. 15 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided there and in North Haven, Conn., before moving to Middletown five years ago. She was a bookkeeper for Randy Manufacturing, Goldsboro, N.C., for seven years, retiring in 1990. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Joseph Gambella of Middletown; her daughter, Augusta Mantia of Staten Island, N.Y.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Marc and Patricia Mantia of North Haven, and Anthony Mantia of Brooklyn; her sister, Fannie Como of Port Richey, Fla.; and seven grandchildren. A funeral gathering will be Dec. 19 at 8:45 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial will be in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown.
MARGOT E. NUSBAUM, 59, of Matawan died Dec. 15 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Livingston, she was a lifelong resident of Matawan. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her sister, Doreen Maiolo in 1981. She is survived by her husband, Richard Nusbaum of Matawan; her mother, Hedwig Mayer; her son, Scott Nusbaum of Oceanport; her daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Gene Blascak of Matawan; six sisters, Frieda Finegan of Sea Bright, Alice Hoffman of East Orange, Helen Emerson of Asheville, N.C., Ellen Smithers and Karen Emerson, both of N.C., and Anna Mayer of Brick; her brother, Leroy Maiolo of Long Branch; and her grandson. A funeral service will be Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Burial will be at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.
JESSAMINE A. BARKER, 94, of Atlantic Highlands died Dec. 12 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived in Atlantic Highlands for 92 years. She was a tax collector for the Borough of Atlantic Highlands for 12 years, retiring in 1976. Prior to that, she worked for Sculthorp Insurance Company. She was a member of the Atlantic Highlands United Methodist Church. She was a 65-year member and 25-year secretary for the Monmouth Chapter of the Eastern Star No. 251, Atlantic Highlands; and a member of the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Clifford Barker in 1975. She is survived by her son, Ronald W. Barker of Atlantic Highlands; two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis E. and Palmer Bennett of New Berlin, Pa., and Janet L. and Lee Hofman of Atlantic Highlands; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. A funeral service was offered at Atlantic Highlands United Methodist Church. Burial was at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo section of Middletown.
ROSEANN FACCIBENE, 57, of Keansburg died Dec. 12 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived in Middletown prior to moving to Keansburg 19 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas DiReda and Felicia Moliero. She is survived by her son, Joseph Faccibene of Rowlett, Texas; her daughter, Maria Faccibene of Keansburg; her brother, Dominick DiReda of Middletown; and her sister, Phyllis Sussman of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. Entombment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
