Dorothy F. Muzzi
Mrs. Muzzi, 82, of Long Branch died April 22 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She was a lifelong resident of Long Branch. Mrs. Muzzi was a seamstress at L. Podell Co., Long Branch, where she was employed 35 years before her retirement. She was a communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, and the Long Branch Seniors Club. She enjoyed time with her family, cooking and sewing. Mrs. Muzzi was predeceased by her husband, Patrick C. Muzzi, in 1982. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank C. and Marianne Muzzi of Long Branch; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. and Dr. Paul Peduto of Red Bank; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Helen Letts of Eatontown; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Vincent Popo of Long Branch; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Theodore A. Endresen
Mr. Endresen, 82, of Shrewsbury died May 10 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in Matawan for 35 years prior to moving to Shrewsbury. He was a professional engineer at Port Authority in New York City and Port Newark, retiring in 1989. He was a past Grand Master of the Masons Americus Lodge, F. & A.M. No. 5351, New York City. His memberships included the Matawan/Aberdeen School District Board of Education, Power Squadron of Shrewsbury, and the Monmouth County Chapter of the Seas Club. He was also active in the Boy Scouts. He was predeceased by a brother, Clifford Endresen. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Amy Endresen; two daughters and one son-in-law, Randi Endresen-Polon and Robert, and Nancy Endresen; a sister, Katherine Smith; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Tillie A. Gulino
Mrs. Gulino, 83, of Oceanport died May 15 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Oceanport the past 14 years. She made plane safety equipment at Air Cruiser Company before retiring several years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent Gulino in 1976. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Roy A. and Caroline Gulino of Lakewood, Vincent and Hong Gulino of Jackson, and Anthony and Peggy Gulino of Barnegat; two daughters, Donna Manley of Beachwood, and Cecelia Lane of Louisiana; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Willard Douglas Watkins
Mr. Watkins, 94, of Tinton Falls died April 30 at Kensington Court Assisted Living, Tinton Falls, where he resided. Born in New York City, he resided in Red Bank, and Florida for 28 years, prior to moving to Tinton Falls. He was a retired civilian machinist at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown. He was a member of the Masonic Temple, Atlantic Highlands. He was the oldest living firefighter and past fire chief of Relief Engine Company, Red Bank. He was also a former code enforcer and fire marshal. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Virginia Hurley Watkins; his children, Doug and Fran Watkins of Jackson, Bill and Pat Weber of Keyport, Bob and Joan Weber of North Carolina, Terrie Judd of California, Patti and Richie Brister of Fair Haven, and Frank "Dusty" Bublin of Little Silver; a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Ann Watkins; a sister, Mildred Portune; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wolf, 53, of Oceanport died April 28. Born in Perth Amboy, she resided in Long Branch and Eatontown prior to moving to Oceanport 10 years ago. She was a licensed hairdresser. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Elks Lodge No. 2402. Mrs. Wolf was predeceased by her parents, John and Helen Ruth West Berbrick; and a sister, Deborah Smith. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Robert P. Wolf; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert P. Clara Battafarano
Mrs. Battafarano, 93, of Red Bank died July 12 at home. Prior to moving to Red Bank, she resided in Cliffside Park. Mrs. Battafarano was predeceased by her husband, Dominic Battafarano. She is survived by a nephew, Thomas R. Kennedy Sr.; four grandnephews; two grandnieces; and several great-grandnephews and -grandnieces. Entombment at Madonna The John E. Susan Marie Taranto
Miss Taranto, 46, of Rumson died July 27 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Baltimore, she had been a resident of Rumson the past 10 years. Miss Taranto was a publicist at The Easter Seal Foundation, Washington, D.C., where she was employed 12 years. She was active in various greyhound adoption associations. She is survived by her parents, Lorraine and Thomas Taranto of Sea Bright; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and Dwight Rees of Fair Haven, and Mary and Sean Darby of Tinton Falls; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Amy Taranto of Fair Haven; one niece; and three nephews. Mrs. Carelli, 93, of Rumson died July 30 in Red Bank. She resided in West Long Branch and Long Branch prior to moving to Rumson 18 years ago. Mrs. Carelli was a homemaker. She was a communicant of the Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria F. and Joe Manzi of Rumson; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Diane Carelli of Boca Raton, Fla.; three sisters, Marion Verdi of Holbrook, N.Y., and Violet Gagliardi and Phyllis Marascia, of Farmingdale, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. Robert Nelson Scott
Mr. Scott, 85, of Tinton Falls died July 26 at home. He resided in Oceanport and Eatontown prior to moving to Tinton Falls. He was chief of buildings and structures at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, where he was employed 32 years, retiring in 1981. Mr. Scott was a life member and former fire chief of the Eatontown Fire Company, and a former captain and member of the Eatontown First Aid Squad. He also built and raced ice boats, and enjoyed fishing, crabbing and swimming in the area’s rivers. Mr. Scott was predeceased by is first wife, Ruth Smith Scott. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Barbara Smith Laytham Scott; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael Maltzman of Eatontown; a sister, Nancy Wymbs of Eatontown; a brother, Steele Scott of Sacramento, Calif.; two stepsons; nine grandchildren; and five great-granddaughters. Helen L. Boyington
Mrs. Boyington, 81, of Oceanport died May 15 at home. She resided in Long Branch prior to moving to Oceanport in 1952. Mrs. Boyington was a telephone operator at New Jersey Bell, AT&T, and Bell Atlantic, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers; Order of the Eastern Star, Red Bank; and the Long Branch Senior Citizens. She enjoyed traveling with her family. Mrs. Boyington was predeceased by her husband, William H. Boyington, in 1998; two brothers, Charles and Russell Lynch; and two sisters, Evelyn Soma and Alice Yancis. Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, William Boyington, and John and Barbara Boyington, all of the Wanamassa section of Ocean Township; a sister, Margaret of Wall Township; three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Peggy Blake Hession
Mrs. Hession, 84, of Tinton Falls died May 6 at her residence at The Atria, Tinton Falls. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Atlantic Highlands and Red Bank prior to moving to Tinton Falls eight years ago. Mrs. Hession was a private tutor and ballet teacher. Prior to that, she taught at the Ranney School, Tinton Falls, during the 1960s. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene F. Hession Sr., in 1987; and a daughter, Frances Hession, in 1991. Surviving are two sons, John J. Hession of Copiague Harbor, N.Y., and Dr. Eugene F.
