Born in Elizabeth, she had lived in Brooklyn and Coney Island, N.Y., before moving to Hazlet eight years ago. Mrs. Malaspine was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband, James, who died in 1953. She is survived by a son, Dominick of Hazlet; a daughter, Camille S. Malaspine of Brooklyn; two brothers, Louis Celendano of Holmdel and Ralph Celendano of Hollywood, Fla.; and three grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.

Malaspine of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers, Louis Celendano of Holmdel, and Ralph Celendano of Brooklyn; her son, Paul Celendano of Hollywood, Fla.; and two granddaughters. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, both in Keyport.
MICHELE MARIE KELLY, 29, of Hazlet, died June 23 at Hackensack Medical Center. She was born in Red Bank. She was a hairstylist for Visage, Red Bank, the past seven years. She received her degree in criminal justice from Rowan College, Glassboro. Her hobbies included reading, hiking, music, and spending time with her two dogs. She is survived by her mother, Marie Kelly of Hazlet; her fiancé Ed Leszczak of Hazlet; her grandparents, Avis and Raymond Myer Sr. of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown; her uncle, Raymond G. Meyer of Buffalo, N.Y.; three sisters, Michele Nance of Summit, Deborah Englese of Chatham, and Brielle Englese of Toms River; and her stepfather, Patrick Englese of Toms River. LOUISE DAVIS, 67, of Manalapan died June 25 at home. She was born and educated in Sparta, Ga., and had been a resident of Manalapan for the past 22 years. She is survived by her husband, Willie; four sons, Willie Jr. of Freehold, Bernard of Keansburg, Troy of Hoboken and Ahmod of Eatontown; two daughters, Layvone Ghee of Keansburg and Trina Louise Davis of Hamilton; two brothers, William Warren and Joseph Warren, both of Freehold; a sister, Virginia Alexander of Mayfield, Ga.; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Second Baptist Church, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Township.
PETER J. DESCHENES, 75, of New Monmouth died June 25 at St. Michael’s Hospital, Newark. Born in Elk River, Minn., he had lived in Long Island, N.Y., before moving to New Monmouth in 1964. Mr. Deschenes was an airline engineer for 35 years, working for the Flying Tigers out of Kennedy Airport in New York before his retirement 12 years ago. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of New Orleans; and a member of American Legion Post No. 338, Leonardo. Mr. Deschenes was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served as a paratrooper. He was predeceased by a son, Paul, who died in 1988. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nell Currie Deschenes; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Peter and Diana Soby Deschenes of Asbury, and Dr. John and Susan Deschenes of Chatham; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Gloria and Joseph Speno of Tinton Falls, Theresa Deschenes of New Monmouth, and Cheryl and Brian LaRoche of Yorktown, Va.; a brother-in-law, Wilbur Currie of New Monmouth; and seven grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church. Entombment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
EMILIO J. BRACO, 87, of Eatontown died June 26 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Italy, he moved to the United States in 1921 and lived in New York City and Morganville prior to moving to Eatontown. He was an electrician for Western Union, New York City, for 30 years, retiring in 1978. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was predeceased by his wife, Rose Onofrio Braco, in 1998. He is survived by two sons, Anthony Braco of Fair Lawn and Joseph Braco of Old Bridge; one daughter, Elizabeth Carucci of Middletown; two brothers, Nicholas Braco of Binghamton, N.Y., and Joseph Braco of Oswego, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church followed by burial at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown.
BARBARA JEAN WOODHOUSE, 71, of Keyport died June 26 at Holmdel Convalescent Center. Born in Matawan, she lived most of her life in Keyport. She was a secretary for Stultz Fuel Oil Co., Keyport, for 30 years. She was a lifetime member and former Sunday school teacher of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Hazlet. She was a member of the Republican Club of Keyport; a charter member of the Bayshore Community Hospital Auxiliary; and a 52-year member of Eastern Star Golden Chapter No. 120. A Republican municipal-county committeewoman for 30 years, she was also a board member of the Keyport Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Keyport Board of Health. She also served as chairwoman of the Keyport Constitutional Bicentennial Committee. She is survived by four cousins, Dorothy Scott of Holmdel, Donald Walling of Aberdeen, Mary Mundrane-Zweiacher of Delaware, and Kim Mundrane-Tuohy of Keyport. A funeral service was held at St. John’s United Methodist Church, followed by interment at Cedarwood Cemetery, Hazlet. EVELYN T. KING, 85, of Keyport died June 28 at Regency Park Nursing Home, Hazlet. Born in Sharon, Pa., she was a lifelong resident of Keyport. She was a supervisor for Atco Tile, Keyport, for 38 years. She was a communicant and Eucharistic minister at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a member of the church’s Altar Rosary Society, as well as the St. Paul’s Society. She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh King, in 1983; and her brother, Thomas Gunn, in 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Veronica Katsantonis of Keyport; and two granddaughters, Eleni Rigual of Bedminster, and Evelyn Ludwig of Keyport. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, followed by burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
IRMA N. MONTES DONASCIMENTO, 38, of the Belford section of Middletown died June 30 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she came to the United States in 1982 and lived in Jersey City prior to moving to Belford. She was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Bayonne, for 12 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Juan Edward Donascimento of Belford; her father, Ramon Montes; her son and daughter, Max and Gina Donascimento, both of Belford; two sisters, Sandra and Patricia Montes, both of Argentina; and her brother, Julian Montes of Argentina. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth, followed by interment at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo.
CHARLES "CHICK" L. SIMPSON, 78, of Middletown died July 1 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Montclair, he lived most of his life in Middletown. He was the owner and operator of C&A Autobody Shop, Keansburg, for 25 years upon retirement in 1990. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was predeceased by his daughter, Bernadette Simpson, in 1963. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Audrey Plant Simpson of Middletown; his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Robert Downes of Keansburg; two sisters, Dorothy Meisel of Denville, and Beaulah Worth of Iselin; three granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter. Visitation will be July 4 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral service will be held July 5 at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
