MARGARET LOWELL, 91, of Lakewood died June 27 in Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. Mrs. Lowell was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had lived in Middletown and Leesburg, Va., before moving to Lakewood two years ago. She was employed by the New York City Board of Education as a business education teacher at Jamaica and Bay Ridge high schools for 40 years, retiring in 1973. Her husband, John, died in 1977. Surviving are a son, John B. of Belford; and a sister, Mary Kemper of North Brunswick. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, Middletown. Interment
was in Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
MARGARET "PEGGY" ALLAIRE MacDONALD JEFFERY, 66, of Red Bank, died Jan. 17 at New York University Hospital, N.Y. Born in Red Bank, she previously lived in Lincroft and resided in Red Bank the past 10 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member and active with the Sunday school choir of the First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank-Tower Hill, Red Bank. She was president of the Lincroft Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the founding family of Allaire State Park. Her activities included volunteering at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, and serving as president of the Coordinating Council of Middletown South High School. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert G. and Margaret S. Sutton MacDonald. She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Jeffery Sr. of Red Bank; two sons, Robert Jeffery Jr. of Freehold and Peter M. Jeffery of Millstone; two sisters, Roberta Braswell of Shrewsbury and JoAnn Smiley of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and four grandchildren. Services were arranged by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, with a service at the First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank-Tower Hill. Interment

VIRGINIA "GINNY" M. O’BOYLE, 57, of Middletown died Jan. 18 at Jersey Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Eatontown. Born in New York City, she lived in Flanders prior to moving to Middletown in 1983. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She was a member of the Middletown Newcomers. She was predeceased by her brother, James Cunningham; and her parents, James and Anna Carroll Cunningham. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, John O’Boyle of Middletown; two sons, Devin M. and Cullen J. O’Boyle, both of Queens, N.Y.; a daughter, Colleen A. O’Boyle of San Diego, Calif.; and two sisters, Martha Maher and Kathleen Dunlop, both of Long Island, N.Y. Services were arranged by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A Mass was celebrated at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, followed by interment at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. THERESA ELIZABETH WOLF GRIGAS, 80, of Whiting, died Jan. 22 at Gambro Health Care Center, Neptune. Born in Guttenberg, she lived in Keansburg and Teaneck for 31 years before moving to Whiting 20 years ago. She was the secretary to the principal of Washington Irving Elementary School, Teaneck, for 11 years and retired in 1979. She was a member of and taught Sunday school at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Whiting. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the N.J. Education Association, Trenton. She was past president of the Teaneck Secretary Association, and former member of the Eastern Star Monarack Chapter, Teaneck. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Grigas, in 1994. She is survived by her son, J. Jay Grigas of New Milford; her daughter, Mary Ellen Mormon of Miami, Fla.; her sister, Agatha Waitt of Lincroft; and two nephews. Services were arranged by Waitt-Nelms Funeral Home, Morganville. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
CHARLES J. LOWTHER, 67, of Hazlet died Jan. 22 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Jersey City, he lived there until relocating in Hazlet, 41 years ago. He was an auto assembler for General Motors, Linden, for 30 years, and retired in 1993. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Lowther of Hazlet; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jeffrey Lowther of Asbury Park; Charles and Diane Lowther of Union Beach, and Ronald and Debra Lowther of Matawan; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Michele and Daniel Kelly of the Belford section of Middletown, Jacqueline and Scott Hicks of Keyport, and Jennifer Lowther of Hazlet; and nine grandchildren. CORA RIFENBURG BLEVINS, 73, of Middletown died Jan. 23 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Jersey City, she lived in California and Jersey City prior to moving to Middletown, 50 years ago. She was a homemaker and sang in the choir of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Keyport. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179 Women’s Auxiliary, Middletown. She was a volunteer at the Oncology Department of Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, and was a "Golden Star Mother." She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Lee Blevins, in 1997; and her son, Thomas Blevins Jr., in 1969. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney D. and Jeanne Blevins of Edison; her brother, Raymond Rifenburg of Middletown; two sisters, Mary Rifenburg of Middletown, and Edith Rifenburg of Jersey City; and two grandsons. GERALDINE A. BERNARD MORENZ, 59, of Cliffwood died Jan. 25 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Pennsylvania, she lived in Staten Island, N.Y., prior to moving to Cliffwood 35 years ago. She was a medical assistant for Dr. A. James Watt, Holmdel, for 15 years. She is survived by her husband, Herbert Morenz of Cliffwood; two sons, John Morenz of Cliffwood, and Michael Morenz of Union Beach; her daughter, Sharon O’Neill of Cliffwood; and two grandchildren. ELIZABETH "BETTY" M. GALLAGHER BELL, 68, of Hazlet died Jan. 28 at Meridian Health Care Center, Red Bank. Born in Yonkers, N.Y., she lived in Middletown for 34 years before moving to Hazlet 13 years ago. She was a food server for Middletown High School South, Middletown, for the past 19 years. She was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, East Keansburg section of Middletown. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, John W. Bell, in 1987. She is survived by her daughter, Linda M. Bell of Keansburg; her son, John W. Bell of West Orange; her brother, James Gallagher of Port Reading; four sisters, Mary Roche of Wall, Doris Walling of Absecon, Theresa Call of Hasbrouck Heights, and Joan Frazee of Toms River; and two grandchildren. ETHEL C. LEHANKA PERES, 81, of Hazlet died Jan. 29 at home. Born in New York City, she lived there until moving to Hazlet 40 years ago. She was a dietary aide for Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel, for 15 years, retiring in 1985. She was predeceased by her daughter, Carol Wagner, in 1997. She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and James Rinker of Tinton Falls, Susan and Gene Lenzen of Huntington, Conn., Jane and Edward Keenan of Hazlet, and Marilyn and Louis Crisitello of Hazlet; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jeannie Peres of Middletown; and two sisters, Margaret and brother-in-law Thomas Lavan of Point Pleasant, and Augusta Stapleton of the Bronx, N.Y. Services are under the direction of the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, with visitation Jan. 31, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and the Funeral Liturgy Feb. 1 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Union Beach.
