MARGARET V. RYAN STONE, 86, of Hendersonville, N.C., died Dec. 19 at Parkridge Hospital, Hendersonville. Born in New York City, she lived in Hazlet for 20 years before moving to Hendersonville several months ago. She was a school crossing guard for the New York City Police Department for several years. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Stone, in 2000. She is survived by two sons, Andrew P. Stone of El Cajon, Calif., and Harold P. Stone of the Belford section of Middletown; and a daughter, Barbara Ann Dytel of Hendersonville. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A Mass will be celebrated Jan. 6 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown.
FLORENCE SANDLER WALLACE, 83, of Middletown died Dec. 23 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was born in Perth Amboy. She was manager of her husband’s optometry practice in Middletown. She was also an optician and draftswoman. She was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom, Red Bank. She was a member of the Middletown Township Safety Council since the 1960s. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Irving S. Wallace of Middletown; a son, Hank Wallace of Washington, D.C.; and a brother, Sam Sandler of Highland Park. She willed her body to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark.
CATHERINE J. CURRAN DALTON, 78, of Brick Township died Dec. 27 at Shorrock Gardens Care Center, Brick. Born in Newfoundland, Canada, she previously lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., the Lincroft section of Middletown and Englishtown, before moving to Brick 18 months ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland Dalton, in 1982. She is survived by two sons, Edward Dalton of Great Kills, N.Y., and William Dalton of Brick; two daughters, Joan Conroy of Grant City, N.Y., and Brenda Schneiderman of Middletown; and two sisters, Alice Dwyer of Manhattan, N.Y., and Rita Costello of Brooklyn, N.Y. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, with a Mass at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft. Interment
was at Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y.
JOHN "JACK" J. MIRRO, 68, of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet died Dec. 28 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Union Beach, he lived in Keyport prior to moving to West Keansburg 43 years ago. He owned and operated Jack’s Horse Farm, West Keansburg, for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he attained the rank of corporal. He was an avid horseman and trainer and was a founding member of the Central Jersey Horseman’s Association. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ann Snyder Mirro of West Keansburg; a son, John A. Mirro of West Keansburg; three daughters, Theresa Marty of Tinton Falls, Lu-Ann Mirro of West Keansburg, and Patricia Lanno of Hazlet; three brothers, Alfred Mirro of Hazlet, Frank Mirro of Holmdel, and Robert Mirro of Colts Neck; a sister, Alice Brown of Arizona; and four grandchildren. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Interment
was at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown.
HELEN "CHICKIE" I. WALPOLE REISTER, 77, of Middletown died Dec. 28 at the Center for Hospice Care at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she moved to Middletown eight years ago. She was a keypunch operator for Zales Jewelers, New York City, for several years before retiring 40 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, East Keansburg section of Middletown. She was a member of the Bayshore Senior Citizens, Middletown. She is survived by two sons, Michael Reister of Nassau, N.Y., and Harold Reister of Queens, N.Y.; two daughters, Lorraine and Doreene Reister, both of Middletown; and a sister, Eleanor Marotta of Port St. Lucie, Fla. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, with a Mass celebrated at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church. Entombment was at Fair View Mausoleum, Middletown.
GEORGE W. ROSS II, 53, of Middletown died Dec. 28 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, he previously lived in Keyport before moving to Middletown seven years ago. He was a chemical operator for International Flavors and Fragrances, Hazlet, for 30 years. He was a member of the Middletown Elks Lodge. He was a field official for more than 20 years for the Shore Conference Football Field, Middletown. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Ross, in 1995; and his son, George W. Ross III. He is survived by two daughters, MaryJo Urbealiss of Middletown, and Lisa Ross of Matawan; a brother, James Ross of Mission Viejo, Calif.; his companion, Maureen Burke of Middletown; and two grandchildren. Services were arranged by Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass was celebrated at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach, with entombment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
RICHARD THEODORE BEZANSON, 73, of the Belford section of Middletown, died Dec. 29 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Milton, Mass., he lived in Belford the past 40 years. He was a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service, Red Bank, for 15 years, before retiring in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict, and attained the rank of sergeant first class. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was predeceased by his brother, Howard Bezanson. He is survived by his wife, Prassede "Sadie" Della Zanna Bezanson of Belford; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert R. and Patricia Bezanson of Mexico Beach, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mirella and Bill Rongo, and Sandra and Keith Marchese, all of Belford; three brothers, Robert Bezanson of Tucson, Ariz., Edward Bezanson of Helena, Mont., and Bert Wells of Sabasco, Maine; and a sister, Barbara Fisler of Seattle. ALEXANDER WILSON JR., 61, of the East Keansburg section of Middletown died Dec. 30 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Casey, Ill., he resided in East Keansburg for 34 years. He was a labor foreman for Labor International Union of America, Local 779, Somerville, for 38 years, retiring in 1998. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Beverly A. Wilson of East Keansburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Tony Soldo of Middletown, and Loren and Shawn Hughes of Atlantic Highlands; a son, Alexander W. Wilson of Atlantic Highlands; five sisters, Christine Taylor, Rose Norris, Carole Clark, Janet Baxter and Anna Wilson, all of Jacksonville, Ill.; two granddaughters and two grandsons. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A Mass was celebrated at St. Catherine’s Church, North Middletown, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
CARMELA MATERA CAPUTO, 89, of Hazlet died Dec. 31 at Holmdel Convalescent Center, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived there until moving to Hazlet five years ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond J. Caputo, in 1999. She is survived by two sons, Donato Caputo of Long Island, N.Y., and Ralph Caputo of Peoria, Ariz.; a daughter, Rose Ann Halliwell of Hazlet; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday at 8 a.m. at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, followed by a funeral liturgy at 9:15 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment
will be at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
ANGELINA "JEANIE" SATRIANO BROSNAHAN, 60, of the Belford section of Middletown died Jan. 1 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived there until moving to Belford 25 years ago. She was a data base specialist for Prudential Insurance, Holmdel, for five years, until 1997. She was a member of the Lincroft Bible Church, Lincroft, and was active in its choir and taught Bible school. She was predeceased by her first husband, Richard Bair Sr., in 1976. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Brosnahan, of Belford; her mother, Mary Louis Catalano of Port Richie, Fla.; two daughters, Deborah Martin of Rouge Mountain, N.C., and Maria Merse of East Brunswick; two sons, Richard Bair Jr. of Telford, Pa., and Dennis Bair of Southampton, Pa.; two sisters, Rose Marie May of St. Paul, Minn., and Pauline Nasby of Hugo, Maine; a brother, Paul Satriano of Minnesota; and a stepmother, Catherine Satriano of St. Paul, Minn. Services will be held today at 1:15 p.m. at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, followed by a service at 2 p.m. at Lincroft Bible Church. Interment
