GERALD J. BUCCAFUSCO, 53, of the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge died Sept. 8 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are his wife, Bernadette Byrne Buccafusco, and a daughter, Jessica Buccafusco, at home. A Mass is planned for 9 a.m. on Sept. 12 in St. Lawrence Church, Lawrence Harbor. Private Cremation will follow.
LILLIAN V. LAUL TOBIAS, 71, of South River died Sept. 7 at home. She was a lunch aide at South River Elementary School from 1979-2000. Her husband, Andrew "Toby" Tobias, died in March. Surviving are four sons, Wayne Laul, John Ciak and Andrew Tobias Jr., all of South River, and Stanley Ciak of California; four daughters, Cindy Wilczynski, Mary Lister and Lillian Tobias, all of South River, and Andrea Santos of Sayreville; two brothers, Jacob Laul of Pennsylvania and William Laul of Califon; two sisters, Mildred Conrad of the Iselin section of Woodbridge and May Rosinski of Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South River. Interment

GENEVIEVE BONCZEK PRUSARCZYK, 85, of South River died Sept. 5 at home. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Prusarczyk, and a son, Richard R. Prusarczyk. Surviving are a daughter, Arlene Novak of South River; a son, Joseph Prusarczyk of Kresgeville, Pa.; a sister, Aldona Przybylowski of Sayreville; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.
VINCENT A. MASSANO, 75, of Old Bridge died Sept. 6 in Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Surviving are his wife, Claire E. Probst Massano; two sons, James of Monroe and Thomas of Brick; a brother, Louis of the Toms River section of Dover; two sisters, Julia DiFeo of Spring Lake and Frances Eakin of Bayonne; and four grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Most Holy Redeemer Church, Old Bridge. Interment

DAVID M. JEWETT, 78, of East Brunswick died Sept. 9 at home. Surviving are his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" White; a daughter, Barbara Jewett Noyes of Shelburne, Vt.; two sons, David G. Jewett of Ada, Okla., and Richard Jewett of East Brunswick; a sister, Barbara McNicoll of Seattle; and seven grandchildren. Services are planned for 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 13 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, East Brunswick. Private interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. HELEN BOSHNACK STRASSBERG, 78, of Monroe died Sept. 9 at home. Surviving are her husband, Maurice "Murray" Strassberg; two sons, Steven of Newton, Mass., and Roy of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Victoria of Lady Lakes, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Sophie Rose, Lilly Rebecca, David Samuel and Jennifer Rachel. Graveside services were held at Floral Park Cemetery, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
JOHN ROMAGNA, 72, of Milltown died Sept. 7 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. A daughter, Diane Romagna, died in 2000. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Criss Romagna; a son, James Romagna of Milltown; and a brother, Roy Romagna of East Brunswick. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Milltown. Interment

EDNA MAE BETZLER SPRENG, 86, of East Brunswick died Sept. 3 at home. She was predeceased by her husband, John Spreng. She is survived by three daughters, Joan Benedict of Concord, Vt., and Joyce Podwats and Theresa Alessi, both of East Brunswick; two sisters, Rosemary Brainard of South River and Florence Pychevicz of Whitefield, N.H.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment
was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
JOHN CHOU, 52, of East Brunswick died Sept. 5 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Amy Chou; two daughters, Angela Chou and Catherine Chou, both of Houston; his mother, Shay-Fei Chu Chou of East Brunswick; a brother, Joseph Chou of Queens, N.Y.; and two sisters, Maria Chou of East Brunswick and Dr. Lucia Chou of Fairfield, Conn. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Entombment was in Holy Cross Mausoleum, South Brunswick.
JULIA SLACHTA CARBONE, 74, of Hillsborough, formerly of South River, died Sept. 9 in Somerville Medical Center, Somerset section of Franklin. Her husband, Ralph Carbone Jr., died in 1998. Surviving are two sons, Ralph of East Brunswick and Robin of Hillsborough; four brothers, Steve of Pennsylvania, Charles of Coral Gables, Fla., Andy of Boston and John of Cape Coral, Fla.; and three grandchildren. A memorial service is planned at 2 p.m. on Sept. 13 at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick.
