Willie M. Bell
LAKE BROWNWOOD, Texas -- Services for Willie Mae Bell of Lake Brownwood, mother of Judy Green of Lovington, will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Ken Colegrove will officiate. Burial will follow at the Eastlawn Memorial Cemetery in Early.
Mrs. Bell, 82, died Saturday, July 15, at her home. She was born in New Boston.
She was a resident of Lake Brownwood for the past 10 years. She was a retired teacher and a member of Brownwood Evangelism Center.
Mrs. Bell was also a member of the National Education Association and the National Arbor Day Foundation.
Other survivors include two sons, Dennis Wynne of Pleasanton and Randy Wynne of Houston; two more daughters, Billie Murdock of Morton and Mary Powell of Lake Brownwood; a brother, David Gulley of Sulphur Springs; two sisters, Owren Dunn of Gulfport, Miss., and Jessie Johnson of Sulphur Springs; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Her parents, William and Lillie Gulley; a brother; and three grandsons preceded her in death.
Hynson A. Shelton
Services for Hynson Austin Shelton of Hobbs will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church.
The Rev. Thomas H. Martin will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Haven Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
Mr. Shelton, 87, died Saturday, July 15, at Lea Regional Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1913, in Hico, Texas. He and his wife, Madeliene, were married on Oct. 21, 1933, in Tahoka. She preceded him in death in 1997.
He was a longtime resident of Hobbs, moving here in 1936. He worked for the Hobbs Ice Co. before becoming a painting contractor. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, having served as a deacon. He taught Sunday school for 9-year-old boys for many years.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Shelton of Hobbs; a daughter, Janece Cox of Frisco, Texas; two brothers, Travis D. Shelton of Lubbock, Texas, and Marshall L. Shelton of Stephenville, Texas; a sister, Avis E. Maeker of Tahoka, Texas; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
His parents, Sanford and Lena Ansley Shelton; a brother, Milton Shelton; and two sisters, Leola Waldrip and Estelle Alderson, also preceded him in death.

Antonio Garcia II
Services for Antonio Garcia II of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, at St. Helena Catholic Church.
The Rev. Don Adamski will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
Mr. Garcia, 49, died Saturday, July 15, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born April 21, 1951, in Las Vegas, Nev. He married Victorina Garcia.
Mr. Garcia was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1970, where he played football and baseball.
Mr. Garcia was a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University. He coached USSSA girls softball, boys soccer for eight years and basketball for two years.
He retired from the State of New Mexico office of Adult Protective Services and Children, Youth and Family Service Department.
Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Antonio Garcia III of Hobbs; three daughters, Elizabeth Garcia of Hobbs, Cecilia Garcia of Las Cruces and Barbara Garcia of Roswell; a brother, Jose Encinias of Albuquerque; four sisters, Lucille Ulibarri of Carlsbad, Priscilla Mestas of Clovis, Connie Bargas of Midland, Texas, and Anna Solano of Hobbs; and four grandchildren.
His parents, Antonio and Veneranda Garcia, preceded him in death.
J.C. Bradshaw
A funeral for J.C. Bradshaw, 71, of Hobbs, will be at 2 p.m. today at Northside Baptist Church with Jake Armstrong officiating.
Burial, under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery.
Mr. Bradshaw was born Nov. 23, 1928, in New Boston, Texas.
He married Freddie L. Franks on June 30, 1948, in Horatio, Ark., and worked in the logging industry for a short while before moving to West Texas.
After working in Midland, Lubbock and Snyder, Mr. Bradshaw moved to Hobbs in 1960 and founded Hobbs Tank and Treater Service with his brother-in-law, the late John W. Franks.
Mr. Bradshaw retired in 1994.
He is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Paula Shipp and Susan Cheaney, both of Midland; five brothers, W.D. Bradshaw of Lockesburg, Ark., E.H. Bradshaw of Eagletown, Okla., C.M. Bradshaw of Gladewater, Texas, Archie Bradshaw of Arlington, Texas, and Larry Bradshaw of De Queen, Ark.; four sisters, Clara Shaw of Horatio, Ark., Bonnie McGhee of Pottsboro,Texas, Yvonne Lenhard of Orange, Texas, and Lorene Adams of Paris, Texas; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, W.A. and Lora Eunice Bradshaw, and two sisters, Nadine Waters and Dessie Taylor, preceded him in death.

Maddison G. Bova
SPRINGDALE, Ark. - Services for Maddison Grace Bova, infant granddaughter of Stevan and Cynthia Pearce of Hobbs, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, at Sisco Chapel of Springdale.
John Marquett will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.
Maddison was born and died Tuesday, July 11, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Other survivors include her parents of the home, Craig and Lori Ard Bova of Springdale; grandparents, Frank and Barbara Bova of Springdale, and Harry and Bonnie Ard of Midland, Texas; great-grandparents, Melvin and Jane Pearce of College Station, Texas, and Albert and Eva Ard of Chatom, Ala.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
James S. Parks
LOVINGTON -- Services for James Sherman Parks of Lovington will be held at 10 a.m. on July 15 at the American Legion Hall in Lovington.
The Rev. Leon Green officiated. Cremation was under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.
Mr. Parks, 68, died Tuesday, July 4, at his home. He was born on May 30, 1932, in Amherst, Texas, to Ira and Lillian Parks. He married Sadie Burkett on June 23, 1955. She died on Oct. 20, 1985. He later married Nannie Magaret Callaway on Sept. 20, 1991.
He moved to Hobbs in 1939, where he finished school. He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Parks worked for Coastal Corp. from 1983 to 1988. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, VFW, American Legion Post No. 68, AARP, and active member of the Senior Citizens Center in Lovington.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four step-children, Jim Lee Reed, Johnny Earl Hankins, Donna Jo Hoy and Graham Lyn Hankins Jr., all of Louisiana.; a sister, Winona Saling of Brownwood, Texas; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
His parents, Ira and Lillian Parks; a brother, Ira Windford Parks; and a sister, Imogene Morris, also preceded him in death.
Douglas F. Blackburn
LUBBOCK, Texas -- Memorial services for former Hobbsan Douglas F. Blackburn of Lubbock will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, at Second Baptist Church.
The Rev. Charles F. Johnson and the Rev. Art Brewer will officiate. Cremation will take place under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Mr. Blackburn, 75, died Monday, July 10, at Lubbock Health Care. He was born April 1, 1925, in Ogden, Utah. He married O'Veta Morris in Lubbock on May 10, 1945.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
After receiving his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University in 1945, he became the distribution engineer for Lubbock Power and Light and was a partner in the consulting engineering firm of Colwell, Wentworth and Associates.
Mr. Blackburn was director of utilities for the City of Denton from 1968 to 1976 and operations manager for the North Texas Municipal Water District of the Dallas area from 1976 to 1978.
In September of 1978 he became manager of engineering for New Mexico Electric Service Co. in Hobbs, retiring in 1990 after its merger with Southwestern Public Service.
He moved back to Lubbock in 1997.
He served as a deacon, choir member and tenor soloist at Second Baptist Church in Lubbock. He was a past president of the Texas Municipal League, former chairman of the Texas Power Pool, executive committee of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, past president of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers, South Plains Lions Club, Lea County Professional Engineers and Southeastern New Mexico Genealogical Society of Hobbs.
Mr. Blackburn was a founder of the Parkinson's Support Group in Hobbs, an affiliate of the National Parkinson Foundation and the American Parkinson Disease Association.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Marcia Smyth of Irving, Calif.; two brothers, Dale of Fresno, Calif., and Thair of Ogden, Utah; a sister, Darlene Byington of Ogden; and a grandson.
His parents, Oriel H. and Katie Fife Blackburn; two sisters; and a brother preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
William D. Hood
LAS CRUCES - Memorial services for former Hobbs resident William D. Hood will be held Thursday, July 13, in Las Cruces.
Mr. Hood, 77, died Sunday, July 9, in Las Cruces. He was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Lakeview, Texas. He married Mary Virginia Amick in 1948 in Clovis.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following the war, he worked in finance and business in West Texas and eastern New Mexico.
He moved to Farmington in 1953, where he owned an insurance agency. In 1957, he sold the agency and moved to Albuquerque where he became the manager of Prudential. He was the first member of the Million Dollar Roundtable in New Mexico for the company.
Mr. Hood moved to Hobbs in 1961 and was co-owner of an insurance agency until his retirement in 1984. He was president of the Independent Insurance Agents of New Mexico from 1970 to 1971. In 1993, he moved to Green Valley, Ariz. He moved to Las Cruces in May of this year.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Patti Patridge of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a son, Mike Hood of Las Cruces; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Las Cruces or the American Cancer Society.
Ollie M. Burnam
PUTNAM, Texas - Services for Ollie May Burnam of Putnam, mother of Glenn Burnam of Hobbs, were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 10, at Parker Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Joe Coppinger officiated. Burial followed in the Putnam Cemetery under the direction of Parker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Burnam, 97, died Friday, July 7, in an Alvarado, Texas, nursing home. She was born in Cottonwood, Texas. She married Mark Burnam on Dec. 5, 1920, in Moran, Texas. He preceded her in death.
She had lived in the Putnam area of Callahan County all of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Putnam and Putnam Study Club.
Other survivors include two daughters, Retha Brown of Weatherford, and Gayle Isenhower of Coleman; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
George H. Hamlin
TATUM -- Services for George Henry Hamlin of Tatum will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, at Church of the Nazarene in Tatum.
Bobby Cullon will officiate. Burial will follow in the Tatum Cemetery under the direction of Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.
Mr. Hamlin, 77, died Monday, July 10, at Lea Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 15, 1922, in Roswell. He married Gloria Berryhill on Nov. 13, 1946, in Portales.
He was a member of the Nazarene faith. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, George T. Hamlin of Tatum; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Hilda M. Johnson
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Services for former Hobbs resident Hilda Mae Johnson of Arlington will be held on Thursday, July 13, at Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Cedar Hill.
Bobby Tillison will officiate. Burial will follow in Little Bethel Memorial Park in Duncanville.
Mrs. Johnson, 74, died Friday, July 7, at her home. She was born June 17, 1926, in Dallas, Texas. She was married to Cecil L. Johnson for 50 years before he died.
She was a resident of Arlington Park Plaza Retirement Residence and a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Cedar Hill.
She retired after 42 years of nursing service. The last 18 years were at Norte Vista Medical Center in Hobbs.
Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Baylor University School of Nursing in 1946.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Beaty and Beverly Frasier; three sons, Cecil Ray Johnson, Kenneth Johnson and John Johnson; three sisters, Harriett Geyer, Mildred Parker and Maydella Hawkins; and a brother, James Morgan.
Beulah K. Hobbs
RUIDOSO - Services for Beulah K. Hobbs of Ruidoso, a member of the original Lea County pioneer family that founded Hobbs, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Gateway Church of Christ.
Thurman Hux will officiate. Burial will follow in the Angus Cemetery under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Hobbs, 84, died Sunday, July 9, in Ruidoso. She was born July 12, 1915, in Muleshoe, Texas.
She was a former member of the Farwell Ladies Club. She had retired as administrative secretary to the Parmer County judge. She moved to the Alto area in 1983 from Farwell and was a member of Gateway Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, James Hobbs of Alto and Walt Moeller of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; two daughters, Camille Hux of Fulton, Mo., and Vicki Rowe of Alamogordo; a brother, Gene Kistler of California; and 12 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Services of Lincoln County at Gateway Church of Christ.
Leora C. Lee
LOVINGTON - Services for Leora Culp Lee of Lovington will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, at First Baptist Church.
The Rev. Harry Pittam will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lovington Cemetery under the direction of Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lee, 91, died Saturday, July 8, at Nor-Lea General Hospital. She was born Oct. 26, 1908, in Marathon, Texas. She married R.D. Lee Jr. on April 6, 1930, in Lovington.
She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lee came to Lea County in 1909 and was from a pioneer ranching family.
She graduated from Lovington High School and attended Highland University for two years. She was a past member of the Lovington Women's Club and the Wednesday Bridge Club.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Bill Lee, former state senator of Lovington; two grandsons; and a granddaughter.
Ollie M. Burnam
PUTNAM, Texas - Services for Ollie May Burnam of Putnam, mother of John Burnam of Hobbs, were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 10, at Parker Funeral Home Chapel.
The Rev. Joe Coppinger officiated. Burial followed in the Putnam Cemetery under the direction of Parker Funeral Home.

Crissie Theodocia Alsup Brandon
Services for Crissie Theodocia Alsup Brandon of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 10, at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
Burial will follow the service at West End Cemetery in Stephenville, Texas.
Brandon, 88, died On Friday, July 7 at Lea Regional Medical Center in Hobbs. She was born on February 3, 1912, in Stephenville, Texas.
Mrs. Brandon married Luther Preston Brandon on March 17, 1934 in Stephenville, Texas.
She lived in Erath County and Stephenville, Texas until moving to Hobbs in 1988. She was a member of Tarlton Height Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son, Preston J "Buck" Brandon; one granddaughter and one grandson; and two great grandsons.
Her parents, Larkin and Ella Alsup; husband, Luther Brandon; a daughter, Judy Kay Brandon Kathy; a son, James Brandon; and five brothers and one sister.
Visitation for Mrs. Brandon will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today. Contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation or American Heart Association.
Glenda J. Chapman
Services for Glenda Jean Chapman of Jal will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 10, at Calvary Baptist Church in Jal under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home.
The Rev. Alan Speed of Calvary Baptist Church in Jal, Rev. Keeney Dickenson of First Baptist Church in Eunice and Rev. Dorman of LaMesa, Texas will officiate.
Interment will follow at 4 p.m. Monday, July 10, at LaMesa Memorial Park in LaMesa, Texas.
Mrs. Chapman, 59, died Friday, July 7 at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, Texas. She was born on August 3, 1940 in LaMesa, Texas.
Chapman moved from LaMesa, Texas to Eunice in 1970 and then to Jal in 1975. She taught freshman and sophomore English for 24 years in the Eunice Public School System before retiring in 1995.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Chapman of Jal; two sons, Rodney Chapman of Eunice and Wayne Chapman of LaMesa, Texas; one daughter, Theresa Boone of Eunice; two sisters, Nelva Koehler of LaMesa, Texas and Gloria Payne of Midland, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Cecil M. Jones
LOVINGTON - Services for Cecil Maurice Jones, a longtime Lovington resident, will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Third and Central Church of Christ.
Dan Morris will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lovington Cemetery under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jones, 89, died Thursday, July 6. She was born April 7, 1911, in Haskell, Texas. She married Leeman W. Jones on Nov. 27, 1928, in Odessa, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1982.
She was a member of Third and Central Church of Christ in Lovington. She was a retired porcelain artist, having owned and operated a china painting studio in Lovington for more than 40 years.
Mrs. Jones had been a member of the Lovington Porcelain Art Club, the Chaparral Porcelain Art Club of Hobbs, Sweetwater China Painters Guild, the Lubbock, Texas, China Painter Guild and the Llano Estacado Porcelain Art Club of Seminole. She had also been a member of the New Mexico and Texas Federation of China Painters and had served on the board of the Texas group.
Survivors include a daughter, Irma Lee Aduddell of Lovington; 10 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and five nieces.
A son, Leeman Keith Jones; a great-grandson, Jason Ham; and a great-granddaughter, Nora Lee Attaway, also preceded her in death.
Johnnie Stanford Fitzgerald Sr.
Services for Johnnie Stanford Fitzgerald Sr., of Fort Davis, Texas, will be held at 6 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Davis.
The Rev. Dale Parker will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Fort Davis. Visitation will be take place Saturday at Geeslin Funeral Home in Alpine.
Fitzgerald, 82, died Thursday at his home. He was born Dec. 25, 1917, in Bandera, Texas. His daughter, Elizabeth Posey, lives in Hobbs.
A resident of Fort Davis for 70 years, Fitzgerald was a self-employed rancher, cowboy and horse-trainer. He married Margaret Duncan on July 3, 1939, in Pecos, Texas. She preceded him in death on Feb. 29, 1996. Fitzgerald married Sondra de Zambrano on May 2, 1998, in Fort Davis.
Fitzgerald was a member of the National Cutting Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. He was a Presbyterian.
Other survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, John Fitzgerald of Marfa; two sisters, Lucille Steele of Blanco, Texas, and Mildred Cox of Austin; two brothers, Ray Fitzgerald of San Angelo and Jack Fitzgerald of Victoria; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Also preceding Fitzgerald in death were two sisters, Dorothy Mathis and Ruth Marsh.
