Glenda Chapman
EUNICE - Services are pending with Calvary Funeral Home for Glenda Chapman of Jal.
Mrs. Chapman, 59, died Friday, July 7, at Midland Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 3, 1940, in Lamesa, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Chapman of the home; two sons, Wayne Chapman of Lamesa and Rodney Chapman of Eunice; and one daughter, Teresa Boone of Eunice.
Crissie T. Brandon
Services are pending with Griffin Funeral Home for Crissie Thedocia Alsup Brandon of Hobbs.
Mrs. Brandon, 88, died Friday, July 7, at Lea Regional Medical Center. She was born Feb. 3, 1912, in Stephenville, Texas.
Immediate survivors include a son, Preston J. (Buck) Brandon.
Billy G. Baker
Graveside services and burial for Billy G. "B. G." Baker of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at Prairie Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Graveside rites will be conducted by the American Veterans Honor Guard.
Mr. Baker, 72, died Wednesday, July 5, at his home. He was born July 30, 1927, in Moravia, Okla. He married Eva Preston on Nov. 22, 1946, in Littlefield, Texas.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He had worked for Halliburton Service Co. for over 35 years.
Mr. Baker was a member of First Baptist Church in Lovington.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Ricky Baker of Grand Junction, Colo., Lonnie Baker of Kerrville, Texas, and Michael Baker of Hobbs; a daughter, Janice Jackson of Carlsbad; his father, Seth "Buster" Baker of Odessa; a brother, Jerry Don Baker of Andrews, Texas; four sisters, Modell Willis of Midland, Wanda Lewis of Utopia, Texas, Barbara Blassingame of Vega, Texas, and Ava Nell Smith of Tennessee; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
His mother, Oma Baker; two brothers, Dewey Baker and Alvin Baker; and a sister, Peggy Sue Baker, preceded him in death.
Ina B. Edwards
Graveside services for Ina Bell Edwards of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, at Brunson Memorial Cemetery in Eunice under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home.
Eli Borden of Taylor Street Church of Christ in Hobbs will officiate.
Mrs. Edwards, 83, died Wednesday, July 5, at Sun Bridge Retirement Center in Hobbs. She was born May 9, 1917, in Chico, Texas.
Edwards moved to this area from Kermit, Texas, in 1949. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Norman of Las Vegas, Nev., and David Colvin of Hobbs; two daughters, Betty Plyer of Fort Worth, Texas, and Pat Patterson of Hobbs; four sisters Flossey Hensley of Wichita Falls, Jessie Lance of Jal, Mable Barkhouser of Ohio and Sylvia Crook of Wichita Falls; two brothers Billy Barnett of Wichita Falls, and Ocie Barnett also of Wichita Falls; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents and one brother, Johnny Colvin, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Omar J. Prieto
Services for Omar Justin Prieto of Hobbs has been changed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at St. Helena Catholic Church.
Susan M. Wilson
Memorial services for Susan M. Wilson of Hobbs will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 7, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Daniel Miller and the Rev. David Matkins will officiate. Burial will be held at 4 p.m. CDT at Tahoka, Texas, Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Ms. Wilson, 20, died Monday, July 3, in Seminole, Texas. She was born Nov. 20, 1979, in Odessa, Texas.
She graduated from Sinagua High School in Flagstaff, Ariz., in 1998. She was a student at New Mexico Junior College. Ms. Wilson was a staff member at the Hobbs Teen Center and a nursery worker at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
Survivors include her father, Andy T. Wilson of Flagstaff; her mother and stepfather, Linda and Alan Reder of Hobbs; a brother, Rick Malta of Dallas, Texas; her grandparents, Van Greene of Lubbock, Texas, and Joe and Marlene Edelen of Missouri City, Texas; two uncles; and three aunts.
Her grandmother, Betty Greene, preceded her in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Omar, 12, was killed in an automobile accident on Tuesday, July 4, in Eddy County. He was born July 14, 1987, in Hobbs.
He would have been an eighth-grade student at Highland Junior High School in the fall. He was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church.
Survivors include his parents, Leonel and Aracely Prieto of Hobbs; a sister, Monica Prieto of Hobbs; a brother, Rudy Marin of Hobbs; grandparents, Socorro and Guadalupe Castillo of Hobbs and Hermila and Roberto Prieto of Mexico; great-grandfather, Matias Acosta of Hobbs; and a great-grandmother, Juana Quiroz.
A sister, Anita Prieto; his great-grandfather; two uncles; and a cousin preceded him in death.
Kara Lyn Pearson
A celebration of the life of Kara Lyn Pearson of Farmington will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at Steed-Todd Funeral Chapel in Clovis.
Dr. Hurbert Bergstrom will officiate.
Ms. Pearson, 32, died June 28 at San Juan Regional Hospital in Farmington. She was awaiting a donor match for a bone marrow transplant at the time of her death. She was born June 3, 1968 in El Paso, Texas.
Ms. Pearson, whose father Tony Pearson lives in Hobbs, was a 1986 graduate of Clovis High School and was active in volleyball and basketball. She was on the honor roll throughout her school years and was on the dean's honor roll at New Mexico State University in 1987.
She worked as a paralegal at Crane and Tejada law firm in Durango, Colo., prior to her illness. She was preceded in death by grandfathers Paul Pearson and Lewis Crow.
Other survivors include her mother Bobbie Johnson and step-father Swede Johnson of Clovis; step-mother Anna Pearson of Hobbs; a brother, Kevin Pearson of Albuquerque; grandmothers Sue Crow of Clovis and Thama Pearson Combs of Hereford, Texas, and step-grandfather Mutt Wheeler of Hereford, Texas.

Reba Ivey
A memorial service for Reba Ivey, mother of Larry Squires of Hobbs, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Gateway Church of Christ in Ruidoso with Jimmy Sportsman officiating.
Mrs. Ivey, 87, of Ruidoso, died Saturday, July 1, at her home. She was born Sept. 29, 1912 in Sentinel, Okla.
She moved to Ruidoso in 1968 from Lovington and was a retired rancher. She was a member of Gateway Church of Christ.
Other survivors include three grandchildren, Susan Foster, Bill Squires and Ron Squires.
Memorials may be made to Gateway Church of Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso.
Susan Wilson
Services are pending with Chapel of Hope for Susan M. Wilson of Hobbs.
Ms. Wilson, 20, died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Monday, July 3, in Seminole. She was born Nov. 20, 1979, in Odessa, Texas.
Juan Delgado Avila
Services for Juan Delgado Avila of Hobbs will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at Victory Center.
The Rev. Fabian Sena will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home.
Mr. Avila, 78, died Sunday, July 2, at his home. He was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Chihuahua, Mexico. He married Bertha Avila on May 31, 1942, in Chihuahua.
He worked as a custodian for Victory Center Church.
He moved to Lea County in 1980 from Chihuahua.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Johnny Valenzuela and Ruben Avila, both of Hobbs, and Luis Avila of Chihuahua; two daughters, Yolanda Edwards and Bertha Valenzuela, both of Hobbs; three brothers, Jesus Avila and Elias Avila, both of Chihuahua, and Feliziano Avila of El Paso; four sisters, Magdalena Molina and Guadalupe Godinez, both of El Paso, Elena Hernandez of Delicias Chihuahua, Mexico, and Lucia Holguin of Chihuahua; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Maria Ramirez
Services for Maria Ramirez of Jal will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at First Baptist Church of Jal.
The Rev. Elio Barrios will officiate. Burial will follow at Jal Cemetery under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday.
Mrs. Ramirez, 90, died Monday, July 3, at her home. She was born July 16, 1910 in Coyame Chihuahua, Mexico.
Mrs. Ramirez moved from Crane, Texas to Jal in 1985.
Survivors include a son, Jesus Ramirez, of Monument; and two daughters, Socerro Lujan of Jal and Manuela Herrera of Farmington.
Mrs. Ramirez is preceded in death by her husband Manuel Ramirez in 1980.
Jeffery L. Young
Services for Jeffery Leonard Young of Hobbs will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Northside Baptist Church.
The Rev. Shawn Drake of Bel Aire Baptist Church and the Rev. Jake Armstrong will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.

He was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Mr. Avila, 77, died Sunday, July 2, at his home in Hobbs. He was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Chihuahua.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha Avila of the home; three sons, Johnny Valenzuela and Ruben Avila, both of Hobbs, and Luis Avila of Chihuahua; and two daughters, Yolanda Edwards and Bertha Valenzuela, both of Hobbs.
Robert Jelinek
The name of the city where Mr. Jelinek's son lives was incorrectly listed in Sunday's paper. His son, Mark Jelinek, is from Bloomsburg, Pa.
Memorial contributions may also be made to the charity of one's choice, as well as the Southwest Symphony endowment fund.

Mrs. Ramirez, 89, died Tuesday, July 3, at her home. She was born July 16, 1910, in Coyame Chihuahua, Mexico.
Immediate survivors include a son, Jesus Ramirez of Monument, and two daughters, Socorro Lujan of Jal and Manuela Herrera of Farmington.
John B. Jackson
NORTHGLENN, Colo. - Services were held Thursday for Northglenn resident John B. Jackson, father of Robert C. Jackson and Catherine M. Emery, both of Hobbs.
Burial followed in the military cemetery at Fort Logan.
Jackson, 72, died Monday, June 26, in Northglenn. He was born Sept. 29, 1927, in
Detroit, Mich. He married Shirley J. Funk on June 12, 1950, in Denver, Colo.
Mr. Jackson was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was member of the Northglenn American Legion and the Moose Lodge.
Other survivors include his wife of the home; four more sons, Joel B. Jackson of Great Bend, Kan., Mark A. Jackson of Federal Heights and Dale E. Jackson of Capitan; two more daughters, Sandra J. Jackson of Thornton and Rita White of Ontario, Canada; one sister, Kay Mahoney also of Ontario; and nine grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
