Christopher L. Ivy
Services for Christopher Lynn Ivy of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bethany Funeral Home Chapel.
Dan Morris will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lovington Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Ivy, 22, died Wednesday, June 28. He was born Oct. 5, 1977, in Hobbs.
He was a lifetime resident of Lea County. He attended Lovington elementary schools and Hobbs High School.
Survivors include his father, Jack Ivy of Amarillo; his mother, Donna Head of Hobbs; three brothers, Michael Nathanial Sneed of Vernal, Utah, Jerrod Cole Sneed of Hobbs and Brady Ivy of Amarillo; two sisters, Ame Leal and Sarah Ivy, both of Amarillo; paternal grandparents, Jack Ivy of Dilly, Texas and DeAnna Maramontes of Los Lunas; maternal grandmother, Nell Marler of Lovington; and paternal great-grandmother, Edna Ware of Brownfield.
His grandfather, Claude Edwin Marler, preceded him in death in 1993.
Tina M. Bruton
PLAINS, Texas -- Services for former Hobbsan Tina Marie Bruton of Plains will be held at 2 p.m. CDT on Friday at the First Assembly of God Church in Denver City.
The Rev. Ronnie Lunsford will officiate. Burial will follow in Denver City Memorial Park under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bruton, 30, died Tuesday, June 27, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born June 20, 1970, in Denver City. She married Kevin Bruton on Aug. 29, 1985, in Plains.
She lived in Hobbs for a year, prior to moving to Plains. She was a minister of the Assembly of God Church and a member of the Ministerial Alliance.
Mrs. Bruton worked with the youth while living in Denver City.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Scott Bruton of the home; a daughter, Tiffany Bruton of the home; her father, Leon Kelley of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf; her mother, Peggy Roberson of Denver City; two brothers, Melvin Kelley of Denver City and Larry Kelley of Bahrain; and a sister, Tammy Cox of Hammond, La.

Mr. Ivy, 23, died Wednesday, June 28.

Randall (R.D.) Ferguson
PORTALES - Services for former Jal resident Randall (R.D.) Ferguson of Portales will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales.
Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery.
Mr. Ferguson, 29, died Sunday, June 25, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born April 13, 1971, in Fort Hood, Texas.
He had lived in Copperas Cove, Texas, later moving to Jal and residing there until 1987. At that time, he moved to Littlefield, Texas, where he graduated from high school in 1989.
Following graduation, Mr. Ferguson worked in numerous jobs in Dallas, Texas. He attended colleges at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, and Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, where he moved in the summer of 1999.
While living in Portales, he was employed at Heflin Construction and later at the Cattle Baron restaurant and as a bartender at Goober McCools. He had been planning to open a barbecue restaurant in Portales at the time of his death.
Survivors include a son, Kody Wilson of Levelland; his mother, Leadelle Ferguson of Littlefield; a sister, Karen Ferguson of Littlefield; his fiancee, Kim Robinson of Portales; paternal grandmother, Gladys Ferguson of Portales; and maternal grandparents, Betty Munn of Portales and Jimmie Gresham of Dora.
His father, David Ferguson, and grandfather, John Ferguson, preceded him in death.
Tom Horner
Services are pending with Griffin Funeral Home for Tom Horner of Hobbs.
Mr. Horner, 72, died Tuesday, June 27, in Hobbs. He was born Sept. 11, 1927.
Immediate survivors include his wife, Frances Horner.
Dora Sage
Graveside services for Dora Sage of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. today at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
The Rev. Lavoid Ford will officiate.
Burial will follow the service at Prairie Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home. Mrs. Sage will lie in state at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. today.
Mrs. Sage, 89, died Friday, June 24. She was born on March 29, 1911, in Wayne County, Arkansas. She married Jesse Sage on July 22, 1929 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18,200.
Mrs. Sage was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Marie Ford of Hobbs, Sue Barr of Hobbs and Barbara Watson of San Angelo, Texas; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Otis A. Haley
ROGERS, ARK. -- A memorial service for former Hobbsan Otis A. Haley of Beaver Lake Ark., will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, at Callison/Lough Funeral Home in Rogers.
Mr. Haley, 73, died Thursday, June 22, at his home. He was born on Oct. 15, 1926, in Lubbock, Texas.
He attended Tyler, Texas, High School, where he was an all-star football player. He went on to Louisiana State University in 1943, where he attended class and played football.
Haley was a World War II veteran, serving until his discharge from the United States Navy following the end of the war.
Mr. Haley served as a New Mexico state policeman from 1947 to 1979, rising to district commander in Hobbs, with the rank of captain. Upon retirement, he moved to Beaver Lake.
Survivors include his son Tim Haley of Bismarck, North Dakota; his son Mike Haley of Round Rock, Texas; and two grandsons.
His father, Allen; his mother; Lilace, his sister, Dorotha Mae; and his wife of 52 years, Mary Jo, preceded him in death.

Iris Jean Dinsmore
Services for Iris Jean Dinsmore of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at First United Methodist Church (FUMC).
The Rev. Gorton Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dinsmore, 77, died Wednesday, June 21, at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque. She was born Sept. 3, 1922, in Proffitt, Texas. She married James William "Jimmy" Dinsmore on April 18, 1942. He preceded her in death two years ago.
In 1957, along with her husband, Mrs. Dinsmore started Star Tool Co. Following Mr. Dinsmore's retirement, she remained on as president and CEO until her retirement in 1998.
She served as president of Tester's Inc. from 1961 to 1975, vice president and director of B&B Machine Shop and Crown Inspection.
Mrs. Dinsmore served on the board of directors of Moncor Bank and was listed in Who's Who Among American Women and Who's Who In the World.
She was also a Girl Scout leader.
Survivors include two daughters, Jimmie Lea Mann of Midland, Texas, and Carolyn Jamieson of Hobbs; two sisters, Joyce Smith of Palo Alto, Calif., and Merle Taylor of Abilene; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Iris Jean Dinsmore

Oscar I. Thompson
TUCSON, Ariz. - Masonic graveside services for former Buckeye resident Oscar I. Thompson of Tucson, Ariz., will be held today in Tucson.
Mr. Thompson, 76, died Tuesday, June 20, at his home. He was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Lovington.
He attended schools in Lovington, graduating from Lovington High School in 1941. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and served more than three years.
Mr. Thompson moved to Arizona and lived there for a while working on ranches. He had also lived in cities in California and New Mexico, working on other ranches. He retired from the ranching business after 40 years, settling in Tucson.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Thompson, of the home; one sister, Doris of Ohio; and a brother, Richard of Ruidoso.
His parents, Bea and Denver Thompson, a Lea County pioneer family, preceded him in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame.
Frances L. Damron Moore
GAINESVILLE, Texas -- Services for Frances Lou Damron Moore of Gainesville, mother of Sheryl Carter of Hobbs, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, at Grace Friendship Baptist Church.
The Rev. James Ruthledge of Lindale, the Rev. Larry Huffman of Grace Friendship Baptist Church and the Rev. Joel Nabors of First Assembly of God will officiate.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home in Gainesville.
Mrs. Moore, 72, died Wednesday, June 21, at her home. She was born Feb. 1, 1928, in Circle Back, Texas. She was married to D.S. "Bud" Moore, who preceded her in death on June 15, 1998.
She was a graduate of Sudan High School. She had lived in Lubbock.
Mrs. Moore worked at the Child Development Center in Gainesville and the Gainesville State School until her retirement in 1994.
She was a member of Grace Friendship Baptist Church.
Other survivors include another daughter, Jeanie Williams of Monahans; a son, Tim Moore of Gainesville; a brother, Clarence Damron of Needmore; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Her parents, George and Alice Medlock Damron; two brothers; and one sister also preceded her in death.
Harvey Claunch Jr.
Graveside services for former Hobbs resident Harvey Claunch Jr. of Abilene, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 23 at Memory Gardens.
Elder D.A. Cockran will officiate.
Burial will follow at Memory Gardens under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Mr. Claunch, 81, died Tuesday, June 20, at Hendrich Hospital in Abilene. He was born March 17, 1919, in Breezy Hills, Kan. He married Lorene Swift on May 28, 1940, in Gerard, Kan.
Mr. Claunch served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a life member of the VFW. The Hobbs Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Shirley North of Big Spring, Texas; four sisters, Fern Claunch of Hobbs, Chrystol Edmonston of Tulsa, Okla., Goldine Latta of Marrow, Ark., and Eunice Patterson of Sand Springs, Okla.; three brothers, Paul Claunch of Hobbs, Joe Claunch of Duncanville, Texas, and Kenneth Claunch of Abilene; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
His parents, two brothers and one son, Carl Claunch, preceded him in death.
Andrew "Andy" Salazar
A Mass of Christian burial for Andrew "Andy" Salazar of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 23, at St. Helena Catholic Church.
The Rev. Jose Reyes, OFM Conv., will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home of Lovington.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at St. Helena Catholic Church.
Mr. Salazar, 28, died Monday, June 19, at his home. He was born Jan. 1, 1972, in Hobbs.
He grew up in Hobbs and was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church. He graduated from Hobbs High School in 1991.
Mr. Salazar had been self-employed in the construction-maintenance industry.
Survivors include his parents, Genaro and Cristina Salazar of Hobbs; a sister, Cynthia Salazar of Hobbs; a brother, Eric Salazar of Hobbs; and his maternal grandmother, Juanita Esparza of Hobbs.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today at St. Helena Catholic church in Hobbs.
