Charles "Chuck" Johnson
A memorial service for Charles "Chuck" Johnson of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 23, at Renewed Hope Community Church.
The Rev. Mark Royer will officiate.
Cremation has already taken place under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. The burial of cremains will be in the family plot in Russellville, Ala.
There will be no visitation.
Mr. Johnson, 57, died Sunday, June 18, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born April 28, 1943, in Russellville, Ala.
Survivors include a son, James Matthew Johnson, of Hobbs; and three sisters, Eva Baker of Russellville, Ala., Ella Clemmer of Grand Rapids, Wis., and Martha Benjamin of Rockford, Ill.
His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.
Lonnie Tarango Sr.
ARTESIA - Services for Lonnie Tarango Sr. of Artesia, son of Ernelia Cisneros of Lovington and brother of Kathy Real Piņon of Hobbs, will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 23, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Artesia.
The Rev. Vincent Petersen will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery under the direction of Terpening and Son Mortuary.
Mr. Tarango, 48, died Tuesday, June 20, at his home. He was born Dec. 1, 1951, in Pecos, Texas.
He was a disabled Vietnam veteran and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Other survivors include three sons, Lonnie Sosa Tarango II and Londie Tarango, both of Artesia, and Lionel Ornelas Tarango of California; a daughter, Naomi Sosa Tarango of Artesia; five brothers, Jonisio Tarango, Manuel Tarango and Jose Tarango, all of Morton, Texas, and Albert Tarango and Jaime Tarango, both of Andrews, Texas; five more sisters, Blanca Delgado of Arizona, Jesusita Tarango and Rosario Garcia, both of Morton, Adrianna Barragon of Levelland, Texas, and Eloisa Baeca of Odessa, Texas; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His father, Manuel Tarango, preceded him in death.
R.G. Sudduth
Services for R.G. Sudduth of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, at Castle Avenue Baptist Church.
Sam Freeman will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Leon Green.
Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
Mr. Sudduth, 82, died Monday, June 19, at his home. He was born May 1, 1918, in Gladiola. He married Myrtle Morine McGravey on Aug. 29, 1951, in Las Cruces.
He was a World War II veteran. He received the American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Eame Campaign Medal with five bronze stars.
Mr. Sudduth was a member of Love Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Carolyn Sudduth, Linda Pietz and Sandra Freeman, all of Hobbs; three stepdaughters, Mary Lee Martin of Kingman, Ariz., Sharon Schwartz and Dorothy Williams, both of Coleman, Texas; six stepsons, Vernon Harrington of Deming, Bobby Harrington of Springfield, Mo., Jackie Harrington of Tempe, Ariz., Richard Harrington of Brookline, Mo., John Pruett and Donald Pruett, both of Hobbs; four sisters, Frankie Montgomery and Martha Miller, both of Brownfield, Texas, Pat Burt of Gainsville, Texas, and Avis Robertson of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Doyle Sudduth of Beaumont, Texas; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents; a brother, Willard Sudduth; and two grandchildren preceded him in death.
Ora L. Dunaway
Graveside services and burial for Ora Lee Dunaway of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
The Rev. Dean Mathis will officiate. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dunaway, 95, died Monday, June 19, at her home. She was born May 27, 1905, in Newton County, Ark. She married M.A. Dunaway Sr. on Aug. 8, 1929, in Muskogee, Okla. He preceded her in death in April 1956.
She had retired from the Alamogordo Public Schools. She was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, M.A. Dunaway Jr. of Hobbs; two sisters, Ethel Center and Gladys Morris of Tahlequah, Okla.; a brother, Speedy Chaffin of Tahlequah; four granddaughters; a grandson; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Her parents, four brothers, a sister and a son, John Dunaway, also preceded her in death.
Leona M. Beam
Graveside services and burial for Leona Mae Beam of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, at Prairie Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
The Rev. Fabian Sena will officiate.
Mrs. Beam, 67, died Friday, June 17, at Hobbs Health Care Center. She was born Feb. 28, 1933, in Thornton, Texas.
She married Dalton Beam in 1953 in Raymondville, Texas. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Vanessa Adams of Fort Worth, Texas; five brothers, Raymond Penick of Phoenix, Ariz., Guy Penick of Traverse City, Mich., Bill Penick and Johnnie Penick, both of Hobbs, and Mike Penick of Redding, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Two sons, Wes Beam and Bobby Beam; and her parents, Guy and Gladys Penick, also preceded her in death.
Harvey Claunch
Services are pending with Chapel of Hope Funeral Home for former Hobbsan Harvey Claunch of Abilene.
Mr. Claunch died Tuesday, June 20, in Abilene.
L.D. Rutledge
SNYDER, Texas - Memorial services for former Hobbsan L.D. "Dick" Rutledge of Rotan, Texas, will be held Tuesday, June 20, at 11 a.m. CDT, at Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Snyder.
Mr. Rutledge, 84, died Tuesday, May 23, in Plano. He was born Dec. 1, 1915, in Rotan.
He lived in Snyder from 1954 to 1990, when he moved to Plano. He owned and operated Brooks Oil Well Service for many years.
Mr. Rutledge was a 32nd degree Mason with the Scurry County Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Tipping of Plano, Texas; a brother, C.E. "June" Rutledge of Snyder; a sister, Evelyn Polk of Rotan; a granddaughter; and nine nieces and nephews.
Leota Robinson
LOVINGTON - Services for Leota Robinson of Lovington will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 19, at the First United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Merriel Abbott and the Rev. Roy Elmore will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lovington Cemetery under the direction of Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robinson, 87, died Friday, June 16, at the Lovington Good Samaritan Center. She was born Nov. 11, 1912, in Arcadia, Neb. She married James Fred Robinson on Oct. 18, 1930, in Lovington.
She was an active member since 1932 of the First United Methodist Church, where she served with the United Methodist women group. She lived in Lovington since 1928.
Survivors include her husband of Lovington; three daughters, Cherrill Black and Joyce Ruth Caudle, both of Lovington, and Valle Jean Golden of Morris, Okla.; two sons, Jimmy Joe Robinson of Clovis and Eddie Mack Robinson of Orlando, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Methodist Church or the Lovington Good Samaritan Center.
Ruth E. Mackey
Services are pending with Chapel of Hope Funeral Home for Ruth E. Mackey of Hobbs.
Mrs. Mackey, 58, died Thursday, June 15, in her home. She was born March 22, 1942, in Tatum, Okla.
Immediate survivors include her husband, Levi Mackey of the home.
Ricky D. Horn
Services for Ricky Dale Horn of Artesia will be held at 10 a.m. today at Highland Baptist Church.
The Rev. Tracy Roby will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
Mr. Horn, 43, died Monday, June 12, in Hobbs. He was born March 19, 1957, in Hobbs. He and his wife, Pennye, were married Sept. 2, 1976, in Hobbs at Highland Baptist Church.
Mr. Horn worked for Hudson Packers. He had worked for New Mexico Packers and Lea County Packers with his father.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Dustin Horn of Hobbs and Jeremy Horn of Artesia; four sisters, Debbie Massingill of Loraine, Texas; Letha Wright of Witchita Falls, Texas; Phyllis Wilson and Kathy Horn, both of Hobbs; his parents, Gene Horn of Artesia and Diane Sanders of Loraine; his grandmother, Gladys Horn; and one grandchild.
His grandfathers, Roy Horn and Robert F. Beckhart; and an aunt and an uncle preceded him in death.
L.D. Rutledge
SNYDER, Texas -- Memorial services for former Hobbsan L.D. "Dick" Rutledge of Rotan, Texas, will be held Tuesday, June 20, at 11 a.m. CST, at Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Snyder.

James R. Cogswell
LOVINGTON - Graveside services and burial for James Robert Cogswell of Lubbock, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, at Resthaven Cemetery in Lovington under the direction of Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.
Mr. Cogswell, 83, died Monday, June 12, in Lubbock. He was born May 8, 1917, in Bonham, Texas. He married Juanita Simmons. She preceded him in death.
He was a Christian.
Survivors include a daughter, Millie Geiger of Chiefland, Fla.; a brother, William M. Cogswell Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; and two sisters, Lorraine Vassak of Dallas, and Mildred Stalnaker of Lubbock.
Ricky Horn
Services are pending with Griffin Funeral Home for Ricky Horn of Artesia.
Mr. Horn, 43, died Monday, June 12, at Lea Regional Medical Center. He was born March 19, 1957.
Immediate survivors include his wife, Pennye Horn, of the home.
Nora L. Wilkerson
Graveside services and burial for Nora L. Wilkerson of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, at Prairie Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
Fred Kellum will officiate.
Mrs. Wilkerson, 82, died Tuesday, June 13, in Hobbs. She was born Sept. 23, 1917, in Texas. She married E.F. (Skeet) Wilkerson on July 2, 1966, in West Columbia, Texas. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1992.
She had lived in Hobbs since 1949.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Prince of Hobbs and Gary Prince of Lovington; two brothers. A.E. Ellington Jr., and Donald Wayne Ellington, both of Texas; two sisters, Thelma Lucille Warren of Hobbs and Dorothy Rebensdorf of Texas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Her parents and a brother, A.B. Stanfield, also preceded her in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society or the Hobbs Healthcare Alzheimer's Unit.
Sailes Leister
LOVINGTON - Graveside services and burial for Sailes Leister of Lovington will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Lovington Cemetery under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.
Jim Floyd will officiate.
Mr. Leister, 71, died Monday, June 12, at his home. He was born on April 16, 1929, in Oklahoma.
He moved to Lovington in 1986. He worked in the oilfields as a roustabout for many years.
Survivors include two brothers, W.F. Leister and James Leister, both of Lovington.
A brother, Irvin Leister; and his parents, Fred and Margaret Leister, preceded him in death.
