Leon G. Cox
Services for Leon G. Cox of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, at Prairie Haven Memorial Park Chapel.
The Rev. Benny Greenlee will officiate.
Burial will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park with rites performed by the American Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until noon on Monday.
Mr. Cox, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 18, at his home. He was born April 20, 1916, in Afton, Okla. He Barbara Jean Rector on March 2, 1951, in Clovis.
He was a World War II veteran having served in the European Theatre and a lifetime member of the VFW.
He worked as a ranch hand on many ranches in New Mexico. He retired from the Mississippi Potash Mines.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Leon Gibson Jr. of Hobbs, Waymond Lynn Cox of Arkansas and Alvin John Cox of Carlsbad; two daughters, Patsy Ann Kesterson of Tulsa and Aleta Jean Livingston of Dallas; a sister, Josephine Cameron of Washington; a brother, Robert N. Cox of Hagerstown, Md.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A brother, Troy Cox; and his parents preceded him in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Ray Moore
Graveside services for Ray Moore of Hobbs will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Jake Armstrong officiating.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. today and from 8-11:30 a.m. on Monday. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Moore, 65, died Thursday, Jan. 18, at his home. He was born April 22, 1935, in Robeline, La. He married Eileen Moore on April 22, 1966, in Little Rock, Ark.
He moved to Hobbs eight years ago.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sisters, Maria Flores of Robeline, Kathy Cobb of Shreveport, La., and Ann Eason of DeValles Bluff, Ark.; and two brothers, Raymond Moore and Ronald Moore, both of Blanchard, La.
His parents; two brothers, Joseph B. Moore Jr., and Ernest Moore; and a niece and nephew preceded him in death.

Martin T. Wilson
A memorial service for Martin Thades Wilson of Hobbs will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, at Nadine Baptist Church. The Rev. Sidney Butler will officiate.
Mr. Wilson, 76, died Friday, Jan. 19, at Big Spring Veterans Affairs Hospital.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1924, in Moberly, Mo.
Mr. Wilson married Nora B. Arguello on Oct. 18, 1943.
He lived in Missouri until 17. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942-45. He served in England, France and Trinidad.
Mr. Wilson moved to Trinidad, Colo., then to Denver where he lived for 20 years. He lived in Albuquerque for two years before moving to Hobbs, where he worked as a machinist at Evans Machine Shop, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of Nadine Baptist Church.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter, Vickie Wielenga of Hobbs; a son, Marty Wilson of Denver; two sisters, Velma and Julia of Missouri; four brothers, Ronald, Franklin, Paul and James, all of Missouri; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Gilbert.

Karen E. Brown
CARLSBAD - Services for Karen E. Brown of Carlsbad will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, at First Assembly of God church. The Rev. Fred Connell will officiate. Burial will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Denton-Funchess Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brown will lie in state today from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon.
Mrs. Brown, 45, died Tuesday, Jan. 16.
She was born on Aug. 3, 1955, to Bert William Titus Sr. and Dorothy Sue Arrington Titus in Carlsbad. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1973. In 1979, she moved to Bastrop, Texas, where she worked for Lower Colorado River Authority Electrical Company in the accounting department.
On May 22, 1981, she married Barry Brown in Bastrop. In 1993, Mrs. Brown received her nursing associate's degree from NMSU-Carlsbad and went to work for Guadalupe Medical Center for three years.
She then became the director for the Hospice Services Inc., starting what would become Family Hospice and later VistaCare Family Hospice.
In 1997, Mrs. Brown went to work for Westinghouse where she was the occupational health director. She also received her registered nurse certification and occupational health nursing certification.
Mrs. Brown recently went to work for Lakeview Christian Home of the Southwest Inc. as director of nursing. She was a longtime member of First Assembly of God.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband and a son, Brad Brown, of the home; a daughter, Teresa Moots, of Harlingen, Texas; her mother, Dorothy Titus of Carlsbad; three brothers, Dennis Titus of Carlsbad, Don Titus of Carlsbad and Roger Titus of Bosque Farms; and a sister, Juanita Young of Carlsbad.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bert William Titus Jr. in 1974, and her father in 1989.
Memorial contributions may be made to a hospice program of one's choice.

Dorothy M. Buckley
Memorial services for Dorothy M. Buckley of Hobbs will be held at an unspecified date. Cremation has already taken place.
Services are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Mrs. Buckley, 76, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, a her home.
She was born on Feb. 11, 1924, in Wakenda, Mo.
She married Harry Keith Buckley on Dec. 29, 1950, in Carrollton, Mo. Mrs. Buckley moved to Hobbs in 1989 from Horse Creek, Wyo., to be near her grandsons.
She is survived by a son, Gaylon Buckley of Hobbs; a half-brother, James P. Stewart; two grandsons; four nieces; and three nephews.
Mrs. Buckley was preceded in death by her husband in 1997; a son, Garold Buckley; a brother, Robert Stewart; and her parents, Robert and Zola Stewart.

Ray Moore
Services are pending for Ray Moore of Hobbs under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.
Mr. Moore, 65, died Thursday, Jan. 18, at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen, of the home, three sisters and two brothers.

Gaye I. Sacra
ALBUQUERQUE - A reception following the cremation of former Hobbs resident Gaye Iden Sacra of Albuquerque will be held from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Jan. 20, at Aspen Funeral Alternatives.
Mrs. Sacra, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 17.
Mrs. Sacra lived in Fort Worth for more than 40 years where she worked as an executive secretary for Rattikin Title Company. She was also active in the Church of Christ.
After her time in Fort Worth, Mrs. Sacra lived in Hobbs for 11 years before moving to Albuquerque.
Mrs. Sacra is survived by a daughter, Susanna Alice Sacra-Whitman of Albuquerque; a granddaughter; a nephew; and a brother-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leston Sacra, in 1982.

Dorothy Buckley
Services are pending with Chapel of Hope Funeral Home for Dorothy Buckley of Hobbs.
Ms. Buckley, 76, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, at her home. She was born on Feb. 11, 1924.
Ms. Buckley is survived by a son, Gaylon Buckley, of Hobbs.

Jesusa Martinez
LOVINGTON - A Mass of Christian Burial for Jesusa "Susie" Martinez of Lovington will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, at St. Thomas Catholic Church. The Rev. Franklin Eichhorst will officiate. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery.
Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at Bethany Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Martinez, 72, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Lea Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Dec. 31, 1929, in Robstown, Texas, to Jesus and Rosa Jackson. She married Emmett Martinez Sr. on March 5, 1947. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
Mrs. Martinez is survived by a daughter, Elsa Villegas, of Plano, Texas; a son, Emmett Martinez Jr., of Lovington; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters; and one brother.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994 and her parents.

Ruth Wicks
SIDNEY, Neb. - Services for Ruth Wicks of Sidney will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gary Aten will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Holechek Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wicks will lie in state on today from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wicks, 74, died Monday, Jan. 15, at the Exempla Lutheran Medical Center in Wheatridge, Colo.
She was born on Sept. 7, 1926, in Bristow, Okla., to Dudley and Connie Moore. She spent most of her youth in Hobbs, where she graduated from Hobbs High School in 1944.
She attended the University of Texas prior to returning to Hobbs during World War II.
She married Clark E. Wicks, a sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps, on April 18, 1946. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Rapid City, S.D. After the birth of her first son, the family moved to Nebraska. She moved to Sidney in 1964, where she served as Welcome Wagon Hostess for 15 years.
She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her family, camping and golfing.
Mrs. Wicks is survived by her husband of the home; three children, Byron Wicks of Littleton, Colo., Cheryl Lindekugel of Hershey, Neb., and Brad Wicks of Denver; two grandsons; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a granddaughter.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Paula V. Zuniga
SEMINOLE - Funeral Mass for Paula Valdez Zuniga of Seminole will be held at 10 a.m. CST on Friday, Jan. 19, at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. John Casey officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery South.
Services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Zuniga, 73, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Permian General Hospital in Andrews.
Mrs. Zuniga was born on June 22, 1927 in Mexico. She married Francisco Zuniga on May 26, 1942, in Mexico. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and was an active member. She owned Paula's Mexican Food for 20 years and was a homemaker. She moved to Seminole in 1956 from Harlingen.
Mrs. Zuniga is survived by four sons, Ismael Zuniga of Hobbs, Guadalupe Zuniga of Seminole, Concepcion (J.R.) Zuniga of Hobbs and Juan Angel Zuniga of Amarillo; three daughters, Blanco Irma McWhorta of Seminole, Maria Eugenia Pallanes of Hobbs and Mary Lou Sierra of Seminole; two sisters, Virginia and Santos of Mexico; six brothers, Estaben, Macario, Beto and Juan, all of Mexico, and Luis and Romelo of California; 21 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996.

Bruce Buchanan
Services for Bruce Buchanan of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, at Belvue Baptist Church in Hobbs. The Rev. Gavin Vaughan will officiate. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia.
Mr. Buchanan will lie in state today from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Mr. Buchanan, 71, died Monday, Jan. 15, at his home.
He was born on Aug. 14, 1929, in Ringling, Okla. He married Lorieta Faye Nunnelee on Sept. 1, 1950, in Carlsbad.
Mr. Buchanan was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of Belvue Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of the home; six sons, Bob Buchanan and Rocky Buchanan, both of Hobbs, Les Buchanan of Lub-bock, John Buchanan of Houston, James Buchanan of Riverside, Calif., and Todd Buchanan of Childress, Texas; a brother, Richard Buchanan of Denver; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Nora Buchanan; three brothers, H.G. Buchanan, Cameron Buchanan and Jackie Buchanan; and two sisters, Betty Buchanan and Joan Kinnibrough.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association, Arthritis Foun-dation or VistaCare Family Hospice at 1515 Calle Sur in Hobbs.

Barbara Colborn
ODESSA - Services for Barbara Colborn of Odessa will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Odessa Christian Faith Center. The Rev. Don Caywood will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Mrs. Colborn, 68, died Sunday, Jan. 14, at her daughter's home in Alvin.
She was born on Sept. 9, 1932, in Brownwood and married Alfred Eugene Colborn on April 8, 1951, in Houston.
Mrs. Colborn attended College of the Southwest in Hobbs and Easter New Mexico University. She retired from teaching school in Eunice.
She was a member of Odessa Christian Faith Center.
Mrs. Colborn is survived by a son, Rance Colborn of Eunice; two daughters, Deaion Fisher of Alvin and Caren Colborn of Midland; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Ervin and Laura Anderson; and a brother, Richard Anderson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Odessa Christian Faith Center youth building project.

Della McClure
LOVINGTON - Funeral services for Della Mae Willis McClure of Lovington will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, at Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Terry Pugh will officiate. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction Bethany Funeral Home in Lovington.
Mrs. McClure, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Lea Regional Medical Center in Hobbs.
Mrs. McClure was born July 2, 1919, in De Kalb, Texas, to Spread-ney and Sara Walker. She married Otto Willis on Aug. 4, 1942, in Big Spring.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Mrs. McClure is survived by four sons, Alton Willis of Odessa, Dean Willis, Ernest Willis and Derrill Willis, all of Lovington; a sister, Faye Davis of Albuquer-que; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Helen L. Najera
Services for Helen Luna Najera of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, at St. Helena Catholic Church. The Rev. Jose Reyes will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
A rosary will be held today at 7 p.m. at St. Helena Catholic Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Beth-any Funeral Home.
Ms. Najera died Monday, Jan. 15, at her home.
Ms. Najera, 65, was born on June 24, 1935, in Carlsbad to Pedro Luna and Elvira Gomez. She lived in Hobbs for 43 years, moving here from Carlsbad. She was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church.
Ms. Najera was a homemaker who loved music, dancing, singing and being with her family and grandchildren. She loved to cook and spend many special moments with her granddaughters.
She is survived by her mother of Hobbs; two sons, Robert Gonzales and Pete Najera, both of Hobbs; one daughter, Debbie Luera of Hobbs; a brother, Richard Lopez of Hobbs; two sisters, Gloria Acosta of Odessa and Yolanda Castillo of Hobbs; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Marty Huerta; and two brothers, Andy Garcia of Lub-bock and Sammy Lopez of Carlsbad.

Ramon D. Peņa
Funeral Mass for Ramon Dominguez Peņa of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. The Rev. Pedro Valdez will officiate.
Mr. Peņa will lie in state today from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. at Calvary Memorial Funeral Home in Hobbs.
A prayer Vigil will be held at the funeral home chapel tonight at 7 p.m.
Mr. Peņa, 89, died Monday, Jan. 15, at Hobbs Healthcare Center.
He was born on June 14, 1911, in Chihuahua, Mexico.
He has lived in Hobbs since 1956, working as a ranch hand for various ranches in the Lea County area. He retired in 1983 after working for 40 years.
Mr. Peņa was a member of our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
He is survived by a brother, Jose Dominguez of Lovington and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Peņa was preceded in death by his wife, Margarita Ramirez Dominguez.

Dorothea Cope
Services for Dorothea Cope of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Jim Lacy will officiate. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
She will lie in state today from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. cope, 82, died Sunday, Jan. 14, at Good Samaritan Village.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1918, in Boston, Mass. She married Clarence Cope on April 4, 1944, in Providence, R.I. Mrs. Cope moved to Hobbs in 1951 from Oregon. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Cope is survived by a son, Kenneth Cope, of Seldovia, Alaska; two daughters, Carol Sweatt of Anchorage and Linda Cox of Hobbs; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

John Tate
Services for John Tate of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the First Baptist Church in Eunice. The Rev. Keeney Dickenson will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
He will lie in state at the funeral home today from 1-8 p.m.
Mr. Tate, 89, died on Sunday, Jan. 14, at Lea Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Dec. 31, 1911, in Western Grove, Ark. He and his family moved to New Mexico in 1934. He lived in Hobbs, Monument and Oil Center. He lived in the Drinkard Camp in 1947 and moved to Eunice in 1955. He worked for Gulf Oil Company for 42 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eunice for 52 years. He enjoyed traveling in his RV and fishing.
Mr. Tate is survived by his wife, Jackie, of the home; a son, Bob Tate of Grants Pass, Ore.; a stepson, Jimmy Gabbard of Gallup; two stepdaughters, Donna Good of Tyler, Texas, and Quita McPherson of Albuquerque; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maybelle, and a son, Loren Tate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
