Maurice Johnson
Services for Maurice Johnson of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Leon Green and the Rev. Benny Greenlee will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson will lie in state today from 1-8 p.m., Wednesday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Johnson, 76, died Sunday, Jan. 14, at her home.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1924, in Nevada County, Ark.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by four brothers, Adrian Hunter of Little Rock, Ark., Don Hunter of Graham, Texas, Thomas Hunter and James Hunter; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Johnson; and a daughter, Patricia Weeks.
Patricia A. White
LOVINGTON - Services for Patricia Ann White of Lovington will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Jackson Avenue Baptist Church. The Rev. Mike McGuire will officiate. Burial will follow at Tatum Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.
Mrs. White, 53, died Saturday, Jan. 13, at her home.
Mrs. White was born on Oct.. 20, 1947, in Ralls, Texas, to Daniel and Jewel Washburn. She married Daryl White on Jan. 2, 1973, in Lovington.
Mrs. White and her husband owned and operated White's Pumping Service for more than 15 years.
She is survived by her husband of the home; four daughters, Christy Stroup of Vian, Okla., Shelly Mahan of Lovington, Rebecca Gandy of Lovington and Angela Pralle of Midland; a son, Daniel White of Lovington; three sisters, Barbara York of Tatum, Jeanne Kidd and Joy Dawson, both of Post, Texas; and a brother, Jackie Washburn of Lovington.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents.
Ray L. Weaver
Services for Ray L. Weaver, formerly of Lovington, will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Universal City, Texas. The Rev. George Malis will officiate and burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.
Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home.
Mr. Weaver will lie in state today from 5-9 p.m.
Mr. Weaver, 48, was born on Sept. 29, 1952, in Lovington to H.P. and Jo Marie Weaver. He graduated from Lovington High School in 1972. He served in the Army in Germany from 1973-75. He married Tricia Ann Glascock.
Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife and two sons, Jason Paul Weaver and Kevin Ray Weaver, all of the home; his mother of Lovington; and a brother, Carl Joe Weaver of Lovington.
He was preceded in death by his twin sisters, Paula and Pauline; and his father.
Andrea U. Ochoa
LOVINGTON - Services for Andrea Urias Ochoa of Lovington will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Thomas Catholic. The Rev. Frank Eichhorst will officiate. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery.
Mrs. Ochoa, 59, died Saturday, Jan. 13, in Lovington.
She was born on Dec. 15, 1941, in El Paradero, Mexico. She married Reemijio Ochoa in 1976 in Ojinaja, Mexico. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
Mrs. Ochoa is survived by six daughters, Patti Hernandez, Araceli Ochoa, Marcela Hinojos, Rosa Peņa and Antonia Trevino, all of Lovington, and Ramona Rochin of Ojinaja; six sons, Aaron Ochoa, Edgar Ochoa, Omar Ochoa and Gorge Ochoa, all of Lovington, and Roberto Ochoa and Victor Alvarado of Ojinaja; three sisters, Elfida Urias and Lidia Urias, both of Odessa, and Pilar Aguilera of Ojinaja; a brother, Elias Carrosco of McCamy, Texas; and 20 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Helen L. Najera
Services are pending for Helen Luna Najera of Hobbs.
Ms. Najera, 65, died Monday, Jan. 15, at her home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home of Hobbs.
Ms. Najera is survived by her mother, Elvira Gonzales of Hobbs; two sons, Robert Gonzales and Pete Najera, both of Hobbs; a daughter, Debbie Luera of Hobbs; a brother, Richard Lopez of Hobbs; two sisters, Gloria Acosta of Odessa, and Yolanda Castillo of Hobbs; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Marty Huerta; and two brothers, Andy Garcia of Lubbock and Sammy Lopez of Carlsbad.
Ines Frausto
LOVINGTON - Mass of Christian Burial for Ines Frausto of Tatum will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Thomas Catholic Church. The Rev. Franklin Eichhorst will officiate. Burial will follow at Tatum Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.
Mrs. Frausto, 72, died Sunday, Jan. 14, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
Mrs. Frausto was born on Nov. 23, 1928, in Merced, Calif., to Severiado and Felicetas Flores. She married Abel Frausto in 1947 in Mexico. She was a member of the Crusillista at Our Lady of Rosary.
She is survived by her husband of the home; three sons, Manuel Frausto of Lovington, Luciano Frausto of Hobbs and Fred Frausto of Bloomfield; three daughters, Mary Frausto of Sunland, Texas, Emma Jimenez of Tatum and Yolanda Singleton of Hobbs; two brothers, Severo Flores of Tatum and Lupe Flores of Mexico; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Frausto was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Juan Frausto; and a grandson.
Wiley B. Buchanan
Services are pending for Wiley Bruce Buchanan of Hobbs. Mr. Buchanan, 71, died on Monday, Jan. 15, at his home.
He was born on Aug. 14, 1929, in Ringling, Okla.
Mr. Buchanan is survived by his wife, Faye Buchanan, of the home.
Wayne F. Johnson
Services for Wayne F. Johnson of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. His son, the Rev. James Johnson and the Rev. Gale Trow will officiate. A private burial will be scheduled at a later date.
Mr. Johnson will lie in state today at Griffin Funeral Home from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
Mr. Johnson, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 13, at Good Samaritan Village.
He was born on Sept. 9, 1913, in Rockford, Minn. His first wife, Helena, preceded him in death. He married Jo M. Landusky on May 11, 1966, in Hobbs.
Mr. Johnson resigned as district superintendent for Northern Natural Gas Company in Hobbs in 1965 and purchased the local Gulf distributorship. He served as a member of Gulf Oil Company's Governmental Advisory Board.
A past president of the Hobbs Rotary Club, he served Rotary International (RI) as governor of District 5520 in 1977-78. He and his wife were active in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program since 1968, hosting a number of students in their home. He served as club and district Youth Exchange officer for many years and was treasurer and chairman of Rotary International Youth Exchange officers in 1981-82.
He was the founder and served as the first president of South Central Rotary Youth Exchange Officers (combining the youth exchange programs in 25 Rotary districts) in 1985. He was named a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow in 1978. One of his favorite activities was attending the annual Rotary International conventions throughout the world. He served on numerous district and RI committees throughout the years and was the local club's Rotary foundation chairman until a year prior to his death.
Mr. Johnson was a licensed commercial, multi-engine, instrument-rated pilot for over 40 years. He owned a plane and flew children to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital in Houston and the Shrine Burn Institute in Galveston. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
Mr. Johnson served as a deacon at First Baptist Church. He taught a Sunday school class, was Sunday school superintendent and served as choir director prior to the church's first music minister.
Mr. Johnson also served as Chamber of Commerce president, United Way chairman and a Salvation Army board member.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of the home; three sons, James Johnson of Nashville, Robert Johnson and Larry Landusky, both of Lubbock; a daughter, Judy Johnson of Farmington; a sister, Alice Wentworth of St. Paul, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a Youth Exchange daughter; and a host of friends.

Douglas Ray
ALBUQUERQUE - Memorial services for former Hobbs resident Douglas Ray of Albuquerque will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
Mr. Ray, 41, died Thursday, Jan. 11, in Albuquerque. He was born April 29, 1959, in Hobbs.
He attended Hobbs Schools and was a graduate of Hobbs High School. He worked for several oil field service companies for several years. He later moved to Texas and worked in fresh water treatment plants.
He moved back to Hobbs later and in August moved to Albuquerque.
Mr. Ray was a member of Payne Springs, Texas, United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his parents, Burl and Dorothy Ray of Hobbs; three brothers, Bill Ray of Arlington, Texas, Dick Ray of Gun Barrel City, Texas, and Bob Ray of Bedford, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Leroy E. Blackburn
EUNICE - Services for Leroy E. Blackburn of Dublin, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, at Calvary Funeral Home Chapel. Tom Craiker will officiate.
Burial will follow at Brunson Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home.
Mr. Blackburn will lie in state on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 1-8 p.m., and on Monday, Jan. 15, from 9 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Blackburn, 79, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, in Dublin.
He was born May 7, 1921, in Temple, Okla. Mr. Blackburn married Zada Lee Shackley on Nov. 3, 1992, in Big Spring.
Mr. Blackburn was a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Eunice. He attended school in Oklahoma, Texas and at New Mexico Junior College. Mr. Blackburn served in the United States Army from Dec. 4, 1939, until Feb. 29, 1960, retiring as a chief warrant officer.
During his service career he was decorated with the Korean Service Medal with four bronze stars, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation and the National Defense Service Medal.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion in Hobbs. Mr. Blackburn was a longtime resident of Eunice until moving to Dublin two months ago.
Mr. Blackburn is survived by his wife of Big Spring; a stepdaughter, Donna Bryant Atteberry, of Proctor, Texas; six stepsons, Johnny Bryant, of Proctor; Raymond Bryant, of Hobbs; C.J. Shockley, of Florence, Ariz.; Mike Shockley of Big Spring; Richard Shockley of Marshall, Texas; and Bruce Shockley of Arlington; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; eight brothers; his first wife, Mildred Peterson; and his second wife, Lillie Bryant.

Alice R. Singleton
Services for Alice Ruth Singleton of Hobbs will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, at Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ. The Rev. C.L. Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Everglade Cemetery.
Ms. Singleton will lie in state on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at Calvary Memorial Funeral Home.
Ms. Singleton, 88, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, in Hobbs.
She was born on Dec. 25, 1912, in Scottsville, Texas. Ms. Singleton was a member of the Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ. She moved to this area in 1935 from Scottsville.
Ms. Singleton is survived by a niece, Lucy M. Lee, of Hobbs; three granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; a very special friend, Mattie L. Johnson, of Hobbs; and numerous cousins, great-nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hannah Sterling; three brothers, Jerry, Abe and Melvin Perkins; a step-daughter, Annie Singleton; and one niece.
Delia R. Winn
Graveside services for Delia Rene Winn of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, at Prairie Haven Cemetery. The Rev. Chris Barnett will officiate.
Visitation will be held today from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Home.
Mrs. Winn, 73, died Thursday, Jan. 11, at her home.
She was born on Sept. 6, 1927, in Bangs, Texas.
Mrs. Winn married Harvey Winn in 1944 in Brownwood, Texas. She was a resident of Hobbs for 50 years and enjoyed painting, ceramics and photography.
Mrs. Winn is survived by two sons, Steve Winn of Hobbs and Dickie Winn of Pea Ridge, Ark.; two daughters, Linda Koenig of Hobbs and Janice Tate of Bella Vista, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Winn; two brothers, Kenneth and Jack Seymore; a daughter, Lisa Gay; and her parents, R.V. and Goldie Seymore.
Jessie L. Meloy
The services for Jesse Lee Meloy have been changed from graveside to Lakewood Christian Church in McAlester, Okla., at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13.
Jerry O. Mize
LOVINGTON - Services for Jerry Odom Mize of Lovington will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, at Smith Rogers Chapel in Lovington. The Rev. Harry Pittam will officiate. Burial will follow at the Lovington Cemetery.
She will lie in state from noon-8 p.m. today and until service time on Saturday.
Mrs. Mize, 66, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, at her home.
She was born on Aug. 23, 1934, in Lexington, Okla. She married Wayne Mize on March 19, 1962, in Carlsbad.
Mrs. Mize was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of the home; three daughters, Carol Harris of Downingtown, Penn.; Becky Peterson of Midland and Melodie Fellows of Mineral Wells, Texas; a son, David Mize of Albuquerque; a sister, Lavois Hilliard of Denver City; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Moser
Services for Evelyn Moser of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan 13, at Bethany Funeral Home in Hobbs. Gale Trow and Leon Green will officiate.
Graveside services and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Carlsbad with the Rev. Charles Stackhouse officiating.
Mrs. Moser, 84, died on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at her home.
She was born on Nov. 23, 1916, in Decatur, Texas.
Mrs. Moser worked as a licensed practical nurse in Carlsbad and Silver City. She moved to Hobbs in 1971 and served as a Pink Lady with the Lea Regional Hospital Ladies Auxiliary from 1983-93, with over 700 hours of service. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Hobbs for 24 years.
Mrs. Moser is survived by her husband, Bobby, of the home; two sons, Jerry Elliott of Clovis and Roy Elliott of Niotaz, Kan.; two sisters, Edna Duncan and Dorothy Bounds, both of Hobbs; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and six nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Imogene Duncan; an infant son; and husbands Walter Elliott, Fred Smith and John Calvin Kight.
Leroy Blackburn
EUNICE - Services for Leroy Blackburn, 79, of Eunice, are pending under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home.
Mr. Blackburn died Wednesday, Jan. 10, in De Leon, Texas.
He was born on May 7, 1921 in Temple, Okla.
Mr. Blackburn is survived by a stepdaughter, Donna Atterberry, of Dublin, Texas.
Marilyn K. Boerner
Services for Marilyn Kay Boerner of Hobbs will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Taylor Street Church of Christ. Eli Borden will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, at the Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Mrs. Boerner, 44, died on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Lea Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Dec. 8, 1956, in Hobbs. She married Dan Boerner on May 1, 1975, in Hobbs.
Mrs. Boerner graduated from New Mexico Junior College with an associate's degree in nursing. She then became a registered nurse.
Mrs. Boerner is survived be her husband of the home; a son, Jason Boerner of Hobbs; a daughter, Amy Boerner of Hobbs; two brothers, J.W. Hunter and Cleo Hunter, both of Hobbs; her parents, Cleo and Eloise Slaten Hunter of Hobbs; and a grandson.
Jessie L. Meloy
MCALESTER, Okla. - Services for Jessie Lee Meloy of McAlester will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. The Rev. Cliff House will officiate.
Mrs. Meloy, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 6, at McAlester Regional Health Center.
She was born on Dec. 4, 1913, in Gravley, Ark., to Jefferson and Druzilla Hawkins LaRue. She married Henry Meloy on Nov. 1, 1930, in El Reno. He preceded her in death.
They lived in Enid from 1935-1956. The couple then moved to Hobbs where they lived until 1974 at which time they retired to McAlester. Mrs. Meloy operated Jessie Lee's Beauty Shop in Enid and Hobbs for many years.
She is survived by two sons, Jim Meloy of Oklahoma City, and William Meloy of Los Alamos; a daughter, Drue Saunier of McAlester; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mary E. Moser
Services are pending for Mary Evelyn Moser, 84, of Hobbs. Mrs. Moser passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, at her residence.

Mrs. Moser is survived by her husband, Bob, of the home; two sons, Jerry Elliott of Clovis and Roy Elliott of Niotaz, Kan.; two sisters, Edna Duncan and Dorothy Bounds, both of Hobbs; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Ruth Rogers
Graveside services for Ruth Mildred Davis Rogers of Hobbs will be held at 3 p.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park. The Rev. Wayman Swopes of Greenwood Baptist Church will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rogers, 97, died on Tuesday, Jan. 9, in Hobbs.
Mrs. Rogers traveled to Texas with her mother in the 1920s and settled in the Panhandle. She married Herschall "Slim" Davis in 1935 and together, they moved to Midland and began the Webb-Davis Fruit Company. Many years after the death of Mr. Davis, she married Clinton Rogers and moved to California.
Mr. Rogers also preceded her in death. Mrs. Rogers moved back to Midland in 1991. She resided in the Manor Park Mabee Center until recently when she moved to Hobbs.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by a son, Bob Jack Davis of Hobbs; two granddaughters; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Rogers was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nelda Joyce Davis Cooper.

SEATTLE - Services will be held at 1 p.m. today in Kent, Wash., for former Hobbs resident Thomas W. Blandin of Seattle, son of Chuck and Valeda Blandin, former Hobbs residents, now residing in Lawton, Okla.Other survivors include a brother, James Blandin of Hobbs.
