Lonnie L. Crow
A memorial service for Lonnie L. Crow will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, at West Funeral Home in Carlsbad.
The Rev. Bob Bacon of First Baptist Church and Dave Perini will officiate.
Mr. Crow, 66, died Friday, Jan. 5, in his home. He was born Sept. 14, 1934 in Plainview, Texas to Lonnie L. and Ida Mae Smith Crow.
He was raised and educated in Texas before moving to Carlsbad in 1950. He married Jacqueline D'Ann Minick on Feb. 21, 1972 in Plains, Texas.
Mr. Crow worked as an undercover agent for the New Mexico State Police for three years, was a consultant for the oil industry for 12 years, owned an oilfield related business, worked as a mortician and worked as a salesman for Wilbanks Trucking in Artesia.
He was a former member of the Elks Lodge, was in the Jaycees and was a lifelong member of Grady Baptist Church, in Grady, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his father, a son, Randall Joe Crow, three brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; his mother, Ida Mae Crow of Lovington; a son Clifton E. Crow of Lubbock, and four daughters, Diana Jean Crow of Arvada, Colo., Londa Lynn Lepp of Roswell, LaDonna Tweedy of Littleton, Colo. and Shawn Ballard of Carlsbad; a brother, Les Crow of Lovington, 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
There will be a cookout prior to the memorial services at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, at 2111 Sandyridge.
Thomas W. Blandin
Services are pending for former Hobbs resident Thomas W. Blandin, 48, of Port Orchard, Wash.
Blandin died Thursday, Jan. 4, in Seattle.
He was born March 22, 1952, in Hobbs, played on the 1970 Hobbs High School state championship football team - winning the Jim Ellison award - and graduated from HHS in 1971. After attending college at New Mexico Highlands University on a football scholarship, Mr. Blandin worked for Baber Well Service, then joined the U.S. Army for 14 years.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna Blandin of Port Orchard; one daughter, Katrina of Port Orchard; two sons, Jerrod and Nicholas, both of Port Orchard; three stepchildren, Teresa Garrison, Tena Jones and Terry Blakely, all of Port Orchard; three sisters, Kay Teperary and Connie Walker of California and Betty Sanderson of Albuquerque; one brother, James Blandin of Hobbs; one stepsister, JoAnn Cramer of Athens, Texas; one stepbrother, Chuck Lowery of Hutchinson, Kansas; two grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Tammy Sue Blandin.
Lahoma Wylie
Funeral services for Lahoma Wylie, 85, of Hobbs, are pending at Griffin Funeral Home. Mrs. Wylie died on Thursday, Jan. 4, in Hobbs.
She was born on April 17, 1915, in Mangum, Okla.
Immediate survivors include two sons, Carroll Trotter of Colorado City, Texas, and Charles Trotter of Hobbs; and two daughters, Starlie Shaw of Seminole and Karren Teague of Hobbs.
Thomas W. Blandin
Services are pending for former Hobbs resident Thomas W. Blandin, 48, of Port Orchard, Wash.
Blandin died Thursday, Jan. 4, in Seattle.

Katherine Hampton
Services for Katherine Hampton of Hobbs will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bishop LeRoy Wilcox will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lovington Cemetery under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hampton, 85, died Friday, Dec. 29, at Hobbs Healthcare Center. She was born Jan. 4, 1915, in Louisiana.
She was a first-grade teacher at Taylor Elementary School from 1961 to 1967 and at Southern Heights Elementary School from 1967 to 1985, before retiring.
Survivors include a son, Dwight Hampton of Hobbs.
Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death.
Zachary Barnes
ALAMOGORDO - Funeral Mass for former Hobbs resident Zachary JohnPaul Barnes of Alamogordo will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alamogordo.
The Rev. Gregg Petri, OFM celebrant, will officiate. Cremation will follow.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. today at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home in Alamogordo.
Zachary, 6, died Sunday, Dec. 31, in Alamogordo. He was born Dec. 29, 1994, in Hobbs. He had lived in Alamogordo since 1997.
He was a student at North Elementary Preschool.
Survivors include his parents, Gloria and John Barnes of the family home; a brother, Chase Barnes of the family home; maternal grandmother, Norma Link of Deming; paternal grandmother, Jeanne Barnes of Las Cruces; two uncles; three aunts; and numerous cousins.
His maternal grandfather, Paul Link; and paternal great-grandparents, Earl and Gladys Morrison, preceded him in death.
Following Mass, there will be a reception for the family and friends in the Parish Hall.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation or the Shriners Children's Hospital.
Presley S. Roberts
Graveside services and burial for Presley Stark Roberts of Lubbock will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at Monument Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
Mr. Roberts, 92, died Thursday, Dec. 28, in Lubbock. He was born Oct. 7, 1908, in Lea County at Pearl post office.
He began work at the age of 16 as a chef on luxury yachts. He worked for notable families such as the DuPonts, Vanderbilts and others.
Mr. Roberts traveled the world from 1924-1940, when he went into the U.S. Air Force to serve during World War II.
After the war, he returned to the Roberts Family Ranch, where the original Pearl post office was located.
He ranched with his brothers and sisters until 1990, when he moved to Lubbock.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, Pearl and Nathan Roberts; five brothers, James Dean Roberts, Vernon Roberts, Merle Roberts, Nathan T. Roberts and Alton Roberts; and two sisters, Alva Pearl Roberts and Stella R. Peters, preceded him in death.
Clifford C. Turner
Services for Clifford C. Turner of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel.
Leon Green will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Haven Cemetery.
He will lie in state today from 1-5 p.m. and on Friday until service time.
Mr. Turner, 79, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Hobbs Healthcare Center. He was born July 27, 1921, in Louisiana. He married Naomi Coppedge.
He moved to Hobbs in 1954. He worked for McVay Drilling Co. until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Rusty Turner of Hobbs and Mitchell Turner of Lubbock; four daughters, Lavada Fulcher and Valita Brown, both of Hobbs, Valeria Clark of North Carolina and Lana Haddock of Arizona; a brother, Tommy Turner of Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Bill, Hershel and Earl Turner, preceded him in death.
Nona L. Vinson
LOVINGTON - Graveside services and burial for former Lovington resident Nona Lee Vinson of Cheney, Wash., will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Lovington Cemetery under the direction of Smith-Rogers Funeral Home.
Michael Raburn will officiate.
Mrs. Vinson, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 28, in Spokane. She married Floyd Vinson on Aug. 12, 1953, in Big Spring.
She was a Baptist. She was a retired chiropractor and pilot instructor.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Bill Piper of Lubbock; a daughter, Judy Ward of Cheney; eight sisters, Jackie Church of Lubbock, Ruby Rogers, Frances Kizziah, Bobbie Lavash and Maxine Raburn, all of Lovington, Betty Beatty of Roswell and Shirley Hooper-Garcia of Santa Fe; two brothers, Joe Collier of Lovington and Jake Collier of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents, Isom and Lena Collier of Lovington; and two sisters, Lillian Hall and Tommie Ray Collier, preceded her in death.
Andrew R.A. Garcia
LOVINGTON - A Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew Rene Aguilar Garcia of Lovington will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, at St. Thomas Catholic Church.
The Rev. Franklin Eichhorst will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lovington Cemetery under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Andrew, 11, died Sunday, Dec. 31, at Nor-Lea General Hospital. He was born Oct. 8, 1989, in Hobbs.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. He was a student at Yarbro Elementary School.
Survivors include his parents, Ben and Sandra Garcia of the family home; maternal grandparents, Ramon and Juanita Aguilar of San Antonio; paternal grandparents, Benjamin and Andrea Garcia of Loving; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bette S. Summers
Bette Sue Summers, a former resident of Hobbs, died Dec. 17 in Tulsa, Okla. She was 74.
She was the mother of Susan McGee Newsom and Michael James McGee, mother-in-law to David Newsom and Jayne Hauck McGee, grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of four.
She was a native of Oklahoma and a resident of Hobbs and Denver City for many years.
Interment was at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Hobbs.

Andrew, 11, died Sunday, Dec. 31 at Nor-Lea General Hospital in Lovington.
Manuel Acosta
Services for Manuel Acosta of Lovington will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 1301 N. 9th in Lovington.
Father Franklin Eichhorst will officiate. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home of Lovington.
Mr. Acosta, 72, died Friday, Dec. 29 at Nor-Lea General Hospital. He was born May 25, 1928 in Castelon, Texas. He was a member of the Crusillista at St. Thomas Catholic Church.
Surviviors include his wife, Tanis, of the home; two daughters, Maria Jaquez and Josie Acosta, both of Lovington; four sons, Manuel Acosta, Jr. of Las Cruces, Chon Acosta of Hobbs, Carlos Acosta of Hobbs and Ramon Acosta of Las Cruces; his parents Antonio and Josefina Acosta of Lovington; two brothers, Carlos Acosta of El Paso and Jose Acosta of Hobbs; four sisters, Gabina Gonzalez of Lovington, Rita Rodriquez of Lovington, Marcela Jasso fo Monahans and Juana Castillo of Hobbs, 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Weston A. Bruton
FLUVANNA, Texas - Services for former Lea County resident Weston Allen Bruton of Fluvana, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Bell Cypert-Seale Funeral Home in Snyder.
The Rev. Roland Bruns, pastor of Fluvanna Methodist Church will officiate. Cremation will follow the services.
Mr. Bruton, 77, died Sunday, Dec. 24, in Bangkok, Thailand. He was born Nov. 19, 1923, in Temple, Texas. He married Ilda Mae Jordan on June 26, 1952, in Lovington. She preceded him in death on June 20.
Survivors include a son, Greg Bruton of Bangkok; a daughter, Lana Renee Hardin of Amarillo, Texas; four sisters, Mildred Fitch of Temple, Texas, Beatrice Faile of Kilgore, Edna Smith of Post, Texas and Nora Thompson of San Angelo; five brothers, J.H. Bruton of Beaumont, Dalton Bruton of Oklahoma City, Okla., Eugene Bruton of Tahoka, Texas, and Darrell Bruton of Galena, Texas; and one grandson.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday.
Oscar A. Eitniear
SEMINOLE - Memorial services for Oscar A. Eitniear of the Hobbs stateline area will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, at Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel.
Bill Morgan will officiate.
Mr. Eitniear, 80, died Saturday, Dec. 30, at Seminole Memorial Hospital. He was born June 12, 1920, in Toledo, Ohio. He married Melba Cowger on Aug. 19, 1958, in Rising Sun, Ohio.
He attended school in Toledo. He served with the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II. For several years, he worked as a machinist for Toledo Edison Electric Co.
After moving to the Hobbs stateline area in 1962, Mr. Eitniear worked for Home Electric of Hobbs. He later became a heavy equipment operator for precinct No. 2 of Gaines County, retiring from Precinct No, of Yoakum County.
Survivors include his wife of the home; and a sister, Doris Sabo Denver, Colo.

Oliver C. Freeze
Services for Oliver L. Freeze of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.
The Rev. Jerry Johnson, the Rev. Tim Johnson and the Rev. Derek Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Mr. Freeze, 81, died Friday, Dec. 29, in Hobbs. He was born Oct. 18, 1919, in Navarro County, Texas. He married Lucille Holladay on Oct. 1, 1940, in Dawson, Texas.
He was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was at one time a deacon at Belvue Baptist Church. He also taught Sunday school for many years.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Alicia Martin of Hobbs, Donna Johnson of Albuquerque and Susanne Carner of Dallas; a brother, Leonard Freeze of Albuquerque; and a sister, Anita Jefferies of Bay Town, Texas; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
His parents, a brother, a sister, a grandson and two great-grandsons, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. on today and Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Quisenberry, 65, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, in Hobbs. He was born Jan. 6, 1935, in McAllen, Texas. He married Jo Bradshaw on Feb. 20, 1982, in Hobbs.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Sheila LeAnn Taylor of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Lisa Koschak of Burkburnett, Texas; a sister, Sherry Ryan of Fort Worth, Texas; and two grandchildren.
A brother, Bobby Quisenberry; a stepbrother, James Quisenberry; and a sister, Wanda Quisenberry, preceded him in death.
Presley S. Roberts

Mr. Roberts, 92, died Thursday, Dec. 28, at Harper Nursing Care in Lubbock. He was born Oct. 7, 1908, in Lea County.

Mr. Acosta, 72, died Friday, Dec. 29, at Nor-Lea General Hospital.
Maxine Coffer
LOVINGTON - Services for Maxine Coffer of Lovington will be held at 10 a.m. today at Bethany Funeral Home Chapel.
Leon Green will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lovington Cemetery.
Mrs. Coffer, 70, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, in Payson, Ariz. She was born Sept. 3, 1930, in Lovington. She married Paul Coffer in April 1946 in Lovington.
Survivors include her husband of the home; four children, Betty Ann Phillips of Payson, Jimmy Ray Coffer of San Antonio, Texas, Herbert Lee Coffer of Imperial, Calif., and P.J. Coffer of Fort Wayne, Ind.; her mother, Clytie Fleming of Oklahoma; two sisters, Jackie Chapman and Carolyn Fleming, both of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Her father and one sister preceded her in death.
Ruth P. Goss
REFUGIO, Texas - Services for Ruth Pearl Goss of Hobbs will be held at 11 a.m. today at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Refugio.
Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Refugio.
Mrs. Goss, 89, died Tuesday, Dec. 26. She was born Jan. 6, 1911, in McKeesport, Pa. She married Andy Goss on Sept. 12, 1946. He preceded her in death.
She was a longtime resident of Refugio, before moving to Palestine, Texas, and then to Hobbs.
She graduated from Indiana State Teachers College in Pennsylvania. She taught home economics in Pennsylvania from 1932-1946 and second grade in Refugio from 1957-1970.
Mrs. Goss was a member of First Baptist Church in Refugio, then Southside Baptist Church in Palestine and later Taylor Memorial Baptist Church in Hobbs.
She was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma and the Palestine Southside Baptist Ukulele Band.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol White of Hobbs; a son, Andy Goss Jr. of Houston; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Her parents, Edgar Clark Zimmerman and Orpha Everett Zimmerman; and a brother, Ellis Zimmerman, also preceded her in death.
