Misty M. Blakley-Evans

Services for Misty Michelle Blakley-Evans of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at Castle Avenue Baptist Church. The Rev. Leon Green will officiate.

Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

Services are under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.

Mrs. Blakley-Evans, 21, died Friday, July 6, at Lea Regional Medical Center. She was born May 9, 1980, in Hobbs to Larry D. and Debbie Blakley. She married Ronnie Evans on Feb. 11, 1999, in Hobbs.

Mrs. Blakley-Evans attended Hobbs High School and was on the honor roll.

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Evans; one son, Ronnie Lawrence Evans Jr.; her parents; one brother, Jeffery Don Blakley; and one sister, Lacey Dawn Blakley, all of Hobbs; two half-sisters, Amy Blakley of Phoenix and Khristy Howard of Amarillo; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stoney Craine of Denver City; and paternal grandparents, Jearl and Alice Blakley of Hobbs.

She was preceded in death by one half-sister, Jennifer Howard.

Evelyn Thomas Maschek

Services for Evelyn Thomas Maschek of Hobbs will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. J. Gorton Smith will officiate.

Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Twin Oaks Memorial Park in Artesia.

Services are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thomas Maschek, 92, died Thursday, July 5, in Hobbs. She was born Oct. 30, 1908, in Hereford, Texas. She married Ted A. Maschek, who preceded her in death.

She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and taught in the special education program in Hobbs for many years. After her retirement, Mrs. Thomas Maschek volunteered in the local history room at the Hobbs Public Library.

She is survived by one daughter, Martha Maschek Kriefall of Milwaukee; two brothers, Oliver Thomas of Lubbock and Hughes Thomas of Austin; two grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends in Hobbs, Artesia and Milwaukee.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas Dixon Maschek.

Johnny Hanson

MIDLAND - Services for Johnny Hanson of Midland will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at Golf Course Road Church of Christ. Ronnie White will officiate.

Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Services are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hanson, 54, died Monday, July 9, at a Midland hospital after a seven-year battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 24, 1947, in Brownfield to Wayne Preston and Lera Pearl Hanson.

Mr. Hanson graduated from Brownfield High School in 1965 and attended Midland College. On Dec. 21, 1965, he married Susan Elaine Kropp in Juarez, Mexico.

He was employed by Permian Corporation for 23 years and later owned his own business, Midland Pool Service. He also taught diesel mechanics at Midland College for five years.

Mr. Hanson was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society's "Road to Recovery," driving patients to and from the Allison Cancer Center to receive their treatments. He was a member of the Midland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Golf Course Road Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of Midland; two daughters, Sherry Elaine Johnston of Tyler and Amy Kay Hanson of Midland; his mother; one sister, Janice Reaves of Hobbs; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Midland Christian School or to the Look Good, Feel Good Shop at the Allison Cancer Center.

Estevan C. Florez

Services for Estevan C. Florez of Hobbs are pending with Bethany Funeral Home.

Mr. Florez, 48, died Tuesday, July 10, in Galveston, Texas, after an extended illness.

Louis B. Croft

LUBBOCK - Services for Louis Bryan Croft of Lubbock will be held Friday, July 13, at Sanders Funeral Home.

Mr. Croft, 77, died Sunday, July 8, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock after a lengthy illness. He was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Silverton, Texas.

He married Lilly Whitley Richards on Dec. 18, 1962, in Amarillo. She preceded him in death on April 18, 1995.

Mr. Croft was a deacon of Westmont Baptist Church for 12 years. He was a retired electrician of 38 years. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Richards of Hobbs and Linda Sepeda of Lubbock; one son, Bobby Richards of Lubbock; one sister, Norma Jean Lyles of Tulia, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Croft was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Lorree Perrin

LOVINGTON - Services for Lorree Perrin of Lovington will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Bethany Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home. Brother Jim Camp will officiate.

Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery.

Mrs. Perrin, 65, died Sunday, July 8, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born June 10, 1936, in Spur, Texas, to R.L. and Agnes Stubblefield.

Mrs. Perrin was a graduate of Plains High School. She married Stephen Charlie Perrin on Dec. 6, 1952, in Spur. The couple moved to Lovington in 1955 where they owned and operated Charlie's Service for over 20 years. Mrs. Perrin also worked for Gandy Corporation for 11 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Luckie Perrin of Lovington; two sons, Stephen Perrin of Lovington and Charlie Perrin of Aztec; three sisters, Eva Jean Ryan of Midland, Cora Maldando and Tippy Joiner both of Denver; a brother, R.M. Joiner of Smithville, Texas; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Danny Watson, Tommy Ryan, John Ryan, R.L. Smith, David Bonds and Ken Shanan.

Honorary pallbearer is Bobby Fisher.

Helen Perkins

Services for Helen Perkins of Hobbs are pending under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Perkins, 70, died Monday, July 9, at Lea Regional Medical Center. She was born March 18, 1931.

Survivors include her husband, L.C. Perkins Jr.

Wayne Maxwell

LOVINGTON - Services for Wayne Maxwell of Lovington are pending with Bethany Funeral Home.

Mr. Maxwell, 68, died Saturday, July 7, at the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque.

Ernest Branam Jr.

Services for Ernest Branam Jr. of Hobbs will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 9, at American Baptist Church. The Rev. Chris Barnett will officiate. Services are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

He will lie in state from 2-8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m.-noon Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Branam, 78, died Thursday, July 5, in Hobbs. He was born May 6, 1923, in Anadarko, Okla. He married Vera Riddle 58 years ago in Anadarko.

Mr. Branam was a member of First United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was a prisoner of war in World War II. He was honorably discharged and received a Purple Heart.

Mr. Branam graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a master's degree in science. He taught physics, chemistry and biology in the Hobbs school system.

He served as local president of the National Education Association for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners and Eastern Star.

Mr. Branam is survived by his wife; two daughters, Shirley Wheeler of Hobbs and Bobby Lyall of Houston; two sisters, Ola Orff of Tuttle, Okla. and Charlsie Ulrey of Biloxi, Miss.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Branam and an infant brother.

Manuel L. Vozza

EUNICE - Services for Manuel L. Vozza of Eunice will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 9, at St. Clare Catholic Church. Father Valentine Jankowski will officiate. Services are under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 1-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. A prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Vozza, 49, died Thursday, July 5, at his home. He was born June 22, 1952, in Clifton, Ariz.

Mr. Vozza graduated from Clifton High School in 1970. He moved from Clifton to Eunice in 1974. He worked in the oilfield for 27 years, and for ABC Rental Tool as a shop foreman. He also worked for New Mexico Junior College as an ABE assessment specialist. He was a very loving father.

Mr. Vozza is survived by his wife, Alva Vozza, of the home; one son, Tony Vozza of Eunice; one daughter, Aztrid Vozza of Eunice; four sisters, Gloria Armijo of Sheldon, Ariz., Clara Moreno of Tucson, Rosa Martinez of Salaman, Ariz., and Sylvia Smith of Stafford, Ariz.; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces.

Mr. Vozza was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Vozza Sr., in 1997; one son, Armando Vozza, in 1995; and one sister, Maria Helena Vozza.

Carol J. Otwell

LOVINGTON - Graveside services for Carol J. Otwell of Lovington will be held at 10 a.m. today at Lovington Cemetery. The Rev. K.M. McCarthick will officiate. Services are under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home.

Mrs. Otwell, 61, died Thursday, July 5, at the Country Cottage Retirement Center in Hobbs. She was born April 21, 1940, in Lubbock to John and Mahala Cartwright.

Mrs. Otwell moved to Lovington in 1985. She was a secretary in the medical field for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Joel Otwell of Irving, Texas, and Stephen Otwell of San Diego; three brothers, Johnny Cartwright of Lovington, Duane Cartwright of Amarillo and Harold Cartwright of Lubbock; and one sister, Lavonne Hill of Houston.

Mrs. Otwell was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Paul Cartwright; and one sister, Nancy Horner.

Manuel L. Vozza

EUNICE - Services for Manuel L. Vozza of Eunice are pending under the direction of Calvary Funeral Home of Eunice.

Mr. Vozza, 49, died Thursday, July 5, in Eunice. He was born June 22, 1952, in Clifton, Ariz.
