Stanley G. Wasson
Stanley G. Wasson, 78, died Jan. 7, 2000 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Reno.
A Lovelock native, he was born Jan. 6, 1921, to Harold and Eva (Poncho) Wasson and had lived in Lovelock most of his life.
Wasson worked at Eagle Pitcher Industries in Lovelock as a heavy-equipment operator for more than 25 years, retiring in 1983. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Silver Star. He also served on the Selective Service board in Pershing County in the 1960's.
Surviving are wife, Naomi, son Glen, daughter Sherri Sandusky, and sisters Ethelyn Osborne, Adele Snooks and Amy Wasson, all of Lovelock; daughter Cherly Wasson, brother Henry Pancho, and sister Alda Pearl Rivers, all of Reno; brother Elmer Pancho of Shurz; three granddaughters and a great-granddaughter.
The funeral was held on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at the Lovelock Community Center, with burial at Lovelock Indian Cemetery, under the direction of Lovelock Funeral Home.
Julie Anne Rapp
Julie Anne Rapp, 29 died at her home in Bountiful, Utah on Dec. 28, 1999.
She was the daughter of Phillip and Donna Seager of Lovelock, and Craig and Roberta Gilbert of Woodward, Okla.
Mrs. Rapp had completed her high school education in Oklahoma and had graduated with a degree in child development/education from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She was also an accomplished vocalist and sang for many events in the Salt Lake City area.
She is survived by her husband Paul Rapp, and her three small children- Tiarra, Kyra and Ethan. She is also survived by parents Phil and Donna Seager, and Craig and Roberta Gilbert, Mother-in-law Donna Rapp, Sister Connie Liveley (Donald), brother Brett Gilbert (Krystal), and by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs. Rapp took place on Jan. 3, 2000 at the Orchard 7th Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bountiful, Utah. Burial was at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
Willard Roscoe Anderson
Willard Roscoe Anderson, 77, died March 25, 2000, at his residence.
A native of California, he was born May 14, 1922 to Charles Raymond and Estelle C. (Collins) Anderson and had lived in Lovelock since 1972, coming from Nevada City, Calif., where he had lived for two years. He also lived in Seattle.
Anderson worked in ship building in the Merchant Marines and he was a Navy veteran of World War II.
His wife preceded him in death.
Surviving are daughters, Bonnie Gore of Wendover, Corrine Cobb and Carol Reed, both of Lovelock, Betty Lynn Diefendorfer of Portland, Ore and Davina Raye Buck of Lake View, Ore; brother, Lloyd of Gig Harbor, Wash; nine grandchildren, 26 great grand-children, 11 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.'
The rosary will be held Friday, March 31, 5 p.m. at Lovelock Funeral Home and the funeral service will be held Saturday, April 1, 3 p.m., also at the funeral home, 655 11th St. Lovelock.
Burial will be held at Big Meadows Cemetery, Lovelock.
John Duane Vogler
John Duane Vogler, 91, died March 24, 2000 at Pershing General Hospital.
He was born Nov. 18 1908 to Lewis and Grace Hibbs Vogler in Salmon, Idaho, coming to Lovelock in 1950 from Mountain Home, Idaho.
Vogler was a businessman and prospector for more than 20 years while in Lovelock.
He was a member of Elmore Lodge, A.F. and A.M., Scottish Rite Mason, Kerak Temple and past president of Lovelock Shrine Club. He was a past patron of the order of The Easter Star (Mariah Chapter).
Vogler is survived by sons Mike of Lodi, Calif., Glen of Reno, and grandson Mike of Reno.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 31, 2000 at Lovelock Funeral Home Chapter 2 p.m.
Cremation will be under the direction of Lovelock Funeral Home.
A memorial is being established with Pershing General Hospital and Nursing Home, 855 6th Street, Lovelock 89419.
Jessie Mae Web Lewis
Jessie Mae Webb Lewis, 56 died March 24, 2000, at Pershing General Hospital.
A native of California, she was born Nov 23, 1943 to Jesse Thomas and Anges Rowena (Hardwick) Webb and had lived in Lovelock for the past five years, coming from Sacramento, Calif., where she lived for 28 years.
Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker.
Surviving are husband, Jerry, son, Jay and daughter, Joyce Smith, all of Lovelock; sons, John of Modesto, Calif., Jimmy of Winters, Calif., and Jack of Sacramento; Daughter, Judith Crane of Detroit; mother, Anges Webb and sister, Kim Williams, both of Muskogee, Okla; brothers, Gerald Hespen of Auburn, Calif., Bud Hespen of Vacaville, Calif., and Jim Hespen of Portola, Calif., and 18 grandchildren.
A grave site funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Lone Mountain Cemetery, under the direction of Lovelock Funeral Home.
Anna Barrick
Anna Barrick, 74 of Lovelock died April 4, 2000 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 11, 1924 to John Geist and Amelia Brown in Mt. Carmel, Pa.
Mrs. Barrick attended school until the age of 17 years old. She lived in Pennsylvania for 20 years until coming to Elko. She lived in Lovelock for a short time.
She was a retired bookkeeper for a funeral home business, and she was also a member of the Daughters of America Revolution, and a member of the TV Board of Elko County.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Barrick of Lovelock.
Robert Herman Fuss
Robert Herman Fuss, 72, died April 21, 2000 at his residence. A Lovelock native, he was born Sept 27, 1927, to Frank and Maude (Petton) Fuss had lived in Reno for the past 52 years, coming from Lovelock.
Fuss was a purchasing agent for Washoe County Road Division. He was a member of the South Reno Lyons Club 40, Alpha Lamba Chi and a barbershop quarter, a former owner of AAA Rentals and Phillips 66 and an Army Veteran of World War II.
His parents, brothers, Clarence and Frank, sister, Muriel, proceeded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia, son Robert G, and daughter Cheryl Ann Devoe and Corinne Enslin, all of Reno; sister Anita Aller of Washington state and Helen Newman of Chester, Washington; and six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A funeral was scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, April 24th, at Walton s Funeral home in Reno.
Cremation was at Sierra Crematory.
A Memorial fund is being established with the University of Nevada Reno, Foundation 162, Cancer Research Gifts, Reno 89557.
Walter Brinkerhoff
Walter Brinkerhoff, 93, of Lovelock died May 7, 2000, at his residence.
An Alamo native he was born Dec. 30, 1906, to David and Nancy Adeline (Allen) Brinkerhoff and had lived in Lovelock since 1944, coming from Winemucca.
Brinkerhoff was a farmer in Lovelock and longline trapper for 20 years. He was appointed to the Committee of Federal Land Laws, was instrumental in establishing the Marzen House Museum in Lovelock, belonged to the Nevada State Game Commission and was a member of the National and Nevada Trapper Hall of Fame, and the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lovelock Ward.
Wife, Viola (Johnson) died March 12, 1994 and seven brothers and sisters proceed him in death.
Surviving are sons, Allen and Val, and daughter, DeVoy Munk, all of Lovelock; sister, Marguerite Christensen of Flowell, Utah and Elsie Brinkerhoff and Florence Robison, both of Saint George, Utah; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 12 noon until 1p.m. Friday funeral service at the LDS church, 220 Maple Drive, Lovelock, with burial at Big Meadows Cemetery.

John William Meyers
John Williams Meyers, 44, died May 13, 2000 at Mercy San Juan Hospital, Calf.
He was born in Aisha, Japan, on an U.S. Military Base, Jan 28, 1956, to Harold Eugene and Kiyoko (Nakayama) Meyers and had lived in Lovelock since 1985, coming from Imaly, where he had lived since 1979. Previously he had lived in Fair Oaks, Calif.
Meyers was employed as a prison guard at Lovelock Correctional Center, worked law enforcement in the sheriff's office, and was a cook for Burn's Brothers Caf in Mill City.
He was a scoutmaster Troop 890, Order of the Arrow, a member of AYSO soccer association, a little League umpire and an U.S. Army Veteran.
Surviving are wife, Cindy, sons, Thomas, John James, and Jeffery and daughter Kaye Lynn Meyers, all of Lovelock; mother Kiyoko Meyers and sister, Kathy Meyers, both of Fair Oaks and brother, Jeff of Shelton, Wash.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lovelock Funeral Home, 665 11th Street.
A funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Lovelock Community Center, 8th Street, with burial at Big Meadow Cemetery.
Tom Russell
Tom Russell, 49 formerly of Lovelock, died at his residence in Somerset Calif., May 17.
He was born Jan. 25, 1951 in Great Lakes Ill.
Russell worked in the grocery retail industry for more than 30 years and he managed the Safeway in Lovelock for 15 years.
His survivors are his wife, Shawnee Russell of Somerset; daughters Lacey Russell of Reno, and Rachel Russell and Taylor Russell, both of Somerset; brother Bill Russell of Denver Colo.; and sister; Linda Russell of Grand Junction, Colo.
Services were held Sunday, may 21 at Pioneer Bible Church in Somerset, Calif. Officiating was Pastor Rob Langford. A private interment was held.
Arrangements were handled by Green valley Mortuary in Cameron Park, Calif.
Win-Jey-Chi-gil Na-Whoo-Wee Gail
Win-jey-Chi-gil Na-Whoo-Www Gali, (aka Dewey Garcia), 22, died June 2, 2000, at Washoe Medical Center, Reno.
A native born of Oakland, Calif., he was born April 23, 1978, and had lived in Lovelock and Fallon for the past four years, coming from Oakland.
Gail attended Hintil Ku Ka and Dewey High School. He was a member of the Mono Dancers in California.
Surviving are his companion, LaCarrie Hughes and daughter Raven Garcia, both of Fallon; sisters, Taweah Garcia, Sarah and Brandi Guevara; father, Bruce Gali and brother, Mark Gali; mother and stepfather, Shirley (Garcia) and Larry Guevara, all of Oakland.
A Memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. July 1 at the Paiute Tribal Gym, Lovelock.
Cremation will be at Truckee Meadows Crematory, Sparks under the direction of Reno Memorial Cremation and Burial Society.
La Vaune Harris
Judith Alice La Vaune Larsen Harris, 85, also know as La Vaune, died Tuesday, June 13, at La,Crosse Nursing Home in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, where she had been recovering from breaking a hip on May 1.
Mrs. Harris was a resident of Lovelock, formerly from Hardin, Mont. She was born Thanksgiving Day, Nov.26, 1914, in Inwood,Iowa. The only child of Hattie E. Dyvig and Lauritz Larsen, the family moved to the Hardin area when La Vaune was a small child, and resided and farmed on the west bench.
She graduated from Hardin High School, June3,1932, and had been looking forward to the All Class Reunion 2000, in Hardin, Mont.
She and M. W. (Bud) Harris were married Nov.6, 1937, in Big Horn County Mont., and theirs was the first marriage license to be obtained in the new courthouse at that time.
Mrs. Harris was active in her church, First American Lutheran in Hardin, and also attended Grace-St Francis Community Church in Lovelock since her move here three years ago to be with her daughter, Judy.
She was skilled at making Kranza Kake, a Norwegian wedding cake for family and friends for special occasions, and Lefse, too. She did much hand work and it adorns the walls of her daughter's home.
Mrs. Harris was also a member of Neighbors of Woodcraft Lodge, the Hardin Senior Citizen's, and until ill health took her away she was always visiting at the hospital and nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother and her husband Bud Harris. She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Harry) Mosby of Lovelock and, her son, Robert (R.L.) (Mary Ann) Harris of Hayden Lake, Idaho; four grandchildren, Rita (Theodore) Gilsdorf-Arensmeyer, Wade (Julie) Gilsdorf, Carol (Robert) Haskins, and Michael Harris; six great-grandchildren, Christina, Daniel, Madison and Makenzy Gilsdorf, Hattie Arensmeyer, and Briana Haskins.
A Celebration of Life, is planned for Thursday, June29, 10 a. m. at First American Lutheran Church, Hardin, Mont.
Erma Elizabeth McDougal
Erma Elizabeth McDougal, 95, died Dec. 24, 1999 in Englewood, Colo.
She was born June 5, 1904 to L.M. and Lena Summerville in Kenmar, North Dakota.
She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1925 and taught home economics for two years before marrying Harvey McDougal.
Mrs. McDougal resided in Rio Vista, Calif., from 1942 to 1969 and from 1971 to 1988. During 1970 and 1971 she lived in Lovelock. Since 1988 she had resided to Englewood.
She was predeceased by Husband Harvey McDougal in 1969 and grandson David McDougal in 1982.
She is survived by daughter Mary Stewart of Highlamps Ranch, Colo; son Richard McDougal of Lovelock; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A Memorial service was held in Englewood on Dec. 29 1999 and an inurnment will be held in Rio Vista, Calif., at a later date.
Remembrances may be made to an institution of the donor's choice.
Susan M. Quin-DeBlock
Susan M. Quin-DeBlock, 47, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999 at her home Portland, Ore.
A native of Portland, she was born June 24, 1952 to Harry and Genevieve Quin.
She graduated from David Douglas High School and earned an associate's degree in art and library sciences from Mt. Hood Community College.
Mrs. Quin-DeBlock was employed at the Multnomah County Library as a clerk, specializing in book repair. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, fabric collecting and surface design.
She is survived by her husband Paul DeBlock of Portland, Sister Terri Quin of Lovelock, stepmother Margaret Quin of Portland, stepsister Gudran Crossgove of Portland, stepson Paul Jeremy DeBlock of Portland and other aunts and cousins.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Jan 8 at 1 p.m. at Wilhelm's Funeral Chapel, 6637 S.E. Milwaukee Ave. Portland Ore.
Memorial contributions are to directed to the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 N.E. Columbia Blvd., Portland, Ore. 97211.
Cremation was under the direction of the Wilhelm Funeral Home.
Burghard Raymond "Birdie" Krocak
Burghard Raymond "Birdie" Krocak died Dec. 27, 2000, at Washoe Medical Center.
Born to Frank and Anna (Kaisersatt) Krocak, Oct. 14, 1919 in Montgomery, Minn, he was one of eight children including Lambert, Frances, Eugene and Arnie Krocak; Margaret Bolls and Lucille Belanger preceded him in death. He has one surviving sister, Florence Burlile of Nampa, Idaho.
Krocak came to Lovelock in 1940 where he worked at several mines in the area. In later years he was of invaluable service to the many ranchers in the area as a mechanic. He retired from Carpenter's Equipment in 1984.
In 1943 he married Tina Quilici, whom he was married to until her death in 1987. Their son Michael Krocak was born in 1949 and now resides in Honolulu, Hawaii. In addition to his son, he was a father figure to many children including Dan and Anna Hill.
Margaret Anne Kofoed Harms Hastings
Margaret "Mardie" Anne Kofoed Harms Hastings, 73, died Dec. 30, 2000, at her residence.
A Reno native, she was born Jan. 27, 1927, to Everett E. and Genevieve Martha (Pollard) Kofoed and was a lifetime Nevada resident.
Mrs. Hastings worked for First National Bank and was a clerk typist for the City of Sparks. She was a Reno Business College and Pershing County High School graduate.
First husband, Donald L. Harms, died July 30, 1975, and second husband, Raymond Hastings, died Feb. 21, 1986.
Surviving are sons, Ed Harms of Sparks and Harold Harms of Sun Valley; Daughter, Donna Winters of Hawthorne; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Walton's Sparks Funeral Home, 1745 Sullivan Lane. Cremation is under the direction of the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to your favorite charity.
Mary Quilici Jevning
Mary Quilici Jevning, 84, died Dec. 25, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Reno.
Born in Lovelock, Aug. 19, 1916, to Italian immigrants, she was the youngest daughter born to Lawrence and Lena Quilici. There were four siblings.
As a young adult, she and her sister, Ida Fontana, owned and operated Smokey's Bar, on Broadway. They continued to operate the business until the mid 1960's. She married Ronald Jevning in 1940.Three children were born: Ron Jevning, Jr., Marlowe and Nan.
In the late 1960's Mary, her husband and daughter moved to Reno, where she attended the University of Nevada for two years.
Mrs. Jevning and her son Marlowe owned and operated Lovelock Janitorial Service after her husband's death in 1974. A granddaughter, Laurel, was born in 1986.
Her great loves were her family, her community, and her pets.
Survivors include her children, granddaughter, a sister, Diana Heineke, of Reno, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial mass was celebrated Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000 at St. John's Catholic Church.
Adelle Scoff Woodward
Adelle Scoff Woodward, 89, of Dyke, Nev., died Jan. 1, 2001, at Humboldt General Hospital in Winnemucca.
She was a life-long resident of Humboldt County, born Sept. 6, 1911, in San Jose, Calif.
She and her family moved to Lovelock when she was a young child. They lived in Lovelock where her parents Ida and Joseph Scoff owned a dairy.
They moved to Winnemucca in 1919 where they owned the Winnemucca Dairy until 1928 when they opened Scott Shady Camp. She was schooled in Humboldt County.
In 1934, she married her husband of 63 years, Harold Woodward. They moved to the Woodward Ranch where they raised four daughters.
Mrs. Woodward was a homemaker, mother and grandmother, living at the ranch until the time of her death. She know no stranger and her home was always open to welcome all family and friends around her dinner table.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Arthur Scott, and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Woodward is survived by her daughters, Haroldine Searle and son-in-law, Roger, of El Sobrante, Calif., Miriam Toland and son-in-law, Don, Jo Bidart and son-in-law Frank, of Winnemucca, Delia Nuffer and son-in-law Rob of Woodward Ranch, 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, Brother, Felix Scott, sister, Josephine Twichell of Winnemucca and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at 10 a. m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Winnemucca. Cremation was under the direction of Lovelock Funeral Home Lovelock.
Pauline M. Cerini
Pauline M. Cerini, 85, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 10, 2001 at Pershing General Hospital. She was born July 3, 1915 in Austin, Texas.
Mrs. Cerini attended school in Austin. She came to Nevada about 1930. She married John A. Cerini, Sr., Dec. 18, 1937.
She is survived by son John A. Cerini, Jr., of Lovelock, Daughter Bette Springer of Reno, eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and by son Clinn (Bill) Lamb, Jr.
Cremation was held in Fallon at Smith Family Crematory. No funeral services are to be held. Lovelock Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Hallie C. Pfeifer
Hallie C. Pfeifer, 84, died at the Auburn Garden Convalescent Home in Auburn, Calif., on December 30, 2000.
Pfeifer was born on the Montana and North Dakota line on April 16, 1916 to Frank and Ida Pfeifer.
He was a long-time resident of Lovelock.
Pfeifer worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator and miner.
While in the Navy during WW11, Pfeifer was a Sea-Bee.
He is preceded in death by son Hallie W. Pfeifer, Jr., who died at 16 due to a school-related accident.
Pfeifer is survived by a daughter, Bonny Pfeifer Boehler and a stepdaughter, Mary Van Blarcom, both of Elko, grandson Tim Cress of Elko. Other survivors include twin brother Howard of Applegate, Calif., and two sisters Fern Halverson and Edna Ahl, both of Montana. There are also several nieces and nephews.
There are no services planned at this time.
