Clarence William Fuss
Clarence William Fuss, 79, of Sparks died Jan. 9, 2000 at Washoe Medical Center in Reno.
A Lovelock native, he was born Oct. 9, 1920 to Frank H. and Maude (Pelton) Fuss and had lived in Sparks since 1957, come from Lovelock.
Fuss spent his childhood in Lovelock attending local schools. He graduated from Pershing County High School in 1938.
The Fuss Family were early settlers in the Lovelock Valley where Fuss' grandfather owned a farm in Lower Valley.
Fuss was a third generation Nevadan whose childhood friends gave him the nickname Sniggs.
In 1942, Fuss completed a pilot training program at Lovelock and enlisted in the Army Air Corps the same year. He was subsequently assigned to the 8th Air Force and stationed in England. He flew 35 sorties over Europe as a pilot of the B24 bomber.
For his war-time service he received the air medal with five clusters and several battle stars.
Returning to Lovelock, he purchased the Richfield Oil dealership and in dealership and partnership operated the Richfield station.
In 1955 he was elected Mayor of Lovelock. He resigned the office in 1957 when the family moved to Sparks.
Fuss was also an auditor for the state of Nevada, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Masonic Lodge in Lovelock and the Reno B.P.O. Elks Lodge.
His wife, Betty died March 24, 1997.
Surviving are the sons, John of Niceville, Fla., and Patrick of Sparks; brothers, Bob of Reno and Frank of Boise, Idaho; sisters, Anita Aller of Spokane, Wash., and Helen Newman of Chester, Calif.; and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be held today Thursday, from noon until 1 p.m. funeral at Walton's Spark Funeral Home, 1745 Sullivan Lane, with burial at 2:30 p.m. at Northern Nevada Veteran's Way, Fernley.
A Memorial fund is being established with the American Lung Association, 6119 Ridgeview Court, Reno 89511.
John Arrascada
John Arrascada, 74, died Jan. 10, 2001 at Washoe Medical Center in Reno.
He was born in Elko, April 18, 1926 to Pete and Bonificia (Salutege) Arrascada.
Arrascada moved to Lovelock in 1958. He was a WWII veteran, a one time president of the Pershing County Horseman's Association, a Lovelock Volunteer Fireman Department member and ambulance driver for 34 years, a member of the Pershing County Search and Rescue team for five years.
He was married to Cleo Brown in San Francisco, Calif., on Nov. 4, 1965.
Surviving are his widow, Cleo Arrascada, of Lovelock, brother Alec Arrascada of Carson City, three daughters, two step-daughters, one step-son, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 15, at the Lovelock Funeral Home.
Burial was at the Lone Mountain Cemetery in Lovelock.
Jean Evelyn Tachoires Coppin
Jean Evelyn Tachoires Coppin, 58, died Jan. 15, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.
A Reno native, she was born July 5, 1942, to Maurice and Phoebe (Byron) Tochoires and had lived in Reno since August, coming from Incline Village, where she had lived for 31 years. She also lived in Lovelock and graduated from Pershing County High School.
Mrs. Coppin was an educator, teaching for 28 years at Incline High School. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno and the University of San Francisco, where she earned a master's degree.
Her father preceded her in death.
Surviving are husband Ed, mother Phoebe Tachoires, and son Kelly, all of Reno; several aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service is scheduled for 11a.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church, 736 McCourry Blvd., Incline Village, under the direction of Reno Memorial Cremation and Burial Society.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established with Saint Mary's Hospice, 360 S. Grant Drive, Reno, Nev. 89509.
Lena Nan Quilici Fontana
Nan Fontana, 63, died Jan. 8, 2001 at California Pacific Hospital in San Francisco, Calif. She was a native of Lovelock.
She was born June 7, 1937 to Angelo and Julia Quilici. She moved to Reno in 1062, and worked for Boomtowm for 27 years.
Her parents, sister Tina Krocak, and brother Elmo Quilici preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband Mike, son Donald, and daughters Julie Fontanaand Gina Guglidemo, all of Reno; brothers John, Julio and Frank of Lovelock, Gino of Elko, Harry of Winnemucca, sisters Bruna Pope of Reno, Angelina Shaden and Norma Hill of Lovelock; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
At her request, no funeral was held. Cremation was under the direction of Pacific Internment San Francisco California.
A celebration of life was held on Jan. 13, 2001 at the home of her son.
Michael Ray McKenna
Michael Ray McKenna, 53, died in Paso Robles, Calif., Jan. 19, 2001. He lived in Paso Robles for 18 years.
McKenna was born in Nebraska, Dec. 12, 1947. He served as a ranger in the 101 Airborne during the Vietnam Campaign. He was honored with a Bronze Star with cluster and two Purple Hearts.
He enjoyed fishing and his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
McKenna is survived by one brother, Timothy McKenna of Sacramento; two daughters, Mary Nugent and Cheryl Aitken, both of Winnemucca, Nev.; four grandchildren Ehin Nugent, Aimee, Katelyn and Julia Aitken.
He was preceded in death by brother David McKenna in 1998, sister Cheryl Linn in 1954 and his parents Walter and Mary McKenna.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001 at Calvary Chapel of Paso Robles.
Internment/disposition was handled by Blackhills Nation Cemetery, S.D.
Miriam Burson
Miriam Burson, 84, died Jan. 30,2000 at Pershing General Hospital.
She was born April 24,1915 to Lawrence Kemerly and Laura (Knepper) Kemerly in Akron, Ohio. She worked for the Ohio Oil Company until W.W. 11 when she became a civil servant working at the Presidio of San Francisco and Fort Ord in California.
Mrs. Burson is survived by a son, Eris Burson; a brother, Robert Kemerley and three grandchildren, Brittany Burson, Cody Burson and Anthony Burson.
Internment will be at Pacific Grove, Calif., where she will rest next to her husband, Dr. E.H. Burson.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Jim Dorian
Jim Dorian, 72, of Orovada, Nev., died Feb. 1, 2001 after a long battle with cancer.
He was a resident of Orovada for 40 years. He was born Nov. 8, 1928, and raised in Courtland, Calif., prior to moving to Buffalo Ranch in Orovada in 1961.
In 1965 he leased the Rocky View Inn and he purchased the Orovada Mercantile in 1968, at which time he became the postmaster of the Orovada Post Office and remained so until Dec. 31, 1999 when he retired after 32 years of service.
Dorian was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed sports, especially football. He served in the U.S. Army and in the Korean War from December 1950 to November 1952.
He is survived by his wife, Gussie, of 47 years; brother Bob Dorian, and three daughters, Lynette and husband, Wes Murphy, Janie and husband Buzz Zimmerman, Sally and husband Mike Stager. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Cory and Travis Zimmerman, Nikki Rounds, Derick Driggs, and McKenzie Stager.
A rosary was held Sunday, Feb. 4 at Albertson Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 5 at the Orovada Community Hall.

Noel Greene
Noel Greene, 63, died Feb. 9, 2001 at his home in Imlay.
Greene was born Dec. 25, 1937 in Sioux Falls, S.D, to Rob and Lillian Chesley Roy.
He married Margaret Beaner, Nov. 26, 1955 in Montrose, S. D. and together they raised five children. The family moved to Imlay approximately 20 years ago from Brea, Calif.
After Greene retired as plant manager from the Crockett Container Company, he was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Cleo, Bonnie and Lisa, and brothers Jack, Don and Jim.
He is survived by his wife Margaret of 37 years, sons Michael Greene of Rialto, Calif., Jerry Greene of Imlay, Brian Greene of Lovelock, and Darrell Greene of Winnemucca, daughter Diane Ledesma of Chino, Calif., sisters Coleen, Mitzi and Zelda, brother Zane, grandchildren Mathew and Nicole Ledesma, Jake, Mitch and Ralene Greene, Mike Conner and Tia Pilikian.
A funeral mass was held Feb. 15, 2001 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Winnemucca.
Albertson Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Edgar Ardent Hollingsworth, Sr.
Edgar Ardent Hollingsworth, Sr., 76, died on Feb. 11, 2001 at the Northern Nevada Medical Center in Reno.
Hollingsworth was born in Lovelock on Oct. 15, 1924 to Edgar Ardent Hollingsworth and Ruth Davis Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters LaVerne Hollingsworth and Nancy Gomes, and brother Walter D. Sullivan.
Hollingsworth graduated from Pershing County High School. He went to UNR-Mackay School of Mines and graduated from UNR with a degree in mining engineering. He attended American College in Washington, D.C., the University of Arizona and graduated with a degree in law.
He followed a career in mining and then practiced law until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, Nevada Bar Association, registered Professional Mining Engineer and co-founder of Nevada Miners and Prospectors.
He was a member of several Catholic churches, including Little Flower, Our Lady of Snows and St. Thomas. He enlisted in the army in 1941, was stationed in Europe during WW11 and was a member of the Army Specialized Training Program.
Hollingsworth is survived by daughters Cydney A. Liles of Reno and Kimberly M. Chamberlain of sandy, Utah; sons Edgar A. of Brentwood, Calif., Jeffrey V. of Reno, Jon P. of Portland; sisters Leola H. Armstrong of Carson city and Marilyn Cervantes of Sparks; brothers Eugene (Sully) Sullivan of Reno and Terry Sullivan of Washoe Valley; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001 at the Little Flower Church. Cremation was handled by Masonic Memorial gardens and funeral arrangements were by O'Brien-Rogers & Crosby.

Wayne W. Goodin
Wayne W. Goodin, 82, died Feb.16, 2001 at St. Mary's Regional Center in Reno, Nev.
Goodin was born in Lovelock on Jan. 19, 1919 to William H. and Blanche N. (Young) Goodin.
He was a graduate of Reno High School, and a graduate of Reno High School, and a graduate of the pharmacy school at Capital College in Denver, Colo. He was a practicing pharmacist for many years in Nevada.
During World War 11, Goodin was in the army and took part in the landing in France on D-Day - Plus 2. He remained in France and Germany until the end of the war.
Goodin is survived by two sons, Steve of San Francisco, Calif., and Scott of Reno. He is also survived by a brother, Jim Goodin, of Lovelock.
No services were scheduled. The funeral was under the direction of Ross, Burke and Knobel Mortuary, Reno.
Rodney Eugene Huson
Rodney Eugene Huson, 46, died Saturday, Feb. 17, at Colusa, Calif., after a lengthy illness.
He had resided in Arbuckle, Calif., for the past year.
Huson was born Sept. 26, 1054 in Colusa. He was a welder for many years for companies such as Heidricks, Hardy Harvester and Boeing.
When he was no longer able to work, he enjoyed many days and long hours of gold mining and spending time in the desert with friends and his dog, Rio.
Huson was preceded in death by his father Cletus Eugene Huson and nephew Rodney Wren. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no memorial services.
Arrangements were under the direction of McNary-Moore Funeral Services of Colusa.
Huson is survived by wife Brenda Huson of Lovelock; two step-daughters, Sissy and Charlie Duffy also of Lovelock; son Lucas Eugene Huson of Arbuckle; parents Virginia Bonnett and step-father Perry Bonnett of Arbuckle; step-mother Sandy Huson of Kingmam, Ariz.; Brothers Floyd and Wes Huson of Arbuckle; sisters Cyndee and Betty Huson of Arbuckle; step-brothers Shawn Bonnett of Evergreen, Colo., Charles Bonnett of Phoenix City, Ala., Kenny Bonnett of San Francisco, calif., dennis Kubas of Missoula, Mont., and Wayne Olsen of Phoenix, Ariz.; step-sisters Michelle Bates of Raeford, N.C., Mynda Frier of Kingman, and Suzanne Bonnett of Evergreen, Colo.; nieces Ashlee and Megan Huson and nephew Jeremias Huson.
Mary F. Minoletti Drake
Native Nevadan Mary F. Minoletti Drake, 90, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Regent Care Center, Reno.
Born March 26, 1910, in Eureka, Nev., she was the daughter of Charles A. and Julia R. Minoletti. She was a graduate of Eureka County High School and attended UNR and U.C. Berkley. Having earned a normal school certificate, Mrs. Drake taught in numerous rural communities. She completed her career in Washoe County, having taught most recently at Huffaker and Jesse Beck Elementary Schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Cameron Drake.
Survivors include son C.R. of Winnemucca, daughter Maryellen Petronzi of Reno, five grandsons, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Monday, Feb.26, 2001, at Our Lady Of The Snows Catholic Church, on Walker Ave., Reno. Entombment followed at Mountain View Cemetery's Garden of the Apostles.
Lyle "Bud" Trainer
Lyle "Bud" Trainer, 76, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, in Reno Nev., after a long illness.
Trainer was born Feb. 12, 1925.
A native of Chamberlin, S.D., he lived in Lovelock 23 years. He worked for the Pershing County Water Conservation District for 11 years until he retired as a water master.
Trainer refurbished International Harvester tractors and won first-place trophies for showing the tractors in parades. He was also an avid gardener who liked to grow tulips, gladiolas, peonies and he had a great strawberry patch.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Jean Elizabeth Trainer. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Eugene Provencher, Linda and Mike Hernandez, Marlys McMullin of Fairfield, Calif., and Melissa Hoefert of Lovelock; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Susan Trainer and Ronald Trainer of Rodeo, Calif., and Terry Trainer of Folsom, Calif.; sister, Myrtle Etbauer of Gann Valley, S.D.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral was held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery, Fairfield, Calif., with family members officiating.

James Levi Jones
James Levi Jones, 81, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Washoe Medical Center.
Born Sept. 5, 1919 in Hamilton, Ohio, he was the son of James L. and Florence May Jones. He was a life-long member of the Carpenters, Millwright and Machinery Erector's Local No. 1241. He was preceded in Death by his wife, Sharon Jean Jones, and two sons, James L. and Thomas E. Jones.
Survivors include daughters Betty Kennedy of Lovelock, Florence Rowland of Whitehall, Mont., and Suzie Spitzer of Eureka, Calif., six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
At the request of Mr. Jones there will be no service.
Destiney An Colegrove
Destiney An Colgrove was born at Washoe Medical Center in Reno Monday, March 6, 2000. She died following complications.
She was the daughter of James A. and Angela T. Colegrove of Lovelock. She is survived by a sister, Aubrey Michelle Colegrove and a brother James Nathan Colegrove, both of Lovelock, a sister Tanna Colegrove of Taylor, Utah, and a sister Chelsea Colgrove of Wash.
She is also survived by maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Collier of Denver, Colo., Mr. And Mrs. Pat Brown of Clearfield, Utah, and paternal grandparents Mr. And Mrs. Jack Willis of Fernley, Nev., and Mr. And Mrs. Amer Colegrove of Spokane, Wash., aunts and uncles Don and Amy Collier of Denver, Colo., Jason and Kim Collier of Layton, Utah, John Hoover of Layton, Utah, and Katie Reale of Clearfield, Utah, Tom and Deanna Bishop of Lovelock, Terry Colegrove and Mike Henderson of Reno, Cindi Armstrong of Reno, Robert and Sherry Colegrove of Elko, Charles and Patricia Winters of Fernley, Alan and Yvonne Haas of Weber, Utah, and Sandee Grant of Weber, Utah, Christy Colegrove of Spokane, Wash., and numerous cousins.
Graveside services will be at Big Meadow Cemetery, Saturday, March 11, at 11a.m.

Michael Glen Gilbert
Michael Glen Gilbert, 53, died Feb. 29, 2000 at his home in Lovelock.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Gilbert of Lovelock; step-mother, Josephine Gilbert of Pratt, Kansas; three stepdaughters, Barbara Strohl of Hamilton, N.J., Mandy Strohl of Kenai, Ala., and Adrianne Strohl of Lovelock; and a sister, Mary Veatch of Monument, Colo.
A memorial service was held Sunday, March 5 at Grace St. Francis Community Church. He was cremated.
Barbara Ann Story
Barbara Ann Story, 71, died Saturday at her home in Lovelock after a long illness with cancer.
Mrs. Story had lived in Lovelock for 58 years, coming from Utah where she was born, Sept. 23, 1929.
She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Story of 53 years, and sons Robert Story of Reno, Jim Story of Winnemucca, and Ken Story of Lovelock, daughter Peggy Holland of Lovelock, brothers Dean Black, Carl Black, Ben Black, all of the Blanding, Utah, sisters Leila Drown of Carson City, Nev., and Kay Tea of Ithaca, N.Y., and nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Story and her husband owned and operated Story Distributing Company for 25 years, and Story Hour Video store for seven years.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and taught primary and gospel doctrine in the church for many years. She played piano and the organ for the church for more than 40 years.
She loved quilting, sewing and knitting, and was an active member of the community. She served on several boards over the course of several years.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the LDS Church. A viewing was held at the church. Burial was at Lone Mountain Cemetery, following the church service.
Lovelock Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Jeanne Laurette Botts
Jeanne Laurette Botts, 52, of Sparks died March 9, at Tahoe Pacific Hospital in Sparks, following a battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's disease).
Botts was born in Reno, June 1, 1948 to Jerry and Laurette (Leoni) Maroon. She was preceded in death by both her parents.
She was a graduate of Pershing County High School in Lovelock. She received both bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Nevada Reno.
Ms. Botts was the recipient of an "Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters" by UNR in October of 2000. She graduated from UNR in 1970 and became a nutrition education specialist for the Nevada Cooperative Extension Service in Reno.
In the early 1980s, she relocated to Carson City and began her long career in service to the State of Nevada. She held the positions of education coordinator for the Nevada Department of Commerce, and was deputy commissioner of insurance, analyst for the Nevada Department of Administration and Budget Division, and was program analyst for the Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau.
In 1999, Ms. Botts relocated to Sparks and became the senior director of business and financial services for the Washoe County School District.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Ed Bartlett of Butte, Mont.; a sister and broth-in-law, Jerry Ann and Doug Jinnett of West New York, N.J.; two nieces, Suzanne Wong of Hercules, Calif., and Kim Jinnett of Hoboken, N.J.; one nephew, David Jinnett of Chicago, Ill.; three grand-nieces and one grand-nephew.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 19, 2001 at Ross, Burke and Knobel Mortuary, 2155 Kietzke Lane, Reno.
A private inurnment was held at Our Mother of Sorrows cemetery, Reno. Memorial contributions can be made to ALS Association, Nevada chapter, 2101 S. Jones, Ste. 120, Las Vegas, Nev. 89146 or to the Humane Society.
Mary W. Wicks Potter Sebbas
Shrewsbury, Mass. - Mary W. Wicks Potter Sebbas, 88, died April 22, 2000, at the Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Paris, New York, she was born March 2, 1912, to Harry S. and Emily E. (Arnold) Wicks and had lived in Shrewsbury for the past four years, coming from Lovelock and Sparks, where she had lived for more than 20 years. She also lived in East Greenbush, N.Y.
Mrs. Sebbas worked for Pershing County High School in Lovelock from 1963 until retirement in 1972. She had worked as a public librarian in Lovelock for two years, as a librarian and a Latin teacher in East Greenbush, N.Y. schools from 1956 to 1961 and taught Latin and history in Hobart and Richfield Spring, N.Y. schools for four years.
She was a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany with a master's degree in library science and was a member of the Nevada Library Association, where she was awarded a life membership in 1973 and was named Librarian of the Year in Nevada in 1968.
Her first husband, S. Gordon Potter died in 1959, second husband, Eric V. Sebbas died in 1987, and son, S. Gordon potter, Jr., died in 1981.
Surviving are daughter, Barbara S. McGan of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers make donations to "Friends of the Library" in Pershing County.
Robert Terrence "Terry" Woodger
Robert Terrence "Terry" Woodger, 54, died Tuesday afternoon at Churchill Community Hospital.
He was born Sept. 2, 1945 in Berkeley, Calif., to Glover Robert and Rosalie "Posie" Duncan Whitaker and had been a Fallon resident since 1984. He had lived in numerous northerb Nevada areas prior to moving to Fallon.
Woodger was a haul truck driver in the mining industry having worked for Coeur Rochester for 10 years. He was a Marine Corp. veteran of the Vietnam War member of the Marine Corp League, life member of the VFW Post 1002, and the American Legion, all in Fallon.
He is survived by his wife Bonny, daughter Misty Dawn Grenamyer, stepson James K. Stewart all of Fallon, daughter Pamela Kristy Woodger of Modesto, Calif., stepdaughter Theresa M. Stewart of Reno, brother Tim Whitaker of Unionville, sister Avis Moniz of Silver Springs, six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A committal service with military honors was held at the Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley. Cremation services were under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
Robert C. Sturges
Robert C. Sturges, 89, died June 9, 2000, at Pershing General Hospital.
A native of Fresno, Calif., he was born May 19, 1911, to Bert and Ette (Bonny) Sturges and had lived in Lovelock for the past 49 years, coming from Beowawe and Fresno.
Sturges worked on ranches and then was employed by the school system as a custodian. He also worked for the Pershing County Water District in 1956 as water master, retiring in 1977.
Son, Waylon, died in 1979.
Surviving are wife, Thelma and daughter, Bobbie Jeanne Aufdermaur, both of Lovelock, daughter, Dixie Westergard of Carson City, son, Charles of San Diego; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
A funeral was held Monday at Lovelock Funeral Home Chapel and burial was at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
A memorial fund is being established with the Pershing General Hospital Extended Care Center, 685 Sixth St, Lovelock 89419.
