Mary Patricio Mund
Mary Patricio Mund, 79, died May 4, 2000, at Washoe Medical Center. A Lovelock native, she was born May 22, 1920, to Manuel and Armenzinda (Souza) Patricio and had lived in Reno for several years, coming from Lovelock. Mrs. Mund was a mechanic for United Airlines. She was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, Lovelock. Surviving are son, Fred (location unknown) and sisters, Linda North of Canton, Mich., Vera Miller of McKinleyville, Calif., Alice Stewart of Isabella, Mo., and Orminda Harvey of Santa Ana, Calif. Cremation is under the direction of Walton's Sparks Funeral Home, with interment at Mountain View Cemetery.

La Vaune Harris
Judith Alice La Vaune Larsen Harris, 85, also know as La Vaune, died Tuesday, June 13, at La,Crosse Nursing Home in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, where she had been recovering from breaking a hip on May 1. Mrs. Harris was a resident of Lovelock, formerly from Hardin, Mont. She was born Thanksgiving Day, Nov.26, 1914, in Inwood,Iowa. The only child of Hattie E. Dyvig and Lauritz Larsen, the family moved to the Hardin area when La Vaune was a small child, and resided and farmed on the west bench. She graduated from Hardin High School, June3,1932, and had been looking forward to the All Class Reunion 2000, in Hardin, Mont. She and M. W. (Bud) Harris were married Nov.6, 1937, in Big Horn County Mont., and theirs was the first marriage license to be obtained in the new courthouse at that time. Mrs. Harris was active in her church, First American Lutheran in Hardin, and also attended Grace-St Francis Community Church in Lovelock since her move here three years ago to be with her daughter, Judy. She was skilled at making Kranza Kake, a Norwegian wedding cake for family and friends for special occasions, and Lefse, too. She did much hand work and it adorns the walls of her daughter's home. Mrs. Harris was also a member of Neighbors of Woodcraft Lodge, the Hardin Senior Citizen's, and until ill health took her away she was always visiting at the hospital and nursing home. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and her husband Bud Harris. She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Harry) Mosby of Lovelock and, her son, Robert (R.L.) (Mary Ann) Harris of Hayden Lake, Idaho; four grandchildren, Rita (Theodore) Gilsdorf-Arensmeyer, Wade (Julie) Gilsdorf, Carol (Robert) Haskins, and Michael Harris; six great-grandchildren, Christina, Daniel, Madison and Makenzy Gilsdorf, Hattie Arensmeyer, and Briana Haskins. A Celebration of Life, is planned for Thursday, June29, 10 a. m. at First American Lutheran Church, Hardin, Mont.

Russell Ryle
Russell Ryle, 74, died June 25, 2000, at Churchill Community Hospital. A native of Caldwell, Idaho, he was born Oct. 12, 1925, to Louis F. and Rhonda (Foot) Ryle and had lived in Fallon for several years, coming from Fernley. He had also lived in Lovelock for many years. Ryle was an auto mechanic, retiring in 1993 and was a former police officer with the Reno Police Department in the 1950s. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Son Richard died in 1985, daughter Leona died in 1999, a grandson died in 1999 and parents preceded him in death. Surviving are wife Juanita and son Russell, both of Fallon, sons Louis F. of Lovelock and Calvin of Empire, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral was held at Lovelock Funeral Home. Cremation was handled by Smith Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

William "Bill" Dale, Sr.
William Wesley "Bill" Dale, Sr., 80 died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at Humboldt General Hospital. A native of Eldorado, Kansas, he was born Jan. 9, 1920. He moved to Nevada in 1949. Dale is survived by his wife of 59 years; Toni; son and daughter-in-law, Bill, Jr. and Linda Dale; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Frank Weston; sons, Warren and Tim, 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 31, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Palisade Drive in Winnemucca.

Christenca Westergard Moore
Christenca Westergard Moore, 88, died Aug. 12 at the home of her daughter in Reno. She was born in Beowawe, Nev., on Jan. 7, 1912 to the late Hans and Maren Westergard. She moved to the Lovelock valley with her parents as a small child. On Jan. 2, she married Charles S. Moore. The couple lived for a time in Rochester Canyon and in Nevada City, Calif., where Mr. Moore worked in mining. They returned to Lovelock where Mrs. Moore worked at Pershing General Hospital. She and her husband also owned and operated an auto dealership and garage. She was a member of Mizpah Rebekah Lodge and was a past president of the Rebekah Assembly of Nevada. Mrs. Moore recently received the Meritorious Service Award from the Sovereign Grand Lodge of 100F. She graduated from Pershing County High School with the class of 1929 and had been awarded with the PCHS Association's Hall of Fame Award. She was a member of Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church of Reno. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, brothers George and Ralph Westergard and a sister, Lily Stone, as well as her parents. Survivors include a son, Duane Moore and a daughter, Dawna Johnson, both of Reno, a Brother, Roland Westergard and a sister, Muriel Gamble, both of Carson City and a sister, Audrey Munk of Lovelock. She is also survived by five grandsons, seven great-grandsons and seven great-granddaughters as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation was held Monday at Ross, Burke and Knobel Mortuary at 2155 Kietzke Lane, Reno. A celebration of life was held at 11a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Sparks. Burial followed at Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home. A memorial has been established with Truckee Meadows Boys and Girls Club, c/o Mike Cirac, 245 East Liberty St., Suite 200, Reno, Nevada 89501.

Alva May Wadsworth Lancour
Alva May Wadsworth Lancour, 61, died Aug. 18 at Washoe Medical Center, Reno. A native Nevadan, she was born in Nixon on May 29, 1939 to Ed and Mary (Lowery) Wadsworth. She lived in Wadsworth for the past six years, but spent most of her life in Lovelock. Mrs. Lancour was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe and St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Nixon. She attended schools in Sutcliffe, Nixon and Lovelock. Preceding her in death were her father in 1957, her mother in 1986, sister Delna Wadsworth in 1968, and grandson Terry Wadsworth in 1994. Surviving are husband Hank Lancour of Wadsworth, daughter Felicia Ann Wadsworth of Lovelock, sister Lolia Keats of Wadsworth, five grandchildren-Alicia Wadsworth 0f Wadsworth; Kara Wadsworth, Christina Carroll and Michael Carroll all of Lovelock, and Casey Samuels of Idaho. Also surviving are niece Bernadette Smith of Wadsworth, three great-nieces, three great-nephews, aunt and many cousins. Visitation is scheduled from 2p.m. to 8p.m. Wednesday at Ross, Burke and Knoble Mortuary, 2155 Kietzke Lane, Reno. A funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 24) at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Nixon, with burial at the Nixon Indian Cemetery.

Angelina Eliza Bini Patterson
Angelina Eliza Bini Patterson, 79, widow of Thomas B. Patterson and long-time resident of Daly City, Calif., died Aug. 13, 2000 in Norwalk, Calif., from complications due to diabetes and Alzheimer's disease. Mrs. Patterson was born Jan. 19, 1921 to Guilio and Marie Bini in Lovelock. She is survived by three sisters and three children: son Gene M. Patterson of Daly City, daughters Toby Ann Gerber of Stevens County, Wash., and Parry Patterson of Downey, Calif., seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Interment was held in San Bruno, Calif., at the Golden Gate Veteran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Raymond Rambur
Raymond Rambur, 49, died Aug. 30, 2000, in Lovelock. A native of Montana, he was born Oct. 10, 1950, to Raymond and Betty (Taylor) J. Rambur and had lived in Lovelock most of his life, coming from Montana. His parents preceded him in death. Surviving are his brother, Joe E. of Lovelock, and children Laura Ray, unknown residence, and Teresa Ann Timm and Raymond Wayne Rambur of Lebanon, Missouri. Cremation was at the Smith Family Funeral Home and Crematory, under the direction of Lovelock Funeral Home.

Sandra Lynn Osmun McCormick
Sandra Lynn Osmun McCormick, 55, died Aug. 28, at the Medical Center, Spokane, Wash. Mrs. McCormick was born in Reno on July 15, 1945. She was residing in St. Maries, Idaho for the last few years, but was raised and lived in Imlay and Lovelock most of her life. She worked as a bartender for Sturgeon's restaurant for many years. She was also a park ranger in Washoe County prior to this. For the last few years, Mrs. McCormick was a home health care person in St. Maries, Idaho. She is survived by husband John McCormick, stepchildren Becky and Jake McCormick, and mother and stepfather, Charlene and Norman Baldwin, all of St. Maries, Idaho. Also surviving are her sons Gary Milich and Ladd Caine, and brother Pete Osmun, all of Lovelock; stepbrother Gary Baldwin of Malad City, Idaho, and eight grandchildren of Lovelock and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church, Lovelock.

Ruth Quilici McKenzie
Ruth Quilici McKenzie died Aug. 20, 2000, in Middleton, Idaho after a fight with cancer. Ms. McKenzie is survived by Brenda Quilici Farr of Idaho. No other details were furnished.

Mildred Emilie Teglia
Mildred Emilie Teglia, 80, died September 13, 2000 at her residence in Fernley. She was born May 6,1920 in Lovelock to Joseph Abraham and Matilda Jungwirth Scilacci, and had lived in Fernley for two years, coming from Fallon where she had lived from 1941 until 1998.She was a retired casino cashier. Mrs. Teglia graduated from Pershing County High School in 1938. She was an avid gardener. She is survived by daughter Barbara Taylor of Fernley; son Robert Teglia of Overland Park, Kan.; sister Lena Bridges of Yerington; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Teglia was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Oliver Teglia, in 1997 and by four brothers and one sister. No funeral services will be held. Cremation is under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home and Crematory, Fallon, with inurnment at a later date. A memorial is established with the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1473, Fallon, Nev. 89407.

Frank Roy Mendenhall
Frank Roy Mendenhall, 90, died Sept. 7, 2000, at Fallon Convalescent Center. A native of Los Angeles, he was born Aug. 5,1910, to Jacob and Carrie (Lee) Frank and had lived in Lovelock since 1950, coming from Glendale, Calif. Mendenhall delivered Welshes Bread for 17 years. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Humboldt Lodge 27 and the Methodist Church and had serves on the Pershing General Hospital Board. Son Corky died in 1961. Surviving are wife Marion of Lovelock; daughter Suzie Battcher of Gardnerville; sisters Betty Stierhoff of Turlock, Calif., and Marie Bisher of Glendale; brother Ray of Chino Valley, Ariz., five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral was held Monday at Lone Mountain Cemetery, under the direction of the Lovelock Funeral Home.

John Edward Holmstrom
John Edward Holmstrom, Jr., 61, of John Day Ore., died at his residence on Sept. 25, 2000. Holmstrom was born in Lovelock on July 6, 1939 to John E. Holmstrom and Dona Grundy Holmstrom. He was preceded in death by his father, John Edward Holmstrom Sr. and brother Dee Holmstrom. Holmstrom Road in Upper Valley was named after the Holmstrom family. Holmstrom Jr. attended Fairview School in Lovelock and attended high school at Pershing County High School in Lovelock, graduating in 1957. Holmstrom Jr. grew up in Lovelock on a ranch, moved to John Day in 1976 where he began working for the United Parcel Service shortly after he married Colleen Baehmann on April 5, 1980 at Pendleton, Ore. He worked for the United Parcel Service for 23 years. Holmstrom Jr. is survived by his wife, Colleen Holmstrom of John Day, his sons, Hugh Charlebois of San Francisco, Calif., Dan Charlebois of Sacramento, Calif., and Marty Holmstrom of John Day, daughter Kirsten Zubieta of Reno, mother Dona Holmstrom of John Day, brother David Holmstrom of John Day, sisters Sonja hesterlee of Elko, Dona Jean Mathews of Nyssa, Ore., Elna Fitzsimonds of John Day and eight grandchildren. A celebration of life memorial will be held at the home of Maety Holmstrom on Friday, Sept. 29,located on Charolais Heights in John Day at 4 p.m. The place of cremation is Eastern Oregon Pioneer Crematory in Baker Coty, Ore. The funeral director will be Deborah Wolf. There is a memorial being established with the charity of one's choice through Driskill Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day, Ore. 97845.

Elda M. Smith Gracey
Elda M. Smith Gracey, 85, died Sept. 6, 2000, at Washoe Medical Center in Reno. A Lovelock native, she was born Jan. 4, 1915 to John C. and Anne Marie (Saridi) Smith and had lived in Reno since 1984, coming from Hawthorne. Mrs. Gracey worked at the Hawthorne Credit Union from 1956 to 1980. A Pershing County High School graduate, she was a member of the Eagles Lodge and Waves in Motion Swim Club. Mrs. Gracey was preceded in death by brothers Virgil and Albert Smith, and sisters Annie Smith and Velma Brown. Surviving are daughter Leslie Ann Peca of Huntington Beach, Calif., and two grandsons. A celebration of life was held at Mrs. Gracey's home in Reno. Cremation was at Sierra Crematory, under the direction of Walton Funeral Home, Reno.

May Birdeen Cochran
May Birdeen Cochran, 89, died Oct. 5, 2000 in Reno at the Life Care Center. She was born Jan. 17, 1911 to Ormond Russell and Hazel (Snodgrass) McComas. Mrs. Cochran came to Lovelock in 1948. She worked for the Pershing County School District in the kitchen. She retired after 27 years. Survivors are two sons, Edwin Cochran of Dairy, Ore., and Marvin Cochran of Sparks, two daughters, Sandra Frazier of Roseville, Calif., and Carman Laws of Reno. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her husband, Winfred Cochran, died April of 1986. Services were held at the Grace-St. Francis Church Monday. Dr. Philip C. Greer officiated. Burial was at Big Meadow Cemetery.

Allene "Mary Lou" Rooke
Allene "Mary Lou" Rooke, 69, died Oct. 7 in her home in Carson City. A Lovelock native and a member of the Lovelock native and a member of the Lovelock Paiute Tribe, she was born April 25, 1931, to Lena (Snodgrass) and the late Bill Rooke. After graduating from Pershing County High School in 1949, she went on to Sage Memorial Hospital in Grando, Ariz., for two years and received her nursing degree from St. Marks Hospital at Westminister College in Salt Lake City, Utah. After working for five years at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Bonair, Los Angeles, she moved to Carson City, Nev. With 23 years of Service she retired from Carson Tahoe Hospital where she was the operating room manager and the central service manager. She resided in Carson City since her retirement and until her death. She was of Christian faith. Among her survivors are her mother Lena Rooke of Lovelock; two sons, Jeff and Greg Thurman; granddaughters, Crystal and Kendra, all of Carson City, and numerous relatives. Services will be held at Graces-St. Francis Community Church in Lovelock today (Thursday), Oct. 12, at 2 p.m. Father Crites will be officiating. Visitation was held Wednesday at Lovelock Funeral Home. Mrs. Rooke will be buried at the Lovelock Indian Cemetery.

Doreen Gladys Shontz
Doreen Gladys Shontz, 75, died Oct. 19, 2000, in Mill Bay Vancouver, B.C. A native of Edmonton, Alberta, she was born Nov. 25, 1924, and had lived in Carson City since 1978, coming from Reno, where she had lived since 1950, and from Winnemucca, where she had lived since 1946. Husband, George, died in 1996. Mrs. Shontz was a homemaker. Surviving are sons, Bob of Lovelock and James of Winnemucca; sister, Valerie Coates of Mill Bay and several grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Grace St. Francis Community Church in Lovelock, with burial at :one Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Lovelock Funeral Home.

Earnest Orrin Clinger
Earnest Orrin Clinger, 83, died Oct. 17, 2000, at the Fallon Convalescent Center. A native of Carpenter Creek, Mont., he was born Oct. 20, 1916 to Cecil Calvin and Jennie May (Good) Clinger and had lived in Lovelock since 1937. Clinger became a self-employed farmer in 1940. Surviving are sons, Cecil and Carl, both of Lovelock; brothers, Charles A. of Loveland, Colo., Harold C. of Hemet, Calif., Donald of Stagecoach, Nev., Allen of Mexico and Robert (location unknown); sisters, Laura Bending of North Platte, Neb., and Donna Sambrano of Reno; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of the Lovelock Funeral Home.

Bernadine Ellen Coyle Hunter
Bernadine Ellen Coyle Hunter, 86, died Oct. 31, 2000, at Oregon Health Science University Hospital, Portland. A native of Goshen, Calif., she was born Sept. 12, 1914, to Thomas J. and Mary Ellen Coyle and had lived in Lovelock for the past 10 years, coming from Reno. Mrs. Hunter worked for the De Soto-Plymouth Agency as a bookkeeper in the 1940s and 1950s in Modesto, Calif. She was a graduate of Patterson, Calif., high school. Surviving are husband, James "Bill" Wilbur of Lovelock; stepson, James Hunter of Santa Rosa, Calif., and sisters, Bernice Riser and Betty Burden and brother, John "Jack" Coyle, all of Modesto. A private funeral was scheduled at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery with a memorial service at a later date, under the direction of Lakewood Funeral Home, both of Modesto. Memorials preferred to your favorite charity.

John Davis
John Davis, 66, died Nov. 26, 2000, at a friend's residence. Davis was born in Whitesboro, Texas, June 2, 1934, to Frank and Gladys (Kearney) Davis and lived most of his life in Nevada, the last 24 years in Lovelock. He was retired from being a repairman and small business owner, and had served in the U.S. Navy. He also was a square and round dance caller. Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Jacqueline; four children, Kalynn Blalock, Kearney Davis, Susan Tufford and Nancy Talcott and seven grandchildren. No services are scheduled. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to Lovelock VFW.

John and Judith M. Hanson Fincke
A memorial service for John Fincke and Judith M. Hanson Goldsworthy Fincke, who were killed in an automobile accident Nov. 29, 2000, east of Fernley, was held Wednesday at Walton Funeral Home in Reno. Mre. Fincke, 65, was born Feb. 1, 1935, to Herman H. and Ida A. (Quilici) Hanson and had lived in Reno a period of time, coming from Lovelock. She was a graduate of Pershing County High School. Mre. Fincke worked for Sims Auto Sales. She attended the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of California, Los Angeles, majoring in physical education. A native of Albany, N.Y., John Fincke, 66, was born Sept. 25,1934, to John and Lillian (Sourborn) Fincke and had lived in Reno for the past 16 years, coming from Los Angeles and New York. He worked for Sims Auto Sales. He was an Army veteran and attended Cairo High School, Cairo, N.Y. Surviving the couple are daughters, Ivrie Goldsworthy of Washoe Valley, Crystal Marler of Carson City and Julie Goldsworthy of Lovelock; son, Robert Goldsworthy of Reno and three grandchildren. Mre. Fincke is also survived by a sister, Rita Guisti of Reno, and Mr. Fincke is survived by a sister, Mildred Lucente of Florida. Cremation was under the direction of Walton Funeral Home. Evelyn Stoker Weber
Evelyn Stoker Weber, 96, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Pershing General Nursing Home in Lovelock. A native of Lovelock, she was born Aug. 3, 1904, to George and Anne Stoker and was raised on the Stoker Ranch. She married Bryson Weber and the couple moved to Klamath Falls, Ore. They later moved to Oakridge, Ore., and purchased a general hardware store. They lived there until her husband's death in 1970. They had one son, Kenny, who was killed in 1949 in a motorcycle accident. In 1972, Mrs. Weber moved back to Winnemucca and was a homemaker and artist until she suffered a stroke in 1992. She then had to live in the nursing home in Lovelock. She had two brothers, Clarence and Vernon Stoker, and one sister, Pearl Stoker Martel, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Weber is survived by two sisters-in-law, Clara Stoker of Winnemucca and Lois Stoker of Lovelock; nieces Joyce Legarza of Orovada, Dee Frensdorff of San Diego, Calif., Janice Paige of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Linda V. Walker of Durango, Colo. Nephews are Don Stoker of Winnemucca, Tom Stoker of Lovelock, and Eldon Stoker of Beaver, Utah (currently an LDS missionary to Ecuador). Following her wishes, she will be cremated with no funeral services held. She will be interred in the Winnemucca Cemetery by her husband and son.

Erma Elizabeth McDougal
Erma Elizabeth McDougal, 95, died Dec. 24, 1999 in Englewood, Colo. She was born June 5, 1904 to L.M. and Lena Summerville in Kenmar, North Dakota. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1925 and taught home economics for two years before marrying Harvey McDougal. Mrs. McDougal resided in Rio Vista, Calif., from 1942 to 1969 and from 1971 to 1988. During 1970 and 1971 she lived in Lovelock. Since 1988 she had resided to Englewood. She was predeceased by Husband Harvey McDougal in 1969 and grandson David McDougal in 1982. She is survived by daughter Mary Stewart of Highlamps Ranch, Colo; son Richard McDougal of Lovelock; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Memorial service was held in Englewood on Dec. 29 1999 and an inurnment will be held in Rio Vista, Calif., at a later date. Remembrances may be made to an institution of the donor's choice.

Susan M. Quin-DeBlock
Susan M. Quin-DeBlock, 47, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999 at her home Portland, Ore. A native of Portland, she was born June 24, 1952 to Harry and Genevieve Quin. She graduated from David Douglas High School and earned an associate's degree in art and library sciences from Mt. Hood Community College. Mrs. Quin-DeBlock was employed at the Multnomah County Library as a clerk, specializing in book repair. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, fabric collecting and surface design. She is survived by her husband Paul DeBlock of Portland, Sister Terri Quin of Lovelock, stepmother Margaret Quin of Portland, stepsister Gudran Crossgove of Portland, stepson Paul Jeremy DeBlock of Portland and other aunts and cousins. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Jan 8 at 1 p.m. at Wilhelm's Funeral Chapel, 6637 S.E. Milwaukee Ave. Portland Ore. Memorial contributions are to directed to the Oregon Humane Society, 1067 N.E. Columbia Blvd., Portland, Ore. 97211. Cremation was under the direction of the Wilhelm Funeral Home.

Jasper M. Sloat
Jasper M. Sloat, 87, died Dec. 21, 1999 at Churchill Community Hospital in Fallon. He was born Oct. 8, 1912 in Valentine, Ariz. Sloat served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a resident of Lovelock for the past 20 years. Sloat is survived by his wife, Patricia Sloat. A memorial will be held Tuesday, Jan. 4 2000 at 11 a.m. at Lovelock Funeral Home.
