Joseph C. Pisani
ALBANY - Joseph C. Pisani, 75, of Bleecker Terrace Apartments, died Wednesday at Albany Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Albany, Mr. Pisani was a lifelong city resident.
He was a meat cutter for Levonian Meat Packing in Albany for 40 years.
Mr. Pisani was a communicant of St. James Church.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
There are no calling hours.

Fredericka Forst
SCHENECTADY - Mrs. Fredericka Boppert Forst, 79, of Hetcheltown Road, formerly of Front Street, died Wednesday at Ellis Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Hamburg, Germany, Mrs. Forst came to this country as a child. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and attended Union College.
She was a fashion and print model in New York City during World War II. For more than 19 years, Mrs. Forst worked for the Capital District Library Council, retiring as an administrative assistant in 1986.
Mrs. Forst was a member of the Society of Bibliophiles.
She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Forst Feldman of Easthampton, Mass.; two sons, William P. Forst of Scotia and Dean C. Forst of Stratford, Conn.; a sister, Christel Jones of Schenectady; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The services will be held at St. George's Episcopal Church at a time to be announced.
There are no calling hours.
Burial will be in Park View Cemetery.

Angela Garilli
SCHENECTADY - Miss Angela Garilli, 91, of Kings Road, died Monday at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Home after a short illness.
Born in Piacenza, Italy, Miss Garilli came to this country in 1912 and had resided in various areas of New York.
She was an assistant to local families for 60 years before retiring at age 76.
Miss Garilli was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Survivors include two nephews, Robert Garilli of Albuquerque, N.M., and Cavann Garill of Safety Harbor, Fla.; and three nieces, Dawn Wicks of Schenectady, Desiree Marciani of Bolingbrook, Ill., and Christine Garilli.
The service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St. A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.

May Krywy, 87, longtime school teacher in Saratoga
MIDDLE GROVE - Mrs. May Krywy, 87, of Route 29, died Friday at Saratoga Springs Hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Krywy was born in Kaylor, Pa. She had lived in the Galway area since marrying.
She was a teacher for 20 years at the Greenfield School and the Caroline Street School in Saratoga Springs until retirement.
Mrs. Krywy was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church.
She was married to the late Charles Krywy.
Survivors include a son, Robert Krywy of Pawtucket, R.I.; a daughter, Marilyn Scott of San Jose, Calif.; and a brother, Andy Vengloski of Alexandria, Va.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Church, Route 29, Rock City Falls.
Burial will be in East Galway Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Richard J. Ryan Funeral Home, Galway Village, Sacandaga Road, Galway.

Louis Alonzo, his fireworks firm had Olympics display
MECHANICVILLE - Louis J. Alonzo, 51, of County Route 75, died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy after a short illness.
Mr. Alonzo was born in Troy.
He was a graduate of Mechanicville High School and the Julliard School of Music in New York City.
He was the longtime owner of Alonzo's Fireworks, which provided the display at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
A professional bowler, Mr. Alonzo was vice president of Bowlero Lanes for more than 20 years and was named to the Bowlers Hall of Fame.
He was a member of the Mechanicville Fire Department for more than 32 years and a former chief.
Mr. Alonzo also was a former captain of the WL Howland Fire Co. 5 and served with the Saratoga County Fire Advisory Board.
The former owner of Alonzo's Music City, he played with the band Emergency and won a state championship for accordion playing at the New York State Fair.
Mr. Alonzo was a founder of Mechanicville Family Day and was named "Mechanicville Citizen of the Year" in 1997.
He was a former director of urban renewal for the city; president of the Italian Fraternal Society; a former member of the John Ahearn Rescue Squad; a board member of the American Pyrotechnics Association; and a member of the Plumbrook Fish and Game Club and the Professional Bowlers Association.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Piroli Alonzo; a son, Jeff Alonzo of Saratoga Springs; a daughter, Mandi Alonzo of Mechanicville; his parents, Julius and Rita Alonzo of Mechanicville; and two grandsons.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Assumption-St. Paul Church, North Main Street.
Calling hours are from 4 this afternoon to 8 tonight at the church.

Myrtle Horan, 84, former Draper School Board member
ROTTERDAM - Mrs. Myrtle LeDuc Horan, 84, of Vinewood Avenue, died Saturday at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady.
Born in Troy, Mrs. Horan was a 1935 graduate of the former Mont Pleasant High School.
She was employed as a paralegal for 20 years by the former Maynard, O'Connor and Smith law firm, retiring in 1980.
Mrs. Horan was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and a former deacon and member of the church council.
She was a former president, secretary, treasurer and travel chairman of the Woestina Young at Heart Seniors.
Mrs. Horan was a member of RISE, a former president of the Legal Secretaries Association and the Draper PTA, and a former school district clerk and member of the Draper School Board. For 10 years, she was a Brownie leader in Rotterdam.
Her husband, Jack F. Horan, whom she married Oct. 9, 1949, died March 14, 1992.
Survivors include a son, Paul Karl Horan of Downington, Pa.; three daughters, Deirdre Lynn Lehr of Bluffton, S.C., Kathleen Elizabeth Sukala of Rotterdam and Nancy Ellen Gauthier of Parkesburg, Pa.; a brother, Charles W. Claydon of Niskayuna; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bond Funeral Home, at Broadway and Guilderland Avenue, and at 11 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2850 Guilderland Ave.
Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Schenectady Memorial Park.

Paula Selkis, taught math for more than 28 years
ALBANY - Mrs. Paula Lembo Selkis, 51, of McKown Road, died Friday at her sister's home in Clifton Park.
Mrs. Selkis was born in Mechanicville. She graduated from Mechanicville High School and the University at Albany.
She was a mathematics teacher in the Schalmont Central School District for more than 28 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Erinn Selkis of Albany; her father, Armand Lembo of Mechanicville; a brother, Ralph Lembo of Rotterdam; and a sister, Carol Lyte of Clifton Park.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Assumption-St. Paul Church, William Street, Mechanicville.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.

Andrew McNally, III, 92, led mapmaker's expansion
CHICAGO - Andrew McNally, III, who led Rand McNally & Co., one of the world's best-known mapmakers, through its largest period of 20th century growth, died Thursday in Chicago. He was 92 and the family attributed his death to natural causes.
McNally, the great-grandson of the company's co-founder, succeeded his father, Andrew McNally II, as president of the company in 1948.
The company was looking for ways to diversify and one of McNally's first moves was to buy the W.B. Conkey Company, one of the nation's largest book manufacturing plants.
Rand McNally had published children's books during the war, including titles by the well-known author Marguerite Henry, and expanded into the adult market in 1947 with the publication of "Kon Tiki," written by the then relatively unknown Norwegian scientist Thor Heyerdahl. But the purchase of Conkey allowed the company greater access to the book market. Over the years it made a substantial income in reference and general interest books.
Sales volume more than doubled, from $8.3 million to more than $18.5 million in just six years under McNally's leadership. He also oversaw the company's relocation in 1952 from downtown Chicago to its current facility in suburban Skokie, Ill.
The son of Andrew and Eleanor McNally was born in Chicago on Aug. 17, 1909. He attended the Hill School in Pottstown, Pa., and later Yale University.
Of his education, he once told a reporter that while he enjoyed studying music in school, he felt a career in the family firm was "practically preordained."
So after graduating from Yale in 1931, McNally began working in the family business in various jobs, including production clerk in the Chicago plant.
In 1933 he was made a vice president and director of the sales office in New York City.
McNally joined the Army Corp of Engineers soon after the start of World War II, supervising the production of battlefield maps.
Discharged with the rank of captain, McNally returned to the family business after the war and began producing maps reflecting the great changes that had taken place in the world since the defeat of the Axis powers.
After succeeding his father, McNally ran the company as president until 1974, when he was named chairman of the board, a post he held until 1993.
His eldest son, Andrew McNally IV, succeeded him as president and, later, as chairman. The company was purchased by AEA, a New York-based investment group, in the late 1990s.

Alice M. Carl
HOWES CAVE - Mrs. Alice M. Carl, 83, of Howes Cave, died Saturday at Robinson Terrace in Stamford after a long illness.
Born and educated in Oswego, Mrs. Carl lived in Schenectady for more than 60 years before moving to Howes Cave.
She was a sales clerk for 15 years for the former Wallace Co. in Schenectady, retiring in 1969.
Mrs. Carl was a member of the Grout Park School PTA for many years.
Her husband, Edward Carl, died in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Ralph Fazio of Glenville; a daughter, Cheryl Ann Dahlin of Howes Cave; two sisters, Anne Wheeler and Mildred Boardman, both of Oswego; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A service is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

C. Duane McChesney
GALWAY - C. Duane McChesney of Sacandaga Road, died Friday at Saratoga Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. McChesney was a graduate of the Galway Schools and Spencer Business Institute.
He retired from CC McChesney and Sons Agway in 1986.
Mr. McChesney was a member of the Galway Volunteer Fire Department for more than 50 years and a former chief.
He also was a fire warden with the DEC, a founding member of the Galway Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and a town constable.
Mr. McChesney was a member of the Benson United Rod and Gun Club, the Bleeker and Raquette Lake fish and game clubs, and the Galway Fish and Game Club.
He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, a charter member of the Harley Rendezvous and a member of the Hudson Mohawk Chapter Pioneer Gas Engines and the Tri-County Old Time Power Association.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Jane Miles McChesney; three daughters, Lynda Bintz and Sandra McChesney, both of Galway, and Kathy McChesney of Hagaman; three sons, Gary McChesney and Peter McChesney, both of Galway, and Stephen McChesney of Broadalbin; his stepmother, Shirley McChesney of Galway; a sister, Shirley Agnello of Elmira; a brother, Richard McChesney of Galway; a stepsister, Jackie Bombard of Broadalbin; two half-brothers, David McChesney of Wells, Maine, and Robert McChesney of Farmington, Utah; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Route 147, where a calling period will begin at 6:30.
