Donald P. Traynor
ALBANY - Donald P. Traynor, who was employed at the Watervliet Arsenal before retiring in 1984, died Thursday after being stricken. Mr. Traynor, of Guilderland, was 77.
Born in New York City, Mr. Traynor lived most of his life in the Capital Region and was a graduate of Cathedral Academy in Albany. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary DeGonzague Traynor; two daughters, Patricia A. Nealon of Clifton Park and Tina M. Bacon of Mariaville; a brother, Warren C. Traynor; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Ave., Westmere.
Mr. Traynor has made an anatomical gift to Albany Medical College. Arrangement are by the Hans Funeral Home.

Dorothy Fitzsimmons
WESTFIELD, N.J. - Mrs. Dorothy McCaron Fitzsimmons, 94, of Westfield, died on Saturday.
Born in the Bronx, Mrs. Fitzsimmons was raised in Brooklyn and lived in Schenectady and in Tequesta, Fla., before moving to Westfield eight years ago.
She was a homemaker.
Her first husband, James McCaron, died in 1969. She later married Charles Fitzsimmons. He died in 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynne Hartzell;two grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Church, Schenectady.
Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
Arrangements are by the Dooley Colonial Home.

George E. Wolfe
SARATOGA SPRINGS - George E. Wolfe, who was a baker at Tuttle's Bakery and a cook at Lou's Luncheonette, died Sunday at Saratoga Hospital. Mr. Wolfe, of Allen Drive, was 85.
Mr. Wolfe was born in Saratoga Springs. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Salvation Army and the Saratoga Eagles Aerie.
Survivors include his companion, Beatrice Ramsey; two sons, Edward Wolfe of Saratoga Springs and Harry Wolfe of Queensbury; a daughter, Georgianna Bell of Saratoga Springs; a sister, Anna Brady of Albany; three stepsons, Victor and Johnny Wine, and George Crandall, all of Saratoga Springs; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Tunison Funeral Home, 105 Lake Ave. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Greenridge Cemetery.

Margaret B. Couball
ROTTERDAM - Mrs. Margaret B. Couball, 85, of Greenpoint Avenue, died Saturday at St. Clare's Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Couball lived most of her life there.
She was a homemaker and a registered nurse in Schenectady.
Mrs. Couball was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a member of its Rosary Society.
She was a member of St. Clare's Hospital Auxiliary and was a volunteer with Patient Services at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Home.
Mrs. Couball was the widow of August P. Couball.
Survivors include eight daughters, Marilyn Guidarelli and Anne Couball, both of Schenectady, Joyce Grossi of Barrington, N.H., Margaret Mary Ross of Rotterdam, Rosemary Egan of Clifton Park, Mary Bell of Carmel, Theresa Foley of Colonie and Christine Jordan of Watertown; two sons, John Couball of Schenectady and Joseph Couball of Yuma, Ariz.; 36 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
The services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, and at 11 a.m. a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Marguerite E. DeVoe
ROTTERDAM - Mrs. Marguerite E. DeVoe, who was an executive housekeeper at the Holiday Inn on Nott Terrace for 11 years, died Sunday at the home after a long illness. Mrs. DeVoe, of Hallmark Nursing Center, formerly of Palmer Street, was 93.
Born in Rutland, Vt., Mrs. DeVoe moved to the local area as a child.
She retired from the Holiday Inn in 1977.
Mrs. DeVoe was a member of the Woodlawn Reformed Church.
Her husband, Henry DeVoe Sr., whom she married in 1924, died in 1966.
Survivors include three daughters, Frances Payette of Clifton Park, Loretta Nayman of Schenectady and Dawn Lockhurst of Scotia; three sons, Henry D. DeVoe Jr. of Schenectady, Robert A. and Donald F. DeVoe, both of Clifton Park; 21 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
The service will be held at noon on Monday at Memory's Garden Chapel, Colonie.
Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady.

Ernest W. Herb, had owned camera shop and studio
FORT PLAIN - Private services will be held for Ernest W. Herb, 83, of Center Street, who died Thursday at home after a long illness.
Born in Fort Plain, Mr. Herb was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Fort Plain High School in 1937 and the New York Institute School of Photography.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3275.
Mr. Herb was the owner and operator of Herb's Camera Shop & Studio for more than 40 years. He subsequently worked as a self-employed salesman from 1977 to 1994, selling photographic supplies.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Edwards Herb, whom he married Aug. 30, 1940; two sons, Edward A. Herb of Schenectady and Gary E. Herb of Fort Plain; and three grandsons.
There are no calling hours.
Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.

Jamie Shannon, noted chef
NEW ORLEANS - Jamie Shannon, who succeeded Emeril Lagasse as executive chef at the famed Commander's Palace restaurant and championed the use of regional ingredients, died Friday. He was 40.
Shannon died at the M.D. Anderson Center in Houston, where he had been undergoing treatment for cancer.
Shannon was the co-author of "Commander's Kitchen," a cookbook that reflected his preference for American cooking with recipes like tasso shrimp and Creole Bouillabaisse. At Commander's, he was able to draw on both the rich culinary culture of south Louisiana and the culinary tradition that began when he was growing up on a New Jersey farm.
Shannon was a protege of Lagasse, star of the NBC comedy "Emeril." Shannon took the prestigious James Beard Award as best chef in the Southeast in 1999. Three years before, with Shannon as executive chef, Commander's was named the best restaurant in the entire country by the Beard Foundation.

Lewis Riccitello, 87, ran Riccitello's Restaurant
GLENVILLE - Lewis Riccitello, 87, of Saratoga Road, died at home Thursday after being stricken.
Born in Schenectady, Mr. Riccitello was a lifelong area resident.
He was involved with his family's restaurant, Riccitello's, for more than 50 years and was its owner when it was sold in 1972.
Mr. Riccitello served with the Merchant Marines during World War II.
He was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church of Schenectady.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marge Gabriele Riccitello; two sons, Charles Lewis Riccitello of Pontevedra Beach, Fla., and Michael Riccitello of Lake Worth, Fla.; and a grandchild.
Services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union St., Schenectady, followed at 10 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.

George Remillard, earned four bronze stars in WWII
HALFMOON - George R. Remillard, 79, of Dunsbach Road, formerly of Cohoes, died Friday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Born in Waterford, Mr. Remillard attended Waterford High School.
He had been a logger before working for Cohoes Mills Peerless Fibre.
Mr. Remillard was an Army veteran of World War II and received four Bronze Stars.
He was a foreman for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady for more than 35 years, retiring in 1982. He later transported horses for thoroughbred breeders for 10 years.
Mr. Remillard was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. He was a former member of the Pleasantdale Rod & Gun Club, the American Legion Mohawk Post 1450 in Halfmoon and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include Edna Devoe Remillard, his wife of 59 years; three sons, Lawrence Remillard of Clifton Park, Ernest J. Remillard Sr. of New Lisbon and Robert R. Remillard of Watervliet; a daughter, Connie Tostevin of Middletown, Ohio; a brother, Clarence Remillard of Rotterdam; a sister, Eva Heroux of Lake George; 27 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park, followed at 10 at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Latham, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.

`Red' Strevel
GUILDERLAND - Mrs. Bertha "Red" M. Strevel, 78, of Douglas Court, died Wednesday at home after a long illness.
Mrs. Strevel was born in Albany. She had been a Guilderland resident for more than 40 years.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Lloyd "Rusty" Strevel; three daughters, Karen Parker of Clifton Park, Cynthia Malone of Berne and Bonnie Falso of Scotia; two sons, Wesley R. Strevel of Vernon, Conn., and Lloyd R. Strevel II of Trenton, Mich.; a sister, Hazel Salladin of Worthington, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
