Mary Leach
ALBANY - Mrs. Mary Curran Leach, who worked as a switchboard operator and supervisor at the state Senate for 20 years, retiring in 1995, died Monday after a short illness. Mrs. Leach, of North Allen Street, was 71.
Mrs. Leach was born in Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland, and came to this country in 1958.
She had worked part-time at the University Club in Albany since 1959.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Thomas J. Leach; three sons, Edward J. Leach of Albany, Thomas J. Leach, Jr. of Latham and Sean P. Leach of Clifton Park; four brothers, Timmy Curran of Ireland, Sean Curran of Greenville, Davey Curran of Averill Park and the Rev. Anthony Curran of Schenectady; a sister, Eileen Hanafin of Castleton; and six grandchildren.
A service will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the historic Church of St. Mary on Capitol Hill.
Calling hours are from 4 this afternoon until 8 tonight at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St., Albany.
Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, 10 Lodge St., Albany, NY 12207.

Rita MacIntyre
SCHENECTADY - Mrs. Rita Coons MacIntyre, 79, of Bradford Road, died Monday at the Glendale Nursing Home in Glenville after a long illness.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. MacIntyre was a lifelong Schenectady area resident.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. MacIntyre was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her husband, John C. MacIntyre, whom she married in 1942; and a son, Donald MacIntyre of Schenectady.
There are no services or calling hours.
Burial will be in Park View Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 85 Watervliet Ave., Albany, NY 12206.
Arrangements are by the Griswold Funeral Home.

Mary DiDonna
MURRELLS INLET, S.C. - Mrs. Mary Goodwin DiDonna, 77, of Cypress Keys, died Monday at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cayce, S.C., Mrs. DiDonna was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Mrs. DiDonna was a member of the Litchfield Country Club.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas A. DiDonna Sr.; two sons, Thomas A. DiDonna, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Ronald J. DiDonna of Glenville; a brother, Stanley Goodwin of Cayce; three sisters, Kathryn Strong of Hamlet, N.C., Betty Reese of Cayce and Bennie Joyce Senese of Surfside Beach; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.

Henry R. Cox
BALLSTON SPA - Henry R. Cox, who worked for the state Office of General Services in Albany for many years, retiring as a senior stationary engineer, died Tuesday at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs. Mr. Cox, of Garrett Road, was 83.
Mr. Cox was born in Bethlehem, Pa., and moved to Ballston Spa in 1930.
Mr. Cox was a member and trustee of First Baptist Church.
He was a founding member of the Buckskin Hunting Club and was active in the Cub Scouts for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Elvira Lowell Cox; a son, David Cox of Corinth; two daughters, Marylou Latrimone of Floresville, Texas, and Nancy Harrison of Greenfield Center; two brothers, Bill Cox of Winter Haven, Fla., and James Cox of Bellevue, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church on Milton Avenue. A calling hour will precede the service Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in Batchellerville Cemetery in Edinburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 202 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
Arrangements are by the Armer Funeral Home.

Jean Benjamin
AMSTERDAM - Mrs. Jean A. Benjamin, 75, of the Stratton Apartments, formerly of Northway Mobile Home Park in Perth and Tribes Hill, died Tuesday at home after a long illness.
Born in Amsterdam, Mrs. Benjamin was a 1943 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and a 1944 graduate of the Amsterdam School of Commerce.
Mrs. Benjamin was an office clerk for the George H. Maus Importer and the Frick Co., both in Amsterdam. She was later employed at Brown's Ford in Johnstown for 20 years, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church and the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Her husband, Leland Benjamin, whom she married July 11, 1953, died in 1982. Her brother, Ronald C. Hirschfeld, died in March.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Copeland of Richmond, Va.; a stepson, Frank L. Benjamin of Saratoga Springs; and a stepdaughter, Barbara Davis of Lincoln, Calif.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church, Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave.
Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 40 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, or the Zonta Mammography Fund, in care of the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Foundation, 4988 Route 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Saul Kaplan
ROTTERDAM - Saul M. Kaplan, who was a mechanical engineer for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady for more than 35 years, died Monday at home. Mr. Kaplan, of Dahlia Street, was 67.
Born in Chelsea, Mass., Mr. Kaplan earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Tufts University and later earned a master's degree from New York University. Mr. Kaplan earned his second master's degree in history from the University at Albany this month.
Mr. Kaplan retired in 1999. He remained with GE as a part-time engineering consultant. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and the GE Elfun Society.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Collis Kaplan; two sons, Guy Scott of Apex, N.C., and Gustav Kaplan of Rotterdam; a daughter, Gay Kendall of Troy; a brother, Allen Kaplan of Wayland, Mass.; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Unitarian Society, 1221 Wendell Ave., Schenectady.
There are no calling hours.
Burial will be private.

Gertrude E. Kruger
TOWN OF FLORIDA - Private services will be held for Mrs. Gertrude E. Kruger, 87, of State Route 30, who died Monday at Montgomery Meadows Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam after a short illness.
Born and educated in Stone Arabia, Mrs. Kruger moved to the Amsterdam area in 1932.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Kruger attended Florida Reformed Church in Minaville.
She was a member of the Beldons Corners Community Club and the Mariaville Rod & Gun Club.
Her husband, Walter K. Kruger, whom she married Aug. 18, 1933, died in 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice E. Gaugler and Gladys M. Krohn, both of the town of Florida; a brother, Arnold Francisco of the state of Florida; a sister, Marjorie Ortell of Johnstown; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandson.
Spring burial will be in Chuctanunda Cemetery, Minaville.
Contributions may be made to the Town of Florida Volunteer Fire Department or the Florida Reformed Church in care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Mary Georgetti
BALLSTON SPA - Mrs. Mary Costa Georgetti, 80, of Rowland Street, died Sunday at home.
Born in Brooklyn, Mrs. Georgetti lived in Lynbrook, N.Y. for 30 years before moving to the Ballston Spa area four years ago.
Her husband, Thomas L. Georgetti, died in 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Beller of Ballston Spa; a son, Thomas Georgetti of Brooklyn; four grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, 231 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 this afternoon and 7 to 9 tonight at the William J. Burke & Sons-Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs.
Burial will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity.

Florence E. Fleming
RENSSELAER - Services were held for Mrs. Florence E. Fleming, 77, of Rensselaer, who died Saturday at Albany Memorial Hospital.
Born in Mechanicville, Mrs. Fleming lived in Rensselaer for many years.
She was a senior account clerk for the New York state Education Department.
Mrs. Fleming was the widow of Robert J. Fleming Sr.
Survivors include a son, Robert J. Fleming, Jr. of Rensselaer; and a daughter, Penelope A. Fleming of Rensselaer.
Burial was in Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
Arrangements were by the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home.

Phoebe B. Baker
SHARON SPRINGS - Mrs. Phoebe B. Baker, who was a supervisor for the Department of Motor Vehicles in Albany, died Monday at home after a short illness. Mrs. Baker, of Briggs Road, was 81.
A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Baker was born in Delanson and attended Cobleskill Central School.
For the past 18 years, she lived in Sharon Springs.
Mrs. Baker worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles for 20 years, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of the Silver and Gold Club; Carlisle Senior Citizens; Cobleskill Eagles Aerie Auxiliary; East Worcester Fish and Game Club; and a charter member of the Cobleskill Fire Auxiliary.
Mrs. Baker was a volunteer for Bassett Healthcare, WELCA and Zion Lutheran Church's Ladies Aid Committee.
Her husband, Burtis Baker, whom she married Jan. 11, 1938, died in 1991.
Survivors include two sons, John Baker of Warnerville and Carl Baker of Seward; two daughters, Janet Davis of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Jacquelyn Costello of Sharon Springs; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Chapel, Leesville.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Lappeus Funeral Home, 113 Park St.
Burial will be in Esperance Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 70 E. Main St., Cobleskill, NY 12043.
