Earnest Ketchmore, Sr.
SCHENECTADY - Earnest Ketchmore Sr., 45, of Robinson Street, died Wednesday at Ellis Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Ketchmore was born in Brooklyn.
He was a high school graduate.
Mr. Ketchmore worked for the Schenectady city sanitation department before retiring.
Mr. Ketchmore was an Episcopalian.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Ketchmore; a daughter, Monica Ketchmore of Schenectady; two sons, Earnest Ketchmore, Jr. and Athel Taylor, both of Schenectady; his mother and stepfather, Mary and Thomas Daverin of Schenectady; three brothers, Warren and Chester Ketchmore and Manning Witherspoon, all of Schenectady; three sisters, Charleen Lewis of Maryland, and Martha and Mary Witherspoon, both of Schenectady; three stepbrothers, Tony, Timothy and Kenny Crippen, all of Schenectady; a stepsister, Pamela Crippen of Schenectady; and a grandson.
A service will be held at noon Monday at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Vale Cemetery.

Irene Joyce
JOHNSTOWN - Mrs. Irene Rzasa Joyce, 83, formerly of East Clinton Street, died Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after a long illness.
Born in Amsterdam, Mrs. Joyce attended St. Stanislaus School and Wilbur Lynch High School.
She was a glove maker for the former Superb and Crescendo Glove companies for 20 years. She later worked for the Gates Mills Co. before retiring.
Mrs. Joyce was a member of the Senior Citizens Club.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Church.
Her husband, Joseph P. Joyce, whom she married May 11, 1946, died in 1996.
Survivors include a son, Greg Joyce of Johnstown; a daughter, Jolene Eaton of Johnstown; a brother, Alex Rzasa of Amsterdam; two sisters, Florence Kiuber of Amsterdam and Evelyn Riggi of Lilly Lake, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 this morning at St. Patrick's Church.
Spring burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wells House Auxiliary, 201 W. Madison Ave., Johnstown, NY 12095.
Arrangements are by the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home.

Julian C. Piela
RENSSELAER - Julian C. Piela, 83, of California Avenue, died Thursday at home after being stricken.
Mr. Piela was born in Albany. He had been a resident of Rensselaer for 53 years.
He was a maintenance mechanic for the Sterling Drug Co. for 35 years.
Mr. Piela was an Army veteran of World War II and served in Hawaii.
He was a communicant of St. John's Church.
Mr. Piela was married to Loretta Farrell Piela until her death.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Marie Piela of Rensselaer; a son, Julian John Piela of East Greenbush; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., and at 10:30 at St. John's Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in East Greenbush.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Katherine Liszewski
AMSTERDAM - Mrs. Katherine C. Liszewski, 77, of Rockton Street, died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Amsterdam, Mrs. Liszewski attended St. Mary's Institute.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Liszewski was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Her husband, Richard A. Liszewski, whom she married Jan. 3, 1948, died in 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Timothy P. and Richard J. Liszewski, both of Amsterdam; two daughters, Carol Eckert of Clifton Park and Karen Liszewski of Amsterdam; three brothers, John Collins, Jr., Joseph Collins and Elton Collins, all of Amsterdam; two sisters, Theresa "Ruth" Handy and Marilyn Bell, both of Amsterdam; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., followed at 10:15 at St. Mary's Church, East Main Street, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
Calling hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Box 11, Amsterdam, NY 12010; or the American Diabetes Association, 50 Colvin Ave., Albany, NY 12206.

Martha Hanken
ALBANY - Mrs. Martha Hanson Hanken, 88, of the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home, formerly of the Ohav Sholom Apartments, died Friday at St. Peter's Hospital.
Mrs. Hanken was a laboratory technician at the Sterling Winthrop Drug Co. in Rensselaer for many years before retiring.
She was active with the Ohav Sholom Apartments Tenants Association.
Mrs. Hanken was a member of Congregation Beth Abraham Jacob in Albany for more than 60 years. She was a member of Abigail Lodge 3 United Order of True Sisters.
Survivors include two brothers, Charles Hanson of Slingerlands and Edward Hanson of Menands.
The service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave.
Burial will be in Beth Abraham Jacob Cemetery, Guilderland.

Mildred Cranston
WYNANTSKILL - Mrs. Mildred E. Cranston, 90, of Rotunda West, Fla., formerly of Clifton Park and Wynantskill, died Friday at Englewood Community Hospital in Englewood, Fla., after a short illness.
Mrs. Cranston was born in Troy.
She had worked as a secretary for the Wynantskill public schools. She had previously been employed as a billing department secretary at Montgomery Ward in Menands.
She was formerly active with the 4-H Club in Wynantskill.
Mrs. Cranston was a member of the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill.
Survivors include her husband, Charles E. Cranston; two daughters, Gail Koenig of Averill Park and Bonita Cranston of Port Charlotte, Fla.; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick St., Troy. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Cemetery of the Evergreens in Lebanon.

Nicholas J. Dominski
TROY - Nicholas J. Dominski, 83, of the Eddy Heritage House, died Wednesday at the home.
Born and raised in Rensselaer, Mr. Dominski moved to Menands in 1946.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a former commander of the Menands Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5989.
Mr. Dominski worked for International Harvester in Menands for several years and later for the Village of Menands Department of Public Works before retiring.
He was a life member of the Menands Fire Company 1 and a member of Colonie Elks Lodge 2192. He was a former president of the Menands Girls Softball League.
Mr. Dominski was a communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church, Menands.
His wife, Edna Howarth Dominski, died Nov. 14.
Survivors include three daughters, Joan Filkins of East Greenbush, Jean Parker of Menands and Lynn England of Egg Harbor, N.J.; a son, Paul Dominski of Colonie; a sister, Lillian Howarth of Averill Park; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday at the Cummings Funeral Home, 643 Third Ave., Watervliet, and at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church, Menands. Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Boulevard, Rensselaer, NY 12144.

Norman Cottrell
NORTH GREENBUSH - Private services will be held for Norman E. Cottrell, 88, of North Greenbush Road, who died Friday at the Stratton Veterans Affairs Medical Center Hospital in Albany after a long illness.
Born in Troy, Mr. Cottrell lived in the Troy and Schenectady areas as well as New York City. He later moved back to East Greenbush.
He was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1930, and attended the University of Alabama.
Mr. Cottrell was a security guard for the New York state Department of Education for many years before retiring in 1970. He had previously been a security guard for American Locomotive and General Electric.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the New York National Guard and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Albany and Averill Park.
Mr. Cottrell was a member of the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church in Troy.
He was the widower of Rosa M. Riglione Cottrell.
Survivors include two sisters, Mildred M. and Edna M. Cottrell, both of North Greenbush.
There are no calling hours.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.
Contributions may be made to charity.

Ralph H. Carpenter, Sr.
SCOTIA - Ralph H. Carpenter, Sr,, 88, of Fredericks Road, died Thursday at Mountainview Manor in Middleburgh after a short illness.
Mr. Carpenter was born in Albany.
He was a painter, paperhanger and taxi driver. He was later a machinist at the General Electric Co. for more than 30 years before retiring.
Mr. Carpenter was a member of the Scotia Senior Citizens.
He was the widower of Bertha Mae Perkins and Sophie Carpenter.
Survivors include a son, Ralph H. Carpenter, Jr. of Clarksville; a daughter, Jean M. Adams of Altamont; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
Memorial contributions may be made to the EMS Rescue Squad, Scotia Fire Department, 148 Mohawk Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.

Theresa Caruso
MECHANICVILLE - Mrs. Theresa R. Caruso, 80, of Hulin Street, died Friday at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after a short illness.
A lifelong resident of Mechanicville, Mrs. Caruso was a 1940 graduate of Mechanicville High School.
She was a seamstress with the American Linen Co. of Stillwater and Barclay's Home Products of Cohoes.
Mrs. Caruso was a communicant of Assumption-St. Paul Church.
Her husband, Ernest F. Caruso, died in 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Francis Caruso of Lecanto, Fla., and Salvadore Caruso of Easton; a daughter, Marlene Stipano of Ballston Spa; a brother, Nicholas Iavarone of Mechanicville; a sister, Sister Rita Iavarone of Chicago, Ill; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Assumption-St. Paul Church, William Street.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St.
Contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Theresa DePalma
CENTRAL BRIDGE - Mrs. Theresa DePalma, 94, of Central Bridge, died Sunday at the home of her nephew, Thomas DePalma.
Born in Jamaica, N.Y., Mrs. DePalma lived in Long Island before moving to Schoharie County in 1989.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Janet Paradiso of New Hyde Park and William C. Paradiso III of Long Beach.
There are no services or calling hours.
Mrs. DePalma has made an anatomical gift to Albany Medical College.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Transplant Research Foundation, SUNY, in care of Millie Paradiso at CIC, 1000 Shames Drive, Westbury, NY 11590.
