Ernest L. Tennant
AMSTERDAM - Ernest L. Tennant, 79, of County Highway 106, died Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in the Town of Day and educated locally, Mr. Tennant moved to Fort Johnson in 1952.
He lived in Amsterdam since 1962.
Mr. Tennant was an oil deliveryman for the Morini Coal & Oil Co., retiring in 1985.
During World War II, he served in the South Pacific with the Army.
Mr. Tennant was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite L. Kraft Tennant, whom he married Feb. 1, 1947; a son, the Rev. Thomas W. Tennant of Canajoharie; a daughter, Kathy A. Bever of the Town of Florida; three brothers, Cecil Tennant of Edinburg, Raymond Tennant of Hadley and Wolfred Tennant of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Pearl Colvin of Edinburg; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave.
Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam in care of the funeral home.

Eugene O. Michaels
MECHANICVILLE - Eugene O. Michaels, 44, of Leonard Street, formerly of Hoosick Falls, died Tuesday as the result of injuries sustained at his job.
Born in Albany, Mr. Michaels was a graduate of Berlin High School.
He was a groundsman/laborer at the Barry Oxford Co. in Latham. He had previously been employed as a groundsman for Kelly Enterprises at Brodie Mountain in Massachusetts.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Crandall Michaels, whom he married April 26, 1983; a daughter, Hope L. Michaels of Mechanicville; a son, Eugene O. Michaels Jr. of Mechanicville; his parents, William H. and Ruth Slater Michaels Sr. of Cropseyville; six brothers, Francis, Leland and Robert O. Michaels, all of Cohoes, William H. Michaels Jr. of Grafton, David Michaels of Maine and Alexander L. Michaels of Mechanicville; three sisters, Shirley Stanley of Salem, Jenny Seitz of Cairo and Kathleen LaMagdeleine of Hoosick Falls.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St.
Burial will be in Berlin Community Cemetery.
Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Florence Magnolia
ALBANY - Mrs. Florence A. Magnolia, 72, of Albany died Tuesday at St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Kingston, Mrs. Magnolia lived most of her life in Albany.
She was the widow of Carl A. Magnolia.
Survivors include three daughters, Marion F. Boyd of Rensselaer, Carol Engel of Guilderland and Kathy Greene of Colonie; a sister, Bernice Knapp of Rensselaer; a brother, Michael Falkowski of Rensselaer; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.

Freda Morehouse
SARATOGA SPRINGS - Mrs. Freda M. Morehouse, 86, of Ballston Avenue, died Wednesday at the Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa.
Mrs. Morehouse was born in Grafton, W.Va. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Grafton for several years.
She was a member of the United Brethren In Christ Church.
Survivors include six daughters, Adele Morehouse and Patsy Brackett, both of Saratoga Springs, Frances Archunde of Farmington, N.M., Linda Beecham of Watervliet, Mich., Debbie Mannex of Bald Mountain, Corinth, and Mary Jane Warner of Florida; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
The service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway. A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ballston Village Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity.

COLONIE - A graveside service will be held for Hubert "Pick" Byrne, who died Feb. 15.
It will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Memorial Park.

Jeanette Skinner
NISKAYUNA - Mrs. Jeanette Tice Skinner, 79, of Van Antwerp Road died Wednesday at home after a long illness.
Born in Mount Vernon, Mrs. Skinner moved to Schenectady in 1955 from Greenfield Center, where she lived for three years.
She was a secretary at Union College for 10 years, and then for WMHT for six years, retiring in 1986.
Mrs. Skinner was a member and volunteer for the Niskayuna Seniors; and a member of The Studio Bridge Group, Eastern Parkway.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Albert L. Skinner, died in 1956.
Survivors include a son, Stephen A. Skinner of Clifton Park; a daughter, Laura J. Skinner-Davis of Arlington, Va.; and four grandchildren.
A service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Faith United Methodist Church, Brandywine and Eastern Avenue.
Burial will be in Middle Paten Cemetery, Bedford.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St.

John Banasek
SCHENECTADY - John Banasek, 93, of Summit Avenue died Tuesday at St. Clare's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Poland, Mr. Banasek came to Hudson at age 17 and to Schenectady in 1924.
For more than 40 years, he worked in the maintenance department for the General Electric Co., retiring in 1966.
Mr. Banasek was a member of the Annie Schaffer Senior Citizens and the GE Quarter Century Club.
He was a communicant of the Church of St. Adalbert.
His son, Chester Banasek, died in January.
Survivors include a daughter, Pauline Breski of Rotterdam; a brother, Leon Barnish of Schenectady; and two grandchildren.
A service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Leszczynski Funeral Home, 716 Crane St.
Burial will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Kenneth F. Aleman
ALBANY - Kenneth F. Aleman, 76, of Albany died Monday at Albany Memorial Hospital.
Born in Massachusetts, Mr. Aleman lived most of his life in Albany.
He was a maintenance worker for the New York State Teachers Retirement System for many years.
Survivors include a brother, Gaylord Aleman of Winsted, Conn.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Albany.

Margaret Rueter
ROTTERDAM - Mrs. Margaret A. Rueter, 72, of Palma Avenue, died Tuesday at home after a long illness.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Rueter was a 1944 graduate of Draper High School.
For more than 23 years, she was an executive for Macy's department store before retiring in 1989.
Mrs. Rueter was a former Cub Scout den mother and a member of the Ladies of the Rotterdam Elks.
She also was a member of and Sunday school teacher at Broadway United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Curtis D. Rueter of Blakely, Ga., and Wayne A. Rueter of Rotterdam; a sister, Patricia A. Looman of Rotterdam; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave.
Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 tonight.

William H. Taylor
SCHENECTADY - William H. Taylor, 75, of Huron Court, died at home Friday after being stricken.
Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Schenectady in 1975 and worked as an equipment repairman at Schenectady County Community College from 1980 to 1995.
He earned an associate's degree in 1995 from SCCC.
Mr. Taylor worked as an Army supply sergeant during the Korean War and served in the National Guard for 25 years.
He was a volunteer at the Schenectady County Public Library.
His wife, Marilyn Clarkson Taylor, died in 1975.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Ann Taylor of Schenectady; a son, Gregory Taylor of Scotia; a brother, Robert Taylor of Houston; and three sisters, Joan Case of Melrose, and Dorothy Harris and Carol Ann Perritt, both of California.
Services will be private. There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be at a later date in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
Arrangements are by the DeLegge Funeral Home, 1346 Chrisler Ave.
