Mary Verola
SCHENECTADY - Mrs. Mary Verola, 81, of Kings Road, died Monday at St. Clare's Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Naples, Italy, Mrs. Verola was a graduate of Brooklyn schools. She came to this country at 11 years of age and lived on Long Island before moving to the Schenectady area in 1986.
Mrs. Verola was a homemaker.
Her husband, Nicholas W. Verola Sr., whom she married Aug. 26, 1942, died in 1996.
Survivors include a son, Nicholas W. Verola Jr. of Charlton; two daughters, Lucille Antoniello of Commack and Rochelle Davis of Seaford; two brothers, John Andrews of Harrison and Anthony Angelone of Hicksville; a sister, Antoinette Rinaldi of Mayopac; and seven grandsons.
The services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State St., and at 10 a.m. the Liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Glenville. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.

Muriel Stewart
SUMMIT - Mrs. Muriel "Mim" Stewart, 81, of Charlotteville Road, died Sunday at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County after a long illness.
Born in New York City, Mrs. Stewart came to Summit from the Bronx in 1949.
She and her husband were co-owners and operators of the former Summit Telephone Co., which was sold in 1973 to the Middleburgh Telephone Co.
Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Summit Fire Department.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Richmondville.
Joseph T. Stewart, whom she married in 1940, died in 1999.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Legasse of Cobleskill, Patricia Shepherd of Worcester and Maureen Johns of Summit; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Robert A. Guffin Funeral Home, 1 Chapel St., Cobleskill. A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Summit Cemetery.

Peter Corey
HALFMOON - A service will be held for Peter J. Corey, who died Aug. 4.
It will be held with full military honors at 11 a.m. Friday at the Saratoga National Cemetery.

Prince Brown
SCHENECTADY - Prince Brown, 66, of Mumford Street, died Friday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after being stricken.
Born and educated in Rome, Oneida County, Mr. Brown lived in New York City before moving to the local area five years ago.
He was a janitor in the metropolitan area, retiring in 1995.
Survivors include four sons, Fontaine Brown Cook and Okeema Brown, both of the Bronx, Richard Brown Simpson and Clifford Drummond, both of Schenectady; three stepsons, Robert Drummond and David Randolph, both of Schenectady, and Jerome Drummond of Syracuse; a daughter, Maxine Brown Simpson of Schenectady; and a stepdaughter, Paulette Simpson of Schenectady.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State St. A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Park View Cemetery.

Ruth Deyo
SARATOGA SPRINGS - Mrs. Ruth Braden Deyo, 70, of Avery Street, died Saturday at home.
Born in Saratoga Springs, Mrs. Deyo was a legal secretary for several area law firms, including Stanley VanRensselaer and Richard Mullaney. She was also an administrative assistant for Saratoga County before retiring in 1994.
Her son, Douglas Deyo, died this year.
Survivors include a son, Brian S. Deyo of Gansevoort; three daughters, Carole Deyo of Albany, Kathryn King and Constance Brewer, both of Saratoga Springs; and eight grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 tonight at the William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway.
Burial will be private.

Sophia Itskov
ALBANY - Mrs. Sophia K. Itskov, 50, of Providence Street, died Monday at Albany Medical Center after being stricken.
Born in Gomel, Russia, Mrs. Itskov came to the United States in 1980.
She worked for the NYS Health Department in Albany until her retirement. She also coordinated the emigration of many Russian families to the United States.
Mrs. Itskov was a member of Temple Israel.
Survivors include her husband, Gilya Itskov; two sons, Alex Itskov of Albany and Arkady Itskov of Troy; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Temple Israel Cemetery, Western Avenue, Guilderland.
Arrangements are by the Levine Memorial Chapel.

Troy Allen Monk
CANAJOHARIE - Private services were held for Troy Allen Monk, 30, of Cliff Street, who died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born in Amsterdam, Mr. Monk was educated at Canajoharie Central School.
He was formerly a truck driver with the Pecos Trucking Co. of New Mexico.
Mr. Monk returned to Canajoharie three months ago.
He attended Calvary Chapel in New Mexico.
Survivors include his wife, Sybil Barber Monk, whom he married March 31, 1998; his parents, Richard and Teresa Monk of Canajoharie; three daughters, Heather, Tabatha and Jade Monk, all of Canajoharie; a stepson, Zain Barber of Canajoharie; a brother, Richard A. Monk of Canajoharie; two sisters, Stacey Monk of Canajoharie and Robin Jusenius of Fonda; and his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Hinderliter of Broadalbin.
Burial was in Ephratah Rural Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to a memorial trust fund established for his children at Central National Bank in Canajoharie.
Arrangements were by the Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home.

John R. Breen
KINDERHOOK - John R. Breen, 63, died Monday at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, after a long illness.
Born in Albany, Mr. Breen was a school bus driver and instructor for Ichabod Crane Central School for 15 years, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of the Kinderhook Elks and Tri Village Rod & Gun Club of Valatie.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Brantigan Breen; two sons, Michael P. and Todd J. Breen, both of Kinderhook; and a grandchild.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.

Yolanda Salas de Murillo
AMSTERDAM - Mrs. Yolanda Salas de Murillo, 79, of Alajuela, Costa Rica, died Monday in Alajuela after a short illness.
A lifelong Alajuela resident, Mrs. Murillo was a communicant of Iglesia Carmen Roman Catholic Church.
Her husband, Luis Murillo, died March 29.
Survivors include a son, Carlos Murillo of Amsterdam; three daughters, Yolanda Phillips, Xinia Murillo and Gilda Rodriguez, all of Alajuela; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be in Alajuela.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Grove Street.
Local arrangements are by the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Amsterdam.

Markus Eggenberger
NISKAYUNA - Markus A. Eggenberger, 81, of Niskayuna, died Saturday at Ellis Hospital after a short illness.
enbergerBorn and raised in Herisav, Switzerland, Mr. Eggenberger received a master of mechanical engineering license from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in 1944.
He was a first lieutenant pilot in the Swiss Air Force from 1938 to 1950, serving 1,666 days during World War II.
After moving to the United States, Mr. Eggenberger was an engineer at the General Electric Co. from 1950 until retiring in 1983.
Mr. Eggenberger was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and held the office of chairman P.T.C. 20 in New York City from 1960 to 1969. He received the service award Electricite de France in 1953, a Fellowship in A.S.M.E. in 1967, the A.S.M.E. Service Award in 1970 and the GE Power System Sector Award in 1980. He also held 31 U.S. patents and 18 publications.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Llanie Eggenberger; two daughters, Sylvia Honton of Sacramento, Calif., and Helen Crow of Scotia; two sisters, Verena Onigkeit and Ursula Aerni, both of Switzerland; and two grandchildren.
A service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Philippines.
