Maria Czeresniowska
WATERVLIET - Mrs. Maria Czeresniowska, 86, formerly of the Hanratta Apartments, died Monday at Van Rensselaer Manor, North Greenbush.
Born and raised in the Ukraine, Mrs. Czeresniowska moved to the United States in January 1973 and settled in Watervliet. She also lived in Latham.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Ukranian National Women's League of America (Soyuz-Ukrainok) and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ukranian Club of Watervliet. She was also a communicant of St. Nicholas Ukranian Catholic Church.
Mrs. Czeresniowska was the widow of Anthony Czeresniowska and Michael Fil.
Survivors include two sons, Nicholas Fil of Latham and John Fil of Menands; two daughters, Maria Kulyk of North Greenbush and Irene Klem of Troy; a brother, Nicholas Szaszkewycz of the Ukraine; a sister, Tekla Komarowska of the Ukraine; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Parker Brothers Memorial, 2013 Broadway, followed at 9:30 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Church, where the funeral liturgy will be celebrated.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Panakhyda Service will be held at 7.
Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Maplewood.
Memorial contributions may be made to the UNWLA's Milk & Roll Program for starving school children in the Ukraine in care of the funeral home.

Josephine Smimmo
GLOVERSVILLE - Mrs. Josephine L. Smimmo, 76, of Forest Hill Towers, died Sunday at the home of her daughter in Chester, Orange County, after a long illness.
Born in Brooklyn, Mrs. Smimmo was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church; R.I.D.; and the Red Cross.
She was a homemaker.
John M. Smimmo, whom she married Jan. 24, 1943, died Aug. 28, 1987.
Survivors include four daughters, Marianne Sovick of Bethel Park, Pa., Emilia Conroy of Chester, Vincenza Coadney of Gloversville and Angela Smimmo of Amsterdam; two sons, Pasquale Smimmo of Chester and Ralph Smimmo of Hurst, Texas; three sisters, Luigina Latella of Long Island City, Marianna Laurenzano of New Mexico and Angelina Maniscako of Goshen; a brother; Anthony Grosso of Albuquerque, N.M.; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, S. Main Street, Gloversville.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 today and 7 to 9 tonight at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.
Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.

Jane Sayles, 85, Schenectady, Edison Club golf champion
SCHENECTADY - Mrs. Jane DeCorah Sayles, 85, of Bradt Street, died Thursday at St. Clare's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Sayles was a Schenectady High School graduate.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Sayles was a 60-year member of the Edison Club and was named women's golf champion 15 times over 34 years. She was also women's senior club champion and was runner-up in the New York State Women's Amateur in 1960. She was elected a charter member of the Edison Club Hall of Fame in 1982.
She was a member of the 70+ Ski Club and the Northeastern Women Golf Association.
Audre L. Sayles, whom she married April 30, 1940, died in 1989.
Survivors include a daughter, Deirdre Wedekind of Galway; four sisters, Marian Greeley of Oakridge, Tenn., Helen Kuhlberg of Burnt Hills, Rita Thacheray of Clifton Park and Ruth Bull of West Charlton; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Bond Funeral Home, Broadway and Guilderland Avenue.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.

John Bradshaw, Schenectady, WWII vet, former RPI teacher
SCHENECTADY - John Alden Bradshaw, 81, of Green Street, died Sept. 28 after being stricken while in Agriento, Italy.
Born in Ann Arbor, Mich., Mr. Bradshaw graduated from Cranbrook School and Harvard University.
During World War II, he served five years with the Army Field Artillery and reached Europe with a howitzer battalion just as the Allied Forces crossed the Rhine. He was discharged as a major.
After his military discharge, Mr. Bradshaw returned to Harvard University and received a master's degree in physics and electrical engineering; and a Ph.D. in electron physics.
For several years, he worked at the General Electric Research Laboratory.
Mr. Bradshaw then taught microwave engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, until retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the First Unitarian Society of Schenectady; the Torch Club; and was a charter member of the Singletons Club.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Bradshaw Whaley of State College, Pa.
A memorial service will be announced by the Feeley-Nuzback Funeral Home, Scotia.
Burial will be in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Eva F. Gray, 103, Rensselaer resident, registered nurse
RENSSELAER - Private services will be held for Miss Eva F. Gray, 103, formerly of Highland Avenue, who died Friday at the Van Rensselaer Manor after a long illness.
Miss Gray was born in Rensselaer and was a lifelong Rensselaer resident.
She was a registered nurse for the New York Telephone Co. for 14 years, retiring in 1962.
There are no immediate survivors.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity.
Arrangements are by the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home.

Rose Izzo
MECHANICVILLE - Mrs. Rose M. Izzo, 75, of North Main Street, died Friday at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a short illness.
Born and raised in Mechanicville, Mrs. Izzo was a cafeteria worker at the Mechanicville Elementary School for many years, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of the Mid-Rise Tenants Association.
Mrs. Izzo was a communicant of Assumption-St. Paul Church and its Rosary Altar Society.
Her husband, Anthony S. Izzo, died Sept. 17, 1985.
Survivors include three daughters, AnneMarie Grimaldi, Carmella Ramnes and Shirley Herrington, all of Mechanicville; and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Assumption-St. Paul, William Street Church.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.

Norman Beaudry
SCHENECTADY - Norman J. Beaudry, 82, of Hodgson Street, died Thursday at Ellis Hospital after a short illness.
Born and educated in North Adams, Mass., Mr. Beaudry moved to the local area as a young man.
He was a crane operator for Altech Steel in Watervliet for more than 35 years, retiring in 1977.
Mr. Beaudry was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 357.
He was a member of the Annie Schaffer Senior Citizens.
Mr. Beaudry attended Mt. Carmel Church.
Survivors include his companion, Virginia Massaro; six sons, Raymond, James, Steve and Paul Beaudry, all of Cropseyville, Danny Beaudry of Florida and Peter Beaudry of Berlin, Rensselaer County; a daughter, Mary Young of Johnsonville; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Henry Mellman
GLOVERSVILLE - Henry Jay Mellman, 62, of Grand Street, died Friday at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Mellman moved to Gloversville and worked at the Lexington Day Treatment Center.
He attended Knesseth Israel Synagogue.
Survivors include a sister, Sybil Evans of New York City.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at King Solomon Memorial Park, Clifton, N.J.
There are no calling hours.
Contributions may be made to the Lexington Center of Gloversville.

Eleanor Smullens
JOHNSTOWN - Miss Eleanor Smullens, 87, formerly of Pleasant Avenue, died Thursday at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, where she had resided since 1996.
Born and educated in Johnstown, Miss Smullens was a lifelong area resident.
She was an examiner for the former H.G. Pitman Glove Co.
Miss Smullens subsequently worked for the Grandoe Glove Corp., retiring several years ago.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church.
Miss Smullens was a member of the Amalgamated Textile Workers Union.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the John W. Finocan Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Ave., and at 10 at St. Patrick's Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Susan Teresco
AMSTERDAM - Mrs. Susan J. Teresco, 52, of Kreisel Terrace, died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Amsterdam, Mrs. Teresco was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School.
She was a bookkeeper for 25 years at Spagnola & Spagnola Bookkeeping and Tax Service until retiring.
Mrs. Teresco was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas J. Teresco Sr., whom she married Oct. 19, 1969; three sons, James D. Teresco of Williamstown, Mass., Todd P. Teresco of East Greenbush and Douglas J. Teresco Jr. of Amsterdam; her mother, Anne Zack of Amsterdam; and a brother, Ronald Zack of Amsterdam.
A service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Riley Mortuary, 110 Division St., followed at 9:15 at St. Mary's Church, 156 E. Main St., where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.
