Edna L. Mayo
Belmont, NY
Edna L. Mayo, 86, a former resident of 7 Willets Avenue, died on October 1, 2003 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was born July 20, 1917 in Genesee, PA., the daughter of Samuel and Mildred (Long) Shutt. On April 29, 1933 in Wellsville, N. Y. she married Herbert W. Mayo who predeceased her on October 18, 1982. Edna was a long time resident of Bradford, PA, Belmont and the Mater Dei in Scio before moving to the Wellsville Manor a year ago. She was formerly employed at the Bradford Hospital and Alfred State Agricultural & Technical College, retiring in 1979. She was long time member of the Belmont United Methodist Church and the M. Eva Williams Chapter # 192 Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Gertrude M. Yohe of Derrick City, PA.1 son, Edward W. (Dee) Mayo of Winter Haven, FL. 4 Grandchildren, David J. Mayo of Wellsville, NY Dale L. Yohe of Bradford, PA. Tina L. Yohe of Derrick City, PA., and Dolly (Bill) Plowman of Bradford, PA., 6 Great Grandchildren, 1 great, great granddaughter, a sister in law, Clara Shutt of Bradford, PA., and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Harry and Merle Shutt, 2 sisters Beatrice Fohl and Lillian Wyckoff as well as 2 grandchildren.
Friends are invited to call on Friday October 3rd. from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Belmont, NY The funeral will follow visitation at 2:00 PM in the funeral home. Rev. Sandra Lasher, will preside at the service, interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Belmont and memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the charity of the donors choice.

Edward Francis Mehmel, Sr.
Wellsville, NY
Edward Francis Mehmel, Sr., 75, of 5897 Tuckers Corners Road, died suddenly on Thursday (November 25, 2004) at Buffalo General Hospital. He was born on May 13, 1929, in Bronx to William and Helen (White) Mehmel. He was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Jeffers 27 mine sweeper. He was married for 53 years to his beloved wife, Ruth Marie Mehmel, who predeceased him Jan. 23, 2003. Ed worked for Verizon/NYNEX/AT&T and retired as manager with over 30 years of service.
He is survived by his children, Edward F. (Nancy) Mehmel Jr., Thomas (Emma) Mehmel Sr., Gene (Janet) Mehmel, Michael Mehmel, John (Patricia) Mehmel, Peter (Sherri) Mehmel, Patrick (Debbie) Mehmel and Theresa (Charles) Kernell, 27 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William and Robert Mehmel; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 17 Schuyler St., Belmont, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Divine liturgy and funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Joseph Bertha on Tuesday at 11 am at St. Mary’s Byzantine Dormition Catholic Church on Fountain Street in Olean.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church.

EDWARD SAILER
Sanibel, FL
EDWARD SAILER, 72, of Sanibel, FL. passed away Friday, April 2, 2004 in Sanibel, FL. He was born June 9, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY the son of Eugene and Hilda (Strasse) Sailer. On June 12, 1954 in Wellsville, NY he married Joan Esther Jacobs, who predeceased him March 19, 2003.
Ed grew up in Long Island, NY. He attended Alfred University; where he met his future wife be Joan Jacobs, and graduated with a degree in Ceramic Engineering. He was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He spent the greater part of his working life in Wappingers Falls employed by IBM. In the early 1970’s he earned a masters degree in Business Administration from Union college. In 1980 he moved with his family to Paris, France where he enjoyed travel, meeting new people, and the French culture. He retired from IBM shortly after returning to the United States and moved to Sanibel, FL. There he began a very successful second career in real estate and became well known in the community.
His passions were spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and playing racquetball. Ed will be missed by his family and friends and will be remembered for his powerful personality, positive attitude, and generous nature.
Survivors include 1 son: Richard Sailer of Florida; 2 daughters: Linda (Kenneth) Enders of Texas and New York, and Janet (Heico) Thorn of Florida; 4 grandchildren: Kory and Kyra Enders; and Chelsea and Nicholas Thorn, 2 nieces: Betty Rector and Carol Throm; and 1 nephew: William Throm.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by 1 sister: Irma Throm.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm only at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Belmont. The funeral service will be Friday, April 9, 2004 at 10:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Sandra Lasher presiding. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery in Belmont. Memorial suggestions include the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge (1 Wildlife Society Drive Sanibel, Fl. 33957) . A Florida memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Eleanor Schettine
Wellsville, NY
Eleanor Schettine, 87, of 97 Rauber Street, died August 14, 2003 in Ocala, FL. She was born June 23, 1916 in Franks, OH the daughter of Aloysius and Amelia (Raufeisen) Casanova. In 1936 in Bowling Green, OH she married Anthony Schettine who predeceased her.
Eleanor is a former resident of Sandusky, OH and worked as a homemaker. She was a loving mother, grandmother and avid gardener who enjoyed cooking, canning, and reading. She was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville.
She is survived by 3 sons: John Schettine of Wellsville, Robert Schettine of Richmond, VA, William Schettine of Ocala, FL, 4 Daughters: Sylvia Vetter of Rochester, Marlene Connor of Wellsville, Carol Schettine of Richmond, VA, and Janet Coppini of Wellsville. Also Surviving are 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 29 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was predeceased by a son; James Schettine in 1966 and 1 brother and 1 sister.
Friends are invited to call Monday from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. On Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at 10:30 am there will be a prayer service at the funeral home followed by a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wellsville. Memorials may be made to the donors choice of charity.

Eleanore Clark
Wellsville, NY
Eleanore Clark, of Room 231 Manor Hills, formerly of East Aurora passed away at Jones Memorial Hospital on Sunday October 26. She was born on December 18, 1907 in East Aurora and married Earl Clark who predeceased her in 1982. She moved to Wellsville in March of 2001 and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in East Aurora and the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville.
She is survived by a son Larry [Debbie] Clark of Wellsville, a grandson Bryan and a sister Sally Fenner of Orchard Park as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Paul Clark in 1962.
There will be no prior visitation and a memorial mass will be held in East Aurora at later date. Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception School in Wellsville. Arrangements are under the direction of the J.W. Embser & Sons F.H. in Wellsville.

EMMA R. TANNER
Alma, NY
EMMA R. TANNER, 86, of 238 Pump Station Road, passed away on Wednesday November 10, 2004 at Jones Memorial Hospital. She was born May 20, 1918 in Dunkirk the daughter of Floyd and Jenny (Schneider) Sheriff. On October 17, 1945 in North East, PA she married Howard A. Tanner who predeceased her on January 19, 1998.
Emma was raised in Dunkirk, and later moved to Angola where she had owned & operated Tanner’s Florist. After turning the florist business over to she son Jack; she then founded & managed Tanner’s Delicatessen in Angola for many years. In 1973 she moved to Wellsville, went back to school and obtained her GED. She then attended Jamestown Community College and Alfred State College and earned an associate degree. After receiving her Real Estate and Broker Licenses she started Rural Allegany Reality which she operated for a number of years. She had volunteered at Wellsville Highland Healthcare Center and was a long time supporter of the SPCA Serving Allegany County.
She is survived by 3 sons; Jack (Charlotte) Tyler of Valley, AL, Floyd (Carol) Tyler of Punta Gorda, FL and Frank Tanner of Wildwood, PA; 1 daughter; Karen (Steve) Dickerson of Alma as well as 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased in addition to her husband by a foster son John “Jack” Van Dette in 1998.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will be Saturday November 13th at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Angola and memorial suggestions include the SPCA Serving Allegany County.
