Ethel I. Jordan

Ethel I. Jordan, 100, of 160 Seneca Street, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2003 at Wellsville Highland Health Care Center. She was born on November 22, 1903 in the town of Wellsville, the daughter of Lewis and Emma (Heers) Brandes. On October 17, 1927 in Wellsville she married Edward Jordan, who predeceased her in April of 1941.
Ethel was a former resident of Limestone, returned to Wellsville in 1978 and had been a resident of Manor Hills prior to moving to Highland. She attended Wellsville High School and graduated from the Geneva General School of Nursing in 1924. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Jones Memorial Hospital and was a private duty nurse for many years. She was a former member of the Limestone United Methodist Church, a member of the Stannards United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Portville Order of the Eastern Star and the Wellsville Golden Agers.
She is survived by step grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her beloved church family. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by 1 stepdaughter, 4 sisters Grace Vossler, Laura Vossler, Mary Ellsworth, Mabel Bohne, and 4 brothers, Luman Brandes, Paul Brandes, Wilfred Brandes, and Henry Brandes.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will be Monday, December 1, 2003 at 11:00 am at the Stannards United Methodist Church, 3339 Hallsport Road with Rev. Regina Shaw presiding. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville. Memorial suggestions include the Stannards United Methodist Church, Jones Memorial Hospital, Woodlawn Cemetery Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
FRANCES PASCARELLA

FRANCES PASCARELLA, 83, passed away on Saturday September 4, 2004 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was born on July 16, 1921 in Great Valley, NY. She had attended the University of Rochester and was a former resident of the Olean area. She is survived by her son Eric Hartburg of Salamanca.
Burial will be in the Little Valley Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial suggestions include the Manor Hills Activities Department 4192 B. Bolivar Road Wellsville, NY 14895. Arrangements are under the direction of the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc.
Francis D. Vincent
Allentown, NY
Francis D. Vincent, of 5828 Allen Street, passed away on Friday October 24, 2003 at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. He was born June 23, 1922 in Allentown, the son of Albert and Vera (White) Vincent. On August 23, 1950 in Bolivar he married Virginia Tucker, who survives. Franny was a life long resident of Allentown, was a 1939 graduate of the Allentown Union School and was a veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Air Force in the European Theater of Operation. He began his career with the Vincent & Vincent Oil Company of Allentown and later was employed by the Ebenezer Oil Company of Wellsville for 31 years, retiring in 1984. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 2721 in Cuba, the Morrison-Hayes Post 702 American Legion in Wellsville, the Allegany County Volunteer Firemen’s Association, the Allentown Volunteer Fire Department and the North American Hunting Club. He was a member of National Rifle Association, the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, the Alma Rod & Gun Club, the American Association of Retired Persons and the Allentown United Methodist Church.
Freda Rae Johnson
Wellsville, NY
Freda Rae Johnson, cherished mother, grandmother and friend of 10 Milton Street, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday December 18, 2003 after a brief illness. She was born on August 30, 1920 in Belmont to Raymond and Gladys Kurtz Cline. On May 20 1950 she married Emmett Johnson who predeceased her on May 12, 1992.
Freda Rae graduated from Friendship High School and from the Roberts Beauty School in Buffalo. She worked for Friendship Central School, her fathers Rexal Drug Store in Friendship and wrote a column in the former Friendship Registrar titled “Round the Town”. She moved to the Buffalo area and back to Belmont in the late 1940’s and worked for Dr. Edward Schwert. In 1948 she started the Freda Rae Beauty Salon and for 50 years she ran the salon. During those years she worked for the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home and was an Election Inspector. Her love of people inspired her to become an Independent Shaklee Distributor operating from her home for 25 years.
Her memberships include: The Order of the Eastern Star of Belmont, the Belmont American Legion Auxiliary and the Belmont United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: 2 daughters Judith (Daniel) King of Port Charlotte, FL and Loraine (William) Hand of Belmont; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; 2 close friends June Rose and Darlene Garfield.
She was predeceased by: her parents, step father Louis Cook and a son Jeffrey in 1974.
Friends are invited to call at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Belmont on Sunday December 21 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11am in the Funeral Home with Rev, Sandra Lasher presiding. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery and memorials may be made to the Belmont United Methodist Church or to the Amity Rescue Squad.
Frieda Hanson Howe

Frieda Hanson Howe, a former 60 year resident of 528 Main Street, passed away on Wednesday November 12, 2003 at the Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls, NY. She was born August 12, 1917 in Newport, ME.; the daughter of Fred L. and Mabel (Newcombe) Hanson. On August 24, 1935 in Belmont, NY she married C. Dexter Howe, who predeceased her on October, 21, 1974.
Frieda was a graduate of Belmont High School, was a member of the Cherry Circle, Current Events Club and the 31 Club all of Whitesville, as well as being the oldest member of the Whitesville Fire Department Auxiliary.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Diana (Thomas) Webster of Beaver Dams, NY. 3 grandchildren, Christina (Moises) Ramirez of Willimantic, CT., Thomas Dexter (Lisa) Webster of Savona, NY., Scott Everett (Cindi) Webster of Athens, PA., 6 great grandchildren and 1 niece. She was predeceased by 1 brother, Everett Lowell Hanson in 1974.
There will be no prior visitation. Friends are invited to attend the graveside service on Friday November 14th at 11:00 am in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville, NY. Captain Moises Ramirez will preside and memorial suggestions include the Whitesville United Methodist Church or the Whitesville Fire Department Auxiliary. Arrangements are under the J. W. Genevieve F. Clark

Genevieve F. Clark, of 160 Seneca Street, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 10, 2003 at the Wellsville Highland Healthcare Center. She was born January 21, 1909 in Cohocton, the daughter of Ray and Mae (Hope) Fairbrother. Gen was a former resident of Hornell, where she had been employed as a cook at the Big Elms for 21 years. She later cooked for the Sherman Shults family for many years. She retired to Naples, Fl. and moved to Wellsville in the early 1980’s.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Myrna (Dominick) Petrelli of Wellsville, 3 grandsons, Jeffrey Petersen, Roger (Jill) Petersen and Andrew Petrelli all of Wellsville, 1 sister, Clara Burling of Brockport, 1 brother, Calvin (Fran) Fairbrother of Zephyrhills, FL. and several nieces & nephews.
There will be no prior visitation and services will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial suggestions include the Wellsville Highland Healthcare Center activities department. Arrangements are under the direction of the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville.
Florence N. ”Flo” Schrlau

Florence N. ”Flo” Schrlau, of 202 Maple Ave., died Sunday November 23, 2003 at Jones Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 12, 1913 in Wellsville to Charles and Marcella [Gibbons] Tait. On October 26, 1938 she married Howard Schrlau who predeceased her on March 21, 1954. Flo had lived in many places but Wellsville had been her home for many years. She worked at the former Village Coffee Shop and was a member of the VFW auxiliary both in Wellsville. She loved animals, especially cats and supported the SPCA.
Survivors include: her daughter Esther Costello of Wellsville. 2 grandsons: Robert M. [Betty] Costello of Wellsville and William Costello of Westerville,OH.; 5 granddaughters: Sandra Carlin of Wellsville, Carolyn McAhon of Charleston,SC,Donna Baker of Webster, Barbara [Gary] Jordan of Wellsville, and Cynthia Costello of Wellsville; 14 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Her care giver and friend Barb Roeske of Wellsville; She was predeceased by a brother Gerald Tait and a sister Louise Cole.
Friends are invited to call on Friday November 28 from 12 noon to 2pm in the J.W. Embser & Sons F.H. in Wellsville followed by a Funeral service at 2pm in the Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery and Memorials may be made to the Allegany County SPCA.
