LAURA L. OUTMAN, 58, of 1090 A State Route 248, passed away on Wednesday August 18, 2004 at Jones Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 21, 1946 in Bath, NY the daughter of Francis and Elizabeth (Kirkum) Rice. On December 11, 1962 in Wellsville she married Raymond J. Outman Sr. who predeceased her on December 26, 1988.
Laura was raised in Addison, NY and Elkland, PA by her mother and stepfather Elizabeth and Leonard Stocum and had formerly resided in Genesee, PA. She had been employed by Galeton Production, Ulysses Woodcraft and most recently by Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.
She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Jenkins of Westfield, PA, her stepfather, Leonard “Sonny” Stocum of Osceola, PA, 6 children, Raymond (Terri) Outman Jr., Rodney (Tina) Outman and Anita (Joshua Stebbins) Outman all of Whitesville, LaRae (Guy) Kio of Scio, Douglas (Angela) Outman of Wellsville, Lucille (James) Edwards of Allentown. 15 Grandchildren, 1 sister, Dorothy Burnside of Elmira, 1 brother, Duanne (Jenny) Stocum of Wellsboro, PA 2 stepbrothers, William (Alice) Rice of Savona, Francis (Laura) Rice of Conway, Washington, 2 stepsisters, Margaret (Robert) Wormley of Mansfield, PA Alberta (Pete) Potter of Cameron, NY and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Allen “Joe” Rice and a sister, Anna Kline.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will be Saturday August 21st at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Rev. Michael Brady presiding. Burial will be in Genesee Cemetery, Genesee, PA.

Laurie Ann Wesche Mickle, 40, of 3202 Madison Hill, passed away on Sunday May 30, 2004 at Jones Memorial Hospital with family at her side. She was born October 23, 1963 in Wellsville, the daughter of Ernest and Eleanor (Sprague) Wesche. On November 21, 1981 in Wellsville she married James Mickle who survives.
Laurie had been employed as a caregiver and was a manager of the former Lester Shoe Store in Wellsville. She later worked at Hamilton’s, Fisher’s Pharmacy and the Immaculate Conception Nursery School. She is a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, was an active volunteer for the Wellsville Chamber of Commerce as the Christmas Open House Fireworks Chairman and had served as the President of the Immaculate Conception Home School Association. She enjoyed swimming, bike riding and was a NASCAR fan. She loved helping people and being with her family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband Jim, is a son George Mickle of Wellsville, her mother, Eleanor Wesche of Wellsville, 4 brothers, Thomas (Arlene) Wesche, Lanny (Cheryl) Wesche, William (Nichole) Wesche all of Wellsville and Denny (Tina) Wesche of Colorado Springs, CO. 1 sister, Donna (Wayne) Gloff of Castile, her mother-in-law, Patricia Mickle of Wellsville, Brother in law Mike (Jackie) Mickle of Wellsville as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Ernest Wesche on July 28, 2003.
The family would like to acknowledge their love and appreciation to friends and family who are invited to call on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. and Friday from 10:00 to 10:30 am at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday June 4th at 11:00 am in the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville, with Rev. Dennis Wolf as Celebrant. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellsville. Laurie suggested memorials to the Immaculate Conception Church, the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center Box 704 P.O. Leon M. Lowrie, of 4192 A Bolivar Road, died Tuesday September 2, 2003 in the Wellsville Manor Care Center. He was born in Spring Mills, NY. to William and Mary [Pepperman] Lowrie. Leon was a former resident of Angelica and Mt. Morris and enjoyed taking pictures.
He is survived by 2 brothers: his twin Leroy [Gladys] Lowrie of Wellsville and Franklin Lowrie of Florida; a sister Nina Biscaro of Depew as well as a nephew Dale Lowrie of Wellsville.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday September 4 from 1 to 2pm in the J.W. Embser Sons F. H. in Wellsville. A funeral service will follow calling at 2pm in the Funeral Home with Rev. Anna Shirey. Leon will be buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery and memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
Coudersport, PA
LINCOLN E. “Link” BURTON, 86, of 3109 Madison Hill passed away on Tuesday May 25, 2004 at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 27, 1917 in Coudersport, PA the son of David and Dorothy (Owens) Burton. On August 31, 1937 in Richburg he married M. June Atkinson who predeceased him on June 3, 1987.
Link was first employed with the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and later was a crane operator for the L. C. Whitford Company in Wellsville for 44 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 832B, a life member of the Genesee Hose Company # 5 and a 20 year member of the New York Steam Engine Association Inc. He was an avid bowler for the Wellsville Travel Service and enjoyed hunting & fishing. He was a 6:00 am patron of the Texas Hot for over 50 years and was known in the area for his cement work.
He is survived by 2 sons: Richard E. Burton and Robert W. (Patricia) Burton both of Wellsville. A daughter Ruth (Donald) Richmond of Scio, 10 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, a brother; Paul Burton of Hilton and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased, in addition to his wife by a daughter Patricia M. Allen on May 25, 1995, a daughter in law; Jill R. Burton on March 19, 2004, 2 brothers; Frank O. Burton and Lester Burton, 2 sisters: Adelaide White and Esther Raymer.
Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will be Saturday May 29, 2004 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Ralph Eastlack presiding. Burial will be in Stannards Cemetery and the family suggests memorials to the Genesee Hose Company # 5, Home Care & Hospice, and the SPCA Serving Allegany County or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Belmont, NY
Linda L. Creighton, of 39 Willets Avenue, passed away on Thursday January 1, 2004 at Jones Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 29,1945 to Milford “Bud” and Jenevieve Presutti Creighton who predeceased her. Linda was a graduate of Belmont Central High School and worked for Alfred State College for over 30 years as a secretary of various departments retiring in 1998. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and at one time was active in the Allegany County Democratic Party. Linda enjoyed antiquing, gardening, crafts and loved animals.
She is survived by a half brother Richard Creighton of Florida; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
Friend are invited to call on Monday January 5 from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Belmont. A Prayer service will be held on Tuesday January 6 at 10:30am in the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Dennis Mancuso as Celebrant .Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery and memorials may be made to the Allegany County SPCA or to the donor’s choice.

LOIS H. FLEISCHMAN, 78 of 3490 Rauber Hill passed away Thursday, June 17, 2004 at home. She was born on April 12, 1926 in Wellsville, the daughter of Lloyd and Edna (Griggs) Hanchett. On September 21, 1946 in Wellsville she married Richard Fleischman, who predeceased her in 1990.
After high school, Lois was employed by the Sinclair Refinery and later by Rockwell Brothers until retiring in 1980. For many years she was known for cake baking for all occasions.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Wellsville Fireman’s Auxiliary for over 50 years. She was also an active member of the Scio Senior Sunshine Club with which she traveled on several trips.
Lois is survived by a son: John Fleischman of Scio; 2 daughters: Sharon (Jerry) Falletta of Groton, NY; Susan (Ronald) Thomas of Wellsville; 5 grandchildren; a sister: Jean Patrick of Andover; several nieces and nephews; and a loving companion: Robert J. Madden of Wellsville.
She is predeceased by a grandson: Tommy Greene.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Wellsville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 21, 2004 in the funeral home with Rev. Robert Morris presiding. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville. Memorial suggestions include Home Care and Hospice, First Trinity Lutheran Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
