Doran O. Cooper

Doran O. Cooper, 81, formerly 13 Schuyler Street, died on Sunday July 24, 2005 shortly after arrival at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. He was born January 31, 1924 in Rochester, the son of Clarence and Philena (Swain) Cooper. On September 9, 1942 in Geneva he married Millie Vuckovic who predeceased him on February 5, 1980.Doran started his career operated a dairy farm; he later was employed by A. L. Blades & Sons Inc. of Belmont as a truck driver and after moving to Florida he was a self employed contractor. After he retired he moved back to Belmont in 2000 and was a social member of the Herbert DeLong Post 808 American Legion in Belmont. He was currently a resident of Manor Hills in Wellsville. Surviving is 1 son, Bradley (Pam) Cooper of Belmont, 1 daughter, Judy (Pat Lester) Winterhalter of Wellsville, his former wife, Donna (Wolfer) Cooper of Friendship, her children, Donald (Jacquelyn) Winchell of Angelica and Chrissy Boofer of Westfield, NY and their families as well as 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 niece, Betty Lou Taber. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in BELMONT. A memorial service will follow visitation on Wednesday July 27th at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Ron Sellers presiding. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Friendship. Memorial suggestions include the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps or the Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York.
Onalee N. Pakis

Onalee N. Pakis, 81, of 3083 Route 248, went to be with the Lord on Thursday July 28, 2005 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was born January 27, 1924 in Woodhull, the daughter of Leon G. and Flora M. (Gould) Lewis. On July 2, 1949 in Stannards she married Louis J. Pakis, Jr. who predeceased her on November 11, 2002. She was a 1942 graduate of Wellsville High School and was employed by the Eclipse Corp. of Elmira during WW II. She later was an Avon Representative for 25 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Hallsport Christian Church and the Willing Firemen’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading the Bible and devotional books; and was a collector of photographs relating to family history. Onalee is survived by a son, Donald A. Pakis of Wellsville, 1 sister, Georgia M. (Jerry) Sherman of Wellsville and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased in addition to her husband by a brother, Donald Lewis. Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Saturday from Noon to 2:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will follow visitation at 2:00 pm Saturday July 30th in the funeral home, with Rev. Richard Bendelewski presiding. Burial will be in Stannards Cemetery and memorial suggestions include the Hallsport Christian Church or the Willing Volumteer Fire Department.
Ellen Louise Mathers McGinnis

Ellen Louise Mathers McGinnis, age 77, of Whitney Ave, formerly of Wellsville, passed away on Monday August 1, 2005 at home following declining health. She was born June 5, 1928 in Towanda, Pa. to the late Francis Marion and Hila Louise Meredith Mathers. Ellen was a graduate of Wellsville High School, class of 1946. In earlier years she was employed by the former Sinclair Refinery and by the Jones Memorial Hospital both In Wellsville. She was later retired from the Allegany County Personal Department after a number of years service. After her retirement she worked part time for the Allegany County Episcopal Ministry. Ellen enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Survivors include: 3 daughters Ann [Michael] Wyrough of Rochester, Susan McGinnis Brown of Chalfont, PA. and Katherine McGinnis of Chagrin Falls, OH; 2 granddaughters Kelly and Katherine Wyrough. Ellen was predeceased by a brother James Evan Mathers. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service in St. John’s Episcopal Church in Wellsville on Thursday August 4, 2005 at 7 pm. with The Rev. Diane Purcell Chapman. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the SPCA serving Allegany County. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Towanda, PA. and arrangements are under the direction of the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home

Willie Frank Marshall, of 480 Maple City Drive, passed a way on Saturday July 30 in the Wellsville Manor Care Center. He was born on March 31, 1930 in Hartford CT. He was married to Elizabeth Marshall who survives. He was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1948 to 1951.Grave Side services where held in the BathNational Cemetery in Bath, NY. on Wednesday August 3, 2005 at 1 pm with Chaplin Lee from the Bath Veterans Hospital. Burial was in The Bath National Cemetery.
Allyne R. Sentner

Allyne R. Sentner, 67, of 19 Pine Street, passed away on Wednesday August 3, 2005 at Jones Memorial Hospital. She was born March 2, 1938 in Wellsville, the daughter of Audrey Reynolds. On June 15, 1957 in Wellsville, she married Louis A. Sentner who survives. Allyne was a life long resident of Wellsville and was a 1956 graduate of WellsvilleHigh School. She was formerly employed as a switchboard operator for Fleet Bank in Wellsville for 16 years, retiring on November 27, 1992. She was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville.Surviving in addition to her husband “Louie” is 1 son; Dennis C. (Judy) Sentner of Grand Canyon, AZ. Friends are invited to call on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. Karen A. Nye, 64, of 3348 Hallsport Road, died unexpectedly on Sunday August 7, 2005 shortly after arrival at Jones Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 13, 1941 in Wellsville, the daughter of Elmer D. and E. Pauline (Reynolds) Aiken. Karen was a life long resident of Wellsville and a 1960 graduate of Wellsville High School. She was formerly employed as a nurse’s aid in the area, most recently at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was a devoted mother and enjoyed caring for her granddaughter.She is survived by 2 sons; Michael (Suzanne) Nye of Wellsville and Christopher M. Nye of Massena, her mother, E. Pauline Aiken of Wellsville, her granddaughter, Shannon Nye at home, 2 sisters, Janice Rickey of Allegany and R. Kathleen Talbot of Tujunga, CA as well as several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her father Elmer D. Aiken, a daughter, Tracy Lynn Nye in 1971 and a brother, Phillip Aiken in 1988. Timothy Leo Schmelzer

Timothy Leo Schmelzer, 57, of Sandusky, Ohio, passed away Monday, August 8, 2005 at Firelands Regional Medical Center/Stein Hospice Unit in Sandusky following a long illness. He was born September 2, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Edward A. and Dorothy (Strittmather) Schmelzer and was raised in Belmont. He was a graduate of BelmontHigh School and Alfred State College with an A.A.S. degree in Business Administration and Accounting and from the State University of New York at Brockport with a B.S. degree in Economics and Math. He also was a veteran of the US Air Force having served from 1971 to 1975. Timothy was formerly employed at the Allegany Abstract Company in Belmont before moving to Ohio in 1977. In Ohio he worked for the Auditor of the State of Ohio attaining the position of Field Audit Supervisor until 1986 when he was appointed Fiscal Officer for the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, retiring in February of 2004. He was a member of the American Legion, Catholic War Veterans and the Perkins Kiwanis. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Schmelzer of Belmont, brother Terry (Patricia) Schmelzer of Belmont, nephews Blair and Bryan Schmelzer, 3 step-nieces, aunts and uncles Margaret & Albert Strittmather of Belmont and Donna & Leo Strittmather of Vermilion, Ohio, numerous cousins and special friends Rosie and Rudy Manapace. Timothy was predeceased by his father, Edward A. Schmelzer, maternal grandparents, Catherine and Leo Strittmather and paternal grandparents, Marge and Raymond Schmelzer. Virginia “Ginnie” Reuning

Virginia “Ginnie” Reuning, of 97 East Pearl Street, passed away at Jones Memorial Hospital on Sunday August 14, 2005 after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was born February 3, 1927 in Wellsville to Joseph and Josephine Jordan Serio. On August 4, 1948 she married Bruce W. Reuning who survives. Ginnie was a life long resident of Wellsville and graduated from Wellsville High School in 1944. She was a secretary for Worthington Corporation, Bob Fleischer, Donald Hauselt, Gus Rigas and retired from First Trust Union Bank. She was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Church and was past president of the Wellsville Lady Elks. Ginnie was a fun loving and compassionate person who loved her friends and especially her family. Her hobbies include gardening, flowers, crossword puzzles, cooking shows, her coffee group and socializing. Ginnie’s true passion and love was her family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed any opportunity to entertain them, especially at Christmas, and no one left her house on Sunday with out a good meal and sound advice. She will be sadly missed by them and all who knew her. Surviving besides her husband are a son Thomas [Nancy] Reuning of Wellsville: 3 grandchildren Jennifer Reuning of Rochester, Kevin and Kate Reuning of Wellsville and a great granddaughter Angelena : 2 aunts : several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son B. James Reuning.. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville. On Thursday there will be a prayer service at 10:30 am in the Funeral Home followed a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrated at 11 am in the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery and memorials may be made to the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps, American Cancer Society or to the donor’s choice.

Luanne Angela Field, 51, of 131 Rauber Street, passed away on Sunday August 14, 2005 at the home of her daughter in Fort Walton Beach, FL. She was born September 21, 1953 in Olean, the daughter of Frank and Bertha Jeanne (Coats) Ross. Luanne resided most of her life in Scio. She was a 1972 graduate of Wellsville High School and attended BOCES majoring in Food Service and Child Care. She was employed as a private home care provider for most of career and later for Allegany ARC until she retired due to ill health. She is survived by he Mother, Bertha Jones of Wellsville, 4 children, Angela Field, Kimberly Field and Raymond Field all of Wellsville and Pamela Gall of Fort Walton Beach, FL, 4 grandchildren, Renee Field, Joey Lynn Gall, David Rhar and Merideth Field, 1 sister Linda Jones of Wellsville, 1 half sister, Patty Gilleland of Tampa, FL, several nieces & nephews, a special friend, John M. Johnson of Wellsville and her former husband, Dennis Field of Scio. She was predeceased, in addition to her father by her stepfather, Richard C. Jones.
