PULTENEY - Ernest "Ernie" W. Vance, 79, of North Road, entered into rest Saturday (July 20, 2002) at the Ira Davenport Hospital in Bath, following a long illness.
He was born Aug. 18, 1922 in Hornell, a son of the late Henry Maholon and Mary Agueta Petteys Vance. On July 12, 1947, in Rexville, he married Eugenia E. McCormick, who survives.
Mr. Vance lived the early part of his life in the Canisteo area and attended Canisteo Central School. He received his high school diploma through the Veterans Recognition Program, on March 26, 2001. He had served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II and and received a Bronze Star for his valor in service.
He had lived in Pulteney since 1960, where he had served on the Boy Scout Committee. Mr. Vance had worked as a grinder/finisher at Mercury Aircraft in Hammondsport, retiring in 1985.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Eugenia; two sons, Ernest "Bill" (Teena) Vance, Jr., of Sasche, Tex., and Gerald (Cynthia) of Andover; five daughters, Anne (E. David) Bauer of Wayne, Althea (George) Wakefield and Shirley (Robert) Edwards of Avoca, Mary C. Vance of Hornell, and Elizabeth Jackson of Dansville; a brother, Mahlon "Meg" (Marge) Vance of Canisteo; a sister, Betty Harrison of Canisteo; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Vance was precedeased by a brother, Eugene Vance.
The family will receive friends Tuesday (July 23, 2002) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the H. P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, Canisteo, whre there will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday (July 24, 2002) at St. Mary's Church, Rexville. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Rexville.
Memorials may be made to the Pulteney Ambulance Corps, Pulteney, NY 14874 or to the American Lung Association, 1595 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620.

WELLSVILLE - Anthony M. "Tony" Walsh, 64 of 200 E. State St., Wellsville, died Saturday (April 21, 2001) at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
Born Aug. 19, 1936 in Wellsville, he was the son of Cornelius and Theresa Corrigan Walsh.
On Dec. 4, 1954 in Wellsville, he married Constance "Connie" Buckhout, who survives.
Tony was a 1954 graduate of Wellsville High School and was employed as a Test Mechanic for Dresser Rand in Wellsville for 29 years before retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville and a member of the Wellsville Moose Lodge #601.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Dennis (Linda) Walsh of St. George, Ga. and Scott A. Walsh of Camden, Tenn.; one daughter, Caprice "Cappy" Walsh of Erie, Pa.; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Sylvia Walsh of Wellsville; and several nieces and nephews.
The service will be held today at the convenience of the family at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc., of Wellsville. There will be no prior visitation.
Rev. Eugene Ulrich will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, American Heart Association or the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
ULYSSES, Pa. -- Wanda C. Talbett, 74, of Ulysses, Pa. died Monday (March 18, 2002) in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, Pa.
Born Sept. 27, 1927 in Whitesville, she was the daughter of Glen and Marguerite Hall Cornell.
On July 2, 1949 in Genesee, Pa., she married Adolphus M. Talbett, who predeceased her in 1976.
A graduate of Genesee High School and Mansfield State College, she was a teacher in Ulysses for several years.
She was last employed as a houseparent and drug and alcohol counselor in Wellsville.
She was a member of the Ulysses First Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher and Deaconess. She was a Past Matron and 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star #95 in Ulysses.
Surviving are two sons, David (Janet) Talbett of Whitesville and Paul (Nancy) Talbett of Kempner, Texas; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother Clifford Cornell of Norfolk, Va.; and two sisters Sharon Coyle of Wellsville and Sandra Witter of Auburn.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ulysses First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Richard G. Kirk, pastor, officiating. An Eastern Star service will be held at the beginning of the Memorial Service in the church. Burial will be in North Bingham Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Benjamin R. Olney Funeral Home, Ulysses, Pa.
WELLSVILLE -- Mrs. Mona E. Ramsey, 66, of 8 Herman Ave., died Monday (Feb. 25, 2002) at Jones Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born May 14, 1935, in Shinglehouse, Pa., she was the daughter Lawrence and Ona Jandrew Kenyon.
She was formerly employed by Dana Pickup of Wellsville as a bookkeeper and for 23 years was employed by Palmer Aeromotive as a secretary, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Wellsville and a member of the Eastern Star of Belmont.
Survivors include two sons, Roger (Barbara) Ramsey of North Borough, Mass., and Bruce (Ellen) Ramsey of Sea Isle, N.J.; one daughter, Deborah (Ross Seaver) Ramsey of Cuba; two grandchildren, Jacob Seaver and Anjelica Ramsey; three brothers, Ronald (Beverly) Kenyon of Penn Yan, N.Y., Leo Kenyon of Penn Yan, and Jerry (Jean) Kenyon, of Pamplico, S.C.; three aunts, Mrs. Marie (Donald) Moore of Bolivar, Mrs. Marion Benedict of Richburg, and Mrs. Aylene Meacham of Zanesville, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
There will be no public calling hours.
Memorial services will be held in the Schaffner Funeral Home, Inc., Bolivar, on Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Robert Schober, pastor of St. Mary's Church in Bolivar, officiating.
Burial will be in Wells Cemetery, Little Genesee, N.Y.
Memorials are suggested to the Allegany County Office for the Aging or the American Diabetes Association.
WELLSVILLE -- Helen Lana Piscitelli, 91, of 33 Herman Ave., Wellsville, died Saturday (April 20, 2002) at Jones Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
She was born Oct. 10, 1910 in Bradford, Pa., the daughter of Angelina and Joseph Cardamone.
In 1934 she married Glenn "Babe" Piscitelli in Bradford. He predeceased her in 1956.
Helen was formerly employed at Howard's Restaurant in Wellsville, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville and the Women of the Moose.
She is survived by two sons, William Piscitelli and Bob (Barb) Piscitelli, both of Wellsville; five grandchildren, Debbie (Tom) Pinney of Little Genesee, Lisa (Gary) Arnone of Greece, N.Y, Dean (Mary) Piscitelli of Wellsville, Ann Piscitelli of Wellsville and Mark (Kelly) Piscitelli of Wellsville; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mae Lauzze of Wellsville and Josephine Pantuso of Bradford, Pa.; three brothers, Tom, Frank and Dick "Billy" Cardamone, all of Bradford; several nieces and nephews and two special friends, Mary Lou Carey of Cape Coral, Fla. and Sue Harris of Wellsville.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Santulla Fucco, Molly Copper and Jeanette Cardamone all of Bradford; and two brothers, Benny Cardamone of Lock Haven and Tony Cardamone of Bradford.
Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the J.W. Embers Sons Funeral Home Inc., in Wellsville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville.
Father Dennis Wolf, celebrant. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Wellsville.
Memorial suggestions include the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps or the Immaculate Conception School in Wellsville.
