MESA, Ariz. - Edna M. Jones died unexpectedly in her home on Monday, Aug. 21, 2000.

WELLSVILLE - James W. Norris, 74, of 56 Fassett Lane, died Tuesday (Aug. 29, 2000) in the Highland Healthcare Center following a brief illness.

WEST SENECA, N.Y. - Carolyn S. Gunia, 75, of 1840 Center Rd., West Seneca, died Saturday (Nov. 4, 2000) at Buffalo General Hospital.

WELLSVILLE - Steven D. Whitney, 45, of 46 S. Highland Ave., Wellsville, died Saturday (Nov. 4, 2000) in Scio.

BOLIVAR - Edith R. Greene, 80, of 225 N. Main St., died Tuesday (Oct. 17, 2000) in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, following a brief illness.

FILLMORE - Anges Nevinger Higley, 88, of 5934 Botsford Hollow Rd., Fillmore, died Saturday (Nov. 4, 2000) in her home.

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. - Perry D. Kellogg, 81, of Sunnyside Road, died Wednesday (Oct. 25, 2000) in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, Pa., after a long illness.

JANESVILLE, Wis. - David M. Loucks, 50, of Janesville, formerly of Wellsville, passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Mercy Hospital, Janesville.

WELLSVILLE - Julia H. Mead, 82, of 696 Stone Dam Rd., Wellsville, died Tuesday (Oct. 31, 2000) at the Wellsville Manor.

LILLIAN L. SCHNEIDER
FRIENDSHIP - Lillian L. Schneider, 88, of 111Ú2 East Water St., died Tuesday (Oct. 31, 2000) after a lengthy illness.

GERALDINE M. SLOAN
ALLENTOWN - Geraldine M. Sloan, 80, of 6033 Route 417 E. Bolivar, died Friday (Oct. 20, 2000) in Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.

MARY N. COOK
FILLMORE - Mary N. Cook, 85, of North Genesee St., Fillmore, died Saturday (April 7, 2001) at The Waters of Houghton in Houghton.
She was born Dec. 18, 1915 in Springville, the daughter of the late E. Carroll and Mayme (Fuller) Newman.
On Aug. 7, 1937 at Silver Lake, she married Gerald Cook, who died in 1986.
Mrs. Cook was formerly of Sandusky, N.Y., and was a 1933 graduate of Arcade High School.
While in Allegany County, she attended the Hume United Methodist Church.
She was an avid collector of antiques, while also helping her husband on their dairy farm. She also taught piano lessons out of her home in both Sandusky and Fillmore. She also worked the concession stand for the A & A Railroad in Arcade.
Mrs. Cook was also a member, musician and past Nobel Grand of the Genesee Rebekah Lodge #491 in Hume and was a Past Centerville Grange Member.
She is survived by one daughter, Glenda C. Ballard of Houghton; a son-in-law, Fred Ballard of Fillmore; three grandchildren, Jill (Jeffrey) Ritter of Geneva, Jay (Jill) Ballard of Hinsdale and Fred "Josh" (Sherry) Ballard Jr. of Fillmore; one great-grandson, Andrew Ritter.
She was predeceased by her parents and her husband.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the W.S. Davis Inc., Funeral Home, in Arcade. Rev. Beth Kotteman officiating. Burial at Maple Wood Cemetery, Springville, N.Y.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hume United Methodist Church or the Rushford Town Band.

WILLIAM F. DONOVAN
WELLSVILLE - William F. Donovan, 81, of 177 South Main St., Wellsville, died Sunday (April 8, 2001) in the Highland Health Care Center.
Born Sept. 8, 1919 in Wellsville, he was the son of William H. and Olive Rauber Donovan.
On Nov. 15, 1948 in Andover, he was married to Catherine Lynch, who survives.
He was a graduate of Wellsville High School and for more than 60 years was associated with the N. Rauber Co. Furniture and Appliance Store at 32 North Main St.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wellsville.
Surviving besides his wife Catherine, is a daughter Mary (Michael) Rotolo of North Royalton, Ohio; three sons, William (Judy) Donovan of Portville, Charles (Julie) Donovan of Brentwood, Tenn., and Edward Donovan of Wellsville; grandchildren, Gregory Donovan, Patrick Donovan, Kelly Donovan, Kevin Donovan, Catherine Rotolo and Christopher Rotolo; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert N. Donovan.
There will be no visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Rev. Eugene P. Ulrich, celebrant. Burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wellsville.
Memorials may be made to the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Arrangements are by the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home, Wellsville.

PAULA RUFFO
GENESEE, Pa. - Paula Ruffo, 90, of Genesee, Pa., died Monday (April 9, 2001). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Church, Genesee, with Rev. Brian E. Vossler as celebrant. Arrangements are entrusted to the Benjamin R. Olney Funeral Home, Ulysses, Pa.

SARAH F. EMPSON
ULYSSES, Pa. -- Sarah F. Empson, 93, of Ulysses, Pa., died Sunday (August 5, 2001) in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport, Pa.
Born March 22, 1908, in Ulysses Township, Pa., she was the daughter of Charles J. and May Bennett Hilfiger. She was married to Kenneth Pete Empson, who predeceased her in 1980.
Mrs. Empson and her husband owned and operated a dairy and potato farm for many years.
She was a member of the Ulysses First Baptist Church, the Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post #963 Auxiliary, the Tri-Town Volunteer Firemen's Auxiliary, and the Harrison-Ulysses-Genesee Senior Center.
Survivors include three sons, Phillip (Linda) Empson and Joe (Mae) Empson, both of Ulysses, and John Hilfiger of Hammondsport, N.Y.; four daughters, Mrs. Dorr (Edna) Perkins of Ulysses, Mrs. Max (Ann) Hemphill of Sawyer, N.D., Mrs. Marie Cornelius of Whitesville, and Mrs. William (Maxine) Updyke of Genesee, Pa.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Jane A. Empson; and two brothers.
Friends may call Tuesday, August 7, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Benjamin R. Olney Funeral Home in Ulysses, Pa., where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 8, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Paul G. Caram will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Tri-Town Volunteer Ambulance, the Tri-Town Volunteer Fire Company, or the Ulysses Library, Ulysses, Pa., 16948.

JOHN R. GREENE
SCIO -- John R. Greene, 51, of Knights Creek Rd., Scio, died Wednesday (August 8, 2001) in Jones Memorial Hospital.
Born June 12, 1950 in Wellsville, he was the son of Robert D. and Mary Jane Sibble Greene.
He graduated from Wellsville High School and attended Paul Smith College. He had worked at Allegany Bitumens in Belmont and Butler Larkin in Wellsville. He also worked in nursing homes in Rochester and Wellsville.
John loved to hunt, fish, and play his guitar. He also enjoyed his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his parents of Scio; a special friend and long time companion, Debra Johnson and children; three daughters, Jenny Hill of Wellsville, Sarah Greene of Wellsville, and Amber Greene of Arcadia , Fla.; three grandchildren, Abigail, Ashley and Troy; and a brother, Thomas A. (Glenna) Greene and children, Nicole, Shelby and David of Lakeland, Fla.
Friends may call Friday, Aug. 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc., in Wellsville where funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11 at 1 p.m. Rev. David Greene, a cousin to John Greene, will officiate. Burial will be in Knights Creek Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.

ALAN M. CLINE
WELLSVILLE -- Alan M. Cline, 49, of Manor Hills, Wellsville, died Sunday, (Oct. 21, 2001) at Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.
Born Dec. 15, 1951, in Wellsville, he was the son of Earl and Genevieve Costello Cline.
Alan attended Wellsville High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a former assistant manager of McDonald's Restaurant in Fort Worth, Texas. He had also been formerly employed as a bartender and with a roofing contractor in Wellsville.
He was a member of the Alma Rod & Gun Club and a former member of the Coven Motorcycle Club in Wellsville.
Surviving is one son, Bill Bliss; two brothers, Michael and Patrick Cline, both of Wellsville; two sisters, Evelyn "Maria" (Jack) Denning of Andover and Vicky Neasbitt of Burleson, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Justin Davis.
He was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Wilson.
Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc., Wellsville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville. A prayer service will be precede the Mass at 9 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Rev. Joseph Vatter will be the celebrant. Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Wellsville.
Memorials are suggested to the Alma Rod & Gun Club.
