WHITESVILLE -- Velma Westlake, 82, of 652 Main St., Whitesville, died Tuesday (Oct. 23, 2001) at her home.
DOROTHY HANKS HOLLOD
PASADENA, Texas -- Dorothy Hanks Hollod, 87, of 904 Westfall Ave., Pasadena, Texas, died Saturday (Oct. 20, 2001) at Bay Shore Medical Center in Pasadena.
Born April 8, 1914 in Friendship, she was the daughter of Dean and Evelyn Graham Hanks.
On May 23, 1958 in Pasadena, Texas, she married Peter J. Hollod, who died July 13, 1987.
Dorothy was a former resident of Wellsville, moving to Pasadena in 1958.
Surviving are two sisters, Marion Dudley of Bath and Edna Weinman of Wellsville; one brother, Frederick Hanks of Friendship; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family and there will be no prior visitation.
Rev. Joseph Vatter will officiate at the service.
Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Wellsville.
RICHARD MOSHER
ANDOVER -- Richard Mosher, 85, of 1524 State Rte. 417, died Sunday (Oct. 21, 2001) at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, following a long illness.
Born April 13, 1916, in Freeman, N.Y., the son of Coral and Helen House Mosher, he was married in Aug. 1942 in Hornell, to the former Ruth H. Peck, who died in 1996. He was predeceased by three sisters, Marianne, Elsie, and Minnie, and two brothers, Ronald and Gerald.
Richard had resided for over 60 years in Niagara Falls, and most recently in Phelps and Andover.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Niagara Falls and the Niagara Falls Moose Club.
He had many hobbies including bowling, an avid Civil War reader, bingo, and was a member of the Tune Twister's Band of Almond, playing several instruments.
Survivors include a son, Cary (Brenda) Mosher, of Phelps; a sister, Bertha Watkins, of Wellsboro, Pa.; two brothers, Leland Mosher of Andover and Darwin Mosher, of Florida; three grandchildren, Rebekah, Cynthia, and Sheryl; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Robertson Funeral Home, Inc., Hornell, where funeral services will be held directly following calling hours at 8 p.m., with Revs. Regina and Raymond Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Almond.

MARGUERITE E. PIATT
ANGELICA -- Marguerite E. Piatt, 75, of 8 East Main St. passed away Sunday (Oct. 20, 2001) at the Hornell Gardens.
Born April 28, 1926 in Waltham, Mass., she was a daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Campbell Goodreau.
On Oct. 27, 1945, she married Bernard Piatt, who survives.
Marguerite attended the Angelica United Methodist Church, and the Transit Bridge Home Bureau. She was predeceased by four sisters and one brother.
Surviving in addition to her husband Bernard are: five daughters, Cheryle (Mitch) Evans of Almond, Donna (Jon) Ford of Angelica, Debra (Terry) Fowler of San Juan Cap, Calif., Sandra (Chris) Dibble of Whitesville, and Kimberly (Dean) Gallmann of Angelica; two sons, Bernard James (Rosa) Piatt of Bolivar and Douglas Paul (Peggy) Piatt of Louisville, Ky.; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
The family will be present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday to receive friends at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Ave., Angelica. A private memorial service will be held Saturday with Rev. David Olcott officiating.

MRS. MARIE V. PERRONE
WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Marie V. Perrone, 90, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., formerly of Bolivar, died Dec. 7, 2001 at home.
She was born July 15, 1911, in Ridgway, Pa., the daughter of Frank and Rose Roselli Angello.
On June 29, 1935, she married Anthony P. Perrone in Ridgway, Pa.
She attended Ridgway High School in Pennsylvania, and studied music at Columbia University.
She was employed as a secretary for the Dutchess County Social Services Department, where she worked for 22 years. She retired in 1973.
She was a member of the a senior citizens group in Wappingers Falls, St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls, and also gave private piano lessons at her home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Philip A. Perrone of Mesh, Ariz., and daughter-in-law Lucille Perrone; one brother, Anthony Angello of Ridgway, Pa. and sister-in-law Eileen Angello; two grandchildren; niece Sondra Herring of Poughkeepsie, N.Y, and nephew-in-law George Herring; and several other nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held Monday at the Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, N.Y.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at the St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls.

PENN YAN, N.Y. -- Chase E. Creedon, 6, of 323 Keuka St., Penn Yan, died Friday (Feb. 1, 2002) at the Hershey Medical Center.
Born Sept. 26, 1995 in Buffalo, he was the son of Matthew J. and Denise Hann Creedon.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother and best friend, Asa; grandparents, James L. Creedon of Melbourne, Fla., Margaret Hann of Gowanda and Francis Hann of Wellsville; great-grandmother, Irene Hann of Wellsville; God parents, Monica and Ken Marsh of Penn Yan; aunts, uncles, cousins and all his friends at St. Michael's School.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, East Elm St., Penn Yan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Church with burial at St. Michael's Cemetery.

JOSEPH "JOE" GIELOW
BELFAST -- Joseph "Joe" Gielow, 75, died Saturday (Feb. 2, 2002) after an extended illness.
He was a member of the Iron Workers Union.
Survivors include his devoted and loving wife, Joyce Gielow; children, Tedde (Randy) Swarthout, Joseph Gielow, Jr., Timothy Gielow, Kirk Gielow, Becky Gielow, Mark Gielow, Richard (Roxanne) Fuller, Peter (Sue) Fuller, Lewis (Leslie) Fuller, Susan (Allen) Corbett, John Muckle and James (Rebecca) Relyea; 24 grandchildren; a brother, Elmer (Katherine) Gielow; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are private.

HOPE HULSE
ANDOVER -- Hope Hulse, 86, of 16 East Ave., died Saturday (Feb. 2, 2002) at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.
She was born Oct. 30, 1915 in West Union, N.Y., the daughter of Leon and Hope Ward Horton.
She was married to Willard Hulse, who predeceased her in 1976.
Hope attended Wellsville High School and had lived most of her life in Greenwood.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Andover Blessed Sacrament Church, the West Greenwood Grange, St. Mary's Altar & Rosary Society of Rexville, the Andover Senior Citizens and Greenwood Senior Citizens.
She is survived by three sons, Howard (Patricia) Hulse of Greenwood, Burdette (Patsy) Hulse of Greenwood and Leo (Patricia) Hulse of Hornell; a daughter, Barbara (Calvin) Graves of Wellsville; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a sister, Mary (Roy) Krenzer of Olean.
There will be no prior calling hours. Friends are invited to attend a memorial funeral mass at the Andover Blessed Sacrament Church on Wednesday, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gene Ulrich of St. Brendan's Church of Almond officiating.
Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Andover.

HARRY R. LEON
ANDOVER -- Harry R. Leon, 82, of 1969 County Road 22, died Sunday (Feb. 3, 2002) in Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport, Pa., after a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Oswayo, Pa., the son of Frank and Mildred Preece Leon.
On June 22, 1947, in Wellsville, he was married to Eleanor Eames, who survives him.
He had resided in the Independence area for the past 55 years and had been a member of the Andover F&AM Lodge 558 for over 50 years.
He was a self-employed truck driver, mechanic and was the operator of Leon Enterprises, dealing with hay and Christmas trees.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Linda (Thomas) Ensman of Honeoye, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Kali Ensman of Honeoye; a brother, Earl (Mary Ann) Leon of Mt. Dora, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Edwin Leon.
Friends may call at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville on Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at which time services will be held. Rev. Lee Williams of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, in Wellsville.

PERRY -- Jane C. Mosher, 55, of Lake Street, Perry, died Saturday (Feb. 2, 2002) at ECMC in Buffalo after a short illness.
Born Jan. 3, 1947, in Lackawanna, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Irene LeBar Cavanaugh.
Jane was a licensed daycare provider at her home for the last 27 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perry.
She is survived by her husband, David Mosher; a step-daughter, Gina Morgan of Avoca; step-sons, David Mosher of Hornell and Michael Mosher of Campbell; her twin sister, Jean Cavanaugh of Wellsville; brothers- and sisters-in-law Sheila and Harvey Jaggard of Perry, Art and Alice Mosher of Hornell and Mark Mosher of Hornell; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at the First United Methodist Church, 35 Covington St., Perry.
