Betty Lou Swan, 65, of 3103 N. Main St., Ext., died at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 5, 1999) in WCA Hospital. She was the widow of Gene N. Swan Sr. who died May 29, 1985, and was owner and operator of Swan Painting for many years. Arrangement will be announced by the Lind Funeral Home, Inc.
Esther Emelia Johnson
YOUNGSVILLE — Esther Emelia Johnson, 90, died at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 11, 2000) in the Rouse Home.She was born Aug. 14, 1909, in Ridgway, Pa., the daughter of John and Hanna Abrahamson Johnson.A Warren area resident most of her life, she was a 1928 graduate of Ridgway Centennial High School and for 10 years was employed as a secretary/stenographer for Hyde-Murphy Co. She was a former member of the Evangelical Congregation Church in Ridgway. Surviving are one nephew and five nieces, including Dorothy Rieder of Warren. She was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. No visitation or funeral service will be held. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home.
Frank P. Zemnick Sr.
FREWSBURG - Frank P. Zemnick Sr., 76, of 188 Oak Hill Road, died Tuesday (Oct. 5, 1999) in WCA Hospital. A resident of the Oak Hill address for 75 years, he was born May 14, 1923, in Ludlow, the son of Joseph and Mary Zemnick. Prior to retirement in May 1985, he was employed by Carborundum Co. for 32 years. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Samuel Derby Post 556 American Legion Frewsburg and the Carroll Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and golfer and also enjoyed fishing. Surviving are two sons: Frank P. Zemnick Jr. of Frewsburg and Steven Gorton of Ashville; three grandchildren: Amy Zemnick of Frewsburg, Craig and Cameron Smith, both in the U.S. Navy; and several step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel McCormick Zemnick; and one brother, John Zemnick. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. Msgr. Joseph Dowdell, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakewood, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Frewsburg Volunteer Fire Department.

WEST DEER, Pa. — Larry L. Halfast, 54, died Monday (Jan. 10, 2000) in UPMC-Passavant Hospital, McCandless, Pa. He was born Aug. 20, 1945, in Warren, the son of Pauline Halfast and the late Lonnie Halfast. He was employed as a carrier for the Tribune-Review.Surviving are his wife, Connie Hicks Halfast; two sons: Todd and Curtis Halfast, both of West Deer; a daughter, Kimberly Kraus of Irwin; one granddaughter; his mother of Youngsville; two sisters: Judith Young of Lakeawood, Nancy Frick of Jacksonville; and a brother, Charles Halfast of Sarasota, Fla.The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Neely Funeral Home in Glenshaw, Pa. The Rev. Blair W. Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in Allegheny County Memorial Park, McCandless. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Otto K. Lynch
WARREN — Otto K. Lynch, 82, of Warren Manor, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday (Jan 12, 2000). He was born Jan. 9, 1918, in New Castle, Pa., the son of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Miller Lynch. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II in Guam as a sergeant. He was a supervisor with the former Pennsylvania Furnace and Iron Work for 30 years, retiring in 1980, and a former member of the Warren Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are two daughter: Charlene Sirianni of Russell and Paula Gates of Scandia, Pa.; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and a sister, Lucille Dudoic of New Castle, Pa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret C. Kemmer Lynch, whom he married in 1940 and who died Aug. 3, 1986.The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. The Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain of the Warren General Hospital, will officiate. Burial will be in the Mausoleum of the Resurrection in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

SHERMAN — Joseph Baczynski, 83, formerly of Route 430, Sherman Mayville Road, died at noon Wednesday (Jan. 12, 2000) in the Westfield Health Care Center.He was born Oct. 5, 1916, in Erie.He was a member of the St. Isaac Jogues Roman Catholic Church in Sherman. He worked on several area farms and also had worked at different job through out the village of Sherman. In later years he worked at Andriaccio’s Restaurant at Chautauqua and was a part of the Andriaccio’s family, they were his caregivers.Surviving are a brother-in-law, Ray Larson Jr. of Rochester; a nephew, Richard Larson of Barre, Vt.; two nieces: Patricia Paterniti of Amherst and Tammy Sherman of Shelby, N.C.He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Larson Baczynski, who died Dec. 16, 1992.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Isaac Jogues Roman Catholic Church in Sherman. CORRY — M. Jean Carlson, 80, of 23 E. Congress St., died Monday (Jan. 10, 2000) in Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie.She was born May 16, 1919, in Warren, the daughter of the Rev. J. Jesse and Ila Bailey Knapp.A 1937 graduate of Warren High School, she attended Edinboro Normal School. Active in community and church activities, she was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, its Friendship Aide and Rehobeth Sunday School Class.She enjoyed the outdoors, cooking and spending time with her family.Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Harold Carlson, whom she married June 17, 1939, in Elgin, Pa.; a daughter, Anita Stippich of Erie; three sons: David Carlson of Alabama, Jonathan Carlson of Warren and Thomas Carlson of Nebraska; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, D.J. STOCKTON — Michael J. Richardson, 38, of 5224 Route 310, died Wednesday (Jan. 12, 2000) in his home following a short illness.He was born Dec. 4, 1961, in Buffalo, the son of Roy A. and Margaret J. Conners Richardson.He was employed by the town of Stockton Highway Department. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Wm. L. Travis Post 694, Mayville and Cassadaga Lake Golf Club.He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. He was a devoted family man.Surviving are his wife, Laurie Hart Richardson, whom he married June 27, 1998, in the Hurlbut Memorial Community Church, Chautauqua; two daughters: Brooke R. Richardson of Mayville and Mindy S. Swanson of Panama; three sons: Tyler M. Richardson of Mayville, Steven M. and Richard G. Swanson, both of Panama; his mother, Margaret Pentasuglio of Eden, N.Y.; his stepfather, Joe Pentasuglio of Eden; his father, Roy A. Richardson of Mayville; his stepmother, Sue Richardson of Mayville, a sister, Tracy Richardson Peacock of Hamburg, a stepbrother, Joseph Pentasuglio of Charlotte, N.C.; and a stepsister, Sarah Morrison of Sherman.He was preceded in death by a stepbrother, David M. Pentasuglio.The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. The Rev.
