Geneve L. Lee, 88, of Heritage Park Health Care Center, formerly of 71 Camp St., died at 8:34 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 11, 2000) in WCA Hospital. A Jamestown native, she was born Dec. 24, 1911, the daughter of David and Victoria Anderson Starleave. She was a Jamestown High School graduate and had been employed by the former G.C. Murphy Co., the former Jamestown Worsted Mills and the former Cornell and Reins. Surviving are a son, Raymond Lee of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Linda Dupler of West Ellicott; four grandchildren: David Lee of Virginia Beach, Allison, Andrew and Ashley Dupler of West Ellicott; and two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. "Eddie" Lee, whom she married June 19, 1936, and who died April 4, 1984. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. No visitation will be observed. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or a charity of choice. Arrangements are by the Lind Funeral Home.
Leroy Edwin Klakamp
RUSSELL — Leroy Edwin Klakamp, 64, of RD 2, died Wednesday (Jan. 12, 2000) in the Warren General Hospital. He was born June 26, 1935, in Warren, the son of the late Frank and Bessie Stoddard Klakamp. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He was employed by Sylvania and later owned and operated Roy’s Humdinger and Laundromat and managed the concession stands at Stateline & Eriez Speedways. He also owned and operated Roy’s Texas Lunch and the Kozy Kleaning. He was a member of the Elks Club 223 and the Antique Automotive Club of America. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Ann Klakamp, whom he married June 7, 1954, in the First Church of the Nazarene, Warren; a son, Scott Klakamp of San Francisco; a daughter, Rebecca Hanson of Russell; a brother, Robert Klakamp of Spring Creek, Pa.; a sister, Marie Hartley; and two grandchildren.He was preceded in death by two brothers: Henry Klakamp and Kenneth Klakamp; two sisters: Bernice Reigard and Almeda Litchenberger; and two stepbrothers: Oras and Harold Pratt. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., East Warren, Pa. The Rev. Marcus Briggs, Warren General Hospital Chaplain, will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell.Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Hazel J. Anderson, 90, of Lutheran Social Services A2, formerly of 28 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood, died at 4:04 p.m. Monday (Jan. 10, 2000). She was preceded in death by a brother, Emmett C.K. Eckman, in 1990. Arrangements are by Lind Funeral Home.
William Booth
WESTFIELD — William Booth, 72, of Cass Street, died Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2000) in his home.He was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Pittsburgh, the son of the Adalaide Lanz Booth and the late William Booth Sr. He was employed by WQED-TV in Pittsburgh as a cameraman. The son of a prominent Pittsburgh attorney, he was schooled in Pittsburgh and attended Yale University. He moved to Chautauqua Institution in 1980 and made his home there. He was an avid reader and enjoyed the TV show Jeopardy. He enjoyed jazz music and was a regular at the Chautauqua Amphitheater until his health failed. His passion was golf, in which he excelled, as was evident by his many plaques and trophies. Surviving are his mother of Pittsburgh; and a sister, Cynthia Jennings of Key Largo, Fla. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today in the Home Wood Cemetery, Pittsburgh. Family members will officiate.No visitation will be observed. John R. Gilligan
GREENHURST — John R. Gilligan, 91, of 3816 North St., died at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2000) in WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born Dec. 24, 1908, in Jamestown, the son of Joseph and Lavinia Norton Gilligan. He attended schools in Jamestown. Earlier he had been employed as a carpenter with various construction companies in the area and for 10 years at the former Watson Manufacturing. He retired in 1974. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid sportsman who enjoyed big-game hunting. Surviving are a son, Richard "John" Gilligan of Greenhurst; two daughters: Sue Blair of Greenhurst and Sally Lyons of Jamestown; five grandchildren: Denise Balog of Holiday, Fla., Gary L. Fellows Jr. of Brooklyn, Jill L. Riggle, Joy L. Lyon and John Lyon, all of Jamestown; and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Julie Cullen and Mary Dahlbeck; his stepfather, Leon Simmons; and a stepbrother, Sheldon Simmons. A private memorial service will be held Saturday at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Dr. Edward Lindsey, pastor of the Levant Wesleyan Church, will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Fluvanna Cemetery. No visitation will be observed. Memorials may be made to the Fluvanna Fire Department.
Arthur LeGrande Chambers
MAYVILLE — Arthur LeGrande Chambers, 85, of 29 Evans St., died Thursday (Jan. 27, 2000) in his home. He was born April 28, 1914, in Buffalo, the son of Arthur L. and Isabelle McMahon Chambers. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S Air Force from 1941 to 1945, and worked for the Office of the Aging as coordinator for the ombudsman program. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville, William L. Travis American Legion Post 493 and the Lake Chautauqua Memorial Post 8647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a volunteer at Westfield Hospital and Hospice Chautauqua County.Surviving are eight daughters: Patricia Kalish of Sunnyvale, Calif., Judith Chambers of Portland, Ore., Jane Chambers of Mayville, Anne Chambers of Cincinnati, Molly Offermann of San Francisco, Sarah Chambers of Orchard Park, Bridget Sukys of Euclid, Ohio, and Melissa Wymer of University Heights, Ohio; four sons: A. Andrew Chambers of North Palm Beach, Fla., William Chambers of Westfield, Robert Chambers of Northampton, Mass., and Charles Chambers of Buffalo; 24 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Harriette Chambers. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mayville. Sebastiana Canciglia
SAN SALVATORE de FETALE, Sicily — Word has been received of the death of Sebastiana Triscari Canciglia, 87, who died Saturday (Jan. 22, 2000). A lifelong resident of Sicily, she was the daughter of Giovanni and Sara Iuculano Triscari.Surviving are six children; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Joseph Triscari of Jamestown and Giovanni Triscari of Tortorici, Sicily. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calogero Canciglia, in November 1991; three sisters; and a brother, Sebastiano Triscari, in August 1957. The funeral and burial were held in Sicily on Jan. 24.
Theodore Alton Russell
GREAT VALLEY — Theodore Alton "TA" Russell, 94, of Klawitter Road, died Thursday (Jan. 27, 2000) in Olean General Hospital. He was born Feb. 27, 1905, in Kennedy, the son of Frank and Mabel Risley Russell. He was a senior research physicist with Eastman Kodak for 33 years and had many patents to his credit. He attended Great Valley Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Vada Pierce, whom he married Sept 8, 1990; a daughter, Joanne Reid of Great Valley; a son, Bruce Russell of Allison Park, Pa; a stepdaughter, Ramona Bickell of Ellicottville; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Meredith Dadswell, whom he married May 9, 1936, and who died in January 1977; and two brothers: Clifford and Marion Russell. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Great Valley Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Great Valley Baptist Church or the Ellicottville-Great Valley Ambulance Service.
