BETTY ANN MORRIS
NUNDA - Betty Ann Morris, 69, died Friday (Aug. 29, 2003).
She was born Dec. 6, 1933, in the Town of Mt. Morris, to Robert and Mabel Petrie Love.
She was a Nunda Village Board Trustee and Mayor. She was a Keshequa School District Treasurer, and also a member of the Oakwood Cemetery Board.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, of Nunda; two daughters, Janice Ann Morris-Pirrello of Nunda and Monica Jayne Morris (Edward Quackenbush) of Nunda; son, Randall R. Morris of Geneseo; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Courtney, Andrew, Evan and Olivia; two sisters, Joan (Lyle) Orton of Nunda and Nancy (Sidney) Mann of Nunda; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Church of Nunda. Rev. Masaki Chiba and Rev. Michael Poore will be officiating.
Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Nunda Ambulance.
ALEKOS I. "ALEX" SPYRALATOS
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Alekos I. "Alex" Spyralatos, 69, of Tilghman Estates, died at home, on Monday (Aug. 25, 2003).
He was born Nov. 20, 1933, in Greece, a son of the late Ionnis and Ionna Raptis Spyralatos.
He emigrated to the United States in 1955 from Greece and worked at the Texas Hot Restaurant in Wellsville, before moving to Alfred in 1965, where he owned Alex's Restaurant and other businesses over the years. He went to Myrtle Beach from Alfred in 1986 and in 1988 bought Garden City Pancake House. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, Ahepa in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and the Masonic Lodge in Alfred.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Angiliki Grivas Spyralatos; a son, John Spyralatos and his wife, Salome, of Greece; a daughter, Penelope Vlandis and her husband, William, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three brothers, Constantine Spyralatos and Dimitrios Spyralatos, both of Greece, and Vasilios Spyralatos of Chicago; two sisters, Thekla Trakosis of New Jersey and Vasiliki Bambalos of Australia; and nine grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Thursday at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Burial was held in Southeastern Memorial Gardens in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

MARILYNN J. STAPLES
WESTFIELD, Pa. - Marilynn J. Staples, 82, of North Fork Road, Westfield, Pa., passed away Monday (Sept. 1, 2003) at the Green Home, Wellsboro, Pa.
She was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Westfield, Pa., the daughter of Lynn and Daisey Persing Woodcock.
She was a homemaker; attended the Jemison Valley Church; was an avid teddy bear collector; and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, as well as growing flowers and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; sisters, Madaline Gilbert, Westfield, Pa.; Pauline Lyon, Pine City; niece, Melody (Tim) LaChiusa, Hornell; nephew, Bill (Connie) Plummer, RD Westfield, Pa.; numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra, in 2002.
Friends are invited to call at the Kenyon Funeral Home, 222 W. Main St., Westfield, Pa., Thursday 12-2 p.m., where funeral services will be held following calling hours at 2 p.m., with Rev. Donald Johns officiating. Burial will be in Sabinsville Cemetery, Sabinsville, Pa.
SALLY D. JEROME
HARTSVILLE - Sally D. Jerome, 65, of Purdy Creek Road, Hornell, entered into rest Wednesday (Sept. 3, 2003) at the St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell.
She was born in Bath on April 3, 1938, a daughter of Joseph and Gladys (Woodhouse) Spallina. On Feb. 10, 1984, in Macedon, Sally married Norman C. Jerome, her loving husband.
Sally had lived in the Rochester area for several years and had worked as a bus driver for BOCES #1. She had resided in Florida for 11 years before moving to Purdy Creek Road.
Survivors include her husband, Norman C. Jerome; her sons, Sam S. (Tonya) Santillo Jr. of Ocala, Fla., and Anthony J. Santillo of Chicopee, Mass.; her daughter, Joanne M. (Paul) Brock of Penfield; stepdaughters, Debra (Mark) Alderson of Hampton, Va., and Donna Schumacher of Webster; brother, Joseph (Darlene) Spallina and sister, Diane Spallina (Al Schmitz), all of Rochester; uncles, Fred (Martha) Woodhouse of Florida, and Jack and Anthony Spallina, both of Rochester; aunts, Phyllis (Shirley) Russell of Hornell and Maurita Woodhouse of Canisteo; 10 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Canisteo. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Greenwood Street, Canisteo.

GORDON G. SCOTT
CANISTEO - Gordon G. Scott, 90, entered into rest on Wednesday (Sept. 3, 2003) at his home on Fairview Place, after a long illness. He was able to remain in his home for the past several years due to the help of several compassionate and competent caregivers.
HAROLD E. JOHNSON
CLEARWATER - Harold E. Johnson, 78, of Clearwater, died Wednesday (July 23, 2003) at Sylvan Health Center.
He was born in Canisteo and moved to Clearwater in 1966 from Wellsville.
He worked for Honeywell and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Protestant and a member of Turner Brandon American Legion Post 7, Clearwater, the Honeywell Retirees Club and the Minnrigs of Honeywell.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Marion; a daughter, Joan Bianco, Clearwater; a son, David, Westminster, Colo.; two brothers, Richard and Clair, both of Dansville; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were through the Rhodes Funeral Directors, Belcher Chapel, Clearwater.
JEANNINE A. FAULKNER
RICHBURG - Jeannine A. Faulkner, 70, of Richardson Avenue and a former Paradise Lake resident, died Friday (Sept. 5, 2003) in the Wellsville Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 21, 1932 in Angelica, she was the daughter of Victor and Marie (Hoffman) Brundage.
She graduated from Wilsonian High School in Angelica. She was a former employee of AVX Corp in Olean, Macler Industries in Friendship, and managed the Paradise Lake campgrounds.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Vicki (Fred) Dearborn of Bolivar, Mrs. Dickee (Ed) Pastor of Cuba, Mrs. Darlene (Mike) Learn of Bolivar, Mrs. Kathy (Dan) Matacle of Wellsville, and Mrs. Jeanie (Ray) Maedl of Cuba; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Stan "Red" (Clasa) Brundage of Angelica; and one aunt, Beaulah VanDuzer of Binghamton.
Friends may call at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc. in Bolivar on Monday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Allen of the Richburg 1st Day Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship.

JOYCE FARWELL NICHOLSON "NEWMAH"
CUBA - Joyce F. Nicholson, 72, of #27 Maple St., passed away Thursday (Sept. 4, 2003) in Olean General Hospital from an illness.
Born Oct. 28, 1930 in Wellsville, she was the daughter of E. Miner and Enid (Snyder) Farwell. On Sept. 30, 1950 in St. Philips Church in Belmont, she married Thomas S. Nicholson, who survives.
Mrs. Nicholson was a 1948 graduate of Belmont High School. She was a secretary for both the Wellsville School System and the Allegany County Extension Service. After her husband's discharge from the U.S. Army they moved into the Loveridge Funeral Home in Cuba where he started his career in funeral service. In 1958, they purchased the funeral home, and in 1974 it became the Nicholson Funeral Home and they continued to operate it until his retirement in 1991.
Mrs. Nicholson was a member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Olean, where she was formerly active in attending to the nursery age children. She also formerly attended the Saturday morning services at the Christ Episcopal Chapel in Belfast, where she was active in the Lady's Guild and fund raising for several years.
Until her health began to fail, Mrs. Nicholson was a very active volunteer in the community. She was awarded the Community Service Award by the Cuba Chamber of Commerce in 1982. She was a former member of the D.A.R., the Cuba Historical Society, PTA, was a fundraising chairperson for the Community Chest, a member and past president and fundraising chairperson for the Cuba Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the annual musical productions. Mrs. Nicholson will be remembered for the small floral arrangements she made at home and took to the residents at the Cuba Memorial Hospital.
Surviving Mrs. Nicholson besides her husband, are three daughters, Pamela J. Nicholson of Machias, Anne N. (Gerald) Wight of Cuba, and Sally N. (Stephen) Reis of Richardson, Texas; six grandsons; three granddaughters; two sisters, Jeannie Healy of Belmont and Judith Farwell of Belmont; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in The Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean today from 3-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. T. James Snodgrass, Rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Cuba Cemetery, Cuba.

LEO L. "MICKEY" PECK
N. COHOCTON - Leo L. "Mickey" Peck, 67, passed away Wednesday (Sept. 3, 2003) at his home, after a long illness.
Mickey was born Oct. 29, 1935, in Naples, a son of Leon and Charlotte (Blencowe) Peck. He was a 1953 graduate of Naples Central School. He was self employed most of his life as a contractor. He married the former Brenda Button on Nov. 13, 1993, in Naples, she survives.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Nelson and Clifford Peck; and a sister, Leah Peck.
Mickey enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening; he also loved to watch football and TV Westerns.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; daughter, Kayla Peck; stepson, Matthew Whittaker; sons, Tim Peck and Randy Peck; daughter, Cheryl Barnett; sisters, Grace (Rod) Stone and Fannie Wright; sisters-in-law, Jeannie Peck and Madeline Smith; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral Home, 100 E. Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday.
Burial will be in Clearview Cemetery, N. Cohocton.

REVA R. SIMONS
BELVIDERE - Reva R. Simons, 77, of 5674 Trianna Rd., died Saturday (Sept. 6, 2003) at her home, following a lengthy illness.
Born May 19, 1926 in Friendship, she was the daughter of Orville E. and Lucy E. (Whitwood) Warner. On May 19, 1946 in Friendship, she married Glenn E. Simons, who survives.
Mrs. Simons had resided most of her life in Belvidere and was a graduate of Friendship Central School, class of 1945. She had been a waitress and cook at the E and D. Restaurant in Cuba for several years and in the early 1970's she was employed at Criss Market in Belmont for several years. For many years she cleaned houses for various families in the area.
Reva enjoyed crocheting, camping, fishing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wellsville and during W.W.II she was active in the Red Cross. Also, she was an Allegany Co. Foster Parent, taking in several foster children.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Garold E. (Jayne) Murray of Scio and William G. (Wilma) Simons of Friendship; a daughter, Sharee A. Budinger of Friendship; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; three brothers, Orville "Tom" (Helen) Warner of Georgetown, Del., Richard "Dick" Warner of Friendship, and Fred (Molly) Warner of Belmont; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Warner; a sister, Dora Dalton; and a grandson, Jason William Simons.
Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home in Friendship from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Robert Morris, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Wellsville officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Friendship.
