Thomas G. "Tom" Bodnovich Sr., 69 years of Watson Creek Road, died Saturday, December 11, 2004 at his home.
He was born September 19, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Thomas K, and Ann Lucille Bodnovich. He was a graduate of the Cleveland School System and the University of Toledo, OH.
Tom was a well known Pharmacist of 42 years working in the Cleveland area in earlier years and locally in the Wayland, Hornell, and Painted Post areas.
Tom and Mary E. DeWane were married in Lindley, NY.
He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville, PA, a member of the Planning Board for the Town of Lindley, Past President of the Lawrenceville, PA Lions Club. Tom enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also served as Santa for several years with the Lions Club. Tom had a gift of laughter which he shared with all those who knew him.
Survivors his wife; Mary, sons; Thomas G. Bodnovich Jr of Newport, RI, William (Heidi) Bodnovich of Chesapeake, VA, daughters; Carrie Bodnovich of Virginia Beach, VA, and Larisa (Omar) Vikin of Simi Valley, CA. Stepchildren; Jesse DeWane, Jeremiah DeWane both of New Platz, NY, Tia Williams, and Othello Doering both of Miami, FL, and brother; William (Rose) Bodnovich of Middleburg Heights, OH. Grandchildren; Adam, Heather, Brandon, William, and Hannah Bodnovich, and Mitchell Vikin. Also several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his brother Dennis Bodnovich.

Katherine M Giles, 85 years, loving wife & mother, of Painted Post, NY died Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
She was born October 5, 1919 in Hornell, NY, the daughter of the late John and Mary Mazur Bay, and was a graduate of Almond High School.
Katherine and Richard Horton Giles were married November 17, 1945 At St. Annes Church in Hornell, and recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
She was a member of All Saint’s Parish, attending St. Vincent de Paul Church, and a past member of the Daughters of Mary.
Katherine was an inspiration to her husband and son, and loved to bake for friends and family. She loved to travel, and was devoted to her love of God and the rosary.
She is survived by her husband Richard, and son; Robert Giles of Rochester, NY. Two brothers; Peter (Sally) Bey of Hornell, NY and Joseph Bay of Painted Post, NY, sister; Olga (Raymond) Brutsman of Andover, NY, sisters-in-law; Helen Bay of Rochester, NY and Catherine (Jerome) Fish of Tioga, PA, also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother Michael Bay and sister Anna Puvel.

Andrew Chudanic

Andrew Chudanic, 88 years died Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at his home at 88 Norman Street.
He was born November 20, 1916 in Pcoline, Czechoslovakia, the son of the late Andrew Sr. and Zuzanna Dranichak Chudanic and received his education in Czechoslovakia and the United States.He came to Binghamton, NY in 1931 and relocated to Corning, NY in 1932.
Andrew and Anna Demyan were married February 11, 1939 in St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Corning, NY.
He was employed with Corning Incorporated as a machinist, retiring Nov. 1979, with 43 years active service, and a member of the UFGW Union Local 1000.
He was a life long member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church of Corning, serving as a cantor and trustee.He was honored for his lifetime of faith and service to his church and community.He gave a lifetime of furthering the gospel of Jesus Christ by being installed in the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle by His Ruling Hierarch, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas.
Andrew was extremely devoted to his wife and family and received great pride from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His talents were his efforts in gardening and yard work; he was a sports enthusiast and a “Yankee” fan, he enjoyed dancing the polka and reading was his relaxation.
Surviving his devoted wife of 65 years, Anna, Daughter; Barbara (Ted) Worobey of Endwell, NY, Son; Andrew C. Chudanic of Corning, NY.Grandchildren; Andrea Worobey of Endicott, NY and Christopher (Cathy) Worobey of Vestal, NY.Great Grandchildren; Jordan, Ryan and Kaitlyn Worobey.Special Brother-in-law; William Griffin of Corning, NY and Sister-in-law; Suzanna Malnic of Columbia, SC.Also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Earl J. (Jim) Morrell, loving husband, father and grandfather, 67 years, formerly of East Corning, NY and Inverness, FL, died at his son’s home in Mendon, NY Saturday October 30, 2004.
He was born in Limestone, ME, March 2, 1937, the son of the late Louis and Flora Rice Morrell.He received his education from Avoca High School and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. (1954-57).
Jim and Frances Jones were married October 8, 1961 in Rochester, NY. She predeceased him on May 21, 1989.
He was employed with Dresser Rand, Painted Post, NY(in the Foundry), retiring in 1999 with 42 years with the company. Jim was past vice president of IUE Local 313.
During his residency in the Corning area he was a member of the East Corning Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving his sons; Kenneth L. Morrelland Arthur J. (Alisha) Morrell and granddaughter, Carrissa F. Morrell and grandson, Kenneth J. Morrell, all of Mendon, NY. Three sisters, Rebecca (Gilbert) Webber of Addison, NY, Gladys (Wesley) Shaw and Barbara (Paul) Neal all of Inverness, FL. Sister in law, Shelly (Larry) Bishop of Farmington, NY. Also several nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by brother; Arthur L. Morrell and sister; Jodine Jennings.

Marie O. Murray, loving mother, doting grandmother, 83 years, formerly of Addison and Elkland, died Friday, October 29, 2004 at the Waters of Three Rivers.
She was born April 21, 1921 in Corning, NY.A lifetime resident of the area, she was a graduate of Corning Northside High School.
Marie and Thomas E. Murray were married, he predeceased her in 1979.
She truly loved the outdoors and the area which she lived.Marie was employed with the Continental Telephone System of PA as the manager of the Elkland Branch, retiring in 1981 with 30 years service.
Surviving her son and daughter in law; Tom and Sandy Murray of Painted Post, NY.Granddaughter; Melissa (Chuck) Saunders of Painted Post, NY, Great Grandson; Tanner Saunders.Sister; Lillian Dodge of Horseheads, NY also several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by Grandson; Jamie Murray, two sisters; Erma Maio and June Taylor.

Margaret Bryington
Margaret E. Bryington, 80 years, died Friday evening, October 29, 2004 at her daughter and son-in-law’s home, 3378 State Rt. 414, Corning, NY.
She was born September 10, 1924 in Canton, PA, the daughter of the late Walter and Edith Nelson Stone.She received her education in the Pennsylvania School System.Margaret and William H. Bryington were married in Pennsylvania and relocated to the Corning are in 1946.He predeceased her November 29, 1983.
She truly loved her family, especially all her grandchildren.Margaret loved to bake and cook and share these talents with family and friends.Crossword puzzles and reading were her relaxing interest and her special hobby was the collection of ceramic hummingbirds.

Elizabeth "Penny" Rochester

Elizabeth Jean “Penny” McCallum Rochester, 91 years, formerly of Delevan Ave, Corning, NY, died Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at the Waters of Three Rivers.
She was born June 16, 1913 in Florence, CO, daughter of the late Jean and Sophie L. Page McCallum.
Mrs. Rochester attended Purdue University and Washington University, St. Louis, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority.After taking training as a Girl Scout executive, she directed programs in Beloit, WI and came to Corning in 1938 as executive director of the Corning Area Girl Scouts.
After her marriage to Thomas WalterRochester Jr. on June 6, 1940, and while raising her family, she continued to be actively involved in Girl Scout work as a volunteer, serving as scout leader for several troops, board member, and district chairman and trainer.She was also a member of AAUW and a life-long member of Christ Episcopal Church, where she was Sunday school superintendent and president of the Women’s Guild. In 1966, along with Mrs. John Lanning, she established the Meals on Wheels program in Corning, the second Meals on Wheels in the United States. After her retirement from Meals on Wheels, she served as a volunteer for the Literacy Volunteers program. Her husband predeceased her in 1978.
Among her many achievements are: First recipient of the Kiwanis Community Service award,First Recipient of the Service to God and Mankind award from United Way, Shand Award for People Helping People and Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow.
She is survived by her children; Elizabeth Page (Richard) Curry of Louisville, KY, Thomas W. (Diane) Rochester of Greeley, CO, andAndrew Jean (Karen) Rochester ofPainted Post, NY.Sister; Sophie May Owen [David], Kirkwood, MO.Nine Grandchildren; Todd [Michelle] Curry, Brent Curry, Tammy (Kerry) Rodriguez, Susan (Derek) Starkey, Robert Kennedy, Don Rochester, Stephen, Anne and Emily Rochester, and 14 great grandchildren.

James Hogue
James Hogue, 67 years, of Dwight Avenue, Corning, NY died Friday, October 8, 2004 at Corning Hospital. Jim was born February 6, 1937 in Corning son of the late John Leo and Louise Strawser Hogue. He was a graduate of Northside High School. Jim was a builder and built buildings for a living but more importantly he built a family. He loved life and married his high school sweetheart Elizabeth (Beth) Kelly fifty years ago October 11, 1954 in Corning. They have eight children, James and Karen Hogue, Terrance Hogue, Mike and Lisa Hogue, Kathryn and Noah Davis, Kelly and Kevin Clarkson, Chris and Jean Hogue, Kerry and Jeff Gush, Joshua and Carrie Hogue. Jim has nineteen grandchildren who he loved to spend time with, Alissa, Lauren and Missy Hogue, Kelly Hogue, Liam, Colin and Corey Hogue, Noah, Sean and Kelsie Davis, Kendyl and Kyle Clarkson, Hannah, Morgan and Brendyn Hogue, Jordan and Kayla Gush and Emryn and Seth Hogue. Survivors also include a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Kay and Vincent Rock of Conklin, NY a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Helga Hogue of Columbia, SC, brother-in-law, H. Richard Kelly of Phoenix, AZ, and sister-in-law, Virginia Faber of Rochester, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother John Hogue. Jim loved to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events and was always there to encourage them. He also watched them as they learned to water ski at the lake or sat quietly with them in the hammock. She was born March 1, 1916 in Painted Post, NY, the daughter of the late Frank and Nancy Stewart Cutler.A lifetime resident of the area, graduating form Painted Post High School, and living most of her adult life in Post Creek, NY.Marion and Harry M. Haischer were married in 1932 in Painted Post, NY.He predeceased her in September of 2000.
She was an avid gardener and an outstanding cook.Marion was greatly loved by her family and many friends and will truly be missed by all.

Patricia J. “Pat” Bockus Hartwell, 53 years of 2182 Ginnan Road died Thursday, September 30, 2004 at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Corning, NY, December 28, 1950, the daughter of Carl L. and Marilyn Smith Bockus.
A lifetime resident of the area and graduate of Corning Free Academy and Corning/Painted Post West High School.
Pat was employed for 30 years with Corning Incorporated as an inspector at the Fallbrook Plant.
She was a country girl-enjoying the outdoors, gardening and the cabin.Cooking and crafts were a talent that she loved to share with family and friends.Pat truly loved life, her family, and was devoted to the love of her life; Michael.

Helen M. Beykirch 78 years of Founders Pavilion and formerly of LaMirada, CA, died Saturday August 14, 2004 at the Corning Hospital.
She was born December 7, 1925 in Harrisburg, IL, the daughter of the late A. M. and Ada Lewis Mitchell.
Helen was a graduate of Harrisburg, IL High School class of 1943, she attended Carbondale and received her BA and MA degrees from the University of Southern California. She was a teacher at Bellflower High School, Bellflower, CA and a counselor at Cerritos Community College in Norwalk, CA, retiring in 1993.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, her joy was visiting her family. Her interests were traveling, the game of tennis, walking and enjoying the vast outdoors.
Surviving her sons; Michael (Elke Meyer) Beykirch of Corning, NY and Karl (Darlene) Beykirch of Tuebingen, Germany.Granddaughters; Kris and Hannah Beykirch and Grandson; Austen Beykirch. Her sister; Catherine (John) Hay of Temple City, CA. Also several nieces & nephews.

Francis Frawley
Corning, NY
Francis J. Frawley, 79 years,of 75 Gorton St., died Thursday August 12, 2004 at the Corning Hospital.
He was born in Elmira, NY November 22, 1924, the son of the late Francis and Margaret Wood Frawley. Graduating from Thomas Edison High School, Ithaca College and received his Masters Degree from Cortland State University. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the USS Alabama in the Pacific Theater, during World War II (1943-45).
Francis and Janice Ozard were married August 10, 1946 in St. Charles Church in Elmira Heights, NY.
He was a teacher employed first with St. Mary’s School in Elmira, then taught grade school and became Teaching Principal at Elmira Heights. In 1958 he joined the Corning/Painted Post School District and its teaching staff at Corning Free Academy, where he retired in 1987, with 29yrs teaching service.
Francis was a member of All Saints Parish, attending St. Vincent de Paul Church and a past member of the Holy Name Society. He was an Alderman for the City of Corning, serving the seventh ward for 12 years. A member and past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus, Third Degree and a member of the Fourth Degree Fr. Guilfoil Assembly. He was a past member of the Elmira Heights Kiwanis Club, member of the Ithaca College Alumni Association, member of the USS Alabama Battleship Crew Members, the World War II Memorial and following retirement he was an active docent at the Rockwell Museum.
Francis truly loved his family and was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.
Surviving his wife; Janice, of 58 years. Sons; Timothy J. (Cheryl Jordan) Frawley of Painted Post, NY and William F. Frawley of Corning, NY. Daughters; Margaret (Timothy) Roe of Corning, NY, Mary Beth (Joseph P. Camerino) Lovejoy of Baldwinsville, NY, Susan (Larry) French of Corning, NY and Janet Guglielmo of Carmel Valley, CA. Grandchildren; Charles (Megan) Lovejoy & Patricia Lovejoy, Mathew (Jessica) Roe & Adam and Jennifer Roe, Kelsey & Dustin French and Jamie & Paul Guglielmo.Two sisters; June (Bob) Mayand Sueann (Dick) Stuart all of Elmira Heights, NY.
