Marian "Mimi" Murphy Dailey formerly of Corning, NY, died at the age of 87, Wednesday September 27, 2006 at Bethany Manor.
She was born in Corning, NY August 27, 1919, the daughter of the late John W. and Cecelia Wixted Murphy. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic School and Corning Free Academy (class of 1936). She attended Corning Community College and Mississippi Southern College.
Marian and Lt. William F. Dailey were married January 9, 1943. During WWII she traveled with her husband (who was stationed in five states), until assigned overseas, where later he was killed in Cherbourg, France, serving his country.
She was employed as Administrative Assistant at Corning Inc., retiring with forty three years active service. More recently she had received her sixty year service pin.
Marian was a member of All Saints Parish, attending St. Mary’s Church, League of the Sacred Heart, the Auxiliary of the American Legion, John P. Eaton Post and the Corning Hospital Chapter.
Surviving her are her; niece, Colleen Fitzpatrick and family, husband Tom and son, Tommy; her nephew, John Murphy and family, wife Sue and children Susan, Ryan and Tim; her nephew ,Tom Hultzman and son, Tim; her nephew, Jim Murphy and family, wife Beth and children Adam and Katie; her sisters in law, Chris Murphy and Eve Murphy.
She was predeceased by three brothers, John Raymond Murphy, James Murphy and Joseph Murphy; sister, Alice Hultzman and brother in law, Francis Hultzman; nephew, Timothy Hultzman and niece, Maureen Murphy Rogers.
We are grateful and thankful to all Marian’s friends and family that have supported her through these difficult times. She treasured each and every relationship and was uplifted daily by your encouraging cards and calls.

Thomas J. Wilsoncroft, 70 years of Corning, N.Y. died Saturday September 30, 2006 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
He was born July 14, 1936 in Pittsburg, PA. the son of the late Ellsworth Henry and Mary Danaher Wilsoncroft. He was a graduate of Altoona, PA. High School - Penn State (Altoona Campus) and Elmira College.
He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving four years.
Tom and A. Diane Hall were married at St. Patricks Church, Corning, N.Y October 6, 1962. She predeceased him August 12, 1997.
He was employed with Corning Inc. as Engineer Senior Associate serving the company from 1960-1997.
Tom was a member of All Saints Parish, attending St. Patricks Church and St. Vincent de Paul Church.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His career as an engineer senior associate with Corning Inc. was very important to him

Mary Cilip Lesh, 82 years of 267 East Pulteney St. died unexpectedly at her home, Thursday December 14, 2006.
She was born March 30, 1924 in Pittsburg, PA. the daughter of the late Michael and Nancy Gaydos Cilip. Mary came to corning as a child and was a graduate of Northside High School, Class of 1941. She had attended Corning Community College.
Mary and Leo Frederick Lesh were married November 7, 1942 at St. Mary’s Church, Corning, NY. He predeceased her March 19, 2002.
She was employed as a Teachers Assistant for the Corning/Painted Post School District.
Mary was a member of All Saints Parish, attending St. Mary’s Church, a past member of St. Mary’s Choir and past president of Kent Phillips PTA.
Surviving her daughter; Nancy Lesh of Los Angeles, CA. and Son; Leo Michael (Leslie) Lesh of Montrose, CA. Grandchildren; Ashley Marsch, Leighana Marsch, Hayley Lesh and Jordyn Lesh and Great Grandchild; Julianna Richards. Brother; Michael (Betty) Cilip of Addison, NY. and Sister; Anna Dumbaugh of Painted Post, NY. Also several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brother; George Cilip.

She was a graduate of Woodstown High School and attended nursing school.
Mary Ann and John J. Taylor were married February 11, 1950 in Woodstown, N.J. She had resided in the Corning Area from 1986 to present day.
She was a member of All Saints Parish attending St. Vincent de Paul Church and the VFW John P. Eaton Post # 524 Women’s Auxillary.
Surviving her husband of 56 years, John. Three sons; William Charles (Denise) Taylor of Midland, TX. Michael John Sr. (Stephanie) Taylor of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Thomas James (Deborah) of Bluffton, S.C. She was born November 28, 1928 in Corning, NY, the daughter of the late Omar P. And Marguerite A. Hadley Van Etten. A lifetime resident of Corning and graduate of Northside High School.
Wanda and Lewis were married August 30, 1952 in the East Lindley Church.
She was employed with Corning Inc., in the secretarial department from 1946-1992 and at the time of her retirement she was the receptionist at Main Plant. She had received her 50 year service pin.
Wanda was a member of the Central Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School for many years.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Loving children was her expertise and she had assisted her daughter, Amanda with the Day Care Program (for 7 years).

Robert C. Watkins 79 years of 19 Roberts Avenue died Friday August 25, 2006 at Corning Hospital.
He was born April 6, 1927 in Detroit, MI the son of the late Harry Watkins, Sr. and Mary Louise Thompson. He came to the Corning area when he was two years old and was a graduate of Corning Free Academy, Florida A & M and the Corning Traders Division. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict (1950-1952).
Bob and Cleo Briley were married April 10, 1954 in Corning, N.Y.
He was employed with Corning Inc. beginning in 1942 and over the years working his way at Pressware as Apprentince in the Machinist Program, he served at Pressware as a Class A Bench Machinist, Pressware Development Gauge Builder and at Sullivan Park Developmental Machine Builder; retiring in 1985 with 43 years service with the Company.
Bob was a Loving and Devoted husband, father and grandfather and also committed to community involvement.
He was the Commissioner of the N.Y. State Parks (Finger Lakes Area), Charter Member of the Crystal City Social Club, Regional Representative of the Western Region of NAACP and Member at Lodge, Member of the Corning OSUKA Sister City Committee, Prince Hall Masons, Mt. Nebo Lodge #82., AFGWU, Steuben Country Democratic Committee, Charter Member of the Southern Tier Employment Council, Charter Member of the Corning Bi Racial Group, he was appointed (at the time by Congressman Stanley Lundin and AMory Houghton) to the Military Academy Selection Committee for the Congressional District., Lifetime member of the NAACP, he was a Methodist in faith, a member of the Corning VFW John P. Eaton Post.
Bob was recognized at the World Trade Center (by Past Govenor Como) as a prominent Black Tradesman.

John J. "Jack" Hultzman of 45 Pyrex Street, died Wednesday August 16, 2006 at the Corning Hospital.
He was born in Corning, N.Y. the son of the late Francis L. And Mary F. Shea Hultzman.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II (1941-1946).
Jack and Dorothy Lang were married in St. Mary’s Church, September 2, 1950.
A lifetime resident of Corning . He was employed with Corning Inc. Glass Division with over 50 years service, as assistant manager of production also as coordinator of new designs. He had received his 70 year service pin and retired in 1982.
Jack had attended St. Mary’s Church and was a lifetime member of the Corning VFW and the Corning Lodge of Elks # 1071, a member of the John P. Eaton American Legion Post and the Corning Lodge of Moose.

Helen Elizabeth Gay formerly of West Third St., died in the early hours of Saturday July 22, 2006 at Founders Pavilion where she was recovering from several major injuries and succumbed to prolong difficulties.
She was born in Astoria, NY, the daughter of Louis and Mary Condon and moved with her family to the Corning area in 1940 to pursue a life in West Central New York State.
Helen was a loving and devoted daughter, niece, sister, wife, mother, aunt and friend to many.
Helen had been employed as a secretary for Corning Inc. , and for most of her prominent years she was employed in the jewelry business for Charles Ray and Frank Barber.
Helen and Edmond W. Gay were married for 51 years. He predeceased her April 23, 1997. Her brother Louis J. Condon also predeceased her.
She is survived by her three sons; Edmond L. Gay of Portland, Oregon, Michael T. Gay (wife Dianne) of Atlanta, Georgia, and John P. Gay of Houston, TX. Six Grandchildren and her sister in law Mary Condon and family of Corning, NY.

Anna M. Banik 94 years formerly of Third Street, Corning, N.Y. died Friday July 21, 2006 at Drakes Personal Care Nursing Home in Galeton, PA.
She was born July 3, 1912 in Scenia, Czechoslovakia; the daughter of the late Steve and Rose Hrin Dunay. She came to the United States with her family when she was 15 years old and was a graduate of St. Patricks School.
Rose and John Banik were married in St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Corning, N.Y. John predeceased her August 15, 1968.
She was employed with Corning Glass Works working at factory as an Inspector and Packer with over 50 years active and inactive service retiring in 1977.
She was a member of All Saints Parish, attending St. Patricks Church. She also enjoyed her many friends and activities at the Corning Senior Center.
Anna was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was devoted to her faith and was a daily communicant until failing health.

Jolanda had a great love of family and especially her grandchildren.
She enjoyed crafts and gardening.

He was born June 6, 1924 in Hedger, Great Britain, UK the son of the late George and Hilda Kate House Smith. He had attended schools in the UK and was a Drill Sargent in the Royal Marines.
Walter and Gladis Eileen Lemnea were married May 1, 1948 in Highwycombe Buckinghamshire, UK. Gladis predeceased him January 24, 2004.
He was employed as a truck driver with Loudwater Hauling Company in Loudwater, UK.
Walter was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a great race car enthusiast (hauling races cars for his racing son Laurence "Tommy" Raymond Smith.
Surviving his sons, John (Kate) Lee of Great Britain, UK. and Clive Smith of Great Britain, UK. Four daughters, Sylvia (Donald) Tweedale of North Las Vegas, NV., Cynthia (Fred) Mula of Great Britain, Lyn Allen of Spain and Georgina (Stephen) Pierce of Lindley, NY. Fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Brothers, Robert (Maureen) Smith of Great Britain and John Smith of Great Britain. Sisters, Ann Smith, Margaret (Fred) Neadham, Helen (John) Perry all of Great Britain. Also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by two sons, Laurence Raymond "Tommy" Smith and Graham Smith.

Mary E. Naida 56 years of 33 Charles St., Corning, NY, died Thursday June 15, 2006 at the Cleveland Clinic.
She was born January 20, 1950 in Corning, NY the daughter of the late Stanley and Veronica Sims Naida. She was a lifetime resident of the area, graduating from Corning/Painted Post West High School and received her LPN degree from BOCES.
Mary was employed as a nurse in the Labor/Delivery Unit at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, retiring in 2000.
She was a loving and devoted person, who was committed to her family, neighbors and pets. She gave of her professional attributes and her tender loving care to many people. Mary will truly be missed by her family, employee associates and all individuals she has known.
