LUCY Mary Elizabeth McCabe Age 77 of 422 Church St., Athens, PA died on Friday, August 8, 2003. Mrs. Lucy was born on November 11, 1925 in Sayre, PA to her parents Thomas P. and Mary Goodall McCabe. She is survived by daughters, Ann Lucy of Cabin John, Maryland, and Kathryn and son-in-law Richard Hughes, of Lost River, West Virginia, Eileen and son-in-law, Willam Holgate of Glenora, NY, Elizabeth and son-in-law, Laurence Reagan of Sayre, and Theresa and son-in-law, Stephen LoPresto of Waverly. One son, Charles and daughter-in-law, Nina of Granger, IN. Mrs. Lucy is survived by brothers, Robert McCabe of Waverly, and Joseph McCabe of Moorestown, NJ; sisters, Ann Burton of Sayre, Theresa Wilgus of Glenora, NY; sister-in-law, Mary Anne Lucy of Sayre. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lucy is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Charles, who passed away on June 29, 2003; her parents; brothers, Paul and Thomas McCabe; sister, Eileen McCabe. Mrs. Lucy graduated from Sayre High School and was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church. Family was very important to Mary. Family was her life. Mary spent many hours volunteering with numerous organizations such as Literacy volunteer for Bradford and Sullivan Counties, Member of the Church of the Epiphany Eucharistic Adoration Society, former member of the Board of Directors of The Tioga Point Museum, and volunteer for many years for Valley Meals on Wheels. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at 9:30 AM at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Athens, PA with Father Vincent Langan officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Epiphany Cemetery in Sayre. MARK Dr. James Alexander Age 91 of Elmira died suddenly Thursday, August 7, 2003. Dr. Mark was born December 31, 1911, son of the late Dr. Alexander and Julia Mark. He is predeceased by his wife of fifty-five years, Katharine Murray Mark; son, James Murray Mark; brother, John Mark; brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Margaret Mark; and sisters, Isobel Mark McCarthy and Sarah Mark. Dr. Mark is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Anne M. Longanecker of Bloomfield, NY; Kathleen M. and Lawrence Muscarella of Elmira; M. Bernadette Macdonald of Woodbridge VA and Julia T. and Thomas McInerney of Hornell, NY; daughter-in-law, Roxanne Mark of Horseheads; nephew, Terrence Mark, with wife Judy, of Olean, NY; sixteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Dr. Mark attended the University of Buffalo Pre-Med and Medical School and graduated in 1935. He did General Practice for ten years, then Obstetrics and Gynecology for thirty-two years. He was extremely dedicated to his practice and patients. Dr. Mark shared the Chairmanship of Obstetrics at St. Joseph's Hospital for many years with Dr. William Burke. He was a past president of St. Joseph's Hospital staff and also a past president of the Chemung County Medical Society. Dr. Mark was also a founding member of Our Lady of Lourdes parish where he was a lector for many years. He was lifetime honorary member of Rev. Henry F. Adamski 4th Degree Assembly and the Elmira Council #229 Knights of Columbus. Dr. Mark enjoyed fishing and any time he could spend at Keuka Lake with family and friends. He will be remembered for his loving and patient manner and his generous support to the Elmira community. BAKER Ronald Edward Age 65, of Glenburnie, MD, died Wednesday, November 26, 2003, in Gelnburnie, MD. Ronald was born in Waverly on June 22, 1938, the son of Claude and Elma Baker. Ronald is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer and Angelique of Glenburnie, MD; two brothers, William Baker and Jack Baker of Spencer; five sisters, Alberta Sherer of FL, Shirley Hess of Spencer, Betty Marshall of Cato, Mary Wyak of Spencer, Susan DiGiacomo of KS. CALLAHAN William J. Age 74, of County Rte. 59, Dexter and Cape Coral, Florida, died at 7 a.m., Saturday at his home in Dexter, under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County. He was formerly of Hoffman St., Elmira, NY. He was born on October 30, 1929, in Manhattan, the son of William and Mary Ellen Boland Callahan. He graduated from New York University with a bachelors degree. He served in the Army from 1951 until 1953 as a teletype repairman. He married Josephine T. Kwasnicki on June 13, 1954 in the Bronx, NY. The couple moved to Elmira, NY, in 1968 and he worked at the Elmira Correctional Facility as a classification analyst for 22 years. He retired in 1990 and had been living in Dexter and Cape Coral, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Josephine; his sons, William K. of Elba, NY, Robert of Horseheads, Lt. Colonel Michael of Madison, AL, and Joseph of Green Bay, WI; daughter, Carol Howard of Spencer; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. He will be cremated. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.

CORTRIGHT Stanley Asahel "Corty" Passed away peacefully Monday, December 1, 2003, at home with his loving family at his side. He was retired from Corning Glass, after several years of service. DENNIS George Edward Age 75 of Otisco, died Friday, November 28, at University Hospital, husband of the late Margaret Dennis. He retired from Lakelawn Transport, Inc. He was a life member of the Otisco Fire Department, with 33 years of active service. He was a member of the Otisco Senior Citizens and a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. DI PIPPO Judith M. Age 86, longtime resident of Eastchester, died on November 29, 2003, at White Plains Hospital. Di Pippo was born in Elmira, NY, on January 11, 1917, to Genevieve and Joseph Molinari Malone. Mrs. Di Pippo was a member of the Eastchester Women's Club for over 20 years. She was noted for her love of the Yankees and her major contributions to Mohegan Sun. She was married for 50 years to Leonard J. Di Pippo who died October 10, 1987. She was also predeceased by her two sons, John Joseph and Leonard Michael Di Pippo. MERTZ Elberta Holt Beloved sister, aunt, and friend Age 93, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Friday, November 28th, 2003, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Elberta was born in Westfield, PA, on November 5th, 1910, the daughter of the late James G. and Clara George Holt. She was the loving wife of the late Donald S. Mertz, whom she dearly missed. Elberta was a 1932 graduate of the Arnot School of Nursing, and was a practicing Registered Nurse for over 60 years. All her adult life was helping others with a heart of nursing care. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, member of the Holy Trinity SG (Sewing Group) and very active in the Home Bureau. SCHAEFFER Rita Leona (Culhane) Age 86, of Springfield Township, Columbia Crossroads, PA, passed away early Monday morning, December 1, 2003, at her home with her loving husband of 53 years by her side. She was born April 23, 1917 in Rochester, NY, a daughter of the late John Daniel and Marie Ellen (Fahy) Culhane. Rita was very devoted to her husband, Bob, and enjoyed taking trips with him. She also enjoyed making things in ceramic. Rita is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Schaeffer, at home; sisters, Ruth Palmgreen and Eileen Pier, both of Rochester, NY; a brother-in-law, John (Lois) Schaeffer of Florida; a sister-in-law, Jean Bradley of Rochester, NY; and many nieces and nephews from the Rochester area. UPDIKE Lynn Devoted husband, father and grandfather Age 94, of Gillett, PA, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 29, 2003. Reginald was a member of the Millerton United Methodist Church, Millerton, PA, a retired Trust Department employee of Chemung Canal Trust Company, Elmira, NY and in his spare time he enjoyed making candy for family and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at 11:00 AM in the Millerton United Methodist Church, Millerton PA.
