John C. Reed of Springville, formerly of Franklinville, passed away February 12, 2003 at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, Springville. He was born Nov. 28, 1927 to Bernice and Ezma (Cook) Reed in Springville, Tenn. He attended the old LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls and was a member of the Baptist Church in Franklinville. He was the husband of Mary E. (Argy) Reed, father of John Cook (Rhonda) Reed Jr. of Seattle, Wash., David Alexander (Pamela) Reed of Lockport, George Leslie (Valery) Reed II of Detroit, Mich., Carolyn Reed (Bobbie) Wheeler of Navarre, Fla., Leslie (Larry) Broat of Michigan and JoEllen (Dalva) Hedlund of Ithaca; also survived by eight grandchildren; brother of George Leslie (Beverly) Reed. He was a World War II Army veteran and belonged to American Legion Post #431. He had been a manager and coach for the Mortons Corners Baseball Club. He was noted for his great pitching ability and could throw a good curve and a big drop ball.

Hampton of Brigham City, Utah and the late Charlie Hampton; grandmother of Jennifer M. Arthur W. Bryant of Springville, June 23, 2003 following a courageous battle. He was born August 22, 1941 in Salamanca to William and Louise (nee Ramsdell) Bryant. He attended Little Valley Central School and Bryant and Stratton Business School, and was a veteran of the Vietnam Era, serving in the United States Marine Corps from 1960 to 1964. He was a programer/consultant for JBM Computer Consultants in West Seneca for approximately 14 years.

Belle M. Burroughs
Belle M. Burroughs, 89, of Eddyville, December 31, 2003 at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville.
She was born Feb. 13, 1914 in East Otto, the daughter of the late Christopher and Nellie (Flecken- stein) Hart. She married Wilson W. Burroughs on Jan. 30,1934. He died March 24, 1995.
Mrs. Burroughs and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm in Eddyville for many years. She was a member of the Eddyville Community Church and the Mansfield Grange. She also loved to crochet and knit.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis Burroughs of North Otto and Gary (Gail) Burroughs of Eddyville; three daughters, Donna (Paul) Randall of Springville, Diane (Richard) Hopkins of Tennessee, and Geraldine (Danny) Hart of Eddyville; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces. She was predeceased by a sister, Lillian Gogel.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Mentley Funeral Home, Inc., 411 Rock City Street, Little Valley. The Rev. Merton Burnham officiated. Burial was in Maples Cemetery, Mansfield.
