Helene M. Cotter (nee Maute)
Helene M. Cotter (nee Maute), October 27, 2005, of Springville. Wife of the late George H. Cotter; mother of Daniel (Abi) and Brian (Jill) Cotter; grandmother of Molly, Peter, Alyson and Chad Cotter; sister of Marie Holahan, Rosemary (Robert) Seloske and the late Joseph and Carl Maute, Jane Hickey and Catherine Deazley. A prayer service was held Monday morning at 9:30 from the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Springville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Aloysius Church, Springville, at 10 o'clock. The Rev. Lawrence Cobel officiated. Burial was in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Springville. Mrs. Cotter was a member of St. Aloysius parish and a member of the Springville Country Club for over 40 years.
Joanne E. Glow
Joanne E. Glow, 70, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.
She was born April 23, 1935 in East Otto, the daughter of the late Herbert and Dorothy (Tegler) Bartlett.
She was the wife of Lloyd F. Glow of East Otto; mother of David Glow and Sharon Smith of Cattaraugus, Diane Barber, Sandra Barber, and Debra Glow of East Otto; sister of Harold Bartlett of Alabama and Larry Bartlett of East Otto; also survived by 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the W.C. Edmunds Fire Company Auxiliary and the East Otto United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed a good bingo game.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 29 at 11 a.m. from Hills Funeral Chapel, 55 South Main Street, Cattaraugus. The Rev. Irwin W. Reist of East Otto United Methodist Church officiated. Internment was in the East Otto Cemetery.

Arletta L. Bailey
Arletta L. Bailey, 91, who retired from teaching at the Olean School District after 33 years, died October 31, 2005 at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.
She was born in New Albion, the daughter of the late Herman G. and Louise (Gross) Bailey.
She graduated from Cattaraugus High School in 1932, and from South Dakota State University in 1936. She taught school in South Dakota for a few years, then returned to Western New York and taught at Barker, Elmira Heights, Ithaca and Olean.
She was the sister of Margaret Russell of East Otto and the late Beatrice Bailey Innes; aunt of Dalene Innes Behrens of Bainbridge, NY, Cheryl Russell Pauley of Amherst, and the late Dougas D. Innes; also survived by several grand-nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from the Cattaraugus United Methodist Church. The Rev. David C. Piatt will officiate. Burial will be in the Liberty Park Cemetery, Cattaraugus.

Donald E. Parsell
Donald E. Parsell, 67, a retired disposal plant laborer for Moench Tanning Inc., died Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at Lake Shore Hospital in Irving. He was a member of the Slovianian Club, Gowanda.
He was born in Buffalo, the son of the late Leo and Wilda (Miller) Parsell.
He was the husband of Elizabeth Ann (Morgan) Parsell of Collin; father of Edward John (Kim) Parsell of Machias, Michael John (Juanita) Parsell of Forestville, Candy Ann Barber of North Otto; grandfather of 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother of Gary Parsell of Chaffee, Buster Parsell of Cottage, Mary Ann Parsell of Buffalo and Betty Parsell of Buffalo. Arrangements were made by the Hill Funeral Chapel, 255 Aldrich St., Gowanda.
Edgar A. Ploetz
Edgar A. Ploetz of West Valley died Tuesday, June 6, 2006.
He was born in Springville. His family originally came from Plato, moving to Springville in search of employment when Mr. Ploetz was born. The family returned to Plato and resumed dairy farming in 1920.
He was a 1938 graduate of West Valley Central School as valedictorian of his class, and entered Cornell University. He returned home due to the failing health of his father and the family finances, assisted his father and eventually purchased the family dairy farm.
He was a member of the West Valley Central School Board for 20 years and was president for 12 of those years. In addition he was a member of the Springville M&T Bank Advisory Board and the Ellicottville Town Planning Board.
He became partners with the late Hayden Williams, and the Williams and Ploetz team purchased and sold over 90 farms in the Western New York area.
One of his favorite accomplishments was the construction of his nine-acre lake adjacent to Route 219.
He was the husband of the late Eleanor M. Ploetz (nee Felton); father of David J. (Ann) Ploetz of West Valley, Larry E. (Cheryl) Ploetz of Plato, Christine M. (Donald) Sinn of East Otto and Karen L. (Michael) Schiefer of East Otto; grandfather of eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother of Leonard (Dorothy) Ploetz
of Plato, Alfrieda Greatrix of Lancaster, Marion (James) Stone of Great Valley, Betty Jane (Lee) Moody of Columbus, Ohio, and the late John Ploetz, James Ploetz, Richard Ploetz, Dorothy Merle and Ruth Lyons; brother-in-law of Shirley Ploetz of Cattaraugus.
Funeral services were held Friday morning from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ellicottville. The Rev. William Kay officiated. Burial was in Plato Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund, Ellicottville, NY 14731.

Cheryl L. Ebert, nee Lubke, 51, of Napoli, died June 10, 2006 at her home.
She had been employed as an accountant for the Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau for over 15 years, and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ellicottville and the VFW Auxiliary in Little Valley.

bert; mother of Patrick (Rosaliz Martinez) Ebert of Buffalo and Michelle (Luis Martinez) Ebert of Kill Buck; daughter of Leo H. and Shirley Tingue Lubke Sr. of Tavares, Fla.; sister of Leo H. (Linda) Lubke Jr. of Springville, Terry (Dawn) Lubke of Great Valley, and the late Donna Lubke; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth A. Wood (nee Dillingham), age 68, of East Concord, died December 20, 2006.
She was a graduate of North Collins Central School and had been a legislative secretary for Ronald Bennett in Holland and Tom Reynolds in Springville and East Aurora. She assisted her husband, who was a judge, as court clerk in the town of Sardinia 1968 to 1997 and was a member of the Protection United Methodist Church.
She was the wife of Edward Wood Jr.; mother of Edward III (Peggy) Wood of Collins, Debra (Timothy) McCollister of Newport News, Va. and Donna (Daniel Huss) Fountain of Cheektowaga; sister of Keith (Helen) Dillingham of North Collins and Patti (Harold) Williams of Yucaipa, Calif.; also survived by eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
