A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday (Jan. 17) from Holy Spirit Church for Vincent J. Padalino of North Collins, who died Monday, January 14, 2002.
Husband of the late Mary L. Carbone Padalino, he is survived by his son, Vincent V. (June) Padalino; daughters, May Jane (William) Fletcher and Frances (Warren-Doty) Ritz; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Mr. Padalino was past president of the North Collins Senior Citizens Club.
Burial will be at Holy Spirit Cemetery and arrangements were made through the Wentland Funeral Home.
James Snyder
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday (Jan. 19) from St. Vincent de Paul Church for James Snyder, 77, of Derby, who died Wednesday, January 16, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda M. Leissle Snyder; sons, Joseph H. (Nancy), James L., Paul A. and John D. (Lynn) Snyder; daughters, Mary M. (Christopher) Smith, Jane A. (Gary) Gienger; brother, Henry E. (Irma) Snyder; 11 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Snyder was a retired assistant superintendent of Buffalo Forge and a member of the Holy Name Society and the Bingo Committee of St. Vincent de Paul Church. He was past commissioner of the North Evans Fire District and a charter member of the Highland Rod and Gun Club.
Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church Restoration Fund.
Burial will be at St. Vincent Cemetery, the arrangements were made by Schiavone Funeral Home.
Margaret Ahrens
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday (Jan. 24) from Most Precious Blood Church for Margaret K. Phelan Ahrens, 80, of Hamburg, who died Monday, January 21, 2002.
Wife of the late Charles Ahrens, she is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Vincent) Burke; two grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, William (Penny) Phelan.
Mrs. Ahrens was a member of the Most Precious Blood Altar and Rosary Society.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Buffalo or Our Lady of Victory Home of Charity.
Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Edward Miles
Funeral services were held Thursday (Jan. 24) from Loomis, Offers and Loomis Funeral Home for Edward Miles,72, of Hamburg, who died Monday, January 21, 2002.
He is survived by step-children, Gary L. (Michele), Robert (Sally), Miess and Constance (Rev. Nell) Frey; brother, David (Barbara) Miles; sisters, Louise (Jack) Cleaton and Kay ( Allen) Mitchel; sisters-in-law, Rosa and Edith Miles; also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Miles served in the Navy during the Korean War.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Henry Capasso
Funeral services were held Monday (Jan. 21) from Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home for Henry Capasso, 78, of Hamburg, who died Friday, January 18, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Aldrich Capasso; sons, David, Michael (Renee), Paul (Jayne) and Ronald (Gail), Kim (Lorrie) Capasso; brothers, Julius (Mary), Joseph Clyde (Delores), Nelson (late Marie) and Anthony (Dorothy) Capasso; sisters, Molly (late Gilbert) Kosha and Rosie (Lechio) Perseilo; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Florence (late Frank) Panasuk.
Mr. Capasso was employed as a crane operator at Republic Steel in Buffalo.
Burial services will be at Lakeside Cemetery.
Robert Muehlbauer
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday (Jan. 29) from St. Martin’s Church for Robert Muehlbauer, 73, of New Oregon who died Sunday, January 27, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred “Milly” Hamman Muehlbauer; daughters, Sue (Doug) Jensen and Monica (John) Schmit; son, Carl Muehlbauer; sisters, Matilda Ernst and Clara Schoetz; brother, Edward Muehlbauer; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles, Max and Joseph Muehlbauer.
Mr. Muehlbauer was a past member of the Langford New Oregon Volunteer Fire Department.
Arrangements were made by the Wentland Funeral Home.
Jessie Pawlik
Funeral services were held Saturday (Jan. 19) from Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home for Jessie M. Kalota Pawlik, 88, of Hamburg and formerly of North Tonawanda, who died Wednesday, January 16, 2002.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte (Richard) Foster; son, Peter S. (Sally) Pawlik; brother, Steven (Dolores) Kalota; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Peter P. Pawlik.
Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Wilbert Steffy
Funeral services were held Friday (Jan. 26) from Faith Baptist Bible Church for Wilbert Grant “Pappy” Steffy, 70, of Lawtons, who died Sunday, January 20, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Steffy; daughters, Evelyn, Deanne and Kathleen Steffy and Judy Campbell; sons, Grant, Benjamin, Robert and Wilbert Jr. Steffy and William and Thomas Gabel; mother, Dolly Lyons; brothers, Charles and William Steffy and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his father, William Steffy and brother, Richard Steffy.
Mr. Steffy was a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion Post No. 409 Gowanda.
Burial will be at North Collins Cemetery and arrangements were made by the Wentland Funeral Home.
