Funeral services were held Saturday (Jan. 26) from Wayside Presbyterian Church for Dorothy Miller Stuber DeVoe, 91, of Hamburg, who died Thursday, January 3, 2002.
Wife of the late Howard DeVoe and the late Al Stuber, she is survived by her daughter, Judy (Lloyd) Michelsen; son, Bruce (Sharon) Stuber; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Mrs. DeVoe was a member of the Eastern Star.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or Wayside Presbyterian Church.
Burial will be held later this year and arrangements were made through the Dietrick Funeral Home.
Margaret Helwic
Funeral services were held Friday (Jan. 25) from the Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home for Margaret A. Moore Helwic, 74, of Hamburg, who died Monday, January 21, 2002.
Wife of the late Robert J. Helwic, she is survived by brother-in-law Jack (Gladys) Helwic; cousins and other relatives.
Mrs. Helwic was employed as a bookkeeper for Mobil Oil Co. in Buffalo.
Burial will be at Sardinia Rural Cemetery.
Hattie Foryciarz
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday (Jan. 19) from SS Peter and Paul Church for Hattie F. Foryciarz, 89, of Hamburg, who died Thursday, January 17, 2002.
She is survived by her sister, Anna (late Aloysius) Wittmeyer; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Edwin (Myrtle) Foryciarz.
Ms. Foryciarz was a graduate of Fredonia Normal School and Buffalo State Teacher’s College. She had a 36-year teaching career and was a member of the NYS Retired Teachers Association. She was also the former president of the Hamburg Senior Citizens Travel Club and a member of the AARP Hamburg Chapter No. 1523.
Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery and arrangements were made through the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home.
Bernice Yunkes
Funeral services were held Saturday (Jan. 26) from Loomis, Offers and Loomis Funeral Home for Bernice C. Rohrback Yunkes, 78, of Hamburg, who died Wednesday, January 23, 2002.
She was survived by her husband, August W. Yunkes; sons, Bruce and Alan (Carol) Yunkes; daughter, Sharon (William) Lannon and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo Inc.
Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery.
Helen Chambers
Funeral services were held Wednesday (Jan. 30) from Loomis Offers & Loomis Funeral Home for Helen M. MacPherson Chambers, 74, of Hamburg who died Sunday, January 27, 2002.
Wife of the late James O. Chambers, she is survived by her sons, David (Mary) and Richard (Vera) Chambers; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Barton Miller
A memorial service was held Tuesday (Jan. 22) from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church for Barton F. Miller, 77, of Blasdell, who died Saturday, January 19, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne C. Hunter Miller; sons, Charles (Bonnie) and Thomas (Lisa) Miller; daughters, Deborah (Bud) Carr, Bonnie Pfender, Merry (Donald) Ritch and Laurie (Nick) Markovich; sisters, Marilyn Gleiser and Margret McFarland; 20 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Weitzer and sister, Maureen Lonczak

Joseph Oleniacz
Funeral services were held Thursday (Jan. 24) from John J. Kaczor Funeral Home for Joseph W. Oleniacz, 73, of Woodlawn, who died Monday, January 21, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Delores R. Joseph Oleniacz; brothers, Chester (Madeline) and Frank (Joan) Oleniacz; sister, Helen (late Bryan) Demerly; brother-in-law, Ronald (Sharon) and Edmund Joseph; sister-in-law, Joanne (Fran) Clark, Donna (Rodney) Clem and Debra (Robert) Johnston; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Richard (Irene) Oleniacz.
Mr. Oleniacz was employed as a blacksmith at Bethlehem Steel.
Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Sophie Bloom
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Francis of Assisi Church for Sophie Wisniewski Bloom, 80, of Hamburg, who died Tuesday, June 11, 2002.
Wife of the late Stanley J. Bloom Sr., she is survived by her daughters, Blanche Herman and Linda (Thomas) Moretuzzo; sons, Stanley Bloom Jr., Albert (Sandra), and Kenneth Bloom; sister, Bernice Cizdziel; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Bloom was a 35-year member of St. Francis of Assisi Church’s Altar & Rosary Society and was a member of the Hamburg Homecrafters.
Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery and arrangements were made through the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home.
Michael Kowalczyk Sr.
Funeral services were held Monday (June 10) from St. Francis of Assisi Church for Michael J. Kowalczyk Sr., 84, of Hamburg, who died Thursday, June 6, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Carmela Castelli Kowalczyk; son, Michael (Nancy) Kowalczyk Jr.; daughter, Marlene (Donald) McFeely; sister, Rose Adamski and three grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers, John Kowalczyk and Edward Bachniarz and sister, Maria Hamera.
Mr. Kowalczyk was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Hamburg American Legion. He was employed as an electrician for Bell Aerospace.
Entombment was at Holy Cross Cemetery and arrangements were made through the Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home.
