Funeral services were held Friday (Aug. 23) from Our Mother of Good Counsel Church for Eileen M. Schwindler McGuire, 86, of Blasdell, who died Monday, August 19, 2002.
Wife of the late Clair McGuire, she is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Charles) Minich; son, Michael (Mary) McGuire; brothers, Richard (late Gladys), Frank (Patricia), Thomas (late Dorothy) and Lawrence Schwindler; sisters, Grace (late Raymond) Ramaker and Dorothy Schwindler; sister-in-law, Audrey (late Charles) McGuire; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other family members.
She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Schwindler; and sister-in-law, Mercedes (late Charles) Flack.
Mrs. McGuire was employed as a pharmacy clerk.
Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery and arrangements were made through the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home.
Paul Sweeney
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday (Aug. 24) from St. Bernard Catholic Church for Paul L. Sweeney, 81, of Gowanda and formerly of Lake View, who died Wednesday, August 21, 2002.
Husband of the late Alberta C. Cissel Sweeney, he is survived by his sons, Paul E., John F., Terrence D. and Michael A. Sweeney; daughters, Laura S. Meixner and Catherine L. Sweeney; brother, Fred Sweeney; 11 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother.
Mr. Sweeney was a graduate of St. Bernard High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an electronic engineer for more than 40 years for IBM in Buffalo. A member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Lake View, he is a former member of VFW Post No. 1419 and a former member of the Bradford Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Assembly.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Burial was at St. Bernard Cemetery and arrangements were made through the Koch Chatley Gaeto Memorial Chapel.
Ethel Winter
Graveside services were held Friday (Aug. 23) from Montoursville Cemetery for Ethel L. Maneval Winter, 91, of Eden, who died Tuesday, August 20, 2002.
Wife of the late Harry O. Winter, she is survived by her son, Max E. (Muriel) Winter; and sister, Freda Heyler.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Lois Culp; and brothers, Raymond and Francis Maneval.
Mrs. Winter was a former teacher at Liberty High School in Liberty, Pennsylvania. She was a member of Eden United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Eden Heights Recreation Fund or the Eden United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Alvin Reith
Word has been received of the death of Alvin Joseph Reith, 82, of Royal Palm Beach, Florida and formerly of Athol Springs, who died Saturday, August 17, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Reith; daughters, Barbara (Kim) Grinder and Maureen (Gary) Odle; sister, Alice (Lester) Clark; four grandchildren, a niece and nephews and other family members.
Mr. Reith was a 1937 graduate of Hamburg High School and served in World War II. He owned and operated a construction site commissary service and also was the office manager for Joe Ball Sanitation Service in Blasdell. He was a member of the Hamburg Council Knights of Columbus and the St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

Terry Addison
Funeral services were held Monday (Aug. 19) from Most Precious Blood Church for Terry J. Addison, 32, of Angola, who died Wednesday, August 14, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Kristen Hess Addison; parents, Jay and Mary Margaret Addison; brothers, Randy (Kim) and Scott (Danelle) Addison; grandmother, Mariellen Braeges; nieces and nephews and other family members.
Mr. Addison was a Village of Angola police officer and was a member of the Village of Angola Volunteer Fire Department.

Russell Joy
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Aug. 29 at 10:30 a.m. from Holy Spirit Church for Dr. Russell J. Joy, 76, of Hanover and formerly of North Collins, who died Sunday, August 25, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred E. Wanti Joy; daughters, Mari Beth (George) Jones and Roslyn (Barney) Colon; sisters, Serena (John) Cook and Catherine (Robert) Jackson; and five grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, Dr. Anthony M. Joy.
Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Hospital or the Dr. Russell J. Joy Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o North Collins Central School.

C. Homer Cooper
Funeral services were held Monday (Aug. 26) from the Full Gospel Tabernacle for Reverend C. Homer Cooper, 85, of Hamburg, who died Thursday, August 22, 2002.
Husband of the late Virginia F. Green Cooper, he is survived by his son, Carlton (Patricia) Cooper; daughters, Delores (Robert) Schuman and Esther (Anthony) Cooper; sisters, Charlotte Dieterle and Gladys Snell; brother, William Cooper; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Reese and Walter Cooper.
Rev. Cooper was the pastor at the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Orchard Park.

Jamie Cook
Funeral services were held Saturday (Aug. 24) from Wentland Funeral Home for Jamie C. Cook of Hanover, who died Tuesday, August 20, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Caputi Collins-Cook; sons, Robert, Cody and Ryan Cook; daughter, Amanda Cook; mother, Kathy Kroll Cook-Palermo; brothers, Kevin Cook and Andrew Weller; and sister, Allison Weller.
He was predeceased by his father, James Cook.
