U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-Current

TOMANI - Louis J., owned construction firm 4/13/01
A Mass of Christian Burial for Louis J. Tomani, 76, of Orchard Park, a retired millwright and former partner in a construction firm, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, South Buffalo Street and Thorn Avenue. Burial will be in Nativity Cemetery, Orchard Park.
Tomani, who was born in Buffalo, died Tuesday (April 10, 2001) in Buffalo Hospice after a short illness.
He served as a gunner and torpedoman on a dive bomber with the 3rd Marine Airwing from 1943 to 1946 and was stationed in the Central and South Pacific.
After the war, he obtained a dental technician degree in Philadelphia.
In 1949, he and his brothers, Joe and Reno, formed J.L.P.R., a construction business involved in home building and utility construction.
Before they liquidated the business in 1978, they installed many major water lines in Buffalo, Orchard Park, Boston, Cheektowaga, Amherst, Eden and the Town of Tonawanda. The firm also was involved in assisting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with snow removal during the Blizzard of '77.
Tomani went to work as a millwright at the Ford Stamping Plant in Woodlawn after he left the construction business. He retired about 13 years ago.
He was a World War II and Roman Empire history buff and enjoyed cooking Italian meals.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, the former Margaret Bellezza; two daughters, Judith Bainbridge of Charlotte, N.C., and Laurie Alexander of Orchard Park; four sons, Louis and Gregg, both of Orchard Park, Jack of the Town of Boston and Michael of Rochester; his two brothers, Joe and Reno, both of Buffalo; and 14 grandchildren.

TRZECIESKI - Alfred M. 4/13/01
ATTICA - Alfred M. Trzecie-
ski, 79, a retired dairy farmer, died Wednesday (April 11, 2001) in his home after a long illness.
A native of Bennington, Trzecieski also was a crane operator for Westinghouse Electric Corp.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Trinidad and Tobago, where he helped build an airstrip.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
His wife, the former Jeanette Wrazen, died in 1982.
Surviving are two daughters, Amber McKernan of Gabriels and Sanda Strange of Attica; four sons, Terry of Jackson, Fla., Allen of Goffstown, N.H., David of Alexander and Shawn of Apache Junction, Ariz.; five sisters, Janet Stoner of Orchard Park, Isabel Hanson of Buffalo, Loretta Brayman of Lockport, Helene Schunk of Florida and Leonarda Monihan of Arizona; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Marley Funeral Home, 135 Main St. Burial will be in St. Vincent's Cemetery.

BRIGHAM - Isabel B. 8/6/01
LOCKPORT - Isabel B. Brigham, 87, died Saturday (Aug. 4, 2001) in Newfane Inter-Community Memorial Hospital.
She was born Isabel Sherman in Gasport.
Mrs. Brigham was a nurse many years ago in Hilltop Nursing Home, Gasport.
She was an active member of Faith Tabernacle Church.
Her husband of 44 years, Irving W., died in 1981.
Survivors include a son, Douglas of Barker; two daughters, Carolyn Pyskaty of Barker and Beverly Snell of Gasport; a sister, Olive Bane of Lyndonville; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Faith Tabernacle Church, 5676 Beattie Ave. Burial will be in Orangeport Union Cemetery, Gasport.

DIRAMIO - Frank S. 8/6/01
NIAGARA FALLS - Frank S. DiRamio, 96, a retired Olin Corp. employee, died Saturday (Aug. 4, 2001) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness.
DiRamio was a lifelong Niagara Falls resident and attended local schools.
He worked for 20 years at Olin and was a maintenance supervisor when he retired in 1967.
DiRamio was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he was a former president of the Holy Name Society and a member of the Ushers Club. He also was a member of Council 247, Knights of Columbus, and the Olin Retirees Club.
He enjoyed gardening.
In 1996, DiRamio received the Cittadini Speciali award from the Pine Avenue Business Association.
His wife of 65 years, Rose Carosella DiRamio, died Aug. 8, 1998.
Survivors include a son, Harold of Seattle; a daughter, Mary Anne Wozniak of Grand Island; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Church, 14th Street and Pine Avenue. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Buffalo.

GLOR - Dr. Chester P., retired dentist 8/6/01
Dr. Chester P. Glor, 79, a retired Town of Tonawanda dentist who was active in professional dental organizations, died unexpectedly Saturday (Aug. 4, 2001) in Kenmore Mercy Hospital.
Born in Buffalo, he was a 1939 graduate of Kenmore High School and received his degree from the University of Buffalo Dental School in 1944.
A member of the Naval Reserve while in dental school, he was commissioned a lieutenant junior grade in the Navy after graduation and was stationed at Sampson Naval Base and Camp Perry, attaining the rank of lieutenant.
Returning from service, he joined his father's dental practice in the Brisbane Building. He later moved his practice to the Town of Tonawanda, retiring in 2000.
Glor was a past president of the Equality Club of Buffalo and was a founding member of the Ken-Ton YMCA, where he served as chairman from 1967 to 1969. He was a past president of the Sheridan Drive Lions Club and in 1992 received the Melvin Jones Award, the highest service award given by the Lions.
A life member and former president and treasurer of the Erie County Dental Society, he received the Frank J. Stone Award in 1994 for service to the society and community.
He also was a life member of the Eighth District Dental Society, the New York State Dental Society and the American Dental Association. He was a consultant to the state Office of Professional Discipline.
Glor was named a fellow in the International College of Dentists in 1979 and was a past grand master of Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity's graduate chapter of the UB Dental School. For 15 years, he wrote for the fraternal magazine, the Desmos, and was a three-time recipient of its Kermit Knutzen Award for his efforts.
He and Lois George were married in 1944. She died in 1994. He married Mildred Clinton in 1999.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Judith Krupp of the Town of Tonawanda and Heidi Frushone of East Amherst; three sons, James H. of the Town of Tonawanda, Peter of Clarence and John of Liverpool; two stepsons, Wayne Clinton and Gary Clinton, both of the Town of Tonawanda; a brother, Dr. Richard L. of the Town of Tonawanda; 15 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Kenmore United Methodist Church, 32 Landers Road, Kenmore. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery, Amherst.

HORN - Sueann M. 8/6/01
MEDINA - Sueann M. Horn, 34, died Saturday (Aug. 4, 2001) in Medina Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered earlier that day when her sport utility vehicle crashed on Ridge Road in Hartland.
Mrs. Horn was born Sueann Holmes in Batavia and attended Medina schools.
She was employed as a community living assistant by Arc of Orleans County.
She enjoyed unicorn collectibles and was a fan of the Buffalo Sabres.
Survivors include her husband of 18 years, Donald G.; two daughters, Pamela S. and Bobbiesue Fearby, both of Medina; a son, Aaron S. of Medina; her parents, Roger and Nancy Holmes of Medina; two brothers, Roger Holmes Jr. of Sacramento, Calif., and Kenneth Holmes of Medina; a sister, Lori Cox of Albion; a grandmother, Esther Barkley of Medina; and a dear friend, Robert Fearby of Medina.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bates-Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Burial will be in Bates Road Cemetery.

HORTON - Patricia J. 8/6/01
WEST VALLEY - Patricia Joan Horton, 65, of Kuhn Road died Friday (Aug. 3, 2001) in Buffalo General Hospital.
A Buffalo native, the former Patricia Joan Brankacz retired in 1999 from her job as a youth counselor with a state agency in Great Valley.
She also owned and operated Blue Denim Restaurant in Ellicottville for 12 years.
Mrs. Horton attended Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Ellicottville. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sewing.
Survivors include two sons, Patrick of the Town of Washington and Richard of Great Valley; three daughters, Barbara Smith of East Otto, Kathy Torres of Monterey, Calif., and Susan of Arlington, Texas; a brother, John Brankacz of Rochester; eight grandchildren; and a loving companion, Dan Webster.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 22 Jefferson St., Ellicottville.
