WWII Army Veteran
Stanley “Coach” Wiechec, age 88, of North Tonawanda, died Friday, December 15, 2006 at Crestwood Health Care Center, after a brief illness. Born September 7, 1918 in Depew, he was the son of the late John and Antonia (nee Babieracki) Wiechec and was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda. An Army Veteran of WWII, he served in the European Theatre of Operations and received the Purple Heart. He was employed at Buffalo Bolt for more than 20 years, and then at International Paper Company, until retiring. In recent years, he helped his daughter operate Devons Crossroads Restaurant on Oliver Street in North Tonawanda. Mr. Wiechec was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in North Tonawanda, a life member of the American Legion, Stephen Sikora Post No. 1322, and the Knights of Columbus, Council 2535, where he received the Knight of the Year Award in 1958. He was the husband of the late Helen (nee Kazmierski) Wiechec, who died June 8, 1978, and brother of the late John and Anthony Wiechec.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela (Clifford) Schimpf of North Tonawanda; three grandchildren, Susan (Jerry) Francis of North Tonawanda, Clifford (Kim) Schimpf of Concord, North Carolina, and Jennifer (James) Carroll of Wheatfield; a brother, Benjamin Wiechec of North Tonawanda; and a sister, Irene Kruk of North Tonawanda. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Clifford, Christopher and Paige, and many nieces and nephews.
There is no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM Tuesday at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church on Oliver Street in North Tonawanda. Interment will be cared for privately at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. If desired, memorials to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 64 Center Avenue, North Tonawanda, NY 14120, are preferred by the family. Marchello D. Aiello

Marchello “Marc” Aiello, age 35, of North Tonawanda, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, December 19, 2006. Born March 11, 1971 in the Town of Tonawanda, he had been a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda and was a member of the congregation at the Fair Havens Church in North Tonawanda. Marc attended North Tonawanda High School and earned his Associate’s Degree in Radiology from Niagara County Community College.
He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Karen (nee Gardner) Aiello of North Tonawanda; a brother, Joseph C. (Robin Mineweaser) Aiello of North Tonawanda; his grandparents, Joseph and Angela Aiello of North Tonawanda; two aunts, Sally Fonzi and Rosanne (Richard) Schweickhard, both of North Tonawanda; and an uncle, Lawrence (Kimberly) Aiello of North Tonawanda. Also surviving are many cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday at the Fair Havens Church, 7337 Ward Road, North Tonawanda. Friends invited. Mary T. Dimitri
Devoted Wife & Mother
Mary (nee Luber) Dimitri, age 95, of North Tonawanda, died Saturday, December 23, 2006 at the McAuley Residence, after a brief illness. Born May 22, 1911 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late George and Emily (nee Wessant) Luber and was a longtime resident of Buffalo before moving to North Tonawanda 20 years ago. Mrs. Dimitri had been a secretary for Catholic Charities in Buffalo before retiring, was an avid gardener, enjoyed cooking, and was a devoted wife and mother. She is the sister of the late George and Anthony Luber, Ruth Aljoe, and Cecelia Ortland.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Harold Dimitri; three sons, John (Kathy) Dimitri of Pittsford, Douglas (Karen) Dimitri of North Tonawanda, and Gerald (Dona) Dimitri of West Seneca; and a brother, Peter (Mary Jane) Luber of Syracuse. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Christopher, Kimberly, Ashley, Jaime, Jason, Brendan, and Michael.
There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 PM on Friday at St. Edmund R.C. Church on Ellicott Creek Road in the Town of Tonawanda. Friends invited. Marie Elaine Mundier
Marie Elaine (nee Gagne) Mundier, age 63, of the Town of Amherst, formerly of the Town of Tonawanda, died suddenly, Monday, December 25, 2006 at her home. Born April 17, 1943 in St. Catharines, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Elsie (nee Riehl) Gagne. She had been employed as an Ophthalmology Technician at the Wettlaufer Clinic at Buffalo General Hospital before retiring. Mrs. Mundier enjoyed sewing, gardening and writing.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Mundier of the Town of Tonawanda; two sons, Thomas Mundier and Joseph Mundier, both of the Town of Tonawanda; four sisters, Eleanor (Louis) Tornambe of Georgia, Susan (Doc) Polintan of Florida, Carol Haeffner of Florida, and Theresa (Richard) Nathanson of New York City; and two brothers, Richard (Gail) Gagne of Oregon, and Arthur "Butch" (Fleurette) Gagne of California. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Roy Lee Bright

Roy Lee Bright, age 68, of Pendleton, died Sunday, December 24, 2006 at his home. Born August 25, 1938 in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Roy and Rosella (nee Danforth) Bright and had been a lifelong resident of Pendleton. Roy was the owner of RoBright Furniture during the 1970s, and Bright’s Associates in the 1980s. For the past 15 years, he has worked with his son, Daniel, at Bright’s Systems & Mechanical Services. Mr. Bright was a member of the Modestia, Concordia & Washington Lodges, F.& A.M. for more than 40 years, and served as the Master of Modestia Lodge in 1975. He was also a member of the Ismailia Shrine, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, the Twin City Shooting Club, and the Twin Cities’ Camera Club.
Roy loved life to the fullest; he always left you laughing. He will be missed by all who knew him. A BRIGHT star has risen in the sky above us all. May God hold him in the Palm of His Hand.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Jean (nee Seiser) Bright; two sons, Roy A. (Patricia) Bright and Daniel (Kelly) Bright, both of Pendleton; two sisters, Lauriene Bright of Florida and Loretta Brown of Virginia; and three grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica and Jackson, all of Pendleton.

Evelyn L. Manth
Evelyn (nee Lundy) Manth, age 83, of Amherst, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, after a brief illness. Born September 17, 1923 in Elmira, New York, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Anna (nee Larson) Lundy and was the wife of the late Gerald E. Manth, who died Juanuary 1, 2003.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda M. Manth of Amherst; her son, Larry (Julie) Manth of Palo Verdes, California; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Christine Manth and Thomas Edward Manth; two sisters, Esther Hammond of Horseheads, New York, and Marjorie (Kenneth) Thompson of Nashville, Kentucky; and a brother, Carl (Doris) Lundy of Hammondsport, New York. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Sister Anita Shaughnessy, SSMN

Sister Anita Shaughnessy, S.S.M.N., born in Lowell, Massachusetts, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur Marycrest Residence in Buffalo, where she had lived since 2001. Born Rita M. Shaughnessy on March 3, 1920 in Lowell, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (nee O’Donnel) Shaughnessy. She entered the order of St. Mary of Namur on September 4, 1937 and took her perpetual vows on August 15, 1946. She served her order as a teacher and nurse for almost 70 years.
After teaching at Parochial schools in Western New York and Lowell, Massachusetts, Sister Anita entered the nursing field at Kenmore Mercy Hospital in the Town of Tonawanda in 1970. While there, she worked with others who were starting a new program for those seriously ill, Hospice. Sr. Anita took the knowledge and experience of the Hospice Program to Florence, South Carolina where as a hospital chaplain she helped start Hospice at McLeod Hospital in 1983. In her remembrance, a light has been illuminated on the McLeod Hospice Tree.
She was the sister of the late Lt. John Shaughnessy and Leo Shaughnessy. She is survived by nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and her sisters in the congregation of St. Mary of Namur.
Friends may call from 3-7 PM Thursday only at St. Mary Center, 241 Lafayette Avenue, Buffalo, where a wake service will be held at 7 PM Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Friday at St. Mary Center Chapel. Friends invited. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
