Beth (nee Gardon) Palmer, age 90, of Tonawanda, died Friday, November 3, 2006 at Greenfield Health & Rehabilitation Center in Lancaster. Born September 22, 1916 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Sophia (nee Pitoniak) Gardon and had been a resident of Tonawanda for more than 45 years. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Tonawanda. Mrs. Palmer was the wife of the late Francis "Murphy" Palmer, and sister of the late Chester (Dolores) Gardon, Amelia "Mickey" (Don) Jones, Marion (Chester) Sobolewski, Joann Gardon, Marcella Gardon, Anne Gardon, and Joseph (Patricia) Gardon.
She is survived by two sisters, Florence A. Franusiak and Cecelia "Babe" (Stanley "John") Kasper; a brother, Stanley (the late Jean) Gardon; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-6 PM on Sunday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets in Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday at St. Francis Chapel on Adam Street in Tonawanda. Friends invited. Michael A. Wagner
Army Veteran of Vietnam War
Michael A. Wagner, age 58, of North Tonawanda, died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at his residence, after a long illness. Born March 30, 1948 in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Alexander and Ethel (nee Kovach) Wagner and was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. A longtime resident of Buffalo, he had resided in North Tonawanda since 1990 and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 120 in the Town of Tonawanda, and Fair Haven Church in Wheatfield.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (nee Koprowski) Wagner, whom he married on April 15, 1972 in Buffalo; and a sister, Irene (Les) Kozma of Elma, NY. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
The family will received friends from Noon to 2 PM on Monday at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where a Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM. Friends invited. Rose M. Fisher
Life Member of Tonawanda PTA
Rose (nee Barrett) Fisher, age 78, of Tonawanda, died Saturday, November 11, 2006 at Crestwood Health Care Center, after a long illness. Born August 17, 1928 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (nee McMahon) Barrett and was the youngest of 11 children. A lifelong resident of the Tonawandas, she was active in the community and dedicated to her family. A life member of the PTA in Tonawanda and St. Francis of Assisi Parish, where Mrs. Fisher had been a Religious Education teacher for many years, she was a toll collector for the NYS Thruway Authority for more than 20 years before retiring. She was the mother of the late Russell W. Fisher and grandmother of the late Kyle Fisher.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Fred W. Fisher, whom she married at St. Andrew's Church in 1948; two daughters, Linda Foels and Karen (David) Dalke, both of Tonawanda; two sons, Gregory (Cathy) Fisher and Brian (Janice) Fisher, both of Tonawanda; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Fisher of El Paso, Texas; a sister, Elizabeth Carmichael of Kenmore; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Barrett of Kenmore. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews.

Katharina Staub
Member of St. Paul Lutheran Church
Katharina (nee Theiss) Staub, age 73, of North Tonawanda, died Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, after a brief illness. Born November 10, 1933 in Kallesdorf, Romania, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Maria (nee Gross) Theiss and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. Mrs. Staub was a loving caregiver for her family and an avid gardener. She was the wife of the late Karl P. Staub, who died February 26, 2006.
She is survived by four children, Erika (Thomas) Heim of North Tonawanda, Karl (Carol) Staub of Marina, California, Kathy (Fred) Kugler of Pendleton, and Heide (Guy) Fiorentino of North Tonawanda; eight beloved grandchildren, Amie and Thomas Heim, Alexis Staub, Matt, Brian and Haley Kugler, Brianna Staub, and Zachary Fiorentino; and a sister, Maria Imhof. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Arthur A. Thore
Active in Historical Re-enactment
Arthur A. Thore, age 67, of Tonawanda, died Friday, November 24, 2006, at the VA Medical Center in Buffalo, after a long illness. Born April 8, 1939 in Jamestown, he was the son of the late Arthur and Olga (nee Breeder) Thore and had been a lifelong resident of Tonawanda. A Navy Veteran, he was a truck driver for Grand Island Sales & Service. Mr. Thore was a member of the Hoisenton’s Rangers and the Simon Girty’s Re-enactors.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathleen (nee Blood) Thore; three sons, Charles (Diane) Thore of Tonawanda, Brian (Jackie) Thore of Tonawanda, and Richard (Jodie) Thore of Panama City, Florida; and a sister, Edith Martin of Dallas, Texas. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, James, Christopher, Alexis and Riley, and several nieces and nephews.

John J. Mullin
Retired from Ford Stamping Plant
John J. Mullin, age 81, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Saturday, November 25, 2006 at Northgate Health Care after a brief illness. Born July 26, 1925 in Wellsville, NY, he was the son of the late John and Ruth (nee Spicer) Mullin, Sr. and had been a resident of the Town of Tonawanda for more than 50 years. A Navy Veteran of WWII, he was a data processing supervisor at the Ford Stamping Plant in Hamburg, before retiring. Mr. Mullin was a volunteer usher at Shea’s Theatre, Kleinhans, Studio Arena, and Art Park, and was a member of the Holy Name Society at Ascension R.C. Church. He was the father of the late Michael J. Mullin, who died November 17, 2004.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years and best friend, Therese (nee Ferrand) Mullin, whom he married December 28, 1946 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Tonawanda; two beloved children, Maureen G. Mullin of San Diego, California, and Mark (Joan) Mullin of North Tonawanda; a sister, Marge (Jack) Satterlee of Spokane, Washington; four loving grandchildren, Kristin, Kimberly, Sarah, and Matthew; and two dear great-grandchildren, Jorden and Layla. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and Elaine and Larry Cooke.

Gertrude (nee Keller) Ahrens, age 85, of Tonawanda, died Monday, December 4, 2006, at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo after a long illness. Born July 27, 1921 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lillian (nee Luedtke) Keller. A resident of Tonawanda for more than 45 years, she lived in the first home built on Duffy Drive. Mrs. Ahrens operated Kubby-Hole Ceramics at her home, and was a member of the Tonawanda Senior Citizens, where she also taught ceramics. She was the wife of the late Irving R. Davies, George W. Benns (1960), and Robert G. Ahrens (1985).
She is survived by her daughter, Clairanne J. McGuire of the Town of Tonawanda; her son, Edward C. Benns of Tonawanda; and five grandchildren, Lawrence P. McGuire, Jr. of North Tonawanda, Barbara (David) Chesley of Tonawanda, Kelly (Leo) LaPort of Lockport, Amanda (Matthew) Shepler of Tonawanda, and Alexander C. Benns of Tonawanda. Also surviving are 7 great-grandchildren and a nephew.
