U.S., Obituary Collection, 1930-CurrentFlorence I. Zee
We wish to share with all who delighted in the genuinely beloved spirit, soul and nature of our mother, daughter, sister, and wonderful friend, Florence Irene (nee Trotz) Zee, that she passed away peacefully in her sleep, on Sunday, July 8, 2007.
Florence was born in Buffalo, New York on December 20, 1930 to John Paul and Mary Rose (nee Wincek) Trotz. Both her parents predeceased her as did her brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Trotz, and their son, Paul Trotz (surviving nephew, Gregory Trotz, and niece, Celeste Trotz, continue to reside in New York State), and Richard Trotz (her surviving sister-in-law, Marcie, continues to reside in New York State). Florence married Albert John (Zdybowicz) Zee on December 30, 1950, who predeceased her in June 1981. While raising four children, she pursued a career in nursing, obtaining her Licensed Practical Nursing degree in 1964, alongside her close friend, Dolores. Working primarily as a psychiatric nurse for the State of New York for about 28 years, Florece retired in 1990. Throughout her active life, Florence loved best tending to her home and family, enjoying all facets of remodeling, gardening and landscaping. She was an avid golfer for many years, traveling with a close-knit group of golfing girlfriends. Florence tremendously enjoyed the learning process, encouraging each of us to do so as well, and soaked up a broad base of knowledge and wealth of information about life and living from books, which remain in her personal library. She often immersed herself wholly in new technology as well as advancements in natural healing and medicine, while more recently in her retirement years, self-taught and became very proficient at using home based computer systems. Florence loved each pet, feline and canine, that she welcomed into her home, especially Beri (a pure bred German Shepherd) who during the past six years stayed by her side, demonstrating great devotion and loyalty. Florence's most treasured moments in life are the memories she amassed from a lifetime focus of providing a life for herself and her children, and in later years, visiting and spending time with them and her grandchildren. Along life's way, she happily added many smile lines, lended a listening and understanding ear, professed we hold onto the belief that everything in life happened for a reason, expressed joy and laughter from the bottom of her heart, and humbly embraced the peace in knowing that her life's purpose had so perfectly been met in the beautiful realization that those she loved and cared for so deeply became the phenomenally amazing people they are today. Above all else, Florece was exceptionally proud of her children and her grandchildren.
In respect and honor our our mom's heartfelt wishes and desires, cremation services were selected and provided by Hamp Funeral Home on July 10, 2007. Family and friends will join together in a celebration gathering to commemorate the 76 years that Mom blessed us and the world with her presence at a time to be announced.
