Jean H. Clemons
Former Resident at Raintree Island
Jean (nee Heffernan) Clemons, age 82, of Tonawanda, died Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born July 20, 1922 in Syracuse, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bernadine (nee Bohn) Heffernan and was a resident of Tonawanda for the greater part of her life. She was a former secretary for the Raintree Island Senior Citizens. She was the wife of the late William A. Clemons, who died January 9, 1996.
She is survived by three daughters, Kathleen (Gearld) Dickey of Tonawanda, Karen (Gregory) Sampson of Bel Air, Maryland, and Susan (Dennis) LaHood of York, Pennsylvania; a son, Michael D. Clemons of Chicago, Illinois; and eleven grandchildren, Gearld (Cynthia) Dickey III, Adam, Timothy, David, and Valerie Dickey, Christopher, Jonathon, Andrew, and Alexander Sampson, and Jeffrey and Mallory LaHood. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Friday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Saturday at St. Francis Chapel on Adam Street in Tonawanda. Friends invited. Inurnment will be cared for privately at St. Francis Chapel Columbarium. If desired, memorials to St. Francis Church, 73 Adam Street, Tonawanda, NY 14150, or a charity of your choice are preferred by the family.

Thomas J. Fuller
Lifelong Resident of Tonawanda
Thomas J. Fuller, age 38, of Tonawanda, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at his home. Born December 18, 1965 in North Tonawanda, he had been a lifelong resident of Tonawanda and was employed as a maintenance supervisor for MJ Peterson in Amherst. He was the son of the late Donald E. Fuller.
He is survived by his mother, Elaine (nee Gollhardt) Fuller of Tonawanda; two sisters, Judith (Joseph) Palka of Williamsville, and Vicki (Dale) Zimmerman of Lockport; and two brothers, Donald (Margaret) Fuller of Hamburg, and James J. Fuller of Buffalo. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 11 AM Saturday, August 21, at the Christian Faith Chapel, 5733 Tonawanda Creek Road North in Pendleton. If desired, memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 442 Beach Road, Buffalo, NY 14225, are preferred by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.

Richard E. Wolfley, Jr.
Army Veteran Was Outdoorsman
Richard E. Wolfley, Jr., age 66, of North Tonawanda, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born December 19, 1937 in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Richard Wolfley, Sr. and Marguerite H. (nee Chadbourne) Wolfley and had been a lifelong resident of the Tonawandas. Mr. Wolfley served in the US Army in the late 1950s and then was recalled to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1961. An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed boating and fishing in the Niagara River. He was the brother of the late Susanne Wolfley and grandfather of the late Richard E. Wolfley, IV.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia (nee Weber) Wolfley; his son, Richard Wolfley, III; and a cousin, Frank Holdridge.
Funeral services were cared for privately at the convenience of the family, followed by interment at White Chapel Cemetery. If desired, memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, are preferred by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.

Robert George Solomon
Native of North Tonawanda
Robert George Solomon, age 50, of Woodland Hills, California, went to be with his Lord on Friday, August 20, 2004. He was the beloved son of the late George and Lottie Solomon of North Tonawanda. A 1972 graduate of North Tonawanda High School, he had been a resident of California for the past 20 years. A prominent businessman, Robert was chairman and CEO of Applause, LLC, a plush toy manufacturer.
He is survived by his children, Sara, Ashley and Luke Solomon of Woodland Hills, California; a brother, Conroy Solomon of Palm Coast, Florida; two sisters, Patricia Howitt of North Tonawanda and Jeanette (William) Socha of Valencia, California; three nephews, David and Douglas Socha and Michael Solomon; three nieces, Danielle Sumner, Linda Roe and Katie DiPasquale; a great nephew, Cade; and a great niece, Camryn. Also surviving are several aunts and uncles, and many cousins and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Friday, August 27, at Shepherd of the Hills Church, 19700 Rinaldi Street, Porter Ranch, California. A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 AM Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets in Tonawanda. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at Elmlawn Cemetery in the Town of Tonawanda, NY. If desired, memorials for the Solomon children, care of Jeanette Socha, 24831 Apple Street #A, Santa Clarita, CA 91321, are preferred by the family.

Sister Suzanne Mullen, SSMN
Greatly loved primary teacher
Sister Suzanne Mullen, SSMN, born Rita Catherine Mullen, age 88, of Buffalo, formerly of Lowell, Massachusetts, died Thursday, August 26, 2004, at the Marycrest Infirmary in Buffalo. Born January 7, 1916 in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Susan (nee Keough) Mullen and was a member of the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur since August 2, 1941. She made her perpetual vows on August 15, 1950 and earned her Mount St. Mary Normal School diploma on August 1, 1954. She served her order for more than 63 years as a parochial school teacher in Kenmore, Lockport and Binghamton, NY, as well as in Lowell, MA and Sumter, SC. She truly loved all the children she ever taught, and prayed for them constantly. Even after she retired from formal teaching, she tutored children who had difficulty in school. Sr. Suzanne has lived at the Sisters of St. Mary Retirement Residence since 1996, and brought her happy spirit to all there. She was the sister of the late Ella Toupin, Alice Wagner and Frank Mullen.
She is survived by three sisters, Clare (Raymond) Foye of Lowell, Grace (Ralph) Carnevale of Lowell, and Agnes (Edward) Kenney of McLean, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and her sisters in the Congregation of St. Mary of Namur.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM at St. Mary Center, 241 Lafayette Avenue in Buffalo, where a vigil service will be held at 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday at St. Mary Center Chapel. Friends invited. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. If desired, memorials to the Sisters of St. Mary Infirmary Fund, 241 Lafayette Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14213, are preferred. John W. Fick
Had Operated Fick Shoe Store
John W. Fick, age 92, of North Tonawanda, died Saturday, August 28, 2004, after a brief illness. Born September 30, 1911, in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Fred W. and Phoebe (nee Landers) Fick and had been a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda. A 1929 graduate of Niagara Falls High School, he received a BS degree in Science from the University of Buffalo in 1933, and then continued on to receive a Masters degree in Economics in 1936. He was employed at Carborundum and then at the Sun Oil Company before enlisting in the Army in 1942. He served for four years during WWII, during which time he was a Captain in General Patton’s 3rd Army, and was Company Commander of the 106th Engineers Battalion. After WWII, he joined his father in his shoe store on Webster Street, Fred W. Fick & Son. John took over the business after his father’s retirement and operated it with his wife, Doris, until the store was destroyed by fire in 1984. He was the oldest surviving member of North Presbyterian Church in North Tonawanda, and was a member of the Webster Street Merchants Association. His interests included music, reading, and his cottage in Wilson on Lake Ontario, but most important to him was his family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris (nee Pilson) Fick; a sister, Eva Wolanek; five nieces, Priscilla Seuss, Sheila Holland, Sally O’Donnell, Linda VanValkenburgh, and Susie Ferrari; and two nephews, Gary Wolanek and John Felton. Also surviving are many great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5-8 PM on Tuesday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday. Friends invited. Interment at Acacia Park Cemetery in the Town of Pendleton. If desired, memorials to a charity of your choice are preferred by the family.

Ruth L. Duerr
Formerly of North Tonawanda
Ruth (nee Fingerlow) Duerr, age 81, of Grand Island, formerly of North Tonawanda, died Monday, September 6, 2004, at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, after a long illness. Born January 17, 1923 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Gladys (Farnham) Fingerlow. A member of the Grand Island Golden Agers, Mrs. Duerr had been residing at St. Andrews Presbyterian Manor in Buffalo for the last several years.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Richard) Darnley of Machias, NY; three grandchildren, Vanessa (David) Satterlee of Grand Island, NY, Richard L. Darnley, Jr. of Cheektowaga, NY, and Valerie (David) Pushlar of Bouckville, NY; two brothers, William (Jeanne) Fingerlow of North Tonawanda, NY and Ralph Fingerlow of Corfu, NY; and a sister, Thelma Boeheim of North Tonawanda, NY. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Wednesday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday. Friends invited. Interment at Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton, New York.
